(OLD) Hey! It's The May-Day MMP!

You have an actual Ariel motorcycle? Cue massive jealousy. Do tell the details.

So happy to hear both Shoe’s & Fish’s stories of getting healthy.

And flyer’s completed greenhouse & cool omelettes. Completed at least until something breaks. (I’d not heard of “Blowe’s” but I like it. I’ve always been fond of “Home Despot”; their often hostile flavor of customer service seems to fit “despot” just fine. You vill take it und you vill like it!

As to my irkly Sunday …
My ride down to Mexico City was fine. Captain Dawn did her usual awesome job. She and her fine crew will enjoy the same long layover I had last Monday, so we shared notes on fun ideas and partyage shall doubtless ensue.

My FO & I settled in for the drive home and met our unfortunate FA’s who’d been 90 minutes late arriving last night. Which gave them about 5-1/2 hours sleep at the hotel that’s inside the terminal building. Poor kids!. One of whom turned out to be my age, but looked ~30. Really. She’s Kenyan and if I was single …

Anyhow, the drone home was fine, the volcano was still spewing, but unlike last Tuesday, now it was mostly white steam, not tan ash. Such fun. After changing shirts in the airport parking lot the drive home with the top down, earplugs in, and tunes cranked was nice. It being Sunday, traffic wasn’t thick, but also wasn’t motivated like they are on weekdays. So frustrating when you run into the back of a clot, but exhilarating coming out the other side into the clear.

Near home l stopped off at a nearby casual-upscale eatery where I am now badgering you folks. Dining outside in the warm breeze, good wine in good quantity, cashew-encrusted goat cheese balls for an appetizer that was tasty with mango salsa, and a large NY steak is coming for dinner w both broiled Brussels sprouts and grilled broccoli.

And the main course has arrived~ Tweeet! Time out! … Fork at the ready! Charge! …

Nom, nom, nom, chomp, chomp, buuurppppp!

As the guy on the Capital One ads might say, that was gooo-oo-ood! Half of it is gone, and the other half is coming home.

I hope Her Ladyship had half as nice an event with her sorority pals. Funny, but sitting near me are 6 ladies in their 70s who evidently gather together rather often. They seem a convivial batch & did some serious damage to their meals too.

I’m going to linger over my refill of wine & consider what comes next.

Cheers all!

Ariel is my horse. She is red and handy. I call her my red Ferrari.

Cool. Funny how cultural expectations cloud one’s perception.

If I was asked to make 10 guesses in order of what Ms. Ariel was, a horse would have come in about number 12. Not that I’m anti-horse, I’m just non-rural. I do enjoy small-town rodeos though, so I’m not a city elitist. Much.

I bet she’s lovely in addition to a lot of fun.

I must say, it is nice to only have the sciatica to deal with. It was 2 days of “I think I’m gonna barf” pain in my left shoulder and woke up today with nothing. I guess I pinched a nerve and it got un-stuck? I dunno.

Well, the game itself sucked, but now the phrase “Wood goes hard, penetrates Pyotr’s five hole” is now part of the Interweb forever. I went for a walk after the game, just in case a certain bat eared dog was around, and because what is drinking without staggering?

Yay!

Nice moves by Tobias and Roxstar, Mooommmm!!!.

I was there on Friday and 3 different staff people helped me out very quickly and courteously.

Now you’re talking! YUM!!!

Washed the dishes, well about 7/8 of them. Went to work; thought it would only take about 2ish hours but took 3-3/4 due to weird things that happened/came up. Then went Krogering. Ran into a former coworker who changed departments and is somewhat of a bigwig there. We need some assistance from said department and he said he would look into it tomorrow. So hungry when I got home, I just put away items needing to be refrigerated then made myself a hotdog with mayo, tomato and freshly picked green onion.

To me, that’s a power mower. A push mower operates by being pushed.

What’s that?

Nandi was jumping around all over the kitchen trying to catch one yesterday. Fortunately, he didn’t, because it turned out to be a bee. I opened the door for a couple minutes, and it obligingly flew out.

My dreams are usually about the Navy (sub, tender, and/or Scotland) or Sears. I’ve even managed to combine the two into one setting: Working in the back room at the store, and the armed roving watch came into Receiving to use our computer to log being relieved…

Bathroom scale says I’m down from 247 to 242. No celebrating until I’ve seen what it says next Sunday.

A local greenhouse sent us a $25 coupon, so we decided to buy a few plants whilst waiting for seeds to germinate. Got a couple more hot peppers and a few heirloom tomato varieties.

It’s been mostly a weekend of slothage here at Chez Wheelz, though I did put together a console cabinet for my office. After tackling Murph, that was a piece of cake. Plus, I’d done the same one before.

We bought the cabinet a while back for Mrs W’s office. Turns out it was short one small piece of hardware, needed to attach one of the doors. I said that I could just rig something with a nail or a screw or something, but she (rightly) called the seller to request the missing piece.
The answer came back that they did not have that replacement part in stock, so instead they sent us an entire new cabinet. So after completing the door assembly on her cabinet, I decided to put together the second one for my office. Used a nail in place of the missing part and it works just fine. It’s not exactly what I was looking for in there, but the price was right.

This evening’s repast shall be pizza and vodka martinis.

Banana
Rice
Applesauce
Toast
It’s what you eat when your tummy is upset.

Like Shoe, though, I don’t like bananas. Just the smell makes me gag,

I guess I am going to be working my ass off tomorrow since I didn’t do much today.
I need to schedule a blood test, at least I don’t have to fast.

And a good late afternoon to you all. Went to the Golden Corral around 11:30am, a 40-minute drive, and boy howdy, I am glad they are no closer than that, or all my weight loss efforts would be in vain. Started with some bacon and a biscuit left from breakfast, then started dinner with a salad and soup, then went onto a heap of Pot Roast with rice and gravy, and finished with small bits of chocolate cake, pecan pie, and a couple of cookies. All for about $20. Left feeling stuffed for the first time in awhile.

Was going to do some stops en-route to home, but my bowel sent up a warning that means ‘the next time you sit down it better be a toilet’, so stright home. Then I made the error of laying down for a little nap…

…3.5 hours later…

Well, at least I’m well rested, but don’t feel like eating anytime soon and will probably have to stay up late before heading off to bed. Such is life.

So for all you ambitious people who worked or did useful things today…NOT ME!!!

FCM, the lad has got some moves! And Roxy appears to be paying attention to the adult dancers rather than just doing her thing. Impressive.

Pilot, always a little amazed that the ‘ride’ or the ‘drone’ you describe is 3.5 hours long at 7 miles above the surface…heck, even driving that far at ground level will wear on me. Nice to have a partner in the cockpit. And I’m not married, think you could introduce me to that stewardess…??

shoe, glad you got some good rest. and Monkey vs The Flying Monsters of Earth should be entertaining.

Got one of three packages I ordered from a place in England (it’s a soccer gift for the kids I coach). Package came through New York to Atlanta to my area, but according to the mail tracking the other two packages went directly to Tuscon, Arizona for reasons unknown. We’ll see how long it takes to get them to N. Ali-bama.

Ok, need to do my water meter check and decide what needs to be done to keep me awake until later tonight. It’s still 82F outside, have resisted turning on the AC but may not resist much longer (tonight will be a cool 65F).

If I don’t get back here tonight, everyone have a good evening/morning and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

When Her Ladyship got either food poisoning or some stomach infection a couple weeks ago BRAT is what she did for a week-ish thereafter. Wiki says it’s an OWT (Old Wive’s Tale). I suspect the latter, but in the name of domestic bliss (and eventual sex) I totally supported the former interpretation. How wise you are, Dear!!!111!z1.

Did already!

Haha!

We only had to stop the car and threaten to turn around once! You would think that they are six years old at times! The secret for this is that I’ve actually done it at times so they never know when I’m bluffing.

I hauled the biiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow, so I can say I did a productive thing. Netflix and chill have taken up the evenin’ here in da cave. Soon we shall make ourselves horizontal.

I wheeled our trash bin to the street, and took out the recycling. (I cut up the cardboard boxes the greenhouse came in, and put it in the recycle bin yesterday.) The Spousal Unit had Trader Joe’s Le Délice de Bourgogne triple-cream brie and Dave’s Killer Bread toast for dinner. I had a ⅓-pound burger with two slices of avocado and most of a half of an avocado on Sara Lee Delightful Whole Wheat bread with mayonnaise and Dijon mustard, the rest of the half of the avocado, and some of that nearly-liquid brie.

The only thing better than that stuff is that stuff after you unwrap it then age it in the fridge about 2 months. Yummy. I’ve got abuot a half a wedge left myself. Thanks for the reminder, it might need to be devoured here later this evening. Unless a nap attack ends the evening altogether.

Ok, got to get off the computer. Just ended up with a new meeting tomorrow. Might be good? Fingers crossed cuz the rent just went up for my shop.

No idea. I’m sure there were many companies that made these tables.

I’ve looked at it, and I think it’s something that I can re-create. Ten slats are nailed to two crosspieces. Taller end slats have two slots each in them, and tongues on the crosspieces are glues into them.

As for the legs, I don’t have (or know how to use) a lathe so I can make tapered legs. But Amazon has some. The table currently has legs about 11 or 11½ inches in length. Amazon has 12-inch legs that look simple to attach.

What I don’t know: What kind of wood should I use? Ash? Pine? And: Will the slats warp when I stain them?

Whoops. I forgot it’s Monday, and there’s a new thread. I’ll re-post this in the new one.
