(Old) Flyboy’s Birthday🎂in the new MMP~

You joke, but Alaska was on my short list of “places imma think about moving to” when I got the hell outta TX.

… I was informed that, as a female with all her teeth, I could easily get laid in a hot minute.

But with my insomnia, moving somewhere where the sun doesn’t apppear for weeks, and then doesn’t :imp: off for weeks … just seemed like a bad idea.

This sounds like this will be very beautiful. If possible, I think we’d love to see a pic when completed (at least I would).

Has anyone heard from nona/ace lately? I’ve been concerned about her and her husband. I can kind of relate. Had a very bad call from Hubs Hematology/Oncology Doc this afternoon about the results of the bone marrow biopsy. Cried for about 20 minutes, developed headache, thank goodness for you folks to distract me. But it’s not about me. I’m very afraid for Hubs. So, for dinner I went and picked up pizza from his favorite pizza joint and made a salad. More chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert. Glad that our daughter is coming this weekend for a week; she needs to spend time with her Dad.

I slept almost the entire day, but I’m still tired and grumpy.
I booked an Uber to pick my son up in the morning and made sure he has a house key.
I cannot believe how expensive it is, 33.50 for 8 miles!
My doctor’s appointment is early, by my standards, and if I go get him, I will have to rush to get ready, and I don’t rush too well.
If he gets out early, and I think he won’t, then I’ll have to go get him.
I hope not, I am hurting worse today.
I hope he doesn’t have OT tomorrow.

I just finished filling out the 19 pages of paperirk needed for tomorrow.
I have to update and print out my pill list and my allergy list to add to the pile.

I see Nona/Ace on FB and she and her husband seem to be doing well, CatGlove
I’m sorry to hear that your husband is not doing so well.

red I have no idea what you are talking about…silkscreens? But I’m glad you’re having fun and purging stuff from the shop is always good. Plus go, Ukraine!

D’oh! flyboy I do that save for later thing with da jungle way too often.

niner Good luck on the interview!

As to me, I got a message from one of the gift shops I work with that he’s running out of my stuff. Coincidentally, I had just started making some more stuff for him this morning.

Stay safe and happy, y’all!

I would show you the finished work except it’s someone else’s wedding album, complete with pictures and I don’t own that intellectual property. At some point, I’ll likely be working another sample album style using stock photos that I will share though.

Hugs to you and your hubby.

I’m heading to Seattle tomorrow to visit son and wife and celebrate Mother’s Day. Better late than never!I can’t wait to see son and wife and the pooperspuppers. Son will take me to the Apple Store to get my computer checked. It healed itself overnight, but he doesn’t trust it. Normally DIL and I go for long walks, but not this weekend. “Only” 2 more weeks until the MRI. It’d probably be faster to ship up to Boston to find my wooden leg. (If you’re not a Dropkick Murphys fan, please ignore.)

CatGlove, I’m so sorry about the bad news phone call. I hope when you get to talk to all the specialists, the situation won’t seem so dark. One way or another, we’re all here for you. {{{{{CatGlove}}}}}

FCM, that sounds like a wonderful kindergarten graduation! All I recall from mine was my class singing, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and turning pen lights off and on. Since we weren’t too swift, I’m sure we blinded half the audience. Roxy’s sounds MUCH better! I can’t wait to read about the dance recitals. And I think Roxy will make an excellent doctor!

You know what they say to women moving to Alaska: The odds are good, but the goods are odd.

Sari, that does seem a bit high for Uber. Maybe it’s “surge pricing”? It’d be worth paying it, though, rather than having to rush and maybe being late.

I wanted to be a mommy or a queen. It didn’t occur to me that there could be overlap. I knew lots of mommies but very few queens. (I’m counting the queen of hearts, the queen of spades, queen-size beds, and Dairy Queen.)

Yaay! Excellent news!

I am stealing this (if I ever get back to the gym)!

OOOoooh! You are diabolical, Mr. Bear!

I am so full. I gave that German dinner tonight, and the sauerbraten turned out pretty good, and so tender. The apple cake I make for dessert was from a Dr. Oetker recipe book my parents bought for me in 1990, on their first trip to Germany. The potatoes and green beans were good, but the meat was the best.

FCM. maybe you need someone to help get FCD to the doctor. Not in terms of support, but in standing back and holding the firearms to make sure he actually goes. I kid, I kid of course.

I checked in before leaving the house today and was so happy to read this. I’m joining my voice to the “make sure he gets to the doctor” crowd, some people are just horrible about that.

Sometimes having a not so smart cat is a good thing.

She’s testing you. Her whole doggy world has been turned upside down and she needs to know where she stands in the pack now. I think the long leash is probably your best option until things settle down again.

You also sleep with a cat. Cats can convince us to do very strange things with our blankies while we are asleep.

Which is why you can’t breath at night…

You have an entire internet mob on your side, of course you are going to get there! Go you!!!

I’m with SWMBO, cats and other critters often die from eating poisoned rodents.

Dad was in the hospital cause he fell and broke something and he had a roommate who was in traction. His roommate had gophers and tried to drown them by sticking hoses into their hoses and turning the water on for a day and night. The next morning he went out to look and the wet ground slid and buried him chest deep and broke a lot of bones through the pressure.

So…don’t do that.

Sounds very pretty! I’m glad you are getting paid for doing something fun.

:people_hugging:

I am so very sorry. Is there anything I can do from across the country? Besides pray, I mean?

Pain tends to make many people grumpy and stops good sleep from happening. I sure hope your doctor will have some answers.

Hurray for money, that’s always a good thing.

Summer has finally hit and did it with a vengeance. It was over 80 when I left for Tai chi and it is 80F at 1900. Our water bill is going to double because we have lost two trees to the heat and I refuse to lose anymore if I can help it.

Our porch plants are doing pretty well, and my new stuff is looking pretty happy as well. I am going to have a very pretty yard just about the time we have to move closer to town.

Class was good, when I started I got mentally whiney about 20 minutes in, now I can do the entire class and still feel good afterwards. NF said that she can tell that her balance is improving already.

A new person showed up and the after class gab session was about the surplus boxes so hopefully someone else will join us and help keep that perfectly good food out of the landfill. (I shared my tips about where to be in line…don’t be first because those boxes will be rushed and won’t have some of everything. Don’t be close to last in line because when the volunteers can see the end of the line, they look at all the food they have left and start stuffing trunks. Be in the middle, you will get a box with some of everything instead of a trunk load of everything they can stuff in your car.)

Currently, GG is pouting. He was snoozing on the end table we have under the window (for the cats) and VBC was sleeping on the bed. A sparrow landed on the little ledge on the windowsill and VBC was instantly awake! She shot across the bed, landed on GG and then danced around on him while smacking the window to try to get the flying fud. GG has never been so insulted in his life and the pouting is hysterical.

I’d love to see it!

My colonoscopy: the prep was fine so far as that goes. As I mentioned, I used Sutab, which is two courses of 12 tablets plus a lot of water several hours apart. Both rounds made me throw up, but I managed not to until after the pills were digested. I drank more fluids to compensate. As compared to the liquid prep, the geyser effects were slower to come on and lasted less time. The clinic was splendid and professional, paying careful attention to my other medical considerations. They did knock me out with Propofol. Unlike Michael Jackson, I’m not dead. I awoke to hear about Baby’s First Tiny Polyp, 1 mm at the cecum. I’ll get the pathology report in about two weeks. As compared to the Versed plus whatever else that they used last time, I was instantly awake, alert, and reasonably able to balance, with no retrograde amnesia. My lovely wife took me to Starbucks for a breakfast sandwich and a mocha.

JtC, can you use grey water on the trees? I was surprised how quickly bringing the shower up to temperature filled buckets.

We’re pretty sure Creamsickle died from eating a poisoned mouse. (This was pre-catio.) OTOH, moles would die underground.

We were able to have our last place plumbed for gray water use, but we bought this place shortly before the world ended and haven’t been able to find anyone who will do it for us and we can no longer do that sort of thing ourselves.

I would love it, not because of the water bill but because I’m an unashamed tree hugger and try to conserve and recycle as much as possible.

My friends have all gotten used to getting and returning reusable bags full of surplus produce because I try to avoid single use plastics. It’s actually kinda fun when people recognize my bags because they have probably had each of them in their hands as well.

Dying critters do strange things. I’m still on her side.

Back in the late 60’s a neighbor of ours back in CA used to hook a hose to the tail pipe of his old, badly tuned pick-up truck and stick it in the mole holes. I donno if it ever worked, but it was pretty entertaining to see how far the nest extended by looking for puffs of smoke.

We solved that problem by moving to somewhere too fucking hot for them. That might be a little extreme for you.

They actually had an attachment for that at the hardware store. (Sold out today.) It just seemed a little ‘Final Solution’ to me, and squicked me out. (Now, with the new molehills, I’m re-thinking.) SWMBO says she’ll pick up some more Sonic Spikes tomorrow.

I think I’ve got a late squirrel under the house somewhere. It kinda smells like it. But fuck 'em. If’n they’ll stop chewing their way into my house, I’ll stop screwing with them. Until then, there’s gonna be poison in the attic. In 15 years, I’ve had to replace all 4 corners of the eaves of my house from the furry little bastards clawing their way in.

flyboy Is there an appropriate pronunciation for SWMBO? My friend, does it rhyme with bimbo?

Our area doesn’t permit household grey water reclamation systems. Go figure. I use white 5-gallon buckets.

I little shorter heaving tonight. I’ll be doing for a bit, at least till the one girl comes back from leave.

She’s on FB daily.

{{{{CatGlove}}}}

I missed this bit. So sorry.

Seriously. It’s not like you are wanting to tap off water from your toilets, you just want the shower and washing machine water. Plus the swamp water if you have one.

Saving the planet shouldn’t be this tough.

I’m considering using the 20-pound cat litter jugs with oil funnels to capture water in the shower because they can be capped and carried outside more comfortably. We must take matters into our own hands.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave, Volume 1 for the day.

Yeah, he was so honked at me working so much, he didn’t sing me The Cheese Song last night.
