(Old) Find the Good in the MMP!

Love the Poe reference! :grinning:

Mayhaps a cask of amontillado? (Sp)

You spelled it right. I was trying to be subtle.

Huh. So I’m not sure how to ask this politely, but I’ll just bring it up. I was confused when I read that shoe’s mom is in her 80’s. How old are you, shoe??

I cannot do steroids. They do not mix with bipolarness.

Not too much going on here. Can’t remember if I said this the other day, but we got our new furniture which consists of 2 recliners for me and my mom and a, um, lovely brown chair with an ottoman for MusicMan. Thankfully we were able to donate the old gigantic recliner couch to a family in need through our local DD board. And thankfully they were able to get it out of the house with no hassle. Now we’re just working on end table logistics since there’s so much more room in here now.

Oh, and FCM, you just reminded me of when my grandma was very old and very much in the grips of Alzheimer’s as she would hide her poop around the house. Now that was an exciting game of hide and seek!

Well, that’s good news.

I always preferred Mountain High, but I liked to go to Sunrise occasionally for the view, and because I thought the rope-tow was fun.

OMG - I can’t even imagine! The worst FIL did was hide his hearing aids in a little figurine. The only reason MIL found them was she was dusting and she heard a rattling when she lifted it. No idea why he hid them there.

Supper has been ingested and I’m about to collapse in my recliner. I’m pretty sure I’m sleeping with Mel tonight. I haven’t had a good sleep in at least 4 or 5 nights and I’m dragging. For now, tho, back to my dead tree book where I must remember to turn pages rather than swipe. How archaic!!!

And a good evening to all. Cycling in place has been completed and copious amounts of sweat have been sweated. Am replenishing calories with a big bowl of Lean Cuisine Fettuccine Alfredo, while waiting for the rain to start again. Only 71F right now, so quite a bit cooler than the start of the week.

In the mail today was a official-looking check for $230,864 to buy my house. They say they will buy it ‘as-is’ but the fine print on the check says ‘offer is contingent upon the condition of the house’, so that’s a big nope. Still planning to make it to 75-76 before looking for an apartment/retirement community. But nice to see what someone thinks it’s worth…

FCM, hang in there. And surprise checks (in this case, one you can cash) are always nice. Sleep well;

shady, stay safe, and a unique and apparently successful use of one thing to do another thing.

Sticky Buns, hope you and mom/Music man are all nice and comfortable.

Well, the pasta is digesting and I think I’ll get me some applesauce for dessert, so all y’all take care.

I would guess that’s as much the price / portability as kids wanting them for a Tik Tok challenge.

:people_hugging: to you and FCD Mooooooom.

Howdy Y’all! Been a day of high RDOS inactivity as predicted. I did take a ham steak outta da freezer this mornin’. Threw that on the grill and heated up the peas and smashed N.O.T. leftover from last night’s sup and we et that for N.O.L. followed by nappage. Been cloudy all day with a little off and on rain. We sat out on the back porch to day drink and the sun peeked out for a bit. ‘Twas nice just sittin’ there like the sloths we are wont to be. Did some Netflix and chill and now my DAWGS have just started their game with the Kaintucky Kitty Kats. Hope I make it through to the end. I usually start to get sleepy between nine and ten p.m.

I loved how the calico was all Nope, I’m out of here

Thanks for the thoughts for Jolene. Last night she slept the sleep of the drugged (the vet sent her home with the good stuff) while GG whined outside her door. She was ready for breakfast and much improved but after an hour, we drugged her and she slept most of the day.

GG and Jolene are friends again, but she isn’t willing to play or even get into their favorite crow’s nest together and GG is very confused. We are going to drug her and make them sleep with a door between them again tonight and will see how she in in the morning. The vet said to keep her drugged for a week, which we will of course do, but we do want to let them cuddle to together again. They both miss it.

Thank you! I try to quarantine things like that, but sometimes it just doesn’t work.

Being a bad influence is just what I do, LOL!!!

Our hand crank, non decorative mill didn’t make the move. That’s fine, I didn’t have an emotional attachment to it. I do have an emotional attachment as well as a physical addiction to my morning coffee, so a replacement was found post-haste.

The coffee must flow.

I asked Harry how often the power went out for longer than half an hour and he said that this hasn’t happened for at least ten years before reminding us to rotate our genny fuel with the mower fuel cause gas degrades over time.

Flesh colored thong and stay in motion (says the woman who modeled chain mail.) That was also when I had a scarlet red fringed mini. Also a stay in motion dress.

Oh, I’m pretty sure you could have…as long a someone else dressed you using plenty of double sided fashion tape.

Oh and notice how the model is holding her hands flat to her body? No moving once you’ve been sewn and taped in!!!

Thank you, she seems to be much improved. When the vet tech called to check on her, she told me to send the receipt for the blood work to the rescue and that the vet has recommended we be reimbursed. I’m old and forgetful and I smoke a lot of weed. I’ll probably just forget to get around to it. Oh wait, I already have!

Sounds like just what you need!

I am so sorry.

I always get my shots in the same arm because I’m a side sleeper and don’t want two sore arms. I have heard mixed opinions about doing so, but I’m still a Novid so I guess what I’ve been doing has worked.

Your week sounds like it is going to be great…except for the dog torture time.

I’ve never cared about our family genealogy, but the research process is very interesting. I’ve done some digging around just because I like playing Nancy Drew.

Once of my sisters was very much into it until she learned that one of our distant relatives was hanged for being a horse thief. She was so outraged that she disowned him and never moved on with her research.

I was also disappointed, I would have hoped that he would have been a successful horse thief but she thought that it was just disgraceful that we were related to a criminal.

Is it cordless? If not, you can put it in the top rack of your dishwasher and run it through a cycle. Wrap the cords up and be sure to shut the heat cycle off. Let it air dry for a day or so. If it works, great. If not it was already broken so no big loss.

Seriously surprised he still has a functioning closet door.

Gas has been dropping here as well. I paid 2.95 last time I filled up. Here’s hoping this is a trend!

I am so sorry for all of you.

I learned to lie to FIL. I’d agree to everything he said. If he said he wanted to ride an electric bike, I would have said “Sure! You can be the very first one to ride it.” When he said he wanted to get his AZ drivers license, I said “Sure! We will do that tomorrow. Have your Hospice nurse give you a shower and trim your hair for the picture.” He wasn’t going to remember tomorrow and there was easier to agree than to fuss.

I haven’t made it past ten for years.

So I’ve been having a hankering for chicken and dumplings. But I don’t have chicken stock yet because hubs has been smoking all of our meat and smoked bones don’t make good broth.

Today I threw a chicken and vegs into the oven (well, I parboiled some potatoes, sauteed some onions and garlic for a rub and pealed carrots that got chopped with celery and etc.) for dinner. After dinner, the chicken got butchered and the drippings and bones and stuff went into the slow cooker with some of the frozen veg peels I collect.

We are going to wake up so hungry after smelling the stock simmering all night.

Or not. The forest is still on fire. It is smouldering its way across the ridge and our windows leak so we can smell the smoke.

It seems as though I’m the only one worried about this, so many things are so different here.

Spot was being psychotic hellbeast, assaulting assorted stuffed animals, blankets, and my arm. He felt me bunny kicking him was outside the rules of war. So I went up the street to Hops for Hope. 4 hours, 32 beers to taste. I liked Clouds Brewing Cocoa Pebbles stout, but I voted for Carolina Brewing Company, they made a sour with lime, passion fruit, and watermelon. They made a tiki beer

I’d be down with that.

Good. GG needs his little buddy.

If he could have yeeted the door off a cliff, I’m sure he would have.

Mid 40s. Mom had me a bit later in life. She’s damn spry, though.

I made 3 quarts of pork stock today from bones in the freezer. Next will be veggie broth. Isn’t it nice to have homemade broth on hand? I still keep some bouillon in the cupboard, but my own stuff is better.

Oh, yeah … woof?

(How’d they do?)

We are so spoiled. I should put bouillon on the restocking list because I do use it for cooking at times, but the idea of using sto bought broth is enough to give us both the vapors!!!

I’m still saving up enough bones and fat for beef broth. Sometimes I miss silly stuff, like my freezer full of food to make food. Then I look out at the forest and forget what I was doing.

The trees are turning color. Every time I look outside, they are different. I was sitting out with my coffee this morning and there was a crow caucus happening. I don’t know what the outcome was, but saw three or four patrolling the area for the rest of the day.

Swampie’s dawgs won, but only by one point (13-12). Talk about vapors and fainting couches!

Naptime. and I have verified that Spot is not walled up in my closet.

< hides Better than Bouillon jar in back of fridge >

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 78 with light rain throughout the day. Again, we shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. The other Verger texted me last night and asked me to take her place today, as she hurt a foot and can’t get it in a shoe (N.O.S.) Of course I said yes and made her promise if the foot is still swollen this mornin’ she would go to urgent care or the ER. I’ll text her in a little while to see how she’s doin’. Anywho… after we deheathenate we shall get a McN.O.L. for today’s main feed. Nappage, day drinkin’ and other RDOS inactivities shall comprise the rest of the day.

Boo and Shoe (I made a rhyme!) there was indeed much clutchin’ of pearls and fallin’ upon faintin’ couch last night. My DAWGS gave me a scare, but did win over the Kaintucky Kitty Kats. I probably need extra special double seekrit Confession this mornin’ after some of the things I said durin’ the game. They have a bye week before playin’ Alabammy. Let us hope they get their act together. Boo good for you and your 'Huskers in their big win!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Bad night last night - for me. Not sure what caused it and I’ll spare you the gross details, but my system was purging itself of something. It was way late when apparently everything was gone. The only reason I’m up this early is to tend to Higgs. I expect in a few minutes I’ll crash on my recliner or go back to bed. I’m feeling like boiled-over death, but at least my innards have settled. And I’m 2# lighter this morning. Do not recommend this as a weight-loos method.

Not sure what today will hold - FCD may or may not take his mom to church. I don’t think I’ll go anywhere or do anything more strenuous than reading in my recliner. In fact, I might just crawl back into bed, or I might sleep on my recliner. Dunno and don’t care at this moment.

Happy Sunday, all! Kindly tiptoe around my recliner. Thanks.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/57f with a predicted high of 15c/59f, and rain showers. Weather app says “Well, fuck a doodle doo. It’s fucking raining.” Can’t argue with that, it is definitely raining out there. Fine with me, I have no plans to leave the house today.

We had a really good night out yesterday, went for some delicious Turkish food then popped into a favourite pub for a drink then went to the gig. Had a great time, saw some friends I haven’t seen in a while, chatted to lots of folks, hung around afterwards for the usual shenanigans, and was home in the early hours.

I have no plans for today, I got up at 7.30am to do feline tums and bums, then went back to bed for a bit. My only job of the day will be foraging for lunchables, that’ll be whatever the kitchen has to offer, and chilling on the sofa. Might watch a film, might read a book, might snuggle with a cat.

Hope you feel better soon, Moooom
