(Old) Halfway through the month - Midway in the MMP

I’ll be holding you in my thoughts & anxiously awaiting your future triumphant return to us.

Good morning everyone.

It’s 33F and foggy this morning. Dense morning fog will be followed by late morning and afternoon cloudiness and some rain showers late in the afternoon. Our expected daytime high temperature is 47F.

BBBoo, thinking the very best thoughts for your surgery and recovery today.

Cookie, I hope you enjoy the family visit.

I can swim pretty well, but my form leaves much to be desired. I had to take a swim test when I was six years old to be allowed in the deep end at the beach. I passed it. I can do the breaststroke and crawl and float pretty well, too.

Yesterday was a very long day. I was up before 3:00 a.m., down in Oly town before 5:00 a.m., in the office by 5:15 a.m., and I didn’t return home until close to 8:00 p.m. We had a lunchtime potluck and an after-hours good-bye dinner for the outgoing Director. There were dust specks in my eyes several times, and I was sad to see her go. She believed in work-life balance and had the well-being of her employees at the forefront all the time.

Today is my Friday, and I’m glad for that. I have many meetings, and I may have to sit in on a meeting on Friday, too. If so, I’ll adjust my leave time accordingly. I also need to deal with some HR and budgetary things today.

I know there is more to address, but the pups want breakfast, and I need to finish loading the dishwasher.

BBBoo Wishing the best for your eyeballs. And you.

I tore my ACL many moons ago and sometimes it starts barking.

Off to the museum today. I’m looking forward to this one, we’ll be putting their shop more together.

Onward!

Boo, best wishes! I’m sure it will all come out right.

BBBoo sending positive thoughts for your surgery!

Good thoughts, BBBoo!

39°F (that’s 3.88889°C to some of yuhs) and raining. For currently inexplicable reasons, I agreed to meet someone for 6:30 coffee to donate a few reams of paper to her zine. That’s 50 minutes before civil twilight. I’m not a morning person.

Morning, folkses! Our new-but-troublesome furnace is in a snit, I guess. It was chilly when I woke up. The furnace people have called in (ominous organ chord) The Warranty Officer. Maybe he’ll be able to exorcise this thingl Outside, it’s 22F, rising to a balmy 33F this afternoon.

There are only about a dozen of us. I only go to the office once a month now, and the next time is Tuesday; so I haven’t spoken with anyone. I doubt the Collections people mind, and I think it’s probably expected with the receptionist. I’m sure the a/r person whose been there longer than anybody (except maybe one of the account executives) will tell me how she feels if I ask her.

BBBoo, nothing but positive waves from here; hope the result is worth the anxiety.

lily, 6:30 in the AM!?!?! What manner of barbarian is this you’re dealing with! :scream: :scream:

Taters, that is a very long day and glad you get a long weekend to recuperate.

FCM, sounds like a plan. I’m getting in a couple days early, haven’t been to England in 15-18 years or so and there are places I want to see again.

Sticky Buns, thanks for the explanation on BMS; The only thing I could come up with on BM is somewhat scatological… And be safe driving out there. You too, shoe

boo fae, take care and maybe you can get some of your work done.

And maybe alcohol later…

Have murdered a big bowl of Corn Flakes (why yes, I am a cereal killer) along with an apple so ready to start…really, pretty much nothing, compared to the appointments and other stuff I have been doing. May run the dishwasher, but might play dish tetris and do them tomorrow, we’ll see how it goes. Probably head over to the gym, letting them pay for my shower and shave works well for me. Still have most of last Sunday’s NY Times to get through so might drop in at the library where I can concentrate on it. It’s 34F heading to 57F later today and blue skies are in evidence.

Take care all and some extra {{{ }}} for BBBoo

bbboo, i hope all goes well and easily!

susan, those are some gorgeous pictures! i’m that person that points out the hawk flying around. in philadelphia of all places! we have nesting pairs of redtails and falcons. the falcons are more difficult to spot.

last night lager was in time out twice. he was acting out because i had 2 building meetings in a row. even though we had cuddle time, he felt “some sort of way”. oy! he has totally recovered from the tummy trouble blip.

pom beverages are wonderful! as the name says. i get them when they are on sale. aside from the original pom, i also enjoy the super teas, orange blossom, peach passion, honey green, and lemonade tea. the lemonade tea was the one being stubborn earlier this week.

Even before I packed on the excess poundage, I floated like the proverbial cork. In the same Navy survival swim class, we had to start by treading water with our hands in the air for 1 minute - to simulate the time needed to divest ourselves of parachutes or whatever. The guys in my class struggled - I just sorta bobbed there. In fact, I had problems with the part where we were swimming under “burning fuel on the surface” - I wore myself out trying to stay below the flames. Guess it’s a good thing I didn’t go to sea or become a Navy pilot.

Back from my grocery expedition. Saturday’s lunch menu will be pigs inna blanket of whomp biscuits, and mini pizzas on english muffins, and cuke salad, and cookies for dessert. And strawberries and blueberries and pineapple chunks.

Not sure what today’s lunch will be - probably a sammich. I had soup the last 3 days and it’s gotten boring.

And it’s freekin’ cold! I know some of you have colder, but I forgot to grab my jacket, so all I had was my fleece pullover. Not a lot of help at 25°, tho it was just to run from car to store and store to car twice. I’m glad I’m home.

Supremely blurfy this morning. I actually dreamed, rather vividly, about asking S.M. if I could call out sick …

Plus I’d hafta shovel myself out …

… but I don’t wanna lose the hours ($).

Whay say ye, Oh Mumpers?

Considering that your job does involve handling food, if you think you have something contagious, calling out would probably be best unless you’re super-desperate for every dollar you can bring in (and I’ve been in that position, so I really am sympathetic).

A day of much screaming about payroll from TPTB. It seem (very)slightly less chaotic than the last few weeks. I did my Senior Day Shopping at HT. It was less crowed than usual. I guess the old fogeys didn’t want to freeze their butts off just to get $3 off their order.

Maybe it has the flue?
: d&r :

You’re gonna milk that pun for all it’s worth, huh?

I agree with this.

Maybe because some of us have no idea what the joke is?

Bella would probably watch the duck channel 24/7 as well. She HATES water. However, it was extremely surprising to me and my daughter when Bella went into a lake to try and get Canadian geese and into a river to try to get a duck.
I’m glad you had a nice walk and visit with Ms. Dog

lily VERY nice pics! Thanks for sharing. What was the first bird?

I gotcha  :prayer_beads:

Some lady with something called a “job” she had to get to by 8:00. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I don’t think you’re in a position to criticize.

Just now dipping into the MMP this week. A lot to catch up on for sure.

That sounds absolutely miserable! Have your doctors explored a potential autoimmune disease causing it? I ask because my mom has Sjogren’s Disease and it has made her mouth incredibly sensitive and she can’t take any spiciness at all. When she’s having a flare up even something like mashed potatoes can set her mouth on fire. I need to tell her about Burning Mouth Syndrome for her to investigate if she might be experiencing that in addition.

BBBoo I hope your surgery went well!

I’m on the struggle bus this week. It’s always a bit disheartening in January to look at the calendar and realize the next corporate holiday isn’t until mid-April. I wish they’d pick up a holiday in February but alas no one has asked my opinion on the matter.

The house across the street from me sold in December. I was quite sad to see my neighbor move. A younger couple has bought the house and turned it into a furnished rental. I was afraid it was going to be an Airbnb but I haven’t seen it listed on that website. The first people to rent it showed up yesterday - it was two guys in fluorescent vests getting out of a work truck. So I’m a little hopeful that maybe the house will be rented to businesses that need to put their employees up somewhere for a bit of time. We’ll see how long the guys end up staying…

I just finished transferring all the stuff from my A7 Lite to my new-to-me A8 tablet. I think. I’ll go thru it and make sure I have everything I wanted moved before I do a major purge and pass it to one of the grandspawn.

First check - it appears that while all the game apps transferred, none of the scores did. So I’m starting all over on all of them. Not a biggie with some apps, but rather an annoyance on some others. First World problems, yanno. Off to finish setting up my new toy. I ordered a new case, as the one FCD had was black. Just black. No pictures or anything. Boring plain black. YAWN!!

Just dropping this here.

Gabriel Hoces repeats a word seven times when he discusses what it’s like to work in Denmark - “trust”.

“No one is trying to micromanage you, or look over your shoulder,” says Mr Hoces, who works for a tech firm in Copenhagen. "Bosses aren’t coming in to check if you put in eight or nine hours a day, as they mainly only care if you completed your projects.

“There’s a lot of trust in Denmark in that way, and I don’t feel a hierarchy at my job. It’s all very democratic.”
