(Old) Flyboy’s Birthday🎂in the new MMP~

Just finished breakfast at 0940. Cheese omelette-and-bacon sandwiches. (i.e., one egg with cream, salt, and pepper, in a large pan, cooked until set. Put a slice of cheese in the middle, and fold the edges over. Put on buttered toast with three rashers torn in half.)

It’s pouring rain. It has to, because it’s Trash and Recycling Day. It should stop around noon, so maybe I won’t get wet.

A year and a half ago, the European green crab invasion made the news when the Lummi Nation (not to far from where we live) captured 70,000 of them.

Hm… I wonder what we can do with them…?

Nice!

Are they edible? Tasty?

This is my question as well.

Good to see you, Sunny!

“These do not taste as good as our native red rock and Dungeness crabs. They do not get as large,” McDonald said.

The green crabs favor shallow muddy spots that could be difficult for crab boats to reach.

Even if people could be convinced or catch and kill green crabs — by persuasion or even bounties — there’s a good chance they’d kill the wrong ones, according to state wildlife officials.

“The vast majority of reports that we receive, where people think that they found a green crab, it’s not a green crab. It’s a native species,” said Allen Pleus with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

That said, this page has a link (.pdf) with seven recipes for European green crabs.

Could they be used as animal feed?, I wonder.

The PEI government have looked into using them for fish feed. Personally, I like the idea of using them for batteries. If we could reclaim the shells discarded by restaurants, we’d already have an infrastructure for processing the shells of the invasive crabs. The problem is catching them (as noted in the link above).

I’d like to thank you for inspiring me to make something similar just now.

I needed something hearty, filling, and full of protein. This hit the SPOT!

… off to go feed the masses again.

It’s a lot less messy to eat than a scrambled egg sandwich. Nothing falls out.

Of all the acronyms this one can be confusing. MIL, BIL, DIL, FIL are all apparent who is being talked about. When I saw this, I first thought, Gee, I don’t remember red having a daughter who might be married, then I remembered, Oh, Sister-In-Law. Not saying that SIL shouldn’t be used as I do remember that you said you were getting together with her, just didn’t remember it in the instant.
To tell the truth there was a time when FCM used SIL and I thought Sister-In-Law, huh?? then I remembered, Oh, Son-In-Law. Getting old is sometimes hard on the old synapses.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they get Over Ask. That’s happening a lot these days. The kitty-corner neighbor who was Hubs’ buddy got $3,500 over ask several weeks ago.

Sunny sounds like a great Father’s Day dinner! Very nice to celebrate with family.

Did he go from Chicago to Mackinac or Port Huron to Mackinac?

Went to mass, made sharp cheddar cheese, tomato, red bell pepper, green onion and parsley omelettes with bacon and toast, watered the garden, Krogered. Need to clean daughter’s room and the dining room table so she has a spot to WFH this week. Should be here in about 2 hrs so I best get a move on. Having salmon, broccoli, pierogies for Father’s Day dinner with Key Lime Pie for dessert.

Howdy Y’all! ‘Twas a nice, if a little sad, service this mornin’ followed by a very, very nice reception with all kinds of munchie foodstuffs that made for a quite good N.O.L. for the both of us. Still don’t want anything to eat. I also got a bottle of birch beer, which I had never had before. Well, we both got a bottle. Anywho, we got back to da cave, put the bottlestrong texts in da fridge, and achieved nappage. I put both bottles in da freezer for a bit to get 'em iced cold. OYKW wasn’t too sure about it, so I let him have a sip of mine. He was not impressed. I, however, really liked it as it tastes like root beer only a little lighter. Since he does not want the other bottle, I shall have it later. Win-Win for me!

Sunny my church (St. Patrick’s Episcopal) didn’t close. The Luterun church that has been meetin’ there did. They were down to a very few members and could no longer do the stuff needed to be a church by themselves, so voted to close and today was the Holy Closure of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Most, if not all, of ‘em will remain and continue to worship with us whiskypalians. Some may even decide to become whiskypalian. Some may leave and go to another ELCA church, though the closest one is about forty miles away and meets twice a month. I have a feelin’ that most will continue to identify as Luterun but hang out with us at St. Pat’s. That is perfectly fine as both churches have a concordant nationally that allows for that.

OK, I’ve babbled on enough. Hope everyone who is feelin’ poorly is doin’ better soon. Hope all the fathers have had a happy day.

Laterz!

It’s all in the context.

Your sailing weekend looks like a lot of fun sensai. Like metal mouse, I’m more rowboat style. I grew up on the lakes and we had rowboats, outboards and canoes. On our small rivers, we would take canoes.

Got all of the Sunday chores done, called Dad and did some studio work. The white beans and mixed greens came out exceptionally well. Now, I’s full.

Some groups associated with building US pilgrimage routes are talking with low-congregation churches about shifting part of their space and mission to hospitality, including bunkrooms and hostel-style kitchens, as a way to earn money and retain the structure and grounds.

No boat for me. The river where I fly fish is mostly just waist deep on me unless they are generating electricity at the dam. Once in a while there will be a few parties who rent canoes, but other than that it is just mainly people in waders

Drove the MG to the supermarket. Got some keto buns, lettuce, tomatoes, and ortega chiles. And chips for The Missus. I can has cheeseburger!

Chicago to Mackinac Island.

My sis and BIL put their condo on the market last Wednesday. Sunday the accepted a cash offer for $10k over the asking price. There was no bidding war. The buyers loved the condo and wanted it. Crazy.

I am beset with the dumbest flies in existence. Ok, so you land on the screen, let me open that for you…nope I’ll just flit around the kitchen.

Daughter posted her vacancy announcement on Firday and almost immediately got 2 resumes. Hope she gets a few more. One seems promising, and I expect she’ll schedule interviews soon.

My cold seems to be subsiding - my throat isn’t raw but my nose is drippy still. I dozed a couple times and I may sleep with Mel. Thus endeth my weekend?

Every once in a while both of my functionin’ brain cells bump into each other which causes me to remember stuff or to do stuff. Today they caused me to remember to look up whether or not tomorrow will be trash pickup day. So off to the website I go and sure ‘nuff tomorrow is a holiday the trash picker uppers take off, so no pickup. Thus biiiiiiiiiiig trash can will have to wait until tomorrow evenin’ to be hauled all the way down the road for pickup on Tuesday instead of Moanday. Go Me!

Lily that sounds like it could be a good and very creative idea that would benefit a lot of folks.

MOOOOOOM glad you’re feelin’ better. Hope daughter finds the right person soonest.

VanGo I’ve had birds fly into my screened in back porch on occasion. I’ll open both doors so birdie can make an exit, but it seems birdie always wants to head bang on the awnin’ for a couple of minutes before flyin’ out.
