(Old) Flyboy’s Birthday🎂in the new MMP~

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 87 and mostly cloudy for the day. No rain, but still under a flood watch which should go away soon. Today shall be another day of mostly sloth and general overall uselessness. We shall be bears who N.O.L. at the not too shabby Chinese hog trough buffet. That will take care of today’s main need to feed. The meetin’ that was postponed Wednesday is re-scheduled for today at five-thirty p.m. Since I gotta go for that, I shall go over and take care of candle and other duties before meetin’ time. That way I only have to make one trip.

Cat_Glove so sorry about the bad call re Hubs report. Hopefully when y’all meet with the specialist things won’t seem so dire.

Lily glad everything came out in the end. I crack me up! The experience of a colonoscopy is no fun, but glad you at least had an option that made the prep less awful.

Sari hope you get some answers re the pain today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

I think we both had pretty good sleep last night. I woke a couple of times but fell back to sleep, and each time, FCD was zonked out, so it’s not like he’s the one who woke me. He’s still crashed and I’m not going to disturb him, poor baby.

We’re going to Marie’s for breakfast, then home to do various stuff. T-boomers are promised for the afternoon, not that going to the boat was on the agenda anyway. If I can’t set up the pool for the kids, there’s plenty in the house that I’ve been neglecting. And we’re out of 'nanners :open_mouth: - a trip to Food Lion is in order.

Overall, it promises to be a mostly chill day. I hope. And I hope we get some decent precip with the t-boomers - we’re way below normal rainfall and our local farmers don’t irrigate. It’s almost sweet corn season, dammit, and corn needs rain!!!

Happy Firday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 24c/76f with a predicted high of 26c/78f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s really fucking warm outside. It might be a great fucking day to try crotch pot cooking.” It is indeed cloudy but there’s a lot of sun and it’s humid too. Absolutely zero chance of rain too, apparently.

CatGlove sorry to hear you had bad news, I hope there is light at the end of that tunnel.

Mooom glad to hear that FCD is feeling more normal today, and that you will be supervising his doc’s visit!

Lily good to hear that your procedure went well and there were no unfortunate after-effects

Sari that’s a bit steep even for Uber. Over here, licenced cabs have a structured charging rate for mileage but Uber is pretty much able to charge whatever the driver feels like. We have tried using it for journeys and sometimes see quite a big differences in charges for the same distance.

We are a few days away from exam boards and stuff is getting a bit close to the bone. We have missing marks across all our programme years, some of it’s due to slow markers and some’s due to the boycott so we’re still not quite sure what to do with everyone who doesn’t yet have a complete record. Time to exercise my cobbling skills!

flyboy, wow. I never had to deal with them in Utah. Looking online they apparently aren’t there, there are pocket gophers. We never had any problems with them, though.

TokyoKids will participate in a sailing competition tomorrow and Sunday. There aren’t as many kids sailing here in Hokkaido and the competition isn’t as strong.

Classes went well today. The kids aren’t used to having tests in English so they are getting lots of new experiences in life.

TokyoWife is back from her business trip and then leaves again on Monday for a week and a half. I am getting used to running things without her.

Pre-operation physical today. Oh joy. I hate physicals. The poking, the prodding, the tut-tutting (implied). But if you don’t pay the ransom, they withhold your meds, so there’s that. And I really need this knee replacement done, sooooo…

Morning all. Rain has departed the area and temperatures are supposed to get to 90F today, so the AC will get some work in. Will unplug the computer in about an hour and take it to the GigaParts to check cleaned/checked out, just to be careful. Other than that and swimming/sauna, not much on the agenda. Mowage is possible if I feel ambitious enough.

nellie, glad you like the term. In my case, the pedaling gets me sweaty enough and then I double down by sitting in the sauna for 20-25 minutes. Bath last night felt sooooo good. And have a wonderful visit.

Well, Juneau, Alaska is a pretty nice place and shortest day is 6.5 hours, while longest is 18.5 hours…and it’s a pretty nice place (but don’t know what the pizza business is like…)

I think it means She Who Must Be Obeyed, from (IIRC) an old series called Rumpole of the Bailey (some good books are also available).

{{{Cat Glove}}}.

Sari, I expect the time of day (way too early) has something to do with the Uber price. Hope the Doc visit goes well.

Have never had moles/gophers, etc. so getting rid of them has never been an issue. Red ants, however…

FCM, glad FCD seems to be doing better, but still get him checked out, OK?

Sensei, good luck to the kids on their sailing adventures.

OK, need to get more or less organized and finish up the computering so I can take it on in. Take care all.

We got a call at breakfast - his appt has been changed to Moanday at 7:10 - we will be there. He didn’t much argue about it, either.

Breakfast was mega-yum and we’s both stuffded! Not only was it more and better food than at the Leonardtown cafe, it was considerably less expensive, even considering the longer drive. But now we’re home and I’m about to do the pool installation, such as it is. I’ll try to post pics, because I know you’re all beyond curious!

Off to labor!!

Mornin’, everyone.

It’s 58 and sunny outside. High temps will reach 70F, and clouds will move in later today, followed by rain this evening.

Catglove, I’m so sorry about the news you received.

Nellie, yay for visits with son, daughter-in-law, and pups!

The pest guy came yesterday, and thankfully, nothing was found. Two of the bait stations were empty, but on the other hand, the last pest control visit was in March, so who knows when they were emptied. The traps under the house were still unsprung.

I would love to visit and possibly live in Alaska. I’ve often looked for jobs up there but gave up when my husband stated he didn’t want to leave Washington because he wanted to be near the kids. Half that argument is now moot since my daughter and her family will move away. My son still lives here, though.

Speaking of which, their house went on the market yesterday. I have incredibly mixed feelings about that. I told my daughter that I hope everything goes smoothly for her.

I don’t have any particular plans for today. My husband will visit a friend who just had open heart surgery a week ago, but I’ll stay here. To ensure J gets his rest, my husband won’t stay long.

I might head out to the nursery today because today will be the only day to play in the dirt due to the rain coming Saturday and Sunday. Oooh, wait, I need to get my tabs renewed. Damn it. I forgot to renew them last week. I’m not usually this late! :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Looks like I need to hurry up with my coffee and get in the shower. Dang it.

And Rumpole got it from H. Rider Haggard’s book She.

Pool time!! Well, it will be when it’s a tad warmer and not threatening t-boomers. By then the water should be less, um, brisk. Our well is nice and cold.

Moooooom, your pool looks nice and refreshing.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels done / folded / put away, a load of clothes in the dryer, the beginning of Friday chores done and ready to do floors. I do need to stop for prescriptions and car tags while I’m out and about procuring provisions today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Until the kids get it… :open_mouth:

Taking a breather, then I need to attack the disaster that the basement has become. Too many toys, so I’ll box up the ones that aren’t being touched and let Daughter decide what she wants to do with them.

MIL has been fretting about her electric bill in the new place. Bear in mind, it’s less than half the size of the other apartment and only 2 people living there, but she worried that her bill would go up. Well, the first bill came in, and bear in mind it was for the first partial month she was there. $7.19 - I’m not sure what day the cycle closes out, but I’ll be surprised if her monthly charge is over $60-70 unless she runs her a/c really cold. We shall see.

I’m still being a bum - no motivation left.

Mornin’, kids!

Interview went great, imo. Lots of smiles and nodding when I said things, and I took exactly the allotted time. They’ll be interviewing people through the end of June (which confirms my expectation that there’s a lot of competition for this job) and will be contacting for second interviews toward the middle of July. Time to sit and not-think-about-this for a while. You know, do some actual work at my current job.

Love to CatGlove and Mooom, I’m very sorry that people y’all love are poorly. I hope the medicos are able to help both situations.

So 2 people were out in the Mezz, and the senior Senior Clerk called out. And apparently Managements brains called out, because they forgot to flip the power switches to half the belts in the building. So I did it, like I was a responsible adult or something. Then I was running the 200 and the 100 Slide by myself till the boxlines went down. They did send WB and Hazardous Ken to help at the end, at least.
WB: “dogbutler, what do you need?”
dogbutler: “Gin and a flamethrower.”
Wb: “Uhhh. I can’t help with that.”
I shall nap before the next shift, while Spot has the zoomies.

Yay!

That’s crazy talk!

Excellent!

Also, I got a automated form email celebrating my anniversary at Brown. I feel all warm and fuzzy.

I didn’t get as much done last night as I wanted to, but I still have time today to finish packing, etc. I didn’t sleep well–kept waking up because…well, you know why. I even took melatonin. Only 13 more days until the MRI.

I’ve had friends who lived variously in Juneau, Fairbanks, and Kodiak Island. The person in Juneau loved it except for the ultra-conservative politics, the one in Fairbanks hated it and moved to San Francisco just in time for the big earthquake. (Not hurt but apartment destroyed.) And the guy on Kodiak Island was nuts, but he was bonkers before he moved there. I lived in northernmost central Montana for 10 years. That was enough frigid wilderness for me. Also, I haven’t quite forgiven Alaska for Sarah Palin. Parts of it do look absolutely magnificent, though.

FCM, sorry for the appointment delay.

For some reason, I read “moles/gophers” as “molesters.” I’m glad you haven’t had to deal with moles, gophers, OR molesters tunneling under your lawn.

cookie, good luck with the physical. Sorry you need a knee replacement. Is this your first?

This cracked me up. Hope you get rain soon!

FCM, what a great little pool!

I really liked sitka and would move there in a flash. Most of the places I wasn’t to move to are cold places, near water, but cold.

Today I am w f h. I had to step away a bit due to big storms rolling through. The lightening was crazy and I’m by a window.
