(Old) Happy Memorial Day or Just Happy Moanday in the MMP

Hi all - I’m finally ready for the Grand self-doxxing Reveal. As if anyone much really cares about my silly frivolous adventures in semi-wretched excess.

Anyhow, I now live at 101 Via Mizner | Luxury Apartments in Boca Raton, FL. There’s a pretty good tour of still pix that starts automatically on that home page.

From the home page you can click the [Gallery] link at the top right then select [Community] for a bunch more stills of all the common areas, or click the [Watch Video] link for a real sleek 1 minute arty marketing piece with annoying loud music. Many residents look like me, a few look decrepit, and many look like those folks in the vid. Really.

From the top menu if you click [Floor plans] then [1 Bedroom] and scroll all the way down to the bottom you’ll see the plan labeled “AD1”. That’s me. You can click the [Not Currently Available] button for some bigger, better images of the layout. It’s 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and a space that could be a second bedroom but has no door and no closet. They call it a “media room or den”. The square footage that could almost be a second bathroom is instead a second walk-in storage closet. So call it a 1-1/2 bedroom (or 1 bedroom plus den), 1 bath apartment. Plenty for a single dude even with frequent guest(s).

My actual personal pix are at Google Drive - LSLGuy - New Apartment and BB Pix.

I busted the collection into one intro pic, then 3 folders for the apartment and 3 folders for BB’s & my brief history together. (all G or PG rated  ).

I’ve named everything so the names provide a structure and a narrative. If you jump into each folder in order, and within each folder just click the first pic/vid, then from the page showing the single image/vid you can just right-arrow through each folder’s slide show while the pic titles at upper left explain what you’re looking at. Most are pretty obvious but some benefit from a little context.

Other than assembling that for y’all, I had a productive afternoon. My last art was delivered and hung without issue, I picked up an on-line order from the mall, went for craft tacos & 'ritas (but no churros) for dinner, then had a wine and stogie at the beach and now home to post this after putting on the last finishing touches.

I’ve read all y’all’s fine words up to about 6pm Tue (so now at 10pm Tue I’m only 30 or 40 posts behind! ), but will reserve all responses until tomorrow morning. It’s well-earned bedtime here now.

Cheers all!

At least we’re on city water (or, I guess, county water), so the toilets worked. I grew up on well water; I do not miss that.

I also grew up with wood heat in northern New England. Summer nights tended to be cool, and winter nights were downright frigid (because the fire goes out after you go to bed). I do not sleep well in the heat.

We are going to be on county water and sewer too! I’m very happy about this! We used to lose water with the power because of the local well and having septic tanks pumped was not a fun thing to do.

Hubs grew up with a wood stove, like you…he wasn’t a fan.

His family has a small wood heated, one bathroom cabin that they are trying to fix up and sell. They offered it to us (it is still semi-furnished) to use instead of paying for a motel.

I can remember the days that I would have paid money to stay in such a quaint little place. Those days are long past, I’m far too special for that anymore.

We are also buying a bigger place. I didn’t want that, we have too much stuff already and like you we will have to buy more things so we can sit down in all of the places in our bigger place.

We are DINKS (double income, no kids) and don’t have anyone who will want our stuff. I’ve done my best to downsize but the price and location was right for the bigger place and we will still be a few pennies ahead after it is all over and done.

Back to Nextdoor…Hubs sold the ammo and took the ad down about five minutes ago. Holy cow, things are going kinda nutz and hubs refuses to post about why he took his post down. I’m not going to do it either, those folks need to learn to chill.

And a good evening all. Ended up eating first and then going over to the gym, pedaled for about 70 minutes (with several breaks) and then showered and came home. AC is cooling the place down and it’s only 70F outside so should be good sleeping weather. Mowage is on the schedule for tomorrow, so that will be a fair amount of my exercise for the day.

Pilot, nice pictures, both of your new place and BB.

FCM, was thinking more about getting through the airport, like Wheelie, red, and suzie mentioned. Both BWI (guessing that’s where they are going from) and IND are fairly substantial airports.

Coppertone, hope you feel better soon.

rocky, just wanted to mention to the MMP crew, if they don’t get out much in the rest of the forum, that you have been doing a yeoman job posting updates on the Trump trial and I for one appreciate it, you’re giving us the basic information on what’s going on (per CNN) and letting everyone else draw their own inferences, but you are providing the ‘straight dope’ that everyone should have. Much thanks.

JtC, you may never need the tracker, but the piece of mind is invaluable. And I’ve travelled First Class in the US of A and frankly, it’s not a big deal; the seat is wider and you can stretch your legs and you get a drink before you take off, but compared to international travel, just not the same. IMHO as always. YMMV. Glad NF and Chicken Guy will keep your good work going. Glad NF husband didn’t burn himself up.

And it’s nearly bedtime so will catch y’all on Hump Day.

The horses were at the front of my city’s parade; they were pulling a casket draped with an American flag. Then some other horses followed directly behind with the LEO riders holding upright American flags. Next came a DPW (Public Works) crew scooping up the road apples.

Wow, just Wow! Truth is stranger than fiction. What a few weeks you’ve had. Glad it seems to have almost all resolved in the end. And what a jack-blank that person was who didn’t want to give back the money wired accidentally to the wrong account.

Well, I only got up to post 60 and I need to get to bed so will sign off tonight. Good night all; sleep tight; have pleasant dreams. :first_quarter_moon_with_face:

I am getting depressed Today I was supposed to get my staples out and tomorrow start PT But noooo. An X-ray found my shoulder is dislocated so now I have to go in for more surgery I am peck typing this out. How this happened I don’t know and Ihaven’t had any real pain. Feeling low, if you pray, please say one for me, or send well wishes. Help out someone who needs it and give thanks for those who help you. My sister is a saint for all the time she has spent on me.

I’m so sorry, man. That does indeed truly suck.

You know we’re all rootin’ for your speedy recovery.

Not even 2 a.m. and I’m already yawning like one of those lions in the nature documentaries, so off to bed with me soon. Last night’s leftovers - including some cheesecake, yum! - are assimilating, along with with a multivitamin, so hopefully that takes care of short-term health needs.

Tonight was SO dead slow, the night really dragged slowly. Hopefully things will be more lively tomorrow.

G’night.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Between worrying about the move, worrying about GG, and hubs going full tinfoil hat, I’m not surprised.

Pilot, I like what you did with the place. I have the same style racks for my pantry(I prefer Tanqueray gin, though). And BB is a hottie.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/58f with a predicted high of 16c/60f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Just think, it could be fucking hot and humid as fuck outside. Be grateful that it’s fucking not.” I am indeed grateful for that - I was out last night and the venue we were in was very hot and sticky!

Yay! I saw it on farcebook yesterday, so happy that you found him and he wasn’t all that far from home.

I’m sorry to hear that the new meds don’t seem to be any better than the old meds - talking to your therapist is a good place to start, but if you were on more of an even keel without the meds then it would seem that the onset of such feelings when you start taking meds again would see the two being related. Fingers crossed for a good outcome!

Flying domestic first class isn’t too shabby, we’ve had some entertaining experiences doing that! I’m glad you’ve managed to find a solution to the Indy trip, and one that allows her to stay in the hospice programme too. I hope he’s willing to consider airport assistance too, having to deal with luggage and all that stuff, and trying to stop MIL getting out of a wheelchair to wander off is going to be taxing. He should at least consider having someone else there to push the chair and keep MIL engaged in conversation as a distraction.

hippie how fabulous that the band is still going after such a long time!

Yankers that was quite the mountain of stuff to get through, I think you deserve a week with your feet up after all that!

Baker sending you all the positive vibes I’ve got, sorry to hear about the additional surgery, you must be feeling really low about that. Chin up!

We had a good time out last night, bands were very good although the venue was hot and sweaty! We spent the time in between bands outside on the fire escape just to cool down a bit. A few beers were had, and we were home by 11pm so that wasn’t too bad. I’m out with a couple of friends tonight so that will be nice. Nothing exciting in my work day today, no meetings so it’s just us continuing to chase around for marking.

Once I log off, i need to make food for campus for the next couple of days so that can sit in the fridge ready to go with me. I will be up at the crack of sparrow’s fart in the morning for the campus trek…oh what fun.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 90 and N.O.S. for the day. This mornin’ we shall procure provisions. I must also pick up some snacky stuff for tonight’s book study group. We shall have N.O.L. at Sonny’s as this is the last Wednesday for their poke special. After that there will be nappage and day drinkin’. Then I have book group at six p.m. A fairly bzzzy day for da bear!

Coppertone hope you’re feelin’ better today.

Pilot tres chic and cool digs! Also, BB and you look good together.

{{{CupCakes}}} hope you can get through the surgery and recovery soonest. Prayers ascend.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Why must I suffer so!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

All the airline knows is that there are 2 senior passengers and one is in a wheelchair - I’m pretty sure this sort of thing happens all the time. It’s not like you have to disclose why the wheelchair is required.

As for their moving thru the airports - I won’t be there, I don’t get a vote. FCD is an adult who doesn’t take kindly to what he considers to be questions of his judgement. He will handle things as he sees fit.

He must be a real joy to be around during this transition…

I’m no Constitutional scholar, but doesn’t the 1st amendment specify that Congress shall make no laws prohibiting the freedom of speech. Your name isn’t Congress, is it??

DCA - they’re flying American, non-stop and DCA was the only option. BWI has nonstop on Southwest, but they just have coach. FCD wanted his mom to travel non-stop in comfort.

Believe it or not, that shouldn’t be an issue. She’ll wander away from her walker, but she really can’t get out of the chair without assistance.

It’s semi-annual poke-and-prod day. I have an appointment at 7:10 with my Dr and I’ll be leaving here in about 15 minutes. FCD has an appt with his dental surgeon for phase 2 of the dental implant. So MIL will be home alone for (I hope) less than an hour. I shouldn’t be gone very long since I have no issued to discuss.

If the rain holds off, I’ll get some yard work done today. It’s also the day the aide comes to give MIL her shower. And we should be going to the credit union today or tomorrow to get the CD for MIL’s funds. I need to remind FCD of that.

Good times! Happy Wednesday!!

Up a predictable 4 hrs. later for my predictable bio-break.

Was partially awakened earlier by a certain miniature black panther tromping around my head in a bid for attention. I utterly ignored him, expecting him to curl up next to me, but instead he hopped down and took over my chair.

Well, a little while later after I’d gotten up to, ah, sit somewhere else for a bit, I picked his ass up and plopped him onto the bed, where he obligingly curled up and put his head into the palm of my hand.

Alright, I need to locate some sort of snack.

Aw, shit, it’s already very bright outside. Do not approve.

ETA: cheesecake for breakfast: good idea, or BEST IDEA EVAH?!

Good morning.

It’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit and raining outside. Temperatures will remain relatively cool for this time of year, topping out at 60 degrees Fahrenheit for the day. We’ll have rain at times throughout the day, so it’ll be another day without having to water posies, except for the two pots on my front porch.

Baker, I’m sending my very best thoughts your way.

Pilot, that’s a nice apartment.

JtC, people are both weird and mean. I pretty much stay off Next Door and only keep an account to see if there has been criminal activity, such as break-ins, in my general area. Otherwise, I stay the hell away from it because people are either complete nutters or complete scammers. It will only get worse as we close in on the election.

FCM, I hope both the time at the airport and flights are smooth for FCD and MiL. It can sometimes be a real PITA traveling when one is healthy; traveling with a senior in a wheelchair is bound to be a little difficult.

Welp, it’s back to work today. I’m not looking forward to it. Ah well, gotta pay those bills, and the pups sure appreciate their puppy chow.

I have drop-off appointments for both pups tomorrow morning. I’m not a fan of these types of appointments, especially since they charge an extra 100 bucks each for each pup. They got new staff during the transition between Polar and when we got Masie and Buster, and these don’t really know us. I miss the old staff, who worked hard to get us real appointments whenever possible. I hate to start over with another vet because I think it’s the same everywhere, just based on what I’ve been hearing from other pet owners. At any rate, they’ll clean out both the pups’ ears and, I’m sure, prescribe meds. Since they’ll already be there, I’ll have them clip both the pups’ nails while they’re at it.

It’s time for a second cup of coffee and to finish loading the dishwasher. I hope you all have a good day.

I am feeling better. I started improving last night when I didn’t take the timed dose.
No more liquid meds.
I gave a sample and he said it was clear. I didn’t know a uti could clear that fast. I also know one must take a full regimen or else.
The dr. Prescribed me a different one, I had taken it last month so off to get that to stay healthy.
Blah and rainyish but this weekend dries and warms up.

Yes, antibiotics mess with your tummy (and guts further downstream) although I don’t know if liquid vs. pills is better or worse. I suspect it’s an individual thing - we all have slightly different bodies & slightly different body chemistry.

Anyway, I’m glad I don’t hafta give you the “take a full course!” lecture.

Okay, I had the rest of my cheesecake & most of a chicken pot pie for “breakfast” and Mr. Sandman has paid a visit, so it’s off for a few more hours of sleepytime.

Hoping to call the IRS before work today (I start an hour later than yesterday) and reeeeeally hoping to get this shit settled. Hell, I’m just hoping I get through to someone.

Mornin’ all. It’s about 8am as I start to drivel. Been up an embarassingly long time caffinatin’, wastin’ time on the internet, re-organizing some drawers, etc. NWS says sunny and 81/27 on the way to 94/35.

As to y’alls last 60 posts from noonish Tue …

Here’s hoping that all goes smoothly for everyone.

I can sure tell your mind and mine work differently.

The thought of being released from all family obligations for a week would never have me thinking “Now which chores can I accomplish while they’re gone?” Instead I’d be thinking “Which recreations can I engage in while they’re gone?”

And professionally speaking, here’s another vote for arranging for airline / airport people to provide a wheelchair and pusher for aged MIL. FCD is in no shape to be herding luggage and Mom and all her support gear. Now reading further down, I see you / FCD have already addressed this.

{{Baker}}. I wish there was more I could do for you.

This.

And this.

Coming from a gay man who’s widely known to be very particular about his furniture, that’s high praise. I humbly thank you, good Bear!

Silly question. Best idea evah!

Besides, breakfast is always served in twos: two eggs, two strips of bacon, two pancakes or waffle sections, two toast points, etc. So the only proper way to eat breakfast cheesecake is two slices.

Off to start my day!

I’m so freekin’ healthy! Good lab numbers and no real issues. But I will be getting a cardiology baseline exam, just in case. There are no indications of heart problems, but like Christine says - we do mammogram and colonoscopy, so why not have a look at my heart? I need to call and set that up.

MIL is still abed, FCD was gone when I got home. I’m chilling till MIL is up, drugged, and fed. OK, drugged isn’t the right term - I need to give her the morning meds. I’m pretty sure that having regular meals and taking her daily meds every day has worked wonders for her. When she was living alone, we’d go to her apt and find random pills on the floor - she couldn’t see that she’d dropped them. Plus she’d often forget what to take and when to take it. That’s all straightened out now. She’s even gained almost 11# since being here - from a low of just under 88#. Despite the stress on us, moving her here was the right thing to do.

Those of you who are friends with my sister on FB have no doubt seen that she’s back in the hospital. Something didn’t go well after her hernia surgery and they’re keeping her at least one more night. It has something to do with the air that they used to inflate her abdomen and her bowels not functioning now. So she’s not a happy camper. I’m 11 years older than she is and I don’t have half the problems she does. Good clean living for the win! :stuck_out_tongue:

Good morning all. Kidneys woke me up about 6am, went back to bed until 7am, just to show them they are not my boss. Thinking about mowage, it is on my weekly schedule for Thorsday but may go ahead and do it today. Also will try to get back to my 3-days a week swimming regime, the stitched area looks healed over well enough to do my backstroking. Another clear day with highs in the 80’s, but the weekend is shaping up to be rainy, according to the Weather Wizards.

FCM, sorry to hear about Sis, hope they get it right this time. I wouldn’t be happy either. And DCA is the smallest of the three airports near you, so that should help some.

Cupcakes, sorry to hear about your shoulder, seems that they would have found it earlier. Any idea how it came to be dislocated, obviously it hasn’t bothered you much if it came as a surprise. Sending positive waves and good thoughts your way and will try to help out when I can.

Oh, and if you ever decide you really want to try hot and sticky weather, visit St. Louis, Missouri in July sometime. Pilot and I can testify to hot (90F) and sticky there. And don’t think I’ve ever heard “up at the crack of sparrow’s fart” in my life, but I like it.

Not a cheesecake fancier, but as one who had eaten White Castles for breakfast on more than one occasion, you do you and be happy and pleased with yourself. Hope you make contact with the IRS and actually get assistance.

Taters, hope things go well for the pups. Is Maisie out of heat yet?

Coppertone, glad you are feeling better. And finish the medicines.

OK, need to finish the morning internettin’ and then probably go ahead and mow the lawn before it get to hot. Have a good Hump Day all.

Ok, I do not get this…

Daughter was told to get Roxy’s eyes checked because she might need glasses. MIL said she hopes Roxy doesn’t need them because when TX BIL was little, he needed glasses and he kept losing them.

WT-everlovin’-F?? Her son was irresponsible so Roxy would be better off not needing glasses?? That, however, is not impending dementia. That’s the way she’s always reasoned. Apparently, her experiences are universal.

< deep cleansing breath >

Rain isn’t due till later this afternoon so I should be able to finish raking. Just got to don grubbies.

Prayers being said. Depression after surgery is real. Bless your sister for all her helping out.
