(Old) Flyboy’s Birthday🎂in the new MMP~

Her apartment is 555 sq ft, all electric, so it may be comparable. I know a couple of times, her electric was over $200 in the last apartment. And I have no idea why she was afraid it would be more in an apartment that was barely over 1/3 the square footage of the last place. Honestly, I wonder about her mind, beyond the memory issues.

New pool, so definitely the first time.

Not University of Package Sorting?

Just when I thought the t-boomers passed us by, the sky opened last night and gave us a good soaking. I may or may not mow today - but I might be able to whack the ditch, or not, we’ll see. The only other plans for today involve some painting of sandpiper medallions (are they medallions when they’re wood and not medal?? < snerk > ) And I want to run to Aldi - I like their Loven Fresh Italian bread and we’re almost out.

I have a very sore throat and I suspect sinus drainage, since I’m snuffly, too. I’m more annoyed about it than unwell. We were both pretty tired last night, but I woke at two-stoopit-AM and took a while to fall back to sleep. I even had to get up to brush my teeth because my mouth tasted nasty and that kept me awake - weird, huh?

Anyway, so begins another day. Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 87 and somewhat N.O.S. but may get cloudy. Who knows. I think it rained a bit overnight. If the motivation hits, when it’s dry enough out I may accomplish mowage. Or not. I will also make up the chikin sallit for the sammiches. We shall assemble them in the mornin’ and OYKW will have sammich bringin’ duty as I will need to leave before him. Anywho, maybe mowage, chikin sallit makin’, sloth, nappage, and general overall uselessness are the plans of the day. Any need to feed will be via forage as we have plenty of sammich makin’s, chips and so forth.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning all. Got a load of underwear in the washer right off since I used my last pair yesterday, so not going anywhere until they are done. Also want to accomplish mowage early before the temperatrue nears 90F again. That should take care of most of the manual labor for the day.

FCM, hope you feel better soon. I have electric for the AC and gas for the heater, so my gas bill should be small this month and electric will be…larger. Combined they seldom go over $200 except at the heights of summer when the AC is a 24-hour proposition.

Boo fae, enjoy the music. Nice to have a performance site in walking distance.

JtC, friend needs to listen a bit better, methinks. I love tomatoes in a sammich or strewn about my salad, but never have cared for tomato paste on anything…just the fussy eater I am.

suzie, I’m impressed.

Enjoy; doesn’t get much better than that.

OK, sounds like the wash is in the rinse cycle, so soon heading for the dryer. All y’all take care and have a good Sattiday.

Niner, I’m glad you felt good about the interview. I’ve been on both sides and it’s not easy either way.

dogbutler my daughter is in love with Spot.

The kids had Day One of the sailing competition. They haven’t said that much for a while so they didn’t so as well as they wanted.

For some reason, SenGirl was in an pissy mood as only adolescents can be. She needs both help and independence, and trying to figure that one out is like trying to ice skate across a steep, frozen roof in a midst of a gale. You’re pretty much screwed no matter what you do, so you just try to not take it personally. Fortunately, there are other parents there who can laugh with you (out of sight of the Pissy One), because the other options are not . . . hmmmm. You fill in that one!

SenBoy also wasn’t happy at times, but fortunately for not as long.

But, they both also had fun with new friends they’ve made and they like competing.

A friend explained to me that one of the roles of parents is to help kids “contain” emotions when they get overwhelmed, so I suppose that was my task for today.

After all that time that they are being pissy, when they get over it and suddenly everything is forgotten, it does take a bit to let go of it yourself.

There were a few other Western fathers there, so that was nice to make some friends myself. I talked to some Japanese fathers as well.

One of the Western fathers is a pilot and looks like he’s doing very well. Very beautiful wife. He’s got two sons, the older one is just a half year younger than SenBoy and they are already become friends. The two boys are really good sailors so SenBoy’s got a lot of work cut out for him.

I was drafted to help out on the signal boat, which was an interesting experience raising and lowering flags. I had a really good view of the race as well.

We’ve got Day Two tomorrow so I’m off to bed.

Join the crowd, sengirl!

Your sail race day sounded fun, especially the signal boat crewing and I think you nailed teenagers perfectly. One of mine I am still waiting for them to grow out of that tetchy stage. He’s 39.

Good morning.

It’s 54F and cloudy outside. The clouds will remain with us all day and the daytime high will be around 64F. I may or may not get to mow the lawn. We’ll see if the moisture can hold out for a bit.

Spot is indeed a handsome boy, doggio.

I hope you start feeling better stat, FCM.

I pulled some weeds yesterday and accomplished a few other minor chores. I need to run errands today. One of those errands includes running over to WBU to pick up a new tube feeder. My husband has decided he’d like a larger tube feeder to replace the finch tube feeder because it doesn’t really get the traffic he wants to see. That might have something to do with the fact that it needs new seed/thistle mix, but he doesn’t believe me. I will get another stand and hang that feeder elsewhere in the yard. I do see the goldfinches on it a lot.

I guess the kids are seeing a lot of traffic on the house. It may sell sooner than I had hoped. I know my phone will blow up when my mother finds out. They haven’t told her yet, and I firmly told them they will need to tell her. I think they’re waiting until the house is sold, which I get.

Welp, time to unload the dishwasher and then hop in the shower.

You could always go commando. :d&r:

doggio, I believe I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, Spot is a handsome puddy tat. The tipped ear just adds to his swagger, kind of like a monocle.

It sounds like you all are having a fun weekend sensai. I’m glad that you and your kids are meeting new people doing something that you like.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to make the caprese salad for SIL’s birthday party before KP.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Happy Saturday!

Too much going on and I feel like crap.

I went to the pain clinic yesterday. Very messy as the rain was pouring down.
The doctor wrote me a script for some Tramadol which I’ll pick up today. I’m always nervous about taking pain meds, but I have been assured it will not mess with my head too much.
This is only temporary though. I have to get an MRI of my back and he wants to give me some kind of epidural. I also have to get x-rays of my feet and ankles and see a podiatrist.
I am not looking forward to all of this shit.
I told him I know I need to walk more and go to PT, but… and before I could finish, he said that is hard to do when everything hurts. I said yes, because I don’t even want to get out of bed in the morning because the minute my feet hit the floor, the pain starts.

In the bad news department.
There’s a man who used to come to the dog park, we all called him ‘creepy eyes’. He is creepy. Even though he is married, he has come on to just about all of us women. Several times both Lucy dad and Coco dad have stayed longer than they intended because creepy eyes was there when younger women were there, and they didn’t want the leave the young women alone with creepy eyes. He’s never said anything in front of me, but both guys have said that he has told them what he’d like to do with the younger, more attractive women in the park.

His dog and Echo fight, they get into it as soon as they see each other. Just as much Echo’s fault as it is his dog, for some reason Echo hates his dog. But his dog is not the nicest dog, and now he has another pittie. I also don’t want his pit around the GR.

Anyway, Lucy dad texted me that creepy eyes was there this morning, no dogs, and he was talking to Barky/Humpy mom. I called B/H mom to make sure she was okay, and she told me he told her he is coming back to the city park. Something happened at the county park, he didn’t say what, only that he wasn’t going there anymore.
I told her, don’t be offended if I go on the small dog side from now on. I don’t want his dog anywhere near the GR, and I don’t want Echo fighting with his dog.

Echo stopped her bullshit of refusing to come in. I don’t know what happened, maybe the possum or whatever stopped coming around.

B/H mom said my son actually talked with her when she drove him home the other morning.
My son survived the Uber ride as well. He was very nervous about it. I let the driver know he is a bit on the shy side and she didn’t say anything more to him than hello and goodbye.
It may have been more expensive because of the time of day.

Misiu has started humping Echo. Whenever she lays down to play with the GR, Misiu climbs on her back and humps away. I’m surprised she hasn’t taken his head off yet.
They go Toosday for their final shots, and then I can put them in daycare and start taking them to the park. As much as I love them, I am looking forward to daycare day. Their energy level has really gone up in the last week, and they are busy busy busy into everything.

I gave Goo and Abbey their gooshy food yesterday, and there were ants at Goo’s station.

We live with spiders. We battle fruit flies every year. Sometimes a wasp will get inside. But in the 19 ½ years I’ve lived here, there have never been ants in the house. Must be the new lawn giving them nicer places to live.

I dumped the dry food and water, rinsed and dried Goo’s gooshy food dish, and fed the cats. When they were done, I dumped the spillage (dry food) from Goo’s tray and washed it, washed Abbey’s ‘rinse and reuse’ paper plate, and washed all of the cat dishes. Then I sprayed Goo’s corner with 409 (works a treat on ants), and sprayed the carpet along the wall to the front door, the door sill (where there was a trail of ants), and the trail of ants along the outside wall of the house. I just checked a few minutes ago, and I don’t see any ants anywhere.

There are new mole hills in the new lawn. Does flooding the tunnels with a holes work? I might try it, and stand by with one of my machetes.

A line of cinnamon around the bowls will keep the ants away. They don’t like to walk through it.
Also, if you set their bowl of food in a pan of water, it will keep the ants out of the food.

TERRO works great at getting rid of ants.
They will carry the poison back to the nest and wipe it out.

Whew! We went to MIL’s after a McBreakfast. Her doc changed the dosage of her thyroid meds and we had to get the new pills. We also talked to them about switching to Consumer Cellular from Verizon - it’ll save them some $$.

Back home, we uncovered the pool and discovered the top tube was mostly deflated. I refilled it using a shop vac - boy was that quick!! I also put a little bleach in the water and set up a foot-rinse pan. Daughter is bringing the kids over this afternoon, I think. I’m still waiting for a response to my texts.

Then I tidied the firewood piles and brought the cut up wood from the side yard to the wood pile. It’s supposed to be dry for the next few days and I left the wood uncovered since some of it was wet. I helped FCD tidy his shop and run a mahogany board thru the planer. Not sure what else I’ll do - maybe more painting when he runs the next couple of boards thru the CNC router.

Good Times!!

Terro also isn’t toxic to pets.

It amuses me that Brown is the degree that would impress people on my CV, but was actually the easiest of the colleges/universities I attended.

And an early afternoon to all. Laundry is done and mowage has been accomplished, so those were the major tasks for the day. Also hooked up the new sprinkler units to the outside nozzles, we had enough rain in the past few days that I don’t need to water the lawn right now, but as long as I was doing stuff… Might even get out and edge the lawn later today, we’ll see how much ambition I still have.

Sari, sounds like creep-o may have gotten the boot from the county park, sounds like he bears watching from everyone…and document. And hope the Tramadol helps.

Sorry, I always wear something between me and my pants zipper because… :astonished:

Taters, I take it Momma doesn’t approve of her grandbaby moving away.

Sensei, never been a boat person, but sounds like everyone is having fun, so enjoy it.

OK, do some TV’ing and reading and try to decide on gym vs. edging. Take care all.

So as I walk up to the guard shack, I hear a loud buzzing, like they were running Ol’ sparking at full voltage. turns out the industrial bug zapper had had it, and was trying to short itself out, and burn down the building. Other than that, a reasonable heaving. Now it’s naptime, assuing the unhinged manic lets me.

Except he sound like a 6 week old kitten, so that kinda kills all the swagger.

Spot almost bagged one last night, but Fred managed to scuttle under the dryer.

Morning/afternoon/evening, all! I don’t have a lot of time to post, with a game starting in 40 minutes, but I have been reading. Hugs to all having a rough time, yays to all with the good things. Glad to see you back, Sunny!

I’ve been having a great time at the con. My body has allowed me to make every game I signed up for, though I did have to leave one early because the ulcer flared up. Still, I’ve been having a lot of fun and am being quoted a lot. A few instances of tech troubles, but work arounds were found. Today, I am playing Amy in a Doctor Who companions game. I love Amy, so I’m really looking forward to it. This evening, I’m running my second Leverage game, for which I still have no plot and I’m still waiting on one character. It’ll come together, though.

Now I’m off to make sure my tech is working before trying to hop into the game. Wish me luck, all! And have a fantastic Caturday!

Re: The moles. SWMBO said, ‘OK. You can kill them if you want.’ She didn’t say I couldn’t use poisoned bait…

Also, she bought another Sonic Spike. This is a different brand that has a ‘chittering’ tone that supposedly sounds like a distress call. I put that in the yard.

I got a flower pot and a couple of potting shovels, and collected the mole hills. Got about a gallon of dirt. I stepped on the disturbed grass.

I cannot believe how badly screwed up CA is with our utilities. My bills can run 5x that, and we don’t heat the house in the winter, and use the AC about 2-3 hours at night. We have solar too, which is kicking in to help with the electric.

I endorse this. We don’t get ants often, but when we do the Terro works vey well.

It sounds like fun. I’d like to start playing again. Currently my moves in that direction have been buying math rocks and dice boxes. I don’t need them, but they’re so pretty. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Unfortunately, poison bait can kill cats, hawks, dogs - any animal that my predate on a poisoned mole. Hopefully there’s another way to do it.

Today I overslept and didn’t get to gardening before it got too late. We’re planning to head over to the farmstead in a little while, and I need to decide if I’m making a Brooklyn chocolate cake or strawberry shortcake for Father’s Day.

I had a molar pulled about a week ago. Currently the challenge is figuring out what to eat that’s easy on my mouth.

Take care and Happy Saturday!

Yes. But I reckon moles die underground. They’d just become fertiliser.

Of course there’s always the nuclear option.

Put cat poop down the holes and then cover the holes with used kitty litter. Or, if you have a zoo close by, you can probably buy some raccoon, coyote or hawk poop to use if your overlords don’t produce enough.

Long night shift. Thinking of getting a sammich on the way; can’t always eat dead (e.g. messed up order) pizzas.

Had a weird night, enjoyable but I hafta have some thinks about what happened. G.C. was not involved. I really don’t wanna go into details.

Sorry to be cryptic. Gotta find clean socks and drag myself back in to work. Y’all have a good evening.
