(Old) Gobble ‘Til You Wobble, Or Not In The MMP

He’s being spoiled by Sis, but when I get moved to rehab next week, he’ll be brought to visit. I can’t wait!

Happy “You’re Welcome-giving” Day. I was raised to be a polite kid. After somebody says, “Thanks,” you say, “You’re welcome!” There are now many variations on it: De nada, no problem, my pleasure, no prob, hakuna matata, of course, and so on.

Hmmmmmm - I remembered the ammonia but forgot the details. My smoker racks are in the sink with hot water and ammonia. Probably won’t work. But they weren’t too gross since the ribs were in foil. I’ll try to remember next time. OOOOOPS!

Meanwhile, I’m showered and dressed. First load is in the washer and the sorting is complete. Looks like I’ll have at least 4 more loads. :open_mouth: FCD is just leaving for the marina - if all goes well, the swim platform will be installed today.

Our house guests will be leaving tomorrow “sometime.” Unlike us, they don’t get started at the butt-crack of dawn. Not that we have any plans to be messed with.

OK, back to chorage…

So glad you are recovering and also glad your sister is nearby. Being in the horse pistol can be pretty awful if you don’t have someone to help. And poor Nelson! At least he didn’t have to be sent to some boarding place but has Sis to cuddle in your stead. We are all grateful for something new here at the MMP: that you are on the mend!

Mornin’ all.

It’s 44°F and mostly cloudy outside. Today’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and clouds, with a daytime high of 51°F. It became very, very soggy here yesterday and into the night, so it’ll be nice to dry out for just a bit.

Red, I’m so happy you checked in, but so sorry about the illness. I’m glad you’re on the road to recovery, and I hope it’s a speedy one.

Yesterday’s meal turned out very well, was very much appreciated, and the leftovers were put in the fridge for further consumption. Today, I’ll “seal-a-meal” some of the leftovers for my son to take home. I’ll freeze them so he has a bit of dinner later next week or even after. I was too full to eat much because I had smelled it cooking all day. None of us was up for dessert, but we’ll have some today. After everyone ate, we watched the latest episode of Pluribus on television, and then both my husband and son went upstairs to nap. I sat enjoying the quiet and drank some merlot.

My son is here for the weekend, so I’m not sure what the day has in store. I’m sure he and my husband will spend time gaming, and he’s told us he wants to make us some soup for dinner during his stay, too.

Alright, I guess that’s it for now. Please take care of yourselves.

I don’t think I’ll be up for much today. I plan to shower and spend the day relaxing.

This, so much this! Can’t wait to hear about the Nelson reunion at rehab.

Pumpkin pie for breakies again. It will be breakies for the next 2 days.

Advent started at sundown yesterday so I opened the first box in my knitting advent calendar then. A red riding hood small knitting bag. I’ll open number after sundown tonight and so on.

Started laundry. Stumbled across a new to me podcast “words unraveled”. It is on YouTube as well. Love a new rabbit hole/warren. This will get me through bin organizing and beyond.

Science Friday is on, and they’re giving the annual IgNobel Prizes. That’s always a hoot.

Evening all. Happy Friday those who celebrate. Hope those who stufted themselves yesterday are recovering OK.

{{Red}} get better fast!

It’s windy but not really cold here today, at least for the time of year. It’s been pretty miserable all week. My new mini-orchard arrive yesterday, and I wound up having to heel the plants in (basically shoving them in the soil in a temporary site to stop the roots drying out while the proper site gets sorted) in the dark, wind and rain. If the overlooking neighbours hadn’t realised I was nuts before, they know now.

It’s dark by 4 now though, and we still have almost a month of getting darker to deal with. I wish it was socially acceptable to hibernate…

We went down this morning and helped out with putting up the fake trees in the common areas. Then we went to our storage unit and got our new, made in Jinah, never out of the box fake-tree-with-lights, put it together and plugged it in and. . .drum roll. . .nothing. I’ve sent an email to the company, but don’t hold out much hope. I’ll be damned if I’m going to try to test every single light. I’ll cut every damned string out of the tree and buy our own lights before doing that.

Immediate update: I fixed it.

Wednesday it was in the 60s. Today hasn’t gone above 34 ferrets. Plus an inch anna half of snow.

Off today, cuz I’m in tomorrow. I get to make the decision if the playgrounds open for the last day of the season. If snowy, no-go.

red, wow, the words, “ICU” and “rehab” are scary – I’m glad you took your symptoms seriously and got the care you need! May you heal quickly and soon be able to get back to your own life with Nelson. Sending healing vibes your way!

The things I learn here! I’m astonished that a raven will permit such fussing. Harry has made himself quite a loyal friend! Thanks for sharing this. I’ll be smiling every time I spot a raven here.

Boo fae, good to hear you’re enjoying the trip so far. Let the merriment rock on!

Dinner went well, we had lots of laughs and good conversation, I sent my pals home with many leftovers and still won’t have to bother with meal prep for awhile. Dishes done and everything put away. I’ll tackle making soup tomorrow. Today is for bludging.

We picked up the Nursemobile this morning. It was ready Wednesday afternoon, but too late to pick up. On our way to get it, The Spousal Unit gets a text. They’d moved the Nursemobile and noticed an oil spot. (It wasn’t leaking on the rack.)

She’d taken it to Valvoline for an oil change a couple (?) of weeks ago. The RAV4 has a canister oil filter (like my MGB). They’d removed it, taken out the element, and then put it back on with out a new filter element or O-ring. Anyway, it’s fixed now.

Church guy bought me a pair of boots.:woman_s_boot:

So a couple of loaders didn’t show up this morning, so I was loading. First 100 Middle white, then Middle Green. Not too heavy volume for either set. Then I got pulled off to go help on the Slides, The 300 Slide sent over something like 100+ packages to scan/data enter/address correct. Plus a huge amount of damages and retapes, plus stuff from Wednesday that nobody got to do earlier.
< tells FT Sup about 3 Hazmats >
< time passes, no one comes >
< walks over to Hazmat area >
Me: “I have 3 Hazmats on the 200, did they forget to tell you?”
Hazmat guy: “I knew about them. Oh, yeah Brandon did radio it in, too.”
Me: “In that case, I take back all the things I said about Brandon in my head.”
I got out at 12:45, and then did my Teeter shopping. I got home at 2, and the hockey game started at 5:00, so it was a short nap, and I’ll hit the hay right after. Well, after the martini, salmon, and rice, peas, and wild rice.

Definitely.

You’re a RDOS, and it’s a post holiday weekend. that’s exactly what you should be doing.

You and Roommie.

< ships bear suit to Nut >

From what I’ve read, to win the friendship of a raven or crow is to win Klingon level loyalty.

Cool. You’ll need it.

Howdy all. This was my ‘wander about’ day a so I did something I haven’t done in 30 years, a "Brew -n-View’ day visiting the Arch and the Budweiser Brewery. Twas nice to see the changes and also those things that didn’t change, like the film on the building of the Arch, which is the same as it was in the 1980’s. Then about 90 minutes at the Science Center and some driving around before getting to Brother’s house where I am currently slothing. Weather is due to turn nasty tomorrow so we’ll play things by ear.

Red, you take care and get better soon. Scritches to Nelson.

And have read all but not processed much, so will try to do better later. Take care all

Howdy Y’all! As stated earlier, this has been a day of high RDOS inactivities. I did take some ground beast outta da freezer to thaw. I will make slow cooker chili tomorrow. The weather is cooler, so I figure chili with fixin’s and cornbread will make for a good sup. In other news my DAWGS swatted the GNATS 16-9 at Mercedes Benz stadium in Etlanner. I call it Janis Joplin stadium cause when I hear the name I immediately start in with “Oh, Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz.”

red glad Nelson will get to visit you in rehab.

Coppertone yay for new boots!

MetalMouse glad you had a good wander around St. Louis.

Cookie glad you got the lights on the trees fixed.

FlyBoy I trust it was Valvoline that made good on their mess up.

I used the opportunity of visiting with my sister to book a vacation together, something she hasn’t wanted to do for many years. We’ll spend several nights in Costa Rica and go look at two-toed sloths.

Negative. Wifey, RN took the Nursemobile to a local place adjacent to NAPA to check out the howling/whistling. They determined that the thermostat was faulty, the hoses were leaking (they showed them to us today), and that the alternator was failing. Then they found the leak, and they fixed it (as they should have, considering the rest of the work was over $2,100). The Wife says she’s not going back to Valvoline for at least six months.

I highly suspect it has something to do with Harry’s ever full treat pouch. If raven is in Harry’s study, all he has to eat is shelled peanuts, the poor bird. Or he could fly out his bird door and eat bugs and snails like a common forest bird. :scream:

Harry has a big house with many bedrooms and bathrooms. His kids and grands have plenty of room so are staying until Sunday. Every time I look out at his place, I see at least one little out with a hotdog, trying to befriend their own raven or crow.

While I’ve happily lived in small towns for most of my life, I’ve not lived somewhere that people stay for generations. James the cultist is a retired high school math teacher. He taught Harry’s kids and some of his grands. Everyone knew him when he rolled in the door and everyone was shocked to know that he was disabled and alone.

Nobody thinks their school teachers have a home life, many youngsters would get shocked when they saw Mom the grade school teacher at the grocery store.

James in on Medicaid so the nursing home takes all of his money except for 50 bucks a month. This is standard. James tutors students online for under the table money and now has two more students.

I’m glad I thought to invite him.

I”m so happy. That’s the most important part of any shared meal

Please don’t let all of that power go to your head!

So our late feast was good. It was under 40F all day so the bird smoked slower than expected and we were a little late eating. I knew that would mess with Hub’s meds so made sure he had cheese, salami and deviled eggs.

After the fuzzbutts got their turkey tribute, I not only moved the kitchen island so I could mop, I also picked up their fountain and put it in the dishwasher. I will be sure that my slippers are safely locked away in the closet when I go to bed tonight.

I need to get up early tomorrow, now that I can’t have more than one cup of coffee a day, I don’t want to waste the experience by slamming it down on my way out the door.

Off with me, I’ll check on everyone tomorrow.
