You’re right! It’s been a long week.
That’s what I get for not being religious.

Lunch with my college friend went well! I’ll admit to a bit of relief in that regard: we’ve kept in touch via FB, interacting every now and then, but you never really know what someone will be like 31 years after the last time you saw them in person. Happily, I was totally reminded of why we were friends back in the day! I liked her husband and brother, too. My 30-year reunion is this year (she was a year ahead of me): I hadn’t planned to go, but she said she might go with me so I might make the trip to Philly. That’s if the college organizes anything: it’s a small private school, and dealing with some significant funding issues at the moment.
The Metro system functioned flawlessly this time, but I manufactured my own 25-minute delay: I forgot that I would need to transfer lines near the end of my trip, and wound up going one stop too far. So when I got off the train I had to wait for one going in the other direction, and when I got back to the transfer station I had to wait for a train on the line I needed. D’OH.
There’s a grocery store right by the station where I parked, so I went there on the way home for the week’s apples, bananas, etc. Happily, they had a few of the Boar’s Head chicken caesar wraps that I like! I found one with an “eat by” date of tomorrow and another with an “eat by” of Tuesday, so now I have lunch for the next two days. They were out of those wraps the last two times I went during the day; I’ll have to try to remember to go on Sundays.
In 2017, I went to Paris with a few friends: as a sort-of joke, I bought each of us Eiffel Tower LEGO sets. Mine had been gathering dust on a closet shelf, but I decided to finally tackle it tonight: it’s much smaller/simpler than the jazz quartet, and I finished it in less than 90 minutes. I’m on my iPad right now and posting photos is much easier from my PC, so I’ll share a pic of the completed tower in the new thread. I think the next set I tackle might be the jazz club, but it’s much bigger than the quartet — and much more expensive — so I won’t be getting that any time soon.
When I first moved to Virginia — in 1998 — I tried volunteering to read to kids at a couple of local libraries. It seemed like something I’d really enjoy. They told me I couldn’t be a story lady without a master’s degree in education! I’m hoping that particular rule has changed by now, but I never looked into it again.
Apparently I really am exhausted. I sent my daily update to my family regarding Dad. Instead of checking my swyping, my “I’m beat” was corrected to “I’m breast”. And honestly, I’m tired enough to not care that this is what I sent to my brother, sister and nephew. Actually, it probably shows just how tired I am so maybe they’ll understand if I miss things.
I’m not able to read to the kids - not sure if it’s a rule that Nashville Public Library has or anything like that - but I do get to help with crafts, dance with them, talk with them and in special cases, hug and snuggle them. It’s not quite as good as when I was teaching 2 days a week, but it’s still pretty darn good.
SCORE! I love getting my hobby stuff that way.
I have that same rule! I’m so glad the days are staying light longer.
I’m so sorry. It’s always sad when one problem is enough to start the cascade effect and then the good thing goes away.
I have a paper calendar on the wall that shows holidays. I had to check myself, which is pretty sad because today I delivered the plastic eggs and a bunch of bags of assorted Easter candy to the community center for the volunteers annual “Making Easter Basket” event. (Yes, I was invited to join them but made excuses as usual.) You would have thought that I would have remembered doing that for at least a couple of hours.
I think the next set I tackle might be the jazz club, but it’s much bigger than the quartet — and much more expensive — so I won’t be getting that any time soon.
I don’t LEGO, but I do hear about it often enough to know that you can often buy the plans for the kit and then buy bins of second hand LEGOs to make your hobby slightly more affordable.
You guys have been too busy for me, so waves and or hugs to anyone I didn’t greet.
It was nice today, but the wind was cold so I didn’t have much porch time. We have bamboo blinds I can open and close during the day to control the sun, but they don’t help much with the wind unless I close all of them and that’s no fun at all.
I pulled our laptop out and started it up so it could chug its way through all the updates so I could take it outside with me when I “move” out there for the summer. I had done this a month or so ago, so it didn’t take nearly as long this time and I only had to push a couple of buttons as I walked by it. I should probably see if I can download D4 tomorrow, I’m out of the mood tonight.
I don’t like to eat bananas. I like the taste, I don’t like the texture. I’d been waking up to foot cramps on a daily basis, so the last time I got bananas in a surplus box, I started forcing myself to eat one a day. I learned that I only need to eat half a day, but I would still “forget” because they were icky.
I have since learned that bananas sliced on top of cheesecake with drizzled chocolate syrup are pretty good, especially when paired with a white chocolate latte, so now I am eating a healthy breakfast every morning because my body needs the potassium and calcium.
cheesecake and chocolate are considered healthy breakfasts? times sure have changed since people threw a fit when I told them mom put chocolate chips in the pancakes …
Chocolate is made of chocolate beans and beans are good for you. Cheesecake is made with milk and cream, both of which are very good for you. The graham cracker crust counts as a grain, it’s practically health food, LOL!!!
We never got chocolate chips in our pancakes to make them healthier, but we did get strawberries and whipped cream on them for a special healthy breakfast.
cheesecake and chocolate are considered healthy breakfasts? t
Mental health counts too, and chocolate is essential for that. Cheesecake is also quite beneficial.
I started a new MMP and am being all responsible. Mark this on your calendars folks, it probably won’t happen again for a very long time.
Recently, my breakfast includes such healthy things as half a banana with coffee . I’m thinking that tomorrow morning I should add some dairy so will whip some fresh cream I’m also thinking I will go to the junction and buy some French Vanilla ice cream for breakfast when I run out of cheese cake. How do you guys take care of yourselves in the morning?
