(Old) Funny things you overheard in the MMP

Back to the drawing board a the aspen hallway colour. Le sigh…

The pink with purple spots is sounding good right now.

We did decide on a landscape plan for the beds on either side of the entrance, getting a lighting designer for the security lights, and put spring decor in the lobby.

On a rather cursory glance at Amazon, I’m leaning toward stainless steel for easier cleanability. If color becomes relevant, it’ll most likely be blue, since both DH and I favor that color. You’re right that cats don’t care about that detail :).

FCM, thanks for the review article link. I might or might not choose one of their recommendations (this isn’t happening any time very soon), but I now know some useful selection criteria, such as dishwasher-safe and how quiet the unit might be.

hugs

Oh, I’m glad that it’s almost time for bed. Tomorrow is another day, right? Well, I had my appointment and he altered one of my orthotics. He said if if it didn’t feel better in a week that I needed to talk to the doctor again. Here’s hoping!

I also had an appointment with my therapist and it was a good thing. Before my appointment I got a phone call from my job. I have to make final decisions on what I’m doing in ‘the future.’ The thing is, there’s been so much going on in the last couple months that I’ve kind of lost sight of what it is that I actually want to do in the future. So, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life and I need to start making some decisions. I do have legal counsel and I have contacted them to see how I should proceed. Hopefully they’ll get back to me soon. There are a couple of things that I know that I need to do, but I’m not sure how to do that I think will be difficult to do, but ultimately will help me feel better. I think I’m rambling. Sorry. Maybe I should just figure out a game plan for tomorrow and then go to bed.

Goodnight, everybody!

Happy Thorsday!

It was 27 feels like 20 degrees this morning, so no park today.
My son is really sick, so we wouldn’t have gone anyway.

He’s been sick for about a week. He debated going to irk Toosday night, and decided to go. Then he asked for vacation days off. He was sick enough yesterday to talk about going to the doctor.
I think he will be okay, probably just a cold.

I saw Lily mom when I dropped him off Toosday night. OMG she looked like hell.
Her father got pneumonia and almost died. He has a DNR but the hospital ignored it.
Now he’s good, so I guess it’s a good thing the hospital ignored it.
Then they had an ‘incident’ at work that day, which led to having to airlift somebody to the hospital.
I didn’t get the details, as I was more concerned about her father. She said the guy who got hurt is fine.

My son has had a few incidents, but nothing to worrisome.
Once he dropped a stack of totes on his foot. He said it hurt but didn’t think much of it until he tried to take his sock off and it was stuck to his foot from the dried blood around his toenail. He’s tossed empty boxes down to the chute, only to have the fan blow them back into his face.
The worst I think was when he picked up a bag of coffee. Whoever opened the carton cut into the top of the bags and when he picked one up, a fan blew coffee into his face, and eyes, and hair, and nose, and mouth. He’s been hit in the head a few times too. Somebody will be on one side loading the shelves and sometimes they push the stuff too far and the person on the other side gets hit. But it’s only light stuff on the top shelf.

The dogs love the doggie door. They want it open all the time.
It’s a lot easier for me, and when they can let themselves in and out they don’t seem to mind so much if one is in and the others are out.
Echo is such a …
If Rayleigh or Misiu come in and want a treat, as soon as I give it to them they will run outside with it and you can almost hear them shout, ‘Hey! Mom’s handing out the goodies!’. Echo and the other GR will come in for a treat.
Let Echo come in and ask for a treat, she’s not taking it outside and letting the others know. She will sit right there in front of me and ask for more.
She still will lay her treat in the middle of the floor and dare one of the GR to go near it.

Happy Travels, JtC

I’m trying to catch up with y’all but I think it will never happen.

Why do people keep insisting that we figure out what we want to do when we grow up?!? Stomps cane in aggravation.

I do wish I had seen such a link back when we were looking around the store. There are so many different styles and materials. Do be sure to get a rubber placemat to put under the fountain. It will help contain any cat slobber but will also silence the noise quite a bit.

As I have no self control at all, I started my new mystery piece and yes, it is coming with us. I’m already working upside down because I’m too lazy to reach all the way across the canvas - plus it exercises my mind. I will post a pic once the first bits are done and I know they are right. The one thing I do not like about this designer is that she has you start on the upper left corner instead from the middle and picking out a center spot and working around that is just so much easier for me.

I will hope it’s just a machinery glitch.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Reminds me of when Nellie K. Beagle came back from walkabout. She took the Kong, walked over to me, sat down, and when Gordie came over to get it, bit him on the nose.

“Sit on a yacht in the caribean drinking high test cocktails and have you pay for it” is off the table, I guess. But good luck on things.

Bother.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 65 and rain all day. Looks like rain tomorrow as well. So, I guess there shall be a day in da cave. Whatever will we do. I know, sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’! What a novel plan! We usually go grab some kind of N.O.L., but I think maybe today I shall make salmon patties, peas, smashed N.O.T. and bizkits for sup. Comfort food on a rainy day sounds like a good idea.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.!

Happy Firday Y’all

Doggio, that sounds like an excellent plan. And thanks.

So, in respect to the title of the MMP, but not exactly the same. Here’s a (slightly) funny thing that I realized much too late!
Yesterday morning I had something with a few chocolate chips sprinkled on it for breakfast. This morning I happened to look at my [light grey] shirt that I was wearing and I noticed that it had a nice big splotch of melted and smeared chocolate down near the bottom hem. Ahem. I had been wearing a shirt with an ugly, suspicious smear all day long. :poop:

Yep, hilarious.

Ok, so anyways, I am up and getting ready to eat breakfast. According to Annie I had better hurry up because she wants her part, too!

Have a fabulous, chocolate smear free day!

Woke up at 0500 to the sounds of the parking lot being plowed. The storm delivered several inches, as advertised, and it is still coming down lightly at the moment (0600). There is a second (and worse) one coming behind it. The wife cancelled her appointment with the dermo rather than go out in the weather. Unfortunate, as she is suffering from a rash and these appointments are hard to get.

Speaking of doctors, I’m going to have to see someone about this bursitis issue that is persisting in my hip. Hopefully a shot of cortisone will take care of things. The joys of aging, n’est ce pas?

OMG !! This cracked me up way more than it should have! Echo is a piece of work!!

I used one of the rubber mats that came with my car because Higgs is a drippy drinker. The mat gets most of the overflow most of the time. I used to just put a towel down, but it got saturated too fast. Idiot dog - I don’t think Ziva is nearly as messy.

MIL’s pantry included a can of salmon - how do you make your patties?

Awoke to 28 Ferrets this morning!! Yeah, happy spring, dammit! Rain is supposed to move in tonight and into tomorrow. and we’ll get close to freezing Sat and Sun night, but after that, we may be done with the low 30s and below. Let’s get on with it - I have plants that need to go back out on the porch, dammit!!

Being Firday, it’s laundry day - rah! And since I’ll be down there anyway, I’m going to haul a trash can into my studio and start with the clean-up. I think I can attack it in a way that’s not overwhelming - starting next to the furnace and working clockwise (more or less) around the room. So that’s the plan. And I’ll remind MIL how to call me via Alexa’s drop-in function.

Speaking of MIL, the search for a Bible study for her isn’t faring well, as I feared. She wants a group of old ladies, but the churches around here have much younger congregations. She’s complained about the music of several that she’s visited and the Sunday school classes apparently focus on issues of young families. I looked up the churches recommended on NextDoor - some she’s already visited, none have senior ministries. And pretty much all the responses sounded like recruiters…

And I was just interrupted because she walked all the way from her bedroom to this room (the length of the house) without her walker to give me a dirty nightgown. She said she didn’t know where her walker was. It was right next to her bed. Gonna be one of those days. She tries so hard not to be a bother, she becomes a major bother. A simple question like "White, wheat, or rye* is answered with “Whatever - I don’t care.” What do I do with that???

I need to shower and start my day. Happy Firday!!

I use a little flour and corn meal, no real measure to this, I just eyeball. I use an aig, some chopped onion and some salt and pepper. Just mix it all together, form it into patties (I like smaller patties, but you do you) and fry in hot oil until done, which to me means they are a nice golden brown color. I grew up watchin’ my mom and my grandma do this. Mom would use two cans of salmon and make salmon patties for a family of seven, Oh, drain the salmon. Also I mix it all up with my hands, but I do use gloves cause I don’t like touchin’ raw salmon or aig. ICK!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with rain showers. Weather app suggests that we “Think of the fucking rain as a shower for your car. Or truck. I don’t fucking know you”. It’s definitely raining as we found out when we left our hotel to walk down to get a bus to the right airport terminal.

It took about 15 minutes to get to Heathrow T5 from the hotel at T4, and about five minutes to get checked in and through security. Went to the fancy shmancy Concorde Room, had a yummy lunch and am now relaxing in a comfy armchair with a glass of fizz, watching lots of planes passing by. By the time we get off our plane, I will not be living in your future, I will even be in the past for some of you. Dicey will be the only future person!

So are you eyeballing about half a cup? Three cups? Equal measure of corn meal and flour? Do I have to look on line for a recipe?!?!? :open_mouth:

Mornin’ all.

It’s 46 degrees Fahrenheit outside, damp, and cloudy. It’s supposed to rain all morning, with showers in the afternoon. The expected high temperature is projected to be 58 degrees F.

nellie, I’m sending you hugs. I hope the door slammers do not become new neighbors, too.

sticky buns, I hope today is a better day that helps you see your future more clearly or at least lets you find a way to get folks off your back about a decision.

Jtc, I hope the boob squishing thing is just a machinery glitch.

Sari, I always left the pet door open for the pups until we discovered they were taking ALL the toys outside, getting them covered in mud, and then bringing them back in. That’s a nope. So, now we let them in and out, which is a pain but less painful than constantly cleaning dirt and mud off my carpet.
Also, for a while there, the pet door was a big game—in and out, in and out—but they were doing it Kramer style, busting through the door so hard that I swear they were going to break it.

wheelz, I’m glad the work thing got sorted. I hope the game was good.

The pups are fussing, time to let them out of their pen and spend some time playing with them.

Pretty much the same, exccept that I use bread or cracker crumbs instead of cornmeal / flour. I’ve also found that they’re good with the addition of some sesame seeds in the mix.

Here’s my recipe. It’s a pretty easy supper.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, sheets / towels in the dryer, jeans in the wash and everything else on deck. I’ll adjourn shortly to do KP and houseirk. Not a lot else shaking at CasaRoja.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

First the most important: the SPARTANS won yesterday!!!
Perhaps most important to doggio: NC STATE also won!!!
Yay to the Spartans and the Wolfpack :confetti_ball:
BBBoo’s and hippie’s CORNHUSKERS play TX A&M tonight at 6:50pm EDT on TNT. (so possibly 4:50pm out in Nebraska :person_shrugging: )

Would it be possible to strategically position a chair between bedroom and bathroom. That’s what I did for Hubs when He was first home. He’s been using it again this week as the meds that he was prescribed last Saturday has side effects of drowsiness and dizzyness.

Yay for daughter’s interview. Hope it checks her boxes.
Also, I’m annoyed at her former school. You and FCD did all that work last summer to improve it in many ways, not the least of which was technology which is so important at this time.

I make salmon patties just like swampy but I use bread crumbs instead of flour or corn meal. (oops red ninja’d me) and yes 1/2 cup (I like the smaller patties as well.)

Aack! Just looked outside and it’s snowing…and actually covering the ground as opposed to earlier this week when the flakes died before hitting the ground. Daughter is driving back to Chicago today as she has tickets for the Joffrey ballet tonight. Hope the drive back isn’t too bad so she arrives safely.

who proposed? Did you know at the time of the engagement that she didn’t enjoy/wouldn’t do the things you like to do, the adventures you like to engage in? If so, then…

Why was yesterday “HammerDay”?

Great to get positive feedback before you go.

I always take half gallon bottles of water anytime I go to Chicago or on a trip/vacation. The kids and Hubs make snarky comments but I like my water best and why would I want to chance undrinkable (IMO) water.

{{{nellie}}}

I’ve filtered almost 4 gallons of water, got breakfast and pills for Hubs, now need to go Krogering before bball starts up in an hour for the Lady Spartans.

Have a great day! :sun_with_face:

Thorsday, I’m guessing.

See below cause I don’t know how to rearrange quotes.

Thanks for the reminder @Kitten_Mitten:smile:! That’s the boy :basketball: bb game, the girls play :basketball: at 9:30pm CDT. Also against Texas A & M. I’ll be doing a lot of listening to my local AM station. I should be doing something useful with my hands while I listen to 4 hours of bb, like fold laundry or wash dishes, but I won’t.

I have a couple itty bitty Costco frozen pizzas in my freezer-in our dear shoe’s honor I’ll plan on those for dinner. I have some popcorn and cheezits for game time snacking.

GO BIG RED!!!:basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball:

Me, too~crushed crackers instead of flour and cornmeal. Maybe it’s a Midwest vs.Southern thing.

You did know, didn’cha, that you MUST always also serve peas with salmon patties? And mashed potatoes? It’s a rule.

Soon I must leave and go teach my Arabic Speakers Conversational English literacy class. Great ladies, 4 or 5 usually. From Morroco, Irag and Afghanistan. Then they always invite to stay for a social group afterwards-strong Iraqi tea and a plate of cookies. I’m the only English speaker in the room, they chatter in Arabic, I don’t understand a word but the comradery is warm and lovely. I enjoy the time very much, it peoples my world very felicitously every week.

Then I must come home and chain myself to the phone and iPhone and deal with must-must-must do adulting bureaucracy stuff that I’ve put off disastrously waaaaay too long. FCM and @LSLGuy would be horrified with me if they only knew……

Good game last night. The Giants got off to an early 7-0 lead, and were no-hitting the Brewers until the 6th. Looked like it was going to be a rout, but then the Brewers’ offense woke up and they got to within 7-6, including two runs in the bottom of the ninth. They got the tying run to third base with two outs, then lost on a very close play on what was almost an infield hit. I thought he might have beat it out, and the crowd erupted in boos. If it were a regular-season game they definitely would have challenged the call. But the standings don’t mean anything anyway. (Plus, I was rooting for the Giants!) Saw a lot of unknown names trying to make the roster; some were impressive, some not. In spring training, the rule of thumb is that the higher your uniform numer, the less chance you have of making the team. At one point, a batter wearing number 96 was facing a pitcher also wearing 96.

Anyhow, the weather was gorgeous, and the stands of a ballpark is my happy place no matter what happens on the field.

In other sports news, my brother runs an online March Madness pool for family and friends every year. Usually I’m not that great at picking, but this year I outdid myself. Guess who had Kentucky to win it it all? Yep. Pretty much mathematically eliminated on day one.
