(Old) Gobble ‘Til You Wobble, Or Not In The MMP

Three days of prep and dinner was done in about 20 minutes.

A helpful hint after the fact: When you make stuffing, use a baguette, if one is available. Slice it into about 1/2 inch pieces, then cut the slices in half and slice them again, making sure a piece of the crust is on each piece. Throw all the cubes onto a cookie sheet and toss it in a 200F oven for about 30 minutes. You get nicely dried pieces that won’t turn to mush when you add the liquid.

The wife did clean-up, bless her heart, but I need to work up the energy to cut everything off the carcass. Right now the tank is empty.

Not in my experience. The deli section of the store where I used to work sold them, and I bought some at least once a month for several years.

:+1: :+1:

Just got home from Subvets. The usual fare: turkey, dressing, mash, cranberry sauce, gravy, sweet potatoes, corn, rolls, and both apple and pumpkin pie. Didn’t think I was eating that much (two servings of turkey, but on the other hand no gravy or corn), but I definitely feel stuffed. Be interesting to find out how many meals were served at the clubhouse and how many were delivered.

It is her non dominate hand. She is a lefty

My high school coach also taught Phys Ed. He once yelled at me during a game: “You throw like a left handed girl!” It must have been a prophecy…

She must sleep in her recliner for the next couple of weeks until her follow up visit. The doctor warned her about rolling over in the night

Dinner was nice. Turkey, stuffing, mashed, fruit salad.
A hershey bar pie was in the making but I went home before it materialized.
Hoping we dont get too much snow as I dont have boots, just tennies and no slip work shoes.
Reading Last Rites by Ozzy. A depressing book; lot of mentions of his numerous health problems.

Howdy Y’all! We laughed. We drank. We made merry. We gobbled ‘til we wobbled. Everyone was gone by a little after three and we needed nappage. Don’t think we will have any trouble sleepin’ tonight. The dishwasher has finished sloshin’. I feel the need for Netflix and chill. Hope everyone has had a great day.

Hippie wishin’ Sunflower a speedy recovery.

MOOOOOOM you should teach RoxStar “Gloooooooooria in eggshells a day old,” Hope you found your schwump sauce. My body temp runs right around 97.5 to 97.8.

BooFae glad y’all arrived safely. A ramble down a back road is always a good thing. Have fun at the concert!

Rocker your Turkey Day couture will no doubt be the envy of all!

MetalMouse glad you made it safe and sound.

doggio what holiday decor could ever top a Waffle House snow globe!

52 I am sure your appetizer will be the hit of the gatherin’.

VanGo the very thought of a grocery sto’ on Turkey Day makes me want to clutch pearls and fall on the faintin’ couch!

JtC TIL about bird diapers. Ignorance fought and wisdom gained! Now to use this tidbit of knowledge at a cocktail party.

shoe enjoy your bougie fish aigs.

Not all of the stuffing would fit in the carcass, so I ‘buttered’ two ramekins and cooked some dressing in the toaster oven (covered, 350º Ferret Height). Didn’t need the carbs, but it’s been a long time since that breakfast burrito. The Spousal Unit said it was a good snack. She wrapped up an orange sweet potato and put it into the oven earlier. I’m like, where’s that smoke coming from? The foil-wrapped potato was leaking.

The timer said the turkey is done, but I used a separate thermometer, and the stuffing was only 135º so it’s in the oven for a while more.

Ain’t that always the way??? But we were at the table a bit longer than that, mostly waiting for the kids to finish. Still counts!

I found it, I put it in the fridge, and it’s still there. yeah.

I have a muffin tin for BIG muffins, and I buttered the cups and glommed dressing in them (along with putting some in a pan to bake the traditional way.) The single serving gloms were a hit, so in the future…

Everyone has gone. The dishwasher is just about done sloshing. Even with us using paper plates, the machine was full and I had half a dozen large pieces that got washed by hand. Daughter took most leftovers home with her - SIL scored a bonanza of ribs - he got more than a rack of 'em and I even sent a bottle of BBQ sauce because I had bought some not knowing I had 2 bottles of it. As soon as I carve the uncut half of the roasted bird, I’ll send the carcass to Daughter. That’s a chore for tomorrow or the next day.

After we ate, I had my first experience with Cards Against Humanity. I kept getting sucky cards but I did win a few hands. When it was my turn to read a black card, one of the answers included “a bowl of mayonnaise and human teeth” - I swear, I nearly choked trying to read it. I had tears in my eyes! So the game did have its moments.

FCD helped me de-leaf the table and the dining room is back to its usual configuration. I plan to spend the next few hours in my recliner, digesting and chilling.

Sitting digesting T-day dinner, took 5 hours get ready and 30 minutes to finish. And there is still a cornucopia of pies to sample later, so my belly is quite full and no workout awaits me, which is just fine with me, sometimes you have to overdo it or what’s the fun in life?

Looks like rain on Saturday so might make tomorrow my '‘walkabout’ day in the St. Louis area. Haven’t been to the Arch in a couple of decades so that’s a possibility but I leave it open-ended to just wander about. Travel Sunday looks promising with dry skies all the way home.

Sounds like everyone had a good day so thanks for that. I promise to try to respond more than when I get back to the hotel.

Now we’re watching Kindergarten Cop for an after-dinner movie. Oh Joy.

We have such a problem! We forgot to bring home a little piece of turkey for the fuzzbutts and they can smell it on our breath. We can’t go back and beg, they will send us home with half a turkey instead and I’m cooking ours tomorrow.

Woe is me!

I am SUCH a font of useless information, I always like filling up my memory banks with trivia instead of memorizing phone numbers and such.

Back from The Quay. Did the usual exchange of food for hauling 30 totes of Xmas crap from the attic. It’s reasonable drive home. I’m tired, I shall go to bed after this Boulivardier, I think.

Another reason we  you.

Not swampy, but Sis recommends putting a couple of tablespoons of ammonia in a bag with the grates overnight and the fumes will take the mess off.

Yay!

Happy Thanksgiving from scenic Hermann Memorial Hospital, Greater Heights. I got a nasty case of C-diff (** bboo** can explain it better than i). Just got out of ICU last night and will go to rehab Monday. Read all, retained some.

OMG!!! And oh, thank goodness you are still around. We were getting worried, the last we heard you weren’t doing well and then nothing.

I do hope Nelson is OK, he’s gotta be so scared without you.

Just looked up C-diff. YOIKS!!! Hope your recovery is speedy, complete, and not too unpleasant. Again, YOIKS!!

Glad you’re sprung; sad for the problem.

Oh dear! I hope you recovery goes well, and you get home soon.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We don’t do that here so usually it’s just a normal day although this year the school has an event that happened yesterday (Thursday) and today (Friday) so the kids didn’t have school and I had today off.

SenWife is off in Tokyo for a couple of weeks. I’m busy holding down the fort.

SenGirl is working more on her senior project. I should post more of the food she’s learning to cook.

SenBoy has two more weeks until the futsal tournament and is getting more and more nervous about it.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s a balmy 31 degrees Ferret Height outside(-0.55 Centipedes).

EEK! Thanks for checking in.

Happy Thursday!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/48f with a predicted high of 10c/49f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Partly fucking bullshit.” It’s also blowing a gale out there!

hippie I am glad surgery went well, and I hope Sunflower has a speedy recovery.

red so good to see your post, sorry to read that you’ve been so ill though - we were all worried about you.

We had a good time yesterday, the bands we saw were very good, met some friends, had a few beers and picked up a delicious curry on our way back.

We’re staying at the same place as last year and we even got the same room! It’s a group of small lodges at the marina so we have a view of boats and water on two of three sides. I posted a pic on FB for moooom as we can see the dry dock area where all the fixing takes place.

Off for breakfast shortly, when ‘im indoors has finished putting his face on. First band is at 12.30pm and we want to see them, we were chatting to the singer yesterday and promised to be there, so we must!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 33 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 55 and cloudy this afternoon and evenin’. The plan for the day is high RDOS inactivities. The only chore is to empty the dishwasher. We have some leftovers for sup and that will get rid of that. Folks were sent home with a supply of turkey and dressin’ so’s we wouldn’t have bunches of leftovers.

{{{red}}} yikes! Glad you’re over the worst of it and outta ICU. How long will you be in rehab? I know Nelson is missin’ his mommy. Glad he has his favorite auntie to look after him.

BooFae glad ‘im indoors and you are havin’ a good time.

doggio food in exchange for grunt work sounds like a good deal.

MetalMouse enjoy your walk about in St. Louis.

JtC I am sure extra tidbits of turkey today will make up for the egregious faux pas you committed yestiddy.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

On our cruise this past summer, we spent a lot of time strolling along docks and in/around boatyards, so if we were with you, we’d be down among the boats!

Awoke to 30 Ferrets so I won’t be going anywhere any time soon. Later, I hope to run the sprinkler on the new landscaping… maybe. It’s supposed to be even colder tonight. According to the instructions provided, I should be watering every couple of days, but they mostly look like spring/summer instructions. None of them address freezing temps. I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing.

FCD has recruited SIL and Justin to help him get the swim platform to the boat. While they’re at it, I’ll do laundry (it’s Firday, after all) and I’ll deal with the rest of the turkey - much for the freezer, some for the next few days. I may run to Food Lion also, as we’re almost out of 'nanners. And I should rollsuck. Not a lot of RDOS at FairyChatEstate today.

I am pleased my dressing was a hit, since I don’t eat it. I started with a generic version of stove-top, added celery and onions, and instead of water, I dumped in turkey broth with some meat that has been in the freezer since last year. (It kinda worked its way to the back and was forgotten.) So now I know what to do for future reference.

I’m also pleased that I’ll have the house to myself for a while. I need some quiet solitude to recover from the last few days. I also need to eat lightly today after overindulgence yesterday. Not the real food, but the doggone brownies and punkin pie. Stoopit sweet tooth! There’s still a whole pie left and ignoring it will be rough. Working it into my daily calorie allowance will be tougher, especially at approx 300 calories per slice. (Probably a little less since I used splenda instead of sugar.)

For now, tho, quiet time till everyone gets up, dressed, and outta here.

Happy Firday!!
