(Old) Gobble ‘Til You Wobble, Or Not In The MMP

Saturday afternoon here. 3° C, whatever that is there. Nice sunny day. I’ve got a couple of classes this afternoon and it’s hard to concentrate.

SenBoy off to play a futsal game today in Sapporo. Two weeks to the big tournament and he’s getting nervous.

SenGirl is being lazy this weekend. Not getting much done. I have a lot I need to do as well, but I’m pretty lazy.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 27 degrees Ferret Height(-2.78 Centipedes). I put the liner in my trenchcoat, and put away my aloha shirts and pulled out my long sleeves. So next week’s heatwave is on me.

Makes him sound like a saint.

Ahhh… A quiet house, no guests*, time to take a bath. I look forward to cleaning tomorrow.

*until Sunday, when a friend arrives for an overnight.

Red feel better soon!!

MetalMouse, sounds like a nice, relaxing trip for you. That’s good.

Congrats on the boots, Coppertone.

Annie and I are sitting in the kitchen this morning because my two stepsons are here visiting and sleeping in the living room area.

I don’t know, but I’d say that Annie is pretty comfy there in my new pajama pants…

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/42f with a predicted high of 7c/44f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Cloudy with a fucking chance of giving a shit.”

Yesterday was fun, we went to get lunch at a little café we like before heading to the festival venue for the first band of the day. After seeing a few bands and chatting to friends, we got caught up on the overnight scandal

Dinner was a takeaway from the Chinese, then after a quick change of t-shirts, we went back for the last band on the small stage. The drummer is someone we know from a band from Northern Ireland so we had chosen that band’s shirts to wear. It was good to talk to him and catch up on stuff too.

More of the same today, first band is at 1pm so I need to get in the shower and make myself presentable before we go for some lunch.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving. It was just us and our two adult daughters. We do not usually do Black Friday but we had to go to the bank and she needed a new charger for her watch and phone. While we were there she talked me into a new iMac. My current iMac is nine years old and it is time for an upgrade.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 34 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 62 and partly to mostly cloudy all day. The big item on today’s agenda is to make slow cooker chili. That and cornbread will be sup. I shall watch kolledge tackleball off and on this afternoon and evenin’ as there will be several worth keepin’ up with. Of course there will be the usual RDOS inactivities as is our wont.

Lily yay for sis and you takin’ a vacation together. Sloth watchin’ sounds like an activity I could get into.

Sticky_Buns Annie does indeed look quite fetchin’ in her jammy pants!

BooFae glag y’all continue to have a good time.

Hippie enjoy the new tech toy.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

I know each of these words, but strung together, I dunno…

And holy crap on a shivering cracker - it’s 23 icy Ferrets here as the day starts!! According to Accuweather, if you believe in such things, it’ll be sub-freezing every morning for the next 2 weeks. Definitely below average, which is upper 30s.

FCD is going to Lowe’s this morning to pick up a 90° angle drill he ordered yesterday, plus we’re about out of AA and AAA batteries, so he’ll get a bunch of those. Heaven help us if our TV remotes quit working because we don’t have batteries!!!

And please don’t clutch pearls at this next bit. We got a shock collar for Otis. BUT it has a vibrate and a beep function, and so far, the vibrate is effective. I absolutely do not want to shock him any more then I’d whack him with a rolled-up newspaper, but this is self-preservation for me. He’s a lot of dog and my arms are covered with bruises and some nasty cuts/scrapes.

Last night when he was starting to climb on me as I sat in my recliner, I’d say NO and hit the button for vibrate. He’d back off and get a confused expression as he looked for the source of the vibration and the accompanying buzz. Think cell phone in vibrate mode. Much as he can be a pest, he’s a smart pup so with luck, we can retire the collar in a few weeks.

FCD’s aunt used a similar collar on their hyper-active terrier, and it got to the point where just reaching for the TV remote would get the dog to stop whatever she was doing. We’re just hoping Otis will listen to me when I say NO!! I know he’s just playing when he “attacks” me, but he’s big and part of the reason I have so many wounds is my instinct to pull away from him while he’s “biting.” I know it’s all puppy behavior, and when Higgs did it - meh! But there’s a big difference between a pug mouth and a wolfhound mouth. Anyway, fingers crossed that I can get him to take me seriously in short order.

I’ll be running to Food Lion and Aldi today - just need a few things but I don’t want to wait till Moanday. FCD is out of 'nanners and we can’t let that go unresolved! That and fresh pineapple are the only fruits he’ll eat consistently, so I need to restock. Plus we’re almost out of rye bread, and that can’t stand!! We’re also almost out of ham for sammiches!

Our house guests will be leaving some time this morning. After they’re gone, I’ll tend to the leftover turkey - much will go in the freezer. Then I need to get the carcass to Daughter so she can make her famous turkey soup. and when that’s done, the fridge will get organized - I’m not sure what’s in there.

I’m thinking we’ll have soup for supper, but not sure if it’ll be N.O.T. soup or ham-and-bean soup. Since I don’t want the spuds to get too old, I think that’s the answer. And that’s all the thinking I’ve done about the day.

Happy Saturday!!

It’s been so long since I raised a kitten I’d forgotten how hyper they can get.

On the plus side, Buddy and Miss Yet-to-be-named get along a lot better than Allie and Buddy did. Buddy has randomly bopped the kitten on the head a few times and makes some interesting grumbly noises at her from time to time, but he’s a middle-aged guy and about as unused to kitten antics as the humans are. When she’s calmer, he’s fine with her and she’s adjusting to him. I’ve even seen one instance of her cuddling up to him while he’s snoozing, and him not being bothered by it.

He does seem to be a little clingier with the humans than usual, so we make sure he gets plenty of attention.

I’m sitting in a darkened living room this morning with only the tree lights on. Fluffy snow is coming down steadily and will increase throughout the day. It feels very peaceful and this fake tree is soothing my tired soul, which feels battered and bruised after a year of some of the nastiest politics I’ve ever seen. I feel exhausted by it all and fear for my country, but this morning of quiet really helps and will be my routine for the rest of the month.

Morning all as I look out at a snow-covered landscape and near whiteout conditions. Supposed to turn to rain in a couple hours and clear all this out but we’ll have to see. Trip from hotel to Brother’s is on hold for the moment, need to figure out how to clean off the car given that I have no tools for it (not really needed in Ali-bama). Just have to play it by ear Everyone else have a good day now

Good morning!

It’s 37°F and mostly cloudy at the moment. The clouds will remain all day, and our expected daytime high is 43°F. There isn’t any pretty snow here, and I’m a little jealous of those of you who got some. My daughter posted a picture of the first snow of the season at her house this morning. It looked very peaceful.

Metal Mouse, I’m glad the trip has been good.

Lily, yay for a bit of a rest (so to speak) between houseguests.

Cookie, as much as I complain about putting up the tree and decorations each year, I do like to sit in the dark with only the tree and village lights on. It’s soothing. Having snow to accompany it would be a nice bonus!

BooFae, I’m glad the festival has been so much fun.

Hippie, one of my friends called me yesterday to chat about some stuff related to our retirement. During the course of the conversation, she mentioned her laptop had passed away, buty she wasn’t in a hurry for a new one because she’d spent a good sum of money in the last month. However, as our conversation continued, I mentioned that I had been logging into my federal retirement account and checking the status of my application, among other things. We got to talking about the usefulness of having a computer, and how, really, you do need one these days. Long story short, she got a new laptop via Amazon yesterday. We really discussed the pros and cons (phone screens too small, easy to fat-finger things on the phone, easier to work on and save documents on a computer) and other things. After she purchased it, she messaged me to say that our conversation was what swayed her. She also got a killer deal, so that helps.

I was the slothiest sloth yesterday. I didn’t do anything but clean the kitchen.

My son is still here and I’m not sure if he’s leaving today or tomorrow. It’s been nice having him here and visiting with him.

I’m doing my best to avoid any stores this weekend. Traffic will be stupid and I don’t want to be out in it.

Metal Mouse, maybe the hotel will lend you a broom or something to sweep off the snow?

Well, that’s about it from these parts. Please take care of yourselves. You’re all such a treasure to me, even though I’ve only met two of you in person.

Our Thanksgiving rack of lamb was so extremely good that I’m fighting the urge to get another one for Christmas. But they’re spendy, at least at this good supermarket where they sell high quality Sonoma County lamb.

The creamy garlic scalloped potatoes and fresh Roma beans were also wonderful. The punkin pie is almost completely et - there’s just one slice left in the fridge. Mr. brown can have it, as I’m getting a little bilious.

Our local super-fancy Silicon Valley mall had a shooting yesterday on Black Friday when it was super crowded. Three people wounded and sent to the hospital and the shooter’s at large. Well, isn’t that just ducky.

We were lucky, only a trace of snow.
1-3 is expected tonight, turning to rain in the morning.
I’ve never liked Saturdays.
Tomorrow is church and football.
Finished the holiday leftovers. Still have a lot of snap left. When it gets filled the 2nd, I’ll have 430 to last me all year.

You are among the Mumpers I’ve met, and I’m not going to try to count or name any because I always seem to forget someone. But I do feel safe saying swampy was my first! He’s also the only person to call me a cheap date!

House guests have departed and I just got back from my grocery run. I got everything on my list plus a few other things. It’s all stowed and I’m going to wait till after lunch for turkey packaging. The temp has climbed to 40 Ferrets, but with the wind, it feels colder. I fear our 2 anna half tons of pellets will run out far too early this year - mostly because FCD is using them to heat his shop - MUCH cheaper than electric heat for sure. We have more than half a tank of heating oil, so the house can be kept warm without pellets. Barring an apocalyptic ice age, we should survive the winter.

I suppose I should put clean sheets on the guest bed so I can get the room ready for the grands next month. Then I can close the heat vent and shut the door - it can stay cool till our next overnight guest(s) show up. Off I go, then…

BTW, collar update. Otis was getting a tad rambunctious, so FCD picked up the remote - just picked it up - and Otis stopped jumping. Less than 24 hours and he’s figured out cause and effect. He’s one smart puppeh!

We just need to be sure to give lots of skritches when he behaves. My arms may be saved!!

I was doing the 100 Table/Slide, and it wasn’t too bad. And I wasn’t inundated with work from the 300 Slide, so I guess they figured it out. But I did have to help on Brown 120, because that PDC was backed up and FUBAR with miss sorts. But I was out by 0945 today, so that was nice, although the 24 degree temps during work weren’t. Which is why I’m having a gin&tonic to fight off malaria, because with cold like this I’m sure the ice mosquitos have hatched. Also, I had some bacon and eggs, and did a load of laundry,

You mean hers?

I bought a bunch of rechargeables. Which is smart because the remote for the TV sucks them dry quickly.

Pro tip: hands work better than ears and clearing snow off cars.

I never did when I was in retail.

And there was much rejoicing.

Not much to say, but so much to do …

I’m willing to wager you are not the only person who could say that!

Perhaps, but what he and I shared was something special!

I gave my new landscaping a good drink and we just finished an early supper of my amazing potato-and-carrot soup. The recipe doesn’t call for carrots, but eons ago, FCD asked me to add some, and history was made!

Now, 'tis time for chillage!
