(Old) Be-Labor-ing a Point. An End of (Meteorological) Summer MMP

I’ll run that one past DH. I haven’t really noticed discomfort when off-road (well, at least once I found a suitable bra for such occasions), but it still might not be a bad idea.

I just booked us 3 nights in Ocean City in January. We’ve stayed at this Holiday Inn in the past and we like it a lot. But this time, we’re going mid-week rather than over a weekend. So we shouldn’t have to deal with groups that book over weekends and we’ll get the hot tub to ourselves. Plus one of the days is my birthday, so a good reason to go. This assumes MIL will not be an issue. I can cancel as late as 3 days before.

It’s not a cruise, but it’s a nice little getaway.

Daughter survived her meeting and I got a little quality time with the grands. Chillage is now fully underway.

I would have paid admission to see that.

I initially read that as excrement abounds.

I’m glad that Ariel will soon be in her home stall wet one.

I pay roughly one bill by check anymore. Riverlink, the IDOT department in charge of tolls on I65 across the Ohio river can be theoretically paid online. I have yet to accomplish this. Once, I thought I had, only to be dunned later for five times the toll because it had been unpaid for six months. Since then, I drag out the checkbook whenever I make the trip north. Funny thing, the past three consecutive check numbers were to them.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

You wouldn’t even believe my day if I told you half of it…. If was full of misses including going to an interview with another school that is serviced by the same company that I now work for one day a week and the principal had no idea why I was there. Then as I walked out, my recruiter was calling me to see why I hadn’t shown up at the interview because the principal was calling her saying I was a no show.

So, it turns out that there is a school of the same name in both a city north of me by 30 minutes and one to the southeast of me by 1 1/2 hours. Guess where I had actually been scheduled for an interview?

And that was just the beginning of the day. Thank goodness now I am home and being a proper slug upon the couch. I suppose that 8 is too early for bed, right?

It’s never too early for bed.

Ariel is back home. We are pleased. She was displaced for 16 days and we both hated every minute of it.

And she does have her bestie next stall, I hope. I’d have seriously wanted to punch someone for letting her spend DAYS freaking out when there was such an easy fix for her peace of mind.

Having my salad.
So happy that the latest Rolling Stone appeared in the library!

My sentiments exactly. The barn manager is #1 on the list. Y’all know what that means.

There are three downtown but I only know where one of them is. It has a parking lot and if I have my choice between a parking lot and parallel parking on the street, I’ll pick the parking lot every time.

Hubs said it was helpful to him as well…but by that time we were rock crawling. By the time Hubs got done modding that jeep, we got an amazing 7 mpg on the freeway, LOL!!!

Which you sure do deserve!

Dang, I hope it turned out right in the end.

You are so much nicer than me.

I thought running the offender through a hay baler might have been just a wee bit disproportionate  . I suppose locking the offending idiot in a stall WITH the totally freaked out horse could work.

@Sticks_and_Scones
Oh my that is one heck of a day! I hope you can get things sorted out to your benefit. But it’ll make a great story once the shock wears off, eh?

Morning post didnt’t post:
Covered the 100 and 200 slide again, because WB was on the 100 table, and the Senior clerk had to clean up her supply area, since new management doesn’t like what it looked like. I got gas and went home. Now it’s naptime.

Up from naptime and having a martini.

:open_mouth:
That doesn’t cover half of it.

This is why I have a cat and not a child.

Party on, Wayne!

Hope Mr. brown feels better.

Horse floozy!

Does this mean the Mods will be replaced by giant beach balls?

We are talking about Ohio, the state that has the most residents going up to space to escape it.

In this case, no.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 77 with light rain beginnin’ late mornin’. We shall see. We shall head over to the church house so as I can deal with various duties and then be bears who brunch at Eggs Up. The rest of the day shall be spent in high sloth, nappage, day drinkin’ and other RDOS inactivities.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Earworms are annoying enough, but when it’s the entire score of a Broadway musical, it gets past annoying. Since beginning Oliver Twist, I’ve been treated to an in-head version of the various songs, depending upon what part of the book I’m reading. And I’m only half way thru the fifty-some chapters. Not that any of them are very long - it was written as a newspaper serial, right?

Plus it dredged up one of the more embarrassing memories of high school. In 10th grade, the school’s production was to be Oliver! and I auditioned, thinking the part of Bet would suit, since I wasn’t vain enough to think I could be Nancy. Turns out, I was too vain to consider Bet. In fact, I should never have subjected the drama teacher to my “reading” which pretty much stunk up the joint. I knew as I was doing it that I stunk. Then again, I’d never acted and never had any training.

As an aside, the part of Nancy went to a girl whose name was, in fact, Nancy, and she was fabulous! She went on after graduation to become a Rockette, then one of Dean Martin’s Golddiggers, as well has having a bunch of bit parts over the years. I, on the other hand, gave up any hope of being a famous actress right then and there. And I’m sure that was a wise decision, as I have since thought about what’s involved in rehearsals and multiple takes or seven shows a week plus a matinee… It’s not just adoration and applause, which is all I wanted. And that’s how I ended up as an engineer.

FCD goes to the dentist today to get measured or whatever they do to make a crown for the stud that has been implanted in his jaw. All this because of a cracked molar. Poor baby. But there will be one more appointment to have the crown put in, then, theoretically, he’ll be done except for semi-annual cleaning.

Speaking of which, that’s on my calendar for tomorrow. I have an appointment at 8:30 and FCD has a boatyard appointment at the same time tomorrow, so SIL will come over to stay with MIL because we dare not leave her alone.

The other item on my calendar - today is Daughter’s birthday. My baby is 39!!! Hard to believe, I tells ya! Here she is at 1 month.

Poor kid was bald till she was 2! Luckily she grew hair.

Today’s big plan is laundering my bedroom curtains and the living room curtains. Yeah, I walk on the wild side!

Happy Thursday!!

Good morning.

It’s 59F, dark and clear outside. Our expected high temperature is 93F. I want autumn, damn it.

Happy Birthday to your daughter, FCM.

I’m glad that Ariel is back in her usual stall next to her sweeties, peedin.

Chef, I’m sorry to read about your kids’ woes. I hope things improve as soon as possible.

Sticky Buns, that sounds like quite a day. I hope everything is sorted out for you.

Nettie, I’m glad your DH wasn’t hurt. Sorry to read about the Jeep being dinged.

Yesterday was an in-office day. As usual, I couldn’t get much done due to the number of interruptions, but that day is done and over.

My son spent the day at urgent care the day before yesterday. After many tests, it was determined one of his lungs had partially collapsed. So, they’ve now sent him home with little breathing machine. I specifically asked about this when he was in hospital for his emergency appendectomy. I had to have this after my gallbladder removal and one other surgery. He couldn’t draw a full breath, and I was concerned then. My concerns were waved away. While at urgent care, the staff there were stunned that he had not been sent home with aftercare instructions for drawing deep breaths, along with the little machine. I’m super pissed for my son, but he’ll be okay. He’s at risk for pneumonia right now, so he’s to return immediately to urgent care if he spikes a fever or anything.

Tuesday was my granddaughter’s sixth birthday. I guess the evening did not go as planned, and things were rough because she behaved badly and was ungrateful for the gifts she received from her parents. She was sent to bed and told her party this weekend would be canceled if she didn’t shape up.

Zoe is often a prickly and anxious kid. I don’t know why. She didn’t used to be that way, but around age four, she changed. She can often be mean and say some pretty hurtful things. I believe that particular behavior should have been nipped in the bud when it started. They didn’t address it at first. You know how it is; you can’t say anything, and all you can do is watch things unfold. I pointed out she often said some pretty hurtful things (even by adult standards) and was told she was a child, and I shouldn’t have been so hurt. I backed off, but my husband has had a bad attitude about her since then, and I’m just caught in the middle.

I don’t share much about Zoe’s doings (good or bad) with my husband because, while he is polite and knows she matters to me, he seems cold. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t want him to come to Missouri with me, but I know he’ll be super hurt if I go without him. He’s still hurt and angry they moved to Missouri, too. So, I don’t share too much about them in general because his reaction is cold. He pisses me off. While I’m unhappy they moved so far away, the move made sense. My son-in-law had land out there, and they could build on it. The kids could have that old-fashioned outdoor upbringing and be safe. Given the opportunity, I would have done the same for my kids when they were little.

At first, I wondered if I had done something that caused the behavior because they would be cold towards me and often say mean things. It got to the point where she didn’t want to hug me anymore. I didn’t force it. I won’t make a child be affectionate if she doesn’t want to be. However, she does that to many people, so it wasn’t just me.

My grandson, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. He has a very sunny disposition, tells everyone how much he loves them, and is extra considerate of others. Don’t get me wrong, he has moods, but they’re normal. Zoe’s often seem over the top. I once asked my daughter if she had noticed how angry Zoe had become, and my daughter became angry with me. I stopped asking or saying anything at that point. It still concerns me, but they live far away, and I’m not there daily. Maybe there are more good days than bad, but I doubt it.

Well, that was a lot. Sorry about that.

I hope you all have a peaceful day.

Taters - I know where you’re coming from. Caught between “Let me fix this” and “It’s not mine to fix” - even tho you know the answer. Tobias is deeply into his Terrible Twos - sometimes he’s an absolute delight, then he becomes a defiant little troll. SIL can deal with him, but Daughter is inclined to resort to bribery. Just the other day she asked me to come out and get him in his car seat, which I did with no drama. But she’s bigger than he is, and stronger. IMHO she should have picked him up and strapped him in, but it’s her kid. Makes you wonder what the future holds… Deep cleansing breaths - your input likely won’t be appreciated.

I’m showered and dressed. Our bedroom curtains are in the washer - they’re fully lined so essentially the equivalent of 4 pairs instead of 2, so I washed them with just the valance from the bathroom. I’m hoping they come out as wrinkle-free as the others so I don’t have to iron them. We shall see.

Not sure what else the day will hold, apart from staying close to MIL. She keeps insisting we can leave her alone. Nope, ain’t gonna happen. The last thing we need is to come home and find her crumbled and bleeding on the floor. Her comment “I’ve never done that before!” Yeah, and I’d never tripped over the boat rail till I did. But stubborn is strong in that one.

Anyway, whatever happens today is what will happen.

Unfortunately for two of them, it’s a waiting game. My youngest said he woke up from a nightmare in which he was drowning and nobody could hear him screaming for help. Cripes.

Morning all. Major activity so far has been getting the hamburger out of the freezer so it is ready for dinner time tonight. Some light rain in the area and 72F but heading up to 90F later in the day. Do want to get my property tax paid, so will journey over to the County building in a couple of hours to take care of that. Then gym and soccer later on in the afternoon should move me through most of the day.

FCM, a little vacation plan is a nice idea, given the stress of this year (and others recently), you need some ‘me’ time with FCD. And I never tried out for any play in high school, I knew what my singing voice sounded like… Nice pic.

Sticky Buns, that was a mess on the interview, surprised they didn’t give you more information or a phone/address as a POC.

JtC, regarding the gyms, visit them all would be my suggestion, prices can vary widely and what each offers can differ; find the one that suits you best and then worry about the parking. IMHO of course.

Taters, best wishes to your son, sounds like that horse-pistol isn’t a place I would take a horse too, much less a human being. As for 6 year olds, they can be a handful anytime, hope things settle down in due course.

In fact hugs to everyone dealing with their kids/grandkids/niece/nephews/etc. At least I only have to deal with 8-9 year olds for about 5-6 hours a week and then can hand them back over to their parents.

Onward into the day! Excelsior!

SIL called to ask if I could come let him into his house. His keys were locked inside and the hidden key didn’t work. I didn’t want to leave MIL alone. He texted a few minutes later to say he’d gotten in. Dunno if he figured out the key or if he went in thru a window. But yay for whatever.

My nice, clean bedroom drapes are back on the windows. I had to iron the bathroom valence - 100% cotton comes out of the dryer wrinkly. But it took longer to get out the iron and board than it did to use them! I still need to do the ones in MIL’s room, FCD’s office, and the living room, but they’re all lightweight. Maybe later when MIL gets up.

Tried to log into irk a little after six, but couldn’t connect. I suspect my PC got turned off (a power outage is the usual suspect). I emailed the Collections Manager since he gets into the office around 0530, but he’s irking from home today. I answered an Outlook online email from one of the Collections people, who gets in early, that said ‘Try now.’ I did, and I’m in and can now go to irk. (She also called me right after I replied.) So I’ve only lost about an hour and 20 minutes.
