(Old) Find the Good in the MMP!

I love cornmeal mush, but hubby doesn’t find it interesting, so I have to cook it just for me. Now I want mush.

And swampy mentioned cornbread. And I realized I have both medium and fine ground corn meal.

But I should probably cook the two ears of corn that I have in the fridge.

Hurray!

Hip hip hurray!

My dad’s friend, who’s much older, and sicker (also prostrate cancer), seems to be doing better, which sort of baffles his doctors. They want to try a new medicine on him, and he’s worried whether insurance will pay because it’s experimental.

Those look gorgeous! (At least what Google showed me) Reminds me of poppies with that splash of color.

Okay, since I started this, there are another 55 posts, so I’m pressing Reply, and then I’ll ready the rest.

Awesome! Sounds like a great time!

Thanks for letting me know. I realized today that part of my confusion is/was because my meniscus is torn, and I have arthritis, and the cyst. They don’t necessarily all cause and relate to the same issues.

FCM, what’s his favorite Pete the Cat book???

For a second there, I thought you were describing doggio himself!

I’ve spent the day rolling around in my favorite (purple) office chair cleaning the floors. Then I got a bit of online work done and now Annie and I are sitting here chillin’. Unfortunately I just got a text a few minutes ago from one of my dad’s old friends who hadn’t heard that he passed away. He was trying to locate my dad and was concerned because there had been no response. :pensive: Next Monday would have been my dad’s 74th birthday. I start my one day a week job on that same day.

My spousal unit was an OS in Gitmo till he got hurt and ended up in Bethesda, then NASJax.

They’re half-length rails, not full sides. So far, she’s staying put mostly, but safety issues will be addressed as they spring up.

He knows now. But the deposit was a whopping $2, so I took a crazy chance. He’s actually kinda excited about it.

In case anyone wants to make this a Mumpfest cruise, here’s the info. Plenty of time to save up, right?? I like that it’s round trip out of Boston, so no flights involved. We can probably take a train or something to Boston. We can figure that out in another year or so…

It’s the one about the white shoes. I don’t know what others he has.

Now, now, let’s not judge…

My Dr appt was at 2:30. I was walking to my car at 2:35. He actually saw me early, showed me pics of my heart at rest and at work - hardly any differences, and told me to get 150 minutes of exercise a week and to come back in 6 months. So time to dust off the treadmill.

Poke is almost cooked. Little spudlets in a steam bag will be nuked, and I’m going to sauté some cabbage. So supper will be an easy fix.

I just got my election day assignment: I got the location and the position I hoped for! Yay!

In less than 45 minutes, I’ll head to the gym for a personal training session. I’ll stop at the grocery store afterwards, and I should be back home by 7pm – leaving plenty of time to shower and eat dinner and do some unwinding before the debacle debate starts. I just had new coloring markers delivered, so I look forward to doing some coloring therapy while I only kinda sorta pay attention.

I’m thinking sometime in October/November…? I’ll send you a PM at some point (maybe around the end of the month) and we can see about plannin’.

Belated happy birthday!! :birthday:

Mine is later this month: Virgos FTW! :virgo:

Yay!

I know there are plenty of cold pizza fans, but that has just never worked for me (and I’m the opposite of a pizza snob). I can do room temp if it’s fresh – cooked that day and just left on a counter or something – but not once it’s been in the fridge. I only need it to be warm, though: 45-60 seconds for two slices generally does the trick.

That’s my favorite too!!! :tada::tada::tada:

I went to Gitmo one time for 7–10 days (think the exercise was called REFTRA?) I remember the Stoplight restaurant, the bowling alley and a restaurant up in the hills (Blue Caribe?)

T

Yep REFresher TRAining. FCD used to work in the big golf ball as part of the REFTRA crew. When were you there? He was there in the early 80s - just before we met.

Supper and dishes are done (Us old folks do like to eat early…) In about half an hour, Tobias will call and read to me, or whatever he wants to do. You can never predict what a 2-y/o may want. After I’m done with him, it’ll be max chillage.

I want to say I was there ‘82-‘83? Not completely sure…

They had a dive shop that the QM2 and I took advantage of and rented some gear.

Hi, just jumping into the MMP waters for a sec. FCM, good on ya! I came home a few weeks ago to discover that while I was out, my lovely wife had booked us on a cruise in a few years from Asia to Africa.

Read all; no time to reply thoughtfully, but I love you all.

FCD pretty much stood his watches, then went diving. Lots of spear fishing and such. How funny if you two may have encountered each other way back then…

That brought up an image of some clerk walking around the office waving the check and asking, “Does anyone know what this is and what I should do with it?”

I was in GTMO 82-83 and ate at the Blue Caribe.
I have pictures…somewhere.

We may have crossed paths. I remember we had to join the dive club to rent gear….some of the surf diving was brutal though.

The only problem with that is the rent. If you haven’t looked at apartments recently, you will be shocked. I’m one of them childless cat ladies, but I still worry about the young folks who want to get their own place but are priced into staying with mom and dad until they are thirty.

Enough of that depressing stuff.

We moved from a high cost of living area to a low cost of living area and never once considered looking at a home with stairs because we are just too old for that anymore. Tai Chi really helped with my hip and got me off my cane, but carrying things up and down the stairs is kinda scary to this day.

That is so odd. Sometimes cooking allows folks to eat things, I’ve never heard of it working the other way.

LOL at Stretch. His nose said one thing but his mouth said another.

snickers with you

I don’t say that to grocery store workers despite knowing that some of them would laugh with me.

This is what I hated about government jobs. It seemed like going to meetings was always more important than doing our primary jobs…until review time came.

It is official, we now share the same pick-up day. for the longest time the website said we were scheduled for Mondays but the truck never showed until Tuesday. Last week the website changed. I’ll be depending on you to remind me now!!!

Tell us more about the crowd. Was there lots of parking tickets given out? Political signs? Idiots driving on sidewalks because traffic was stopped? Dish!!!

Good for you, you sure do deserve it! I hope you have a great time.

Oh hurray! We are at the “use it or lose it” time of our lives, I’m glad you are getting back to using it.

Congrats on retirement. I hope you are enjoying it. Are you still diving? That sounds like a great old fart hobby.

I once called in stoopid. As in, “I can’t find my glasses and I just locked my keys in my car. I’m having a stoopid day and you really don’t want me messing around with your files.”

Happy birthday! 40 is a great age, old enough to have some idea as to how the world works and young enough to not hurt when you wake up in the morning.

I was raised on cold pizza for breakfast. Well…not really, we only got pizza a couple of times a month, but when we did the leftovers were always eaten straight from the fridge for breakfast. (Of course, that was before microwaves.)

I had a good friend that I got into diving who passed during a dive (I was not with him but his doc said the aneurism could have happened any time and not related.) It sort of put me off diving though I may do it again some day…

Jtc,

It surprised the doctor as well… it usually goes the other way.

So far there was a shooting at the market Frankfort line around 3 ish. A fight turned into a shooting. Probably nothing to do with the debate, but one more thing that got closed down.

On my way home I saw people with posters heading toward the constitution centre. The people are gathering. There are people from both sides.

There are watch parties at restaurants, pubs, and bars.

I handed out some Kamala forward posters.

https://www. Shepard Fairey Endorses Kamala Harris with 'FORWARD' Poster

I am home with the makings of a root beer float for the debate.

We may have crossed paths as well… who knows?

What a lovely surprise! I hope you both have a wonderful time.

Oh hmmm, well, yeah.

I used to snorkel in Hawaii, but got out of the habit in AZ. (I once made whoopy on the Bowfin, so I do have that to brag about, LOL!)

Tempers tend to get high when that sort of thing is going on. Trump came to Prescott Valley twice while I was working there. It was a mess. Nobody got shot, but there were a lot of assaults done by people wearing red hats and car accidents caused by aggressive coal rollers.

I’m not sure why they were so upset, there were plenty of seats available both times he was there so nobody was going to miss out.

Meh. Things are so much more subdued here. It’s so nice.

Vote like your daughters’ rights depend on it.

So I’ve finally given in. Tomorrow I’m giving up my out of state license plate. I’ve ordered a custom back window sticker that says “New West Virginia driver. Please pray for me.” So far everyone had been nice to me on the road but I’ve seen how they are with other WV drivers - plus I feel sorry for them when they get behind me.

We will have lunch somewhere in Logan and then visit the gyms in town. Hubs has agreed that he will come with me, but when I mentioned pool exercise classes (his knees are horrible) he didn’t look very thrilled. Maybe he can ride a low resistance bike while I’m splashing around? I dunno, but I do know that we need to move our bodies around more and the only way to get us to do it is to have things scheduled.

The deer seem to be regular visitors now. They eat the higher weeds in the ditch and then wander over to our fence and eat the bindweed. They are about the size of a Golden Retriever and still have their baby spots. I don’t want them getting too comfy around people, but that is a safe spot for them to graze. So far, no carrots have gone over the fence. I know better than that.

When I worked at the chicken processing plant, I belonged to the UFCW.

I’m hoping that for you too.

Happy belated birthday emily!

Irked, came home, yada yada. Got a few housekeeping chores done in the studio and will begin a new project rotation tomorrow.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
