(Old) Highlight of the day - Dyeing in the MMP

It’s been mostly sloth today. I did manage to go to the grocery outlet, so the freezer, snack jar and TP are replenished.

Ok, either I had another seizure today or I dozed off while reading in my recliner. Somehow I lost an hour of my afternoon…

:sleeping::sleeping::sleeping:

Finished my leftover steamed shrimp and broccoli for supper. Now I’m in chillage mode again. After a morning of choreage, I was mostly a bum. Yay, retirement!

Cool!

my bro and his sweetie sent pics today at the Bean. Great weather extremes this weekend to explore onion town

I envision rather more … vigorous … uses. :rabbit: :rabbit2:

But yeah, a lolling sunbathe will be nice as well. That much at least should be tomorrow morning.

I have never heard of this abomination before just now. Hard Ugh.

I too am guilty of “gonna” now and again. I’ll probably be dead for a decade or 3 before I utter “finna”. Shudder.

Some things aren’t funny to joke about. Scared me good you did there for a couple seconds.

Congrats on a fine nap … I hope!

Yeah, it was a nap. Sorry for the fright. Somehow Sense and Sensibility wasn’t keeping my attention.

Happy Saturday!

Very windy today.

We had a nice morning at the dog park.

I ordered and picked up groceries and had some frustration dealing with CVS.

Thank you for the bedtime story Doggio

Hope you are better soon Pilot
Ooopsie does have a dog, named Bailey.

My dogs are making me crazy.
Before we had a doggie door, every time they came in, they got a treat. Now with a doggie door, they would be getting many treats. They don’t ask for treats all day, but eventually one of them, usually Rayleigh will ask for one.
They are so spoiled. If I pull out a treat that Rayleigh doesn’t want, he will turn to look at the other dogs and say, can you believe this shit she is trying to give us? Then he will take two steps backwards and wait until I pull out something else. When I finally get out the kind he wants, then all three will accept it.
I am so easily trained.

I’m guilty of not eating the heels of the bread.
If I buy white bread, it’s to make grilled cheese. I can get eight sandwiches out of one loaf, excluding the heels. My skillet will hold four grilled cheese, so I make two batches of four. My son will wrap the leftovers in foil and eats them later in the day.
The heels are usually too thin to make a decent grilled cheese.
I’ve thought about throwing bread in the yard for the birds, but I don’t want birds coming in the yard. Echo is too good at catching them.

I’m sorry for your BIL trouble. Not much you can do though.

One of my mentally disturbed friends called me. I hate talking with her, I do it out of kindness than wanting to talk to her. There are very few people left who will talk to her.
She believes she was abducted by aliens, years ago. They experimented on her body, and damaged it in the process. She believes they come back on a regular basis, impregnate her, then take the baby away. If she is walking down the street and somebody either bumps into her, or makes eye contact with her, it’s one of them. She carries a tray to hand to cashiers so she doesn’t have to touch their hands when exchanging money.
Fortunately, she never talks long, because they might be listening.
I can’t imagine living in fear and paranoia like she does. But there’s nothing to do about it.
She called me crying because she is ‘pregnant’ again, and my brain wants to scream, no you’re not, but it won’t do any good. She’s been in the psych ward; all it did was teach her to shut up.

Evening all. Spent nearly 7 hours at the Brookfield Zoo and could have used another hour, it is a great place to spend a day, IMHO, dinner with an old friend who gave me a nice place to visit tomorrow (the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL), so that is the plan for Sunday. Monday is still up in the air.

Wish I could catch up with you all, got myself a new wireless mouse at Target but just to beat to keep up. So some last-minute hugs, tears, boos and cheers, and plenty of positive waves. Catch all y’all on the next MMP, which will see my return to Ali-bama in time for the 4th (I hope).

I napped. Spot cleaned my head. I had a Vieux Carré and Asian BBQ stirfry.

Thank God, because who would keep up with The List

< Spot limbers up yeeting paw >

Holy sweaty balls, Batman! First nice-weather weekend day (there’s been a ton of rain in the Mitten State lately) and a holiday to boot … we went from “we’re open!” → “45 minutes wait time” :rage: in no time flat.

Nothing really went wrong, just … so. many. orders. at. once.

Oh, and did I say something earlier about a shy new guy, wondering if he’d last?

Narrator: “That was fast.”

Anyway, “early out” my ass, I got home at ezzactly the stroke of midnight like Cinderella.

Having a bit of some very high-octane indica (weed) and running up quite a grocery list, while pondering what’s actually edible 'round here meanwhile.

ETA JFC I joined in 2009? I even remember the 1st thread I started it was about my mother, some things really don’t change but dang, so much of my life has changed since then.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/56f with a predicted high of 16c/61f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s cloudy and probably good day to fucking read a book. But if you have a horse, it’s also a good day to fucking ride a horse.” There you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth!

Happy Doperversary, shoe!

I heard him poking around in there yesterday but no idea what (if anything) he was looking for. I suspect today he will get sidetracked as usual, typically by a cat on his lap and a computer game he can’t find a good save point for.

Moooom I always used to save the heels of the loaf for last, and have them to dunk in soup.

sari I am sorry about your friend, you are kind to listen to her even though it clearly hurts your heart to do so.

Wheelie safe travels home!

metalmouse that sounds like a really good zoo to visit, I’m putting it on my list

I was up bright and early for a Sunday, got the fuzzbutts tended to and then had a quiet cup of tea before firing up the laptop. I’m sheveled and sufficiently presentable to be about the Great Unwashed as I have a need to be out and about today.

Cheese on toast has been scoffed for breakfast, I have another cuppa and I’m scribbling this before I pack myself up to go out. Today’s little adventure is a summer fete at Springhill Cricket Club where our cat charity has a stall. Hopefully people will be generous and we will raise a bit of much-needed cash to help feed and medicate all the mogs we have in the rescue.

I said I’d go early to help set up and will stay as long as required since I don’t think there are may of us available today. I took a couple of tubs of curry out of the freezer so they will be tonight’s dinner as I probably won’t feel like cooking when I get back if I’ve been on my feet all day.

Right…better get on then!

I do enjoy my brain’s ability to make interesting errors when reading…. I read this as “…where our cat has a charity stall.” I wonder what cats would attempt to raise money for?

It’s 4:36 and I’m up and hanging with Annie. I’m about to start some work in a few. I was trying to get some things together yesterday for a sale, but my legs and knees were hurting so badly, that I honestly was having a hard time walking. As a result, I ended up sitting on the couch for quite a bit of the day after we got home from our errands. Hopefully today is better. I have ordered new shoes and they should be here tomorrow and I’m hopeful that they will help.

Always eat the heel/nosey of the bread. It’s not great for sandwiches, so it usually gets eaten with peanut butter or nutella. Unless it’s corn season, then it’s used for buttering corn and then it gets et.

Tried to go for a walk, but we got to chatting with the neighbors and then it was raining as soon as we went out the door. Came back in and I baked cookies from dough balls in the freezer and then put together a poppy seed yogurt breakfast cake/loaf. By the time that’s done baking, the rain should have stopped, so we’ll try the walk again.

Lunch will be spaghetti bolognese. As the sauce is also from the freezer, it’ll be quick to cook.

Trying to catch up on chores. Yesterday we finally got rid of a 20 year old monitor that’s really past its prime, plus a 24 year old lamp that we stopped using about 20 years ago. Probably both could have gone out the door some time ago, but there was the idea that we might find a use for one or both of them. But now enough is enough and they are gone.

Got a PDF form to fill out for getting new driver’s licenses, but filling it in online means the output doesn’t line up with the boxes. Hubby says to leave it as it’s still easier to read than handwriting. I think some people/organizations just don’t understand forms.

Also need to figure out flights for our cruise. The cruise ends in a non-major town which has a relatively small airport. There are no direct flights to the cruise starting point.

Isn’t Sunday supposed to be a day or rest or something like that? At least I don’t have to go to the office today.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 93 and rainy(ish) for the day. An executive decision has been made to be heathens. I have no duty to perform and neither of us is inclined to purtify or leave da cave today. Thus we shall be RDOS with copious sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’. Since Dicey has inspired me, sup shall be sketties 'n meatballs, sallit and cheesey garlic bread.

Red you accomplished food, snacks, and tp. I say that counts as some high quality productivity.

J_Bats I despise the word “finna” as well. I tolerate it in others, but it will not be a part of my lexicon. I feel the same way about “tryna.”

MOOOOOOM yay for you and bein’ a RDOS!

Pilot if you got in your chaise lounge on the balcony and had breakfast, you could accomplish balconatin’, while lounginatin’, and baconatin’. That would be some world class RDOS stuff!

sari the doggos have indeed trained you well! You are a good friend to your friend. Sometimes all you can do is just listen.

MetalMouse glad you had a good time at the zoo and got to have dinner with an old friend. Looks like Chicago will be the best stop on your trip.

shoe happy doperversary!

BooFae hope lots and lots of money is raised today! Good for you for doin’ that.

Dicey you have inspired me. I was thinkin’ of what I could make for suppage on a rainy(ish) day. I have meatballs and skettie sauce in da freezer. Perfect!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. It’s already 80 outside, so Spot and I shall sloth after cleaning. Well, I’ll clean. Mr. Small Egyptian God is busy watching his vermin show.

It’s the DMV. Forms aren’t supposed to be understood.

If you owned Mr. Ed, he could read to you while you rode him.

:cake: :partying_face: :champagne:HAPPY DOPERVERSARY SHOE!!!:champagne: :partying_face::cake:

Higgs tries this, but I’m mean. The only time she gets a treat after coming in is for her evening pee. I let her out generally between 7 and 8, and when she comes in, she gets her cookie. Sometimes she asks to go out a second time (she sits in front of me and barks/whines) then she expects her treat when she returns. Nope - I ain’t fooled!! Tho she doesn’t care what she gets. When we put her in her crate for the night, she gets a few pieces of kibbles and she’s content.

This sort of thing, along with our experience with BIL makes me want to scream. Too muich of society considers mental illness to be a moral failing rather than a physical issue. My mother calls anti-depressants “happy pills” - she never considered having her mentally handicapped sister treated by a mental health specialist. I’m pretty sure someone could have helped with the anger and resentment of her final years, but my mom thought she was just acting out.

The whole health care system makes me angry far too often…

Happy Dope Birthday!!
Aug 1 will be 24 years for me! Too lazy to find the first thread I started, but the first one I responded to was Thread - wonder if it’s still in the archives? Can we search by date? Not going to bother at the moment.

Today’s starting at 79°F on the way to the low 90s, then t-boomers will move in. Overall, not a pleasant day ahead.

It’s been a couple of decades since we lived there, but Jacksonville, FL, had a really great zoo. We were members for some time and watched it as it evolved from meh to WOW!! Should you be inclined to mosey over that way, it may be worth a visit. Unless it’s changed in 20 years.

OMG, I know that thought process. And it’s been compounded with MIL’s stuff that she’ll never use again, we don’t need, but she doesn’t want to get rid of yet. Thank goodness for a big basement!

I had a bit of a headache last evening, which is unusual for me, and when I went in to get ready for bed, I discovered I’d forgotten to take my seizure meds yesterday morning. Maybe that’s a clue? I’m not used to having morning meds, so I need to put the little day-of-the-week container where I won’t miss it. Apparently right on the dresser next to my hair stuff ain’t it. I’m thinking maybe it should live next to my toothpaste. Anyway, after I took my evening dose, the headache subsided. Coincidence?? Who knows. I need to look up side effects and such.

I never did get the yard mowed, and with the impending rain, I really should. So when FCD takes his mom to church, I’ll run John Deere around the back yard. But first, I need to scoop up the cantaloupe vines that are creeping out of the raised bed, then weed whack along the outside of the bed. I need a yard maintenance crew. Too bad I’m not a gazillionaire, dammit.

Daughter and SIL took the kids to the fairgrounds last night for fireworks. She’d bought earmuffs for the kids because Roxy seems to be sensitive to loud noises, and what Roxy wants, Tobias wants. Anyway, they seemed to have a good time. But whether we go to the stadium on the 4th is still up in the air. It’s going to be HOT but I’m leaving it up to Daughter.

The only other chore for today is to decide what we’ll have for supper. Which means I’ll play “What the heck is this frozen item???” Fun for the whole family!!

Happy Sunday!

Mornin’ all! A lazy 8am as I start driveling here. Been up since 5:30ish balconatin’ and caffinatin’ on a warm light gray day that promises rain here and there. Haven’t been chased in by the sun; in fact haven’t even seen it yet. But it has sprinkled lightly a time or three dampening my screen and myself.

As an experiment I took no cold meds at wake-up this morning. Slightly stuffy but otherwise feel 100% back to normal. Yaay for little things!

As expected, my new chaise and side table are a snug fit for the space, but it’ll work. The architects who provide balconies just barely big enough to almost use should be shot. 6 or 12 inches more cantilever would have cost next to nothing and increased the balcony’s usability greatly.

I expect I’ll baconate this morning; it just seems like the Sunday thing to do. Beyond that I’m sorta bewildered at the rest of the day.

I’ve once again successfully filibustered several admin tasks with increasingly short fuses from early last week until the weekend when I can’t do them, only to be consumed by desire to close them out now that I can’t. To be replaced by more procrastination tomorrow on Mon.

Narrator: “The avoidance is strong in this one.”

As to y’all …

That’s a saintly thing to do. Exhausting, but saintly.

Happy cake day!! Time to sing the Happy Doperversary song!

Or as I prefer to put it:

Times change; dysfunction is eternal.

'Twould that it were not so. {{Hugs}}.

Cats.

Boy, I’m glad I read this before breakfast. You, Good Sir, are the RDOStest wit’ da mostest. I shall do just that and report back.

FCM: Ouch on Mom’s stuff. Yeah, you sort of need to leave it underfoot so long as she’s around to see it. The following morning however …

My wakeup pills live by my toothpaste too. Teethbrushing is the one and only step right out of bed that doesn’t ever get forgotten. Insofar as I can remember .

Happy family times today.

Anyone: If we really enjoy spending time with the younger generations, and grouse about spending time with the older generations, what does that suggest about what our own younger generation thinks about us behind our backs?

Welp, the Sun is making occasional peeps through the clouds, my tummy has started to thunder and I don’t want to find out what the lightning is like, so time to put this on the wire, the bacon on the barby, and the bottom on the balcony.

Cheers all!!

Rain started early, so no mowage today, alas…

Well, I’m up and have planned out a route to the train museum, may take longer as I plan to avoid the toll roads (the Chicago area is rife with them) but a little extra driving doesn’t bother me, especially since the place doesn’t open until 11am. It’s only supposed to get to 71F today, I don’t know where the summer went but that’s alright by me. Should fill up the day.

The concessions at Brookfield Zoo work in that you order things on a computer board, then grab a small pad that has a number on it and it tells you when your order is ready. Well, I managed to put one in my pocket and walk off with it, didn’t discover it until last night. So will look into mailing it back sometime, not going to pay $17 parking just to give it back to them.

And put in a bid to upgrade to a ‘bedroom’ instead of a ‘roomette’ for the trip down to New Orleans. Not much and I might be outbid, but WTH, I’ve spent a lot of credit dollars already, might as well use some more. We’ll see how it goes.

doogio, spot might find himself yeeted in that case.

shoe, happy anniversary on the Dope, glad you survived hell night.

Paging wet one.

boo fae, hope the cat charity does well. Good planning on the dinner.

Dicey, I usually trade in monitors about every 5-6 years, just because. Hope the cruise planning goes well.

Actually, I like Washington DC better, easier to get around to the sites and the Smithsonian is free—which damn few things in Chicago are.

FCM, if I get back down to that part of Florida, I’ll check out the Jacksonville Zoo. Seen two this summer so far, may be zooed-out now. My pills (only two and only once in the morning) are by my computer since that is the first place I normally go first thing in the morning. Hope the kids liked the flash-bang-boom.

Pilot, enjoy the 3 B’s.

OK, 8:20am and I want to leave here about 9 so I can stop on the way for some sustenance, so need to get presentable and read to roll. Have a good Sunday all (this is Sunday, isn’t it? Travel sure messes up the days…)

Today is Daughter and SIL’s 7th anniversary. He wants to take her to a hibachi place in Prince Frederick so they’re dropping the kids and Trevor off here around 3 and as long as the restaurant isn’t too crowded, they’ll be back 6-ish. I figure we’ll all hang in the basement, since they’re a bit rambunctious for MIL and FCD.

It’s still spit-raining. Maybe I can get the yard tomorrow. Or Tuesday. Whatevs.

Meanwhile, I need to get some low-dose aspirin. I refilled my pill caddies and that’s the only thing I was short on. And if I don’t get them today, I’ll forget then not be able to take them on schedule. So there’s the plan. Except I need to feed the kids supper - I’m thinking Mac-n-cheese because they love that and it’s easy.

All righty then - off to get my aspirin…

We always did that growing up!

As organized as you are, I’m surprised that you don’t label your freezer contents.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do Sunday chores. Not a whole lot shakin’ at CasaRoja today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
