(Old) Flyboy’s Birthday🎂in the new MMP~

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization followed by a reception. In a little while the chikin sallit sammiches shall be made. Kind of a sad day as this is the Holy Closure of the Lutheran church that has been a part of us for the past twelve years, but also kind of a happy day as there will be one last confirmation in the Lutheran church as a part of the service. After all that it will be back to da cave for nappage and sloth. Might even get in some quality cee-mint pond time what with the weather bein’ so nice. Any other need to feed to day will be via forage.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, sammich makin’ and purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all! Happy Fathers Day to all the Mumper fathers of creatures human and otherwise!

I did get a sheet of plastic to cover it - what we need is some sort of framework to keep water from collecting in the plastic. We’ve got a bunch of PVC pipe scraps that I might be able to make work. We shall see.

I looked out this morning and the stoopit thing didn’t drain completely - not sure why but I’ll figure something out. It’ll need to be hosed out, too - the kids didn’t do really well rinsing their feet so lots of dirt and debris floated around.

I took a snort of Nyquil last night - my poor nose was dripping like an old faucet and I was coughing till my chest hurt. Alas, the drippage and some coughing started again. ugh. I’m thinking I’ll use one of the DIY COVID tests, just in case.

Assuming I’m not at death’s door, we’re going to take the boat name signs to the boat to see how they look. They still need the clear coat, but before we do that, we want to make sure they look OK. That’s the only big plan for the day.

Happy Sunday and Happy Father’s Day!!

Morning, mumpers! It’s slightly cooler here today, 20c/69f with a predicted high of 22c/71f, and cloudy. That fits with what’s outside the window today. Weather app says “Clouds don’t always protect your skin from harmful ultraviolet rays, but that’s because they’re fucking dicks.”

Mooom hope you’re feeling a bit better today and you manage to get outside for a while.

Swampy shame about the closing of the church, but good to be a part of its future too.

Doggio good for you with the vote - our support staff union is voting on strike action too, I said yes to that one.

Real Fish glad to hear you’re having fun doing something different!

shoe cryptic sounds like it might have been good? If you’re happy for you, then I am happy for your too

{{{{{sari}}}}} just 'cos.

Fun day was had yesterday, watching bands and day-drinking in the park. We got home and picked up pizza for dinner then headed for bed once the cats had been tended to. Same this morning, got up and first job was feeding the mogs, then cleaning litter trays before my first cuppa of the day.

I have nothing planned apart from a soaky bath, some slothage, and it’s my turn to make dinner tonight. Lunch shall, of course, be leftover pizza…it’s tradition! Day 2 of the festival is starting soon in the park but none of the bands are of any interest to us so we didn’t bother getting tickets for it. We’ll still be able to to hear it from our house though, the windows are open and the park’s not far away.

Happy Sunday, and happy Father’s Day too!

No plague - just a cold - sniff sniff

So there’s that.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean the apartment, and the “Father’s Day presents” Spot left me in his litter box. Spot is currently staring out the sliding glass door at all the foods frolicking in the leaves, and remembering how raw rodent tastes like. :chipmunk:

I love watching American Ninja Rodent!

That’s because you’re supposed to swallow, not snort. :stuck_out_tongue: But hope you feel better.

JtC, we were talking about the boy snip thing at the party yesterday. My niece had just had her dog Toki snipped. Her son objected to the procedure, but didn’t get a vote, since he didn’t own the house where Toki was marking territory. My nephew was the same way when his mom had the late Diddy Boo snipped.

sari, the most that I get out of pain meds is having the edge taken off enough to have a life. I hope that these do the same for you.

Good on getting some concessions on your vote doggio.

Feel better soonest Moooooooom.

Happy father’s day to all of the Mumper dads out there.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, Sunday dinner (a pot of white beans and a pot of mixed greens) cooking, cornbread muffins thawed from the freezer and fixing to do KP.

I’ll give Dad a call today, rip a few CDs to sync to the mP3 (something I’ve been gradually doing) and work on the paying gig in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

flyboy, you have to win this battle! We are on the edges of our seats!

Everyone who has cats! SenGirl loves them and listens to all your stories.

We finished the race today. It’s so much work for both the kids and us. I was in the signal boat again, tasked with raising some of the flags. Things need to be done on very rigid sequence for the racers so they can get their timing right.

It was really fun, although they didn’t do as well as what they had hoped because they haven’t been sailing so much recently.

It’s a good sport and they really like it.

After two days on the ocean, I’m tired!

The rodent(s) will lose eventually, even if I have to resort to mechanical action as I did yesterday.

I like that fist boat (#6). It looks like a Sabot I used to sail when the Lidos and Capris were unavailable. The Sabots were eight feet long, and had a triangular sail instead of a gaff rig. (Lidos and Capris were 14 feet long and were sloop rigged.)

I sometimes wish I had a little sailboat (had a 10’ gaff-rigged one not long after I moved up here); but there’s little time to get out the kayaks, let alone put a boat in the water.

Good morning.

Happy Fathers’ Day to all those who are fathers or in father roles!

It’s 50F and damp outside. The expected high will be around 60F, with morning showers and steady afternoon rain.

The kids came by yesterday because they needed to be out of their house during the day so people could come to view their home. Some dumb-dumb locked one of their cats in one of the bedrooms, so the cat urinated and defecated all over the bed. When they got home, my daughter had to strip the bed and do laundry.

At any rate, I didn’t get to complete all my errands yesterday, but I managed to knock out a couple of them. I guess I’ll get the rest of the errands done tomorrow. The kids will be here early because, again, they have to be out of the house, and it’s Father’s Day, and the plan was for them to spend the day here anyway.

JtC, I know it’s better if they sell sooner. I hope they get their asking price too. They had a lot of traffic on Friday and a good bit yesterday. We are making the most of the time we have left and are in talks to help them out by driving one of their vehicles to Missouri for them. Car transport companies are expensive. I already have two weeks off at the beginning of August so the cross-country drive may be part of my vacation. We’ll have to fly back because I don’t see the point of driving both their vehicle and one of ours over. I mean, technically, we could. It’s around a 30-hour drive from here to where they’re moving, but that would be a lot of driving, and I’d need my son here to watch Polar. I dunno, we’ll see.

I guess I better hop in the shower and face the day. I need to run to Safeway to pick up a couple of items before the kids get here.

Taking a coffee break, since someone has decided to “help” me change the bed sheets for Fahther’s Day.

“Raise the black flag, and let the boaters begin the synchronized sacking of villages!” :pirate_flag: :pirate_flag:

After 25 years of being a manager with no HR training explaining to a series of DM who took regular HR classes that we can’t fire people simply for being in a EEOC class, just having the shop steward do it for me is worth every penny of my union dues.

Optimist is seven feet nine inches. They are nice boats, but much slower than the Open Skiff that our new club is using.

I may have shared this one before.

This is me on the signal boat. It’s some sort of large sail boat and I’m not going to pretend to know anything about it.

Imgur

Sensei, nice pics. Never sailed a boat myself in my life (rowboats were more my speed), but glad you and the kids are having some fun times together.

Taters, hoping the house sells soon; sounds like they have a good deal of interest. And a cross-country journey isn’t that bad a vacation, unless you are on a real tight time schedule.

FCM, glad you are plague-free. And kids and dirt are quite inseparable.

Cat Glove, best wishes to daughter and her art showing.

Sheets are in the dryer and should be well-cooked by now (buzzer just went off as I typed this). Heading out to Longhorn for steak in 90 minutes then going to a soccer game this evening at 6pm–in-between has yet to be determined.

Take care all.

So glad to hear this! We grandmas get to experience the full range of the snotty noses and barfy tummy germs that our beloved grandkidlets bring home from daycare and school just to share with us. Every.single.slimy.snotty.barfy.germ. My grand son currently has hand, foot and mouth disease so I’ve been called in to nurse/babysit because he’ll be quarantined from daycare for at least 10 days.

Even though they are all strangers, I’ll be thinking loving thoughts for that congregation. I remember how wrenching it was to lose your church home when the church I was married in closed. Sending peace and thoughts of comfort and solace their way.

Yes, the Sabots were slower than the Lido 14s or the Capri 14s. The difference between the Lido and the Capri was that the Lido had a retractable centreboard and the Capri had a fixed keel. I preferred the Capri because there was more legroom. The San Diego Navy Sailing Club had a pier and a hoist, so boats were lowered into the water with a winch. Were I to have a boat here, it would need a retractable keel because the bay is so shallow. It’s a long way to the water when the tide’s out! (It’s a little closer at high tide. With the new berm, it doesn’t get as high as the 2018 Solstice storm!)

Ok, so I need to share the adorable story. Knock knock at the front door. I open it to the neighbor son, 8, maybe 9 years old. Sez I, “What’s up?” “Uhhm, I was playing basebal, uhhm, I hit over the fence, uhhm into your yard…uhhm” I tell him come around to the gate. He can’t figure out the latch, so I let him in. He scampered over and got his ball. Gave me a big thank you. I told him if it happens again, just come get it, no need to ask. I had been meaning to tell them that for a while, but never got the opportunity.

Back from the marina and I’m still feeling like crap on a cracker. I did load last night’s dinner dishes in the dishwasher, but now I’m going to hit the recliner and see if I can stay awake and read.

G’morning all, and Happy Father’s Day to the dads, granddads, like-dads and furbaby dads out there! You deserve a day of rest and relaxation!

I’ve been reading but trying to go back among ALL of these posts and make lots of replies is not something I have the brain power to do right now. I’m still in the middle of Con brain fog. I do have a few replies though before getting into everything that’s gone on here.

First, everyone that complimented me on the picture of me in my new dress: Thanks! I think it’s become my new favorite dress. I may take Monday morning to recolor my hair since I don’t have a game until 1900. It should be a shimmery teal that will go really well with the dress.

None of us NEED the number of pretty math rocks that we buy. That doesn’t stop any of us from buying them! If you’re ever interested in Diceless role-playing, that’s the Con I’m at now. It’s virtual every year and free, so it’s a great way to dive in and have fun.

On the note of playing, I found out one of my friends that I used to game with is moving back to the area in August so I may actually be able to have a live gaming group again!

metal mouse, I didn’t quite get into Amy’s head like I wanted to, but she was still a lot of fun to play and very useful. I was the only American player amongst a bunch of Europeans but they didn’t hold that against me. Two bits of fun/interest: Me, an American who couldn’t pull off a Scottish accent with a tutor, was playing a Scot. The Scot in the group was playing the only American PC. That American was Canton Delaware III, who was the only one that Amy recognized among all the companions that were there. He came in with Benton and when Amy went over to talk with him, she asked if Benton was Canton’s husband or “friend”. Both were very nonplussed. It was great!

Also, I’m with Boo, metal mouse. Dressing appropriately is rarely fun and I highly discourage it!

Thanks, JtC. I’m happier than I’ve been in a few months, and feeling good enough to actually run a couple more games next year. gulp

I love it! I should do that with the kids. CtE would get it and either respond accordingly or give me “the look”, depending on the day. BtY would ignore me as much as I suspect Gordie did you.

Thanks, doggio, sari, VanGo and BooFae!

Friday was Hubby’s 49th birthday. Mostly, I’ve given him permission for his birthday. He’s gotten really heavily back into MTG and found an app that does give aways and auctions for cards/packs/etc. I’ve told him he’s free to buy whatever he wants, so we’ve been having packages of cards showing up regularly for the last week. I also bought him a similar set of magnets to what I’d bought for BtY after he expressed interest in them. They showed up yesterday, and he loved them. So he’s had a good Birthday and Father’s Day. Next week, I’m going to make a cake for him to celebrate.

Last night I ran my second game based on the Leverage TV series. I had one person that was a repeat player from last year, and one person that the organizer asked if I could take on last minute because his game got cancelled so I had to help him pull together a character. Most of my players were familiar with Leverage and with the system I was running it in (a homebrew that a friend of mine created), but even those who weren’t caught up quickly.

It went better than I could have ever imagined! I actually had planned a bit more for this one than for the earlier one in the Con, and that could have been some of it. But some of it was just the energy between my players and I. For once, I didn’t feel like a fraud, which has been my GMing experience up to this point. I was able to think on my feet, move the plot to where the players wanted to go, and introduce them to the real life small town that I grew up in, to the point where I had several of my players feeding me information about the town that I haven’t been to in probably 10, 15 years. Not much changes in that town, and I did take some liberties but it all WORKED and that was the best. Even though it ended at midnight for me, I was stoked through the whole thing and even had a bit of trouble falling asleep. Luckily, I didn’t have to worry about waking up Hubby - he slept in the living room because he had a game at 0400 and didn’t want to wake me when his alarm went off at 0300. I’m looking forward to running again next year, and this second group even wants to come back as a team to run a second half of the plot I’d set up. If you couldn’t tell, I’m STILL hyped about it all.

Today, I have two games in which I didn’t create the characters for. One is a full on pregen. The other is generated by the GM based on some info I gave him about the character. It should be a lot of fun either way. Tomorrow is the last day of the Con and I actually don’t have one in the early slot (though Hubby does) so I’m going to try to focus on other happy-making things.

The kids have been pretty good while Hubby and I have been occupied. When we’ve asked BtY to empty the dishwasher and CtE to fill it, they’ve done so without fighting too hard. BtY has been spending a lot of time outside, wandering around the apartment complex with his headphones on, finding sticks to play with. CtE has been staying in their room quite a bit, playing D&D and video games with their friends. I feel a little bad because they’ve been wanting to go out and walk with me, but with everything going on with the Con, I just haven’t had the energy. Tomorrow, hopefully, I’ll be up for a walk since we have more time.

So those are the high points from my little speck on the earth. Hope everyone has a fantastic day/night/whatever and I’ll see you all in the next MMP!

Had an Amazon package show up while I was at work, which made me nervous because it was toilet paper, and I’m down to my last roll because I live life on the edge of danger.

Crisis averted, but I’ll admit to a big sigh of relief when I pulled up & saw it safely waiting for me.

I see what you did there.

We had a laaate close last night, didn’t get out till 2:15 a.m.
Since I hafta be back at 3 today, I was like, “See y’all in about twelve hours!” Gods, I’m pooped. And with it being Father’s Day, I guarantee we’re gonna be pretty slammed today.

Yes. I don’t like feeling all floaty though. Somewhere I will find a happy medium.

Do eet.

Mooom I hope you feel better soonest. Congrats on being plague free.

Congrats! It sounds like a lot of work, but fun too.

My folks did this for me when I moved back from Missouri. It was a big help. Whereabouts in Missouri are they going? We were in Columbia, which is about halfway between Kansas City and Saint Louis.

My mom was a teacher for over 30 years and refused to join the union. I’m still horrified. I unionized the second that I could.

Swampy sorry to hear about your church. :frowning:

That sounds awesome. I’m looking for some remote games, both for me and the kiddos.

Could you let me know what the app is? I have some first print cards in very good and new condition and would like to sell. We play with the newer sets and I would like to some money. Money is good.

We’re having a family Father’s Day at my folks, with my sister’s family. I’m making a huge pork shoulder roast, and we’re having corn, mashed potatoes, salad, rolls, key lime pie, and strawberries dipped in chocolate. I got some farm stand strawberries and they are amazing. All other strawberries should bow down.

Tuesday we’ve got a new mattress coming. We’re “sleeping” on a 10 year old foam mattress that was a demo model that we got for cheap. It’s awful. I wake up in pain in the middle of the night because it’s so unsupportive. I’m really looking forward to the new one. Hopefully it won’t suck.

Other than that plans for the next few days include hours of empty box flattening. Hubby wants to keep every box we used during our move. My entire hallway is full of carrdboard boxes and I am done with it. So completely done. We’re this → < – close to being on a hoarder’s show and I hate it…

Take care and happy Sunday!

shoe be sure to check if swampy is off his fainting couch. ONE ROLL OF TP IS A NATIONAL EMERGENCY.

sensei I looks like you had fun. Back in the dark ages (I’m talking pre WWII), my father participated in the Mackinac Island boat race.

I sold a saddle piece on FB. The buyer lives about 90 minutes from me. We met at a McDonald’s at the truck stop off the tollway at 8am this morning. I was a little foggy, but it was a 15 minute drive, I made $25 AND had a sausage McMuffin with egg for breakfast. I forgot how good those are.
