The kids came and played in the pool. Now they’re dressed and I’m draining the water out. Nothing else will be accomplished today.
What an excellent day!
Mrs. L.A. came back from the hardware store. I went out to carry in the propane tanks.
One of the mole hills I took the dirt from and tamped down was back. Then I saw movement. I went and got a machete. I hacked, then stabbed at the movement. No blood on the blade. A couple of minutes later, I saw some more, less energetic, movement. Stabbed there too. Cleaned up the dirt, tamped down the sod, and now we wait…
Howdy Y’all! Mowage did not occur, but chikin sallit got made, so I was a little productive. We had some quality cee-mint pond time, but not too much as it’s mostly cloudy and waaaaaay hyooomid. Still, we managed to day drink whilst out there. I also started workin’ on some interview questions for when we do interview candidates for a new Priest. Two of us on the committee are workin’ on that with input from the other members as we request. The goal is for the two of us to come up with a list of twenty questions, get opinions from the rest of the committee, then pare it down to no more than ten to twelve questions. What we are aimin’ for is enough for no more than an hour long interview per candidate. If we do have a round two of interviews, perhaps we can draw from questions that we haven’t used. It sounds like almost a plan!
Early evening all. It’s 93F outside so gym won over lawn edging for ways to sweat, so that has been accomplished. Then checked the bank account and decided that it’s no use having money if you don’t spend it now and then, so bought tickets and parking pass for the Huntsville FC soccer game tomorrow…it’s minor league, but they had over 4,000 at the first game I went to and it looks like they’ll have at least that many this time. Also bought a parking pass on-line, since that was a major hassle last visit (apparently they do not believe in cash there). So that will be my activity for Sunday.
And just got a call that my computer is ready, they checked it out and no problems noticed, so maybe I wasted $79 but still good to have the experts check it out now and then.
Flyboy, am enjoying the continuing saga of “Johnny_L.A. vs the Mole People”. Sounds like nuking them from orbit is the only way to be sure…
swampy, that sounds like a good idea on the questions, more than 10-12 feels more like an inquisition than an interview…and nobody suspects the Episcopal Inquisition!! (and if I got your denomination wrong, just go with it…)
shoe, hope the thinks go well.
Real Fish, Amelia Pond was one of my favorites too; enjoy the games.
OK, need to dress appropriately and retrieve my computer. Catch y’all this evening.
Made the trek up the lake and dropped off stuff at the gift store. He asked for some new items, some are easy, some are more difficult, but since I’m waiting on starting the next project til I get paid, I think I’ll do ‘em. Finger Lakes themed cornhole boards? Piece o’ cake. Walnut and maple chess board/set? A bit harder.
I ordered a fried chickie dinner from the Chaptico Deli and Daughter picked it up. We’s all stuffded and the noisemakers have gone home. FCD and I are facing a quiet evening of chillage. Woe.
Yeah, right, woe…
I have a cheap, fake, M3 fighting knife that’ been rusting in a drawer in the catio. Mrs. L.A. used it for weeding today. I wonder if that would work better than a machete?
It’s only 15 o’clock, and Mrs. L.A. has finished dinner. She made ramen. I’m heating up the Cuban-style roast pork (Oh – She used some in her ramen) and I’ll have a very early dinner of pork in Carb Balance whole wheat tortillas. She’s made herself a mojito from the mint in the herb garden and the simple syrup I made last week. I’ll have one too, in a bit.
That’s no fun!
sari, our dog park has a version of creepy eyes too. He makes a bad attempt of using the dog park as a pick up place and gets kind of creepy with it. None of us women will be the only one on the small dog side with him.
We got SIL feted and a good time was had by all. I’s tah-red and have a couple of extra chores to do tomorrow, so I may make a bit of an early evening of things.
I have noticed that hubs has not once taken a male to the vet for snipping. He’s taken the girls in with no issues, just couldn’t arrange time off to deal with the boys. Since he worked for the private sector so got very little vacation time and I was a government worker with lots of PTO, I didn’t really notice for about 20 years. I was the one who took GG in, but I made fun of hubs when I brought GG home.
She is living in an entirely different world than the one she was in last year. Every thing is new and different and she doesn’t have her best friend to help her figure things out anymore. It took Mom several years to get out of the grief fog, she would also worry overmuch about small things like that.
We are all electric and run around 200 a month as well. AC doesn’t run our bill up as much as winter because not only are we heating the place then, I tend to boredom bake when it’s dreary out.
While I know that some folks put homemade tomato paste on things just as it is, we usually put it in things to thicken the sauce.
I like to garden. Every year I put in a veggie garden (no quibbling about tomatoes being fruit, you guys know what I’m talking about). Like all home gardeners, I like to maintain the fiction that growing my own veggies saves us money, so I process everything I can and everything I make is much better than can be bought in a store. So says me!
Your daughter has very good taste!
I know you don’t want them to go, but it really would be better for them if their house sold sooner rather than later.
How old is he, I forgot. GG started humping VBC about a week before he got snipped. She used to bounce his head off the floor for it, but he never figured it out.
I didn’t know about cinnamon, thanks!
We kill ants with food grade diatomaceous earth. Use a puffer thing or a sifter and sprinkle it on and around the hole and the ants bring it into the nest.
Awwww, poor lil guy. Ferals don’t meow because cats don’t “talk” to each other like dogs do. They don’t want to be heard by prey or predators. House cats meow because humans are so stoopid they need someone to tell them what to do.
It sure sounds it, I’m so happy you are happy. You deserve it!
Up from naptime, laundry is put away. Having a gin martini with the Roku gin, to match tonight’s Asian BBQ stir fry.
Yay!
Well, Yay! or {{{shoe}}}}, depending on what is needed.
Somewhere in Dog Heaven, Gordie is yelling “SEE, I TOLD YOU SO!”
I suppose if we had the same issues that female plumbing gives, we’d have fewer issues with it.
Yeah, he’s a chatty little guy, we have long conversations is Catlish.
Whenever I got home in the rain and came inside to get Gordie to go out, I’d use “Amelia Pond, get your coat!”
I can report that after 13 years, my non-socialized can meow that the big kitties! Real meows - not just tiny little kitten sounds! So Spot might learn.
I once had moles.
I also had dogs.
The dogs would each lay by a mole hill with their mouths open.
One dog would start digging and before long, you’d see one of the other dogs snap their jaws shut and swallow.
I wonder if Adam had been feral as a kitten. He never meows, and only does pathetic little mews when he is trying to get our attention. He tries to chirp I think, it’s a weird noise he makes when he is happy to see us.
I have known more than a few men who think neutering males is cruel.
Misiu will be 12 weeks on Toosday.
Starting a little young, I think.
Spot is most definitely a handsome dude.
My electric bill is never very high. It may get up to $90 in the summer time. Our water and electricity are provided by the city. The gas bill more than makes up for the cheap electricity.
It’s a shame dog parks have creeps show up, Red.
There have been many times when I was the only woman there and the worst that happened is I got bored listening to the men talk football.
Happy interviewing Swampy!
Happy gaming TrueFish
I took a Tramadol, very low dose I guess, 50 mg. According to the insert, people can take up to 400 mg a day.
After reading the side effects in the insert, I wasn’t sure I wanted to take it.
I still hurt, but it took the edge off.
Of course he will now that he has a talky slave to boss around!
I’ve heard that at adoptions as well, but happily hubs isn’t one of them out loud. He’s just really good at avoiding things he doesn’t want to do.
He thought I should take GG to get snipped because he wanted to get up early and mow my clover patch. I don’t think he even knows why he wanted to mow the clover that particular morning TBH. He willingly went to pick GG up after the deed was done, and was the one who wanted me to move the snipping appointment up after VBC started bouncing GG’s head on the floor. I think he still had hope that GG might grow another brain cell at that time.
That’s how weed works for my hip. I still hurt, but I don’t care as much.
I wish. I’m just soldiering on. But if I think of anything, I’ll let you know. Greatly appreciate the prayers, Thank You!
And thank you to everyone for the hugs and support.
Have not heard of this being done here in the Mitten; I’ll have to look into it. I run water into a pail/5 gal bucket or into bottles when bringing temp up to warm/hot for showers, washing dishes and doing laundry then use it on the garden. Also an unashamed tree hugger.
Stripped daughter’s bed and washed sheets, pillowcases and mattress pad. Then in afternoon received call that she won’t be coming until tomorrow; too much stuff to do before she can come for a week. One thing is getting her artwork ready to ship to some show. I didn’t know she was going to enter her artwork into a show. Exciting, will get details tomorrow.
FCM that looks like an awesome pool. Roxstar and T should have a great time in it.
Niner Glad you received positive feedback during your interview; that’s encouraging.
Did I hear that they’re facing potential strikes?
The vote was 97% strike authorization.(I voted yes). at the very least, we got A/C for the drivers. which is good. Because if I left a pet in a car is summer, they’d arrest me. but the $19million CEO thinks it’s OK to let driver deal with that for 9.5 hours. And us warehouse workers would like better fans.
I may need a fainting couch.
Have fun at the games, truefish
doggio Good on you for the vote. I’ve become, well not really friends, but guys I like, with my delivery guys, and they seem to be pretty good dudes. And shouldn’t be out there without AC.
FCM What are the cons on leaving the pool set up all the time, so the water isn’t well temp cold? Can you get a cover to keep out leaves etc?
The squirrels have figured out how to get to the bird feeders. I’m not sure how. 1/16" cable with 12" polycarbonate round baffles, so they aren’t getting down the support cable. I think they may be jumping up and catching a bit of one of the feeders. Also, the little bastards are clawing their way into the bird seed container. Imma thinkin I’m gonna stop feeding birds, cuz it attracts squirrels, and I’ve got enough problems with them already.
Someone I love watching keeps being defeated by those fuzzy tailed rats.
If you like that, you will love his porch pirate boxes.
