(Old) Gobble ‘Til You Wobble, Or Not In The MMP

Good morning.

It’s 31°F and foggy outside. We’re going to dance between fog and partly cloudy today, with a daytime high of 42°F. Nothing earthshaking.

I need to get started on Christmas shopping, but the kids are not being particularly helpful with ideas. Wonder where they get that from?

My son made some excellent beef and vegetable soup for dinner yesterday. Not sure what we’ll eat tonight; more soup or turkey leftovers. Frankly, I’m over the turkey.

Red, glad the move is handled, and I hope that the rehab work goes smoothly. I’m sure Nelson wants to see his mama.

Sending safe travel wishes to those of you traveling today.

Alrighty, I need to finish my coffee and finish getting the last of the dishes in the dishwasher. You all take care of yourselves.

It rained. Its windy now. Snow is gone.
Lady in my building never got back to me about going to church so didn’t go.

Unfortunately, not until I’m ambulatory and able to go outside. This facility doesn’t permit animal visitors. :frowning:

I was thinking that this was Monday. Means that PT won’t begin until tomorrow.

Sending good vibes, Red.

I’ve been sorting screws and nuts and washer and labeling the little drawers where they’ll live till needed. I also took a couple of pics of the progress on the forward hatch. The final product won’t be taped together. The square base is from the old hatch. Once it’s all sanded and cetol’d, it’ll be gorgeous!!!

My sweetie does nice work. There will be four brass rods across each window to protect the glass from falling stuff or misplanted feet. They haven’t been delivered yet.

Lunch break, then we’ll head back out to continue till FCD has had enough. His back seems to bother him more quickly than usual. And, no, he won’t go see anyone about it. I quit saying anything.

The rain continues on and off - a decidedly dreary day, but it’s warm in the shop, so there’s that.

Like the new avatar!

Red glad to hear you’re on the mend! And a day to rest between getting moved and starting PT is probably a good thing.

Cupcakes that stinks about the dessert, it sounds quite delicious. Maybe Christmas will be it’s time to shine?

Sign me up!!

That cold front that brought snow to you northerly folks made it’s way down here. It’s a chilly 28 ferrets (-2 centipedes) this morning and won’t get a whole lot warmer until Tuesday.

I’m going this afternoon to look at a house for sale and I’m nervous and excited. I’ve been casually looking for a couple of years and this is the first one I’ve seen online that checks all the boxes. We’ll see how it holds up in person…

I cleaned dusted, and vacuumed. I changed Spot’s litter. I took out the trash and recycling, and waved hi at the neighbor smoking a joint in the stairwell. Got 2 loads of laundry going, and handegg on TV. Lunch was leftover turkey tossed with chipolte Tabasco, reposado tequila and olive oil, heated in the oven, with melted smoked cheddar on sourdough toast, with Duke’s mayo with southwest seasoning mixed in. Rain is on the way.

Y’all need this.

Poo.

Double Poo.
Puns intended.

Yep.

Ms Peach has discovered the heat vent.

I never really thought about it at all, but if I did, I’d think that those dramatic movie cemeteries with leaning headstones and moss covered weeping angels was a graveyard and places like where Dad was buried (VA cemetery, long rows of flat headstones that can be mowed over) are cemeteries.

Of course I now know that is wrong.

As it happens, I married into one of the founding families in Greenbriar county and seeing his family names on street signs are a common experience. The family church, which was built in the early 1880’s has a graveyard attached.

Church ladies (its more than just family now) decorate the headstones for holidays. I complicated the flowers and called the graveyard a cemetery to the family pastor and was promptly educated on the differences.

Oh no, I would have been in tears after all that work. I’ll bet it was beautiful and tasted wonderful!

That sounds like not a lot of fun. The waiting part, cause I know you are going to do everything you can to be able to go home again. Hurray for chargers, at least you can semi-entertain yourself with arcade games.

Amazing, management that actually cares about their employees getting home safe. I hope you are staying warm!

I”m sure you can find some yard work to putter around with while the sun is out. How are the ratties doing lately?

I am! I get a piece of chocolate today

Did Sadie help? I hang my felt tree on the 14th and am hoping that Jolene won’t be as much help this year.

HaHA! I am done! Well, I’m still shopping for my xmas Angel, but I’ll be dropping her package off at the old farts home, so I guess my brag is that I won’t be going to the post office again this year. (She asked for pj’s and it was easy to find a nice warm flannel pair, but I also want to get her some light cotton pj’s for summer and that’s not as simple this time of year.)

Can you get him an ESA vest and have sis sneak him in? Cookie used a website to get his lovely lady certified, it didn’t sound that expensive. Less than two hundred I think, but he would know better.

She has grown so fast! What a cutie pie she is, not to mention smart!

So yesterday I learned that Hubs had thrown me into the deep end of the pool without warning. When he suggested that I make ginger snaps for the family potluck, I thought it was just because he likes them with coffee in the morning. I didn’t realize that the person who traditional made them for the gatherings had died in 2024 so everyone would be comparing my cookies to hers and all of their grandmothers as well as store bought cookies.

Happily for everyone involved, I do know how to make good cookies so I got many compliments but dang…warn me next time so I can stress and fret for a couple of weeks! I only brought a few cookies home, so I’ll make another batch to take to the old farts home, James likes handing them around.

Speaking of James, its getting time to change into my uniform and pick him up. I’ve made turkey samwiches to munch on if we start feeling peeked, but we will probably leave around 1700.

You all have a great day, I’ll check in this evening if I’m not in jail.

For differing definitions of “help”. She mostly wandered around meowing pitifully. She seems to do a lot of that lately.

In the end I was actually productive today- took two loads of garden waste to the recycling place, plus got a bunch of minor tasks done.

I think the ratties is OK, although they clearly believe that they are starving for lack of snacks.

Laundry got done, as did shopping. About mid-afternoon the wife says “where are the sheets?” Aw crap, got left in a washing machine this morning. I found them whimpering for rescue and tossed them in a dryer.

We got a good bit done in the shop and now we’re waiting for our Chinese dinner to be delivered. It’s still drizzly and dreary, but it’s warm in the house, so yay!

Well, I’m back. Weather was cold but dry and the roads clear of icy conditions so made fairly good time (except for the usual zoo that is Nashville), even with three pit stops, one of them being Dinner at Longhorn Steak House. Bags have been unpacked and clothes put where they belong and room temperature turned up to comfortable levels. Rest of the day will be catching up on my internetting and resting from the exertions of 400+ miles of driving. Oh, and getting back in this week’s conversation before it ends tonight…

The snow Saturday was about 3-5" and was followed by rain which washed most of it away. Used my arm and a towel I ‘borrowed’ from the hotel to clean off the snow, no frost or ice so it was just a matter of brushing it off. Spent the day with Brother and Sis-in-law watching movies, something I only do when visiting them (outside of church they don’t get out much).

So, starting from my previous post yesterday (only 43 messages to read). And here I go…

Taters, I have a laptop, but when away from my home desktop I tend to use my cell phone for most on-line stuff. So far, no problems, but I did carry my laptop with me on this trip and will do so come Xmas time.

FCM, glad Otis is a fast learned and hope you are a fast healer. And thanks for mentioning haircuts (albeit for your plants), I need to get one done this week.

JtC, thanks for the info on graveyard/cemetery.

Cupcakes, a tear for the loss of your special dessert. I ate way too much apple and pecan pie at Brother’s this week, I suspect the scale at the gym will show me how much I have sinned (not that I care much, it was sooooo good…).

{{{red}}}, keep on recovering. Just looked up C-diff and…oh my. Not sure what PT and rehab can do to help, but hope your recovery goes well.

shoe, for a place in Michigan or and Great lakes state to close for the weather, it had to be bad.

Nut, sounds like the dance was more of a Mosh-pit, but as long as everyone had fun, that’s what counts.

boo fae, you are one of those folks (I am not) who can make a friend in 20 seconds and chat like you’ve known them forever. I’m envious of that skill. Enjoy the rest of the trip.

swampy, hope the per ploppin’ was pleasin’…

52, appendages crossed that the house is what you believe it is.

Van Go, lovely pic, she may not move again until March…

JtC, my guess is Hubs knew you would stress and fret and also knew how good a cookie-maker you are so he just stood back and let nature take it’s course…I guess he has a good idea now and then…

And I made it to the bottom of the thread! Take care all and I’ll be back later to get fully back in the swing of things.

Panthers upset the Rams in pro handegg. Watching Canes and Flames while the poke loin and N.O.T. roasts.

If you had 8 nipples, you’d be there too!

According to my Advent calendar, it’s 3 days till Christmas.

They are fascinating birds, for sure, full of surprises. I’d love to see a vid of how one puts a diaper on a raven without getting pecked to pieces. May have to look for one.

By the way, that Waffle House snow globe is pretty swanky.

I so agree! In the end, it’s the memories. (Well, and the pumpkin pie.)

Stay safe today at the Capitol! Also, very interesting about the differences between graveyards and cemeteries. I never knew, either.

Sticky, Annie is squee-cute in your new pajama pants!

metal mouse, I assume you finally made it to your brother’s place – what a mess with the snow. Not an environment for an Ali-baman, I agree. Glad to learn with your last post that you made it home safe and sound and without incident. You’ve earned your sloth!

Ohh, cupcakes, my heart broke for you. All your hard work and expense, all for nothing but a mess to go in the trash. I am sure it would have been the star of the meal, too.

red, I’m glad you’ve been moved to rehab but sorry you’re still stuck away from home, with obstacles to getting there not of your making. I know Nelson will lift your spirits once you can meet him outside.

shoe, you work with good people who appreciate and value you. You deserve nothing less.

dicey, you’re the UN of cheese! Delicious! Better get the Swiss in there, though.

52, best wishes for finally finding the house of your dreams! Please let us know how it goes!

Not much going here. The day is gray and good for hanging out and making soup. So that’s what I’m doing.

I turned most of the leftover chicken into chicken salad, had it for lunch over the past couple of days with lots of lettuce and celery sticks, together with leftover dinner rolls. The carcass is now simmering and it will be soup for dinner. Pumpkin pie for breakfasts. Only one slice left, so I won’t have that treat to look forward after tomorrow. Unless I make another. (I won’t, not yet.)

Ollie is happy to have my undivided attention once again. He’s enjoying his 2:00 p.m. treat in a Kong. With luck, it will keep him diverted for a whole hour! Dare I say it, he’s finally evolving some common sense, and I’ve accomplished my goal of keeping him alive past his 2-year birthday. He’s 2 1/2 now.

< whew >

My youngest sis has told all of FB that her sibs are assholes. Then she messaged me that I’m the only one who hasn’t pissed her off. So, lessee. Either 3 of them are assholes, or…

I know she’s worried about what will become of her when Mom dies, since she lives with her and the house will be sold. She seems to think the house should go to her. On the other hand, she’s 60 and chose to work as a bartender for most of her life, not setting aside anything for retirement. She’s on disability and while I don’t know how much it is, I’m pretty sure it’s not enough for rent in a decent area.

Sorry for spilling it here. I’m not going to get into it with her. It’s a no-win situation. I’m just glad my brother is the executor of Mom’s will.

Awwww! She’s a pretty savvy pupper.

Not so much gaming as reading. TV channels in this place lean towards Hallmark channel, Lifetime ( 'tis the season for the city girl to go home for the holidays and find the small town boy she previously overlooked) and FoxNews, so keeping myself in kindle books is my entertainment.

I spoke to HR and she said that as long as his vaccinations are current and documented, he would be permitted brief visits.

You have this! My paternal grandmother made damn fine gingersnaps that I’ve only found one place that compares: Dutch Maid Bakery out of Tracy City, TN. Hard to link by tablet, but they do ship.

PT will be getting me back to ambulatory status. Right now, I haven’t been out of bed for nigh on two weeks, so relearning to walk is crucial.

Now that I’m able to focus on reading, I’ve been reading at a pre-internet, pre- cable rate of speed. I just bought a third book since Wednesday and will likely finish it in the next couple of days. Onward Kate Shugak to keep Alaska safe again.

Howdy Y’all! Well, I ended up with Chalice duty. One of the scheduled ones got sick so I agreed to step in. I didn’t have to, but it makes Communion flow easier when the requisite number of folks are there. Besides, except for handlin’ the Chalice, it’s pretty much a pew plop. The afternoon was for nappage, day drinkin’ and foragin’. The remains of Turkey Day have been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. More chillage now ensues.

red hope you get to see Nelson soonest.

52 hope the house meets your approval.

MetalMouse glad you are back home safe and sound.

JtC hope you don’t get arrested. Sounds like you are now the official ginger snap maker.

MOOOOOOM this is the place to let off steam. Just remember, you can pick your friends (but not their noses unless you have permission), you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick your blood relatives.
