It’s 47 degrees and mostly cloudy outside, with an expected high of 72F and partly cloudy skies later in the day.
FCM, I’m glad you made FCD an appointment, and I’m so happy you checked in. Those were scary symptoms.
lily, I hope the second round goes better.
The pest guy will be here today. My customer portal said the next scheduled appointment is Friday, but the day before yesterday, we received an email stating he would be here today.
I was in the office yesterday and busy, but the workday ended at last, and I could go home. I have a four-day weekend starting tomorrow, and I plan to relax. Except for Sunday, the kids and grandkids will be here to celebrate Father’s Day. We were planning on grilling, but it looks as though the weather doesn’t want to cooperate that day.
Nothing exciting or terribly illuminating is happening here, just the usual daily grind. Off to wash dishes.
I could understand it if the team was really competitive, but they will only play five games a year and will likely only score a few points all season. TokyoBoy isn’t going to play professionally so I don’t understand it.
I made Western food tonight. Garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, pumpkin soup and steak. Have to take a break from rice or noodles sometims
Maybe.
.
It’s a cool 62 N.O.S. degrees outside. Looks to be another pretty day, high around 82.
One of my friends picked my son up from irk this morning. He didn’t take a key though, so I still had to get up and unlock the door for him.
That’s better than getting up and rushing to get everything together to pick him up.
I was thinking of booking an Uber for him for tonight and tomorrow morning. They want 33.50 a trip.
Maybe just for tomorrow morning, since I have an early doctor’s appointment to get ready for.
Make sure he takes a key and when he gets home, he can let everybody out while I stay upstairs to get ready.
Echo pulled her shit again last night. I am ready to knock the shit out of her.
I finally caught her around 3, then I had to fight with her to get her back up to the house and in.
It doesn’t help that I was pissed and she knew it.
I know part of it is that there is something out there, probably a possum and it just worries her to death.
I think I need to put her on a long lead and when it’s time to come in, just pull her in.
I’m even more tired and grumpy this morning than I was yesterday,
My son may have OT tomorrow and Moonday. He won’t know until tonight and that pisses me off.
People do have lives outside of irk and how are we supposed to schedule stuff if we don’t know wtf is going on?
I’m thinking of rescheduling the appointment, but I’m tired of hurting.
The GR were napping, but Echo jumped onto the air bed and now they are crying because they can’t jump up there too.
I’m the one that needs the damn nap.
Morning all. Was tired early last night and didn’t want to get up this morning, but feeling fine now that the morning Micturition has been performed and Early Meal (Instant Breakfast and a banana) have been consumed. Was a nice night for sleeping, in the 60’sF and I had opened the windows, so maybe that is why I slept so well. Nothing much on the agenda today, might take the computer over to a shop to get it cleaned, it has been getting progressively nosier these past few days.
FCM, glad he’s doing better, but get some food into him and make him take it easy today, and if any of the symptoms return, get him in now (not a doctor, but I play one on message boards…). And you do trust him, but believe in verification, just like Reagan…
Sensei, that’s why I work with the AYSO soccer group, their primary rule is ‘everybody plays’ (at least half of every game). Guess that coach is just too competitive for the level of competition…see it here too.
swampy, about a 60% chance of afternoon T-Boomers here. Stay dry.
shoe, don’t get that much fog around here except in the early hours (like you) and I’m seldom awake for it. Sounds like you had a Carl Sandburg moment: Fog by Carl Sandburg | Poetry Foundation
I must’ve slept with my mouth open - I woke up with a sore throat and a tongue on fire.
Also, I dreamed that my boss told me to go to sleep … and then I woke up. So my first instinctive feeling was along the lines of, “Oh, shit, my manager told me to do something and I did the opposite!”
Finally, what the hell AM I doing in my sleep? I have, like, three or four blankets, and I still routinely wake up because my feet are uncovered and cold, and the blankets are twisted and/or over on the other side.
Howdy Y’all! It’s a dark and stormy mornin’ in south Jawja. Perfect day to be inside and in sloth mode. Tstorm warnins, flash flood warnins, and tornado watches abound! Lots of rain and lots of lightnin’ all around. Since we are not quite right in the haid, we’ve been on the back porch to watch the storms off and on.
Looks like the cool snap is over & it’s fixin’ to warm up.
Michigan locals are ecstatic. I am … not.
But today it’s overcast, at least. I’m waiting on some Dumb Soup to cook up, and working on my mother’s incredibly belated birthday gift. (At this rate, I’m hoping to finish the fucker before the holidays.)
Have gathered up trash and refilled the bird feeder.
Oh, and I’ve had the windows open a lot lately. Also, I washed a bunch of dishes a while back but didn’t put them away.
Today I realized, the undersides of the bowls, mugs, etc. are covered with a lovely, fine coating of pollen.
I got the interview questions for tomorrow and they are utterly banal talk-about-your-accomplishments, how-did-you-solve-a-problem type stuff. I expect to do really well and am now thoroughly jazzed. Still think it’s unlikely I’ll make it past a second round, but hey, ya never know!
I mostly prepped for the interview instead of doing actual work today. Shhhh. Four-day-weekend looms ahead and I am very ready to sleep a lot and do very little.
There’s a mole in the new lawn; granted, not near the Sonic Spikes (of which I’m still dubious), but near the front window. I went to the hardware store, and they’re out of the smoke bombs intended to suffocate moles. All they had was poison bait, which SWMBO said we can’t use.
We just got home from Roxy’s “graduation” - it was the last day of academics at the school - the next 10 weeks will be 2-week summer camp sessions. Roxy will attend the first, then I’ll get her till kindergarten starts in August.
FCD is back to his normal self (for certain values of normal) altho he is tired - DUH he was up half the night. We’re going out for breakfast, then he plans to futz in his shop and I’m going to set up the pool for the kids. Weather permitting, of course - we might get rain.
So, just another afternoon in paradise. I need a nap.
Forgot to share this:
The “graduation” program was adorable. Each child was introduced and the MC read out what they wanted to be when they grew up, what they liked best about the school year, and what they wanted to tell their parents. The most memorable was the kid who wanted his parents to stop using “potty words” - the whole place cracked up, none more than his mom!
Apparently, my granddaughter wants to be a doctor, and she loves her mom more - that cracked up the crowd too. Afterwards, they served cupcakes and fruit cups. Daughter brought a balloon and a rose for Roxy. The weather was perfect and it was nice to sit under the tree and watch it all.
Mooooooom, I’m glad that FCD is feeling better, but still, he needs to take this stuff seriously.
TGIT! I was going to take the small beast to the dog park after irk, but we had thunderboomers right before I got off, so we’ll wait until it dries up a little.
After pulling out a template for the paying gig that I began last night, I wound up doing some sorting and purging of things in that rack. I found out that I had about 2 years of mats for my die cutting machine and enough page protectors for the next 15 albums. I purged some stencils and templates that I haven’t used in years (they will go to the craft thrift store).
I’m loving the main color on this project, a sapphire blue with a sheen. The complimentary color of the wedding is yellow (the bride’s family is of Ukranian ancestry) and the flowers are centered around sunflowers. I’m going to have fun putting this one together.
Howdy Y’all! We continue to get precipitated upon, but rumor has it it’ll go away sometime tonight. However, it looks like it will come back and visit early part of next week. We broke fast for sup and 'twas good. Now we are in chill mode.
MOOOOOOM since RoxStar wants to be a doctor, isn’t it wonderful that she has a little brother to practice on!
CupCakes the worst is over, but yesterday was a doozy for weather!
I ordered some 550 cord to repair the rudder extension/retraction on my kayak. The package came last week, and it contained a soap container for my Dopp kit. I thought the 550 cord was just slow. Turns out that I’d saved it for later, instead of saving the soap container for later. So I had to reorder order it yesterday. I should have it in a week.
I don’t feel like making pizza tonight, so I offered Oscar Mayer hot dogs with optional hot dog chili sauce, or Costco giganot-dogs, or leftover Cuban roast pork for dinner. Wifey doesn’t want dinner. So I’m boiling a couple of small artichokes for myself.
Evening all. True to form, outside of visiting the sweat factory…er, gym this afternoon, pretty much a nothing day. Am thinking about making a second visit this evening to pedal off a few more calories, but there are tunder-boomers about right now so I may be satisfied with the early workout. Will turn on the dishwasher either tonight or tomorrow, it’s pretty well-stocked. Outside of that a night of reading and internetting is the plan.
FCM, congrats on Roxy’s graduation and her ambition to be a Doctor; my ambition at that age was to be a train engineer. And keep an eye on the old coot…er, FCD.
Flyboy, good luck with the mole problem.
Niner, fingers and other appropriate appendages crossed for a good interview tomorrow.
Y’all ever thought of getting a job in Alaska?
Cookie, on the pic; hope the air quality starts getting better up there.
OK, looks like the rain has stopped for now, so may make a dash to the gym. Get a lot of reading in while my legs are working the pedals, about 30 pages left in my current story. So we’ll see if it or my pedal time gets done first. Have a good evening/morning all.
When TokyoSon was in first grade he joined a small soccer group that one of our friends has started, and had hired a coach. In second grade some older boys (3rd grade) from an other elementary school join. They were on the soccer team at school and practiced soccer very day. Their mothers were looking for a chance to play on the weekend as well.
The team suddenly went from very poor to excellent, but it meant that TokyoBoy got zero playing time and we found another sport for him.
