I need to remember to turn the space heater on in the back room, and the outside faucet heat tape on, tomorrow. I’ll get the bulbs for the hummingbird heater tomorrow, so I’ll remember the heat tape (they’re on the same cord). Not looking forward to the next three or four days.
That is very kewl! We don’t have a need for one out this way, but I can sure see how they would useful in places where it gets cold.
I know folks are getting tired me talking about this, but Tai Chi seriously did great things for me. I can now sit cross legged on the floor and then get up unassisted without pain. I go to a class a week and then do a ten minute routine in the mornings. If I get too stiff and achy during the day, I do more Tai Chi. Ask your doctor about it, my doctor is thrilled that TC is becoming a fad because it is so helpful.
I really hope this is the last time you ever see a plumber in your home!
Thanks for the validation! I’ve always wondered if we were just picky because I’ve seen them in just about every c-store I’ve ever been in, which made me think they were pretty popular.
The ones we got today were packaged 6 per unlabeled bag. I’ve seen Starbucks foods in the boxes in the past so I’m guessing the HB eggs came from a restaurant or diner. Cobb salad anyone?
That is super cute!
You do always say that a tired dog is a good dog.
You’ve been under a lot of stress and pressure this past year, you deserve some time to veg now that things are calming down.
It’s supposed to snow tomorrow. TC friend is fretting about cancelling class to keep us off the roads. That girl is a flatlander, she doesn’t get that the snow will be plowed or melted by the time we head out to class.
Got 3/4 of a mile backstroking in along with 25 minutes of sauna so I will consider myself exercised. Will be heading off to bed fairly early, the plumbers should be back by 8am tomorrow (and hopefully can finish up on Thursday).
Pilot, sounds like a fun evening; enjoy.
Did you mean heat tap? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of heat tape.
Sari, you need to pick a ‘veg-out’ day, tell everyone you’re not doing anything but the minimum (dogs in and out of Sah-son isn’t available) and then DO IT. Might help a lot.
In the interest of brevity–though it was hardly brief–I left out a few details: another woman on the bus also tried to get the sobbing woman to talk. The driver was kind and concerned. And the staff inside the terminal were also sympathetic. Had I done nothing, other people would have aided her. I just had more time than they did.
And yeah, western Mitten State is quite white right now. (Say that 3 times fast!) More is forecast - at least a foot over the next several days, with predicted accumulation of at least a coupla-three inches. That’s a lotta melt!
I really, really hope my friggin’ power doesn’t go out. The forecast HIGH for Monday is a whopping 13 F.
I have a load of mostly socks a-tumblin’ in the dryer, and miles to go before I sleep more clean stuff to put away.
Plus, I really REALLY wanna strip { snerk } the bed, and try out the brand-new deep pocket fitted sheet I got, and also run the space heater in the bathroom for a bit & then take a looooong shower.
I also need to figure out food. The more I eat, the hungrier I seem to be. What a PITA.
I had a lot more free time when I didn’t eat much, though Og knows my health suffered for it.
@LSLGuy you were close when you guessed a while back that I have an aversion to food prep. It’s not that, necessarily … it’s the inevitable associated cleanup that really rolls my eyes for me.
Although prep (and planning, and shopping) for one ain’t easy, either.
Plus the kitchen in my current home has about three square feet of counter space, some of which is taken up by a drying rack because sob there’s no dishwasher.
If I could wave a magic wand and get one of those countertop (or in my case, more likely on the floor) portable dishwashers, I probably totally would.
@JaneDoe42 I keep Monkey’s furry ball (he hasn’t lost it yet!) in a zip baggie with some catnip between bouts of destruction play sessions. Tossed it into a box tonight for him when I got home, and he achieved nirvana.
@BippityBoppityBoo I hope you had a magical day and that everyone was nice to you. Our silly little corner of the internet is made brighter and more informative (and entertaining!) by your presence here with us.
Love it!!
That does sound entertaining!
You just have no idea how good of a person you are, do you?
Anyone with dogs or, ahem, chickens, will probably find a use for them.
I S W Y D T
Must be related to Future Shoe you wouldn’t believe how much shit she’s supposed to be taking care of instead of sitting on her ass on the Dope.
You’ve been in high gear for a while; it’d be weird if you didn’t need to decompress.
The stem cell transplant is scheduled for 11am tomorrow. I said scheduled and not ‘is going to be’ because I’m a tad worried. After Hubs received the last of the 6 days of chemo yesterday, he became dizzy and had some hot flashes. Today he started bleeding around his port, actually catheter. Started at 11am, I made bocatini for him for dinner and it still seemed to be bleeding when I was there in the evening. He’s worried they might need to put a catheter on the other side of his chest. So, we’ll see what tomorrow brings.
Thank you every one of my treasured, beloved Mumpers!
You all made it so I did have a lovely, memorable, filled with friends day~which is just what this bedraggled old girl needed and my magic internetz Mumper friends filled with joy!
They better or they are going to have me and Jane-the-Cane to answer to~mountains will tremble and fall into the sea. Don’t make us use our night nurse voice or lift that mighty sword to righteously smite you unworthy microbes.
No, she does not. We Mumpers need to rise up, unified and convince her (sung to the tune of a civil war camp song).
Move the over the both of yah! I’ve got decades on you~and steamer trunks full of reminders and to do lists and adulting paperwork and the unanswered demands of bureaucracy. My undone ‘to do’ lists have grandchildren about to graduate from college.
I’ll be thinking my best thoughts and sending strength and karma your way.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Ace has had a couple of accidents in Roomie’s bathroom hallway. I made him some beef brown rice to help out. Poor guy, extreme change, and a bad stomach(Stop eating things, dammit!)
Nixon said the same thing. Hope that’s the last leak for you.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 61 and partly N.O.S. for the day. OYKW has a doc appointment at eight-thirty this mornin’. I shall go deal with various duties over to the church house. Then we shall go have N.O.L. at Sonny’s cause the urge for bbq is stong. The afternoon shall be designated for sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe is me!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 4c/39f with a predicted high of 5c/41f and cloudy. Weather app says “Probably not a good fucking beach day.” I would agree with that, it’s cold out there and there’s quite a stiff breeze blowing.
nellie you were very kind to help the homeless lady, and of course you should be concerned about your health if she was unwell. Not self-centered at all as far as I’m concerned. I’m glad there were people around who would help her too.
Wheelie I wouldn’t let a lack of people stop me going to the pub either, but Wednesday night is a regular one with these two particular folks. Fortunately all was well, and we did go out.
doggio I hope Ace adjusts to his new home soon and the little accidents are soon over and done with.
CatGlove fingers crossed for hubs, I hope things go according to plan.
It’s been a busy day so far here - I had a bit of travel trauma this morning as the cross-city line wasn’t running so I had to get a bus from Big City Station to campus, and might have to do the same going home. Got in and sorted out a couple of issues, then had back-to-back meetings until lunchtime.
Such a bizarro night! I fell asleep at a fairly decent time, slept an hour or so, then woke up and could not drop off again until nearly 4 of the AM! Dammit. Then at 7, my bladder insisted I was done sleeping. So I’m feeling like poop on a platter. Plus it’s 27-stoopit-degrees out, which makes me disinclined to venture forth.
FCD wants to hang pics today at his mom’s apartment. I’d rather wait till we get back from our cruise, but I won’t win that one, so I guess we’re hanging pictures today.
From the PITA news department, our local credit union is doing a big software changeover the first weekend in Feb. It wouldn’t be a biggie except I have an automatic payment set up for BIL’s rent on the 1st and we won’t be home till the 6th. However, since his rent is actually a draw by the apartment company directly from his account, they tell me it won’t be affected by the update. Here’s hoping. BIL will totally freak out if he gets some sort of notification.
I also have an automatic transfer set up for Tobias’ tuition that goes directly to Daughter’s bank account, but it happens on the 29th, so that’s good. I hope. I’m remembering when our other credit union did a software “update” - the whole on-line banking thing was totally hosed for like 3 weeks. (Rumor has it the company doing the “update” had some sort of familial connection to the CEO) But it looks like the 2 things that matter to me will be OK - I can make sure things are in order well before the March payments have to go out.
It’s gonna be a long day - there might actually be some nappage in my future.
After a gray Christmas and NY, it looks like we may get some snow this weekend. Not much, but perhaps some ground cover. It’s been a real El Nino winter here.
Made cacio e pepe for dinner last night, which was very yummy. Simple dishes are the best. Fried egg sandwiches this morning, then a short shopping trip for groceries.
I managed to stab myself in the roof of my mouth with a damn potato chip yesterday; one of those kettle-type chips, which are thicker than the regular ones. Actually drew blood. Sure, go ahead and laugh.
Morning all. Up and have broken fast, house is warming, and I am awaiting the plumbing crew to return. It’s 41F heading to near 60F today, so not bad for a January day. Again not much on the agenda, all depends on when the plumbing work is finished, but do hope to do a little shopping at Wal-Mart and make it to the gym for pedaling to nowhere.
FCM, just about a week to go to vacation, right? Hope both the update and nap time work out well for you.
boo fae, happy tea time and bus riding.
doggio, And yeah, this is getting to be a habit I can do without.
cat glove, I hope things get fixed and Hubs can have his procedure.
flyboy, thank you, I am marginally smarter now than I was before.
Should be evicted shortly so have a good one all and I’ll catch up when I can.
G’morning, kids! One big fat degree above zero out today, glorious.
When I stepped out into the hallway this morning a neighbor was coming out of her apartment too and said to me, in a tone of vast surprise: “Oh! You’re pretty!” I guess people in my apartment usually see me with crazy hair and grungy basketball shorts and never when I’ve actually put effort into myself! But it’s winter ceremony day at the college and it’s the last ceremony I’ll be here for, so I got a li’l gussied up.
The car issue is Bad News - I need both catalytic converters replaced, to the tune of $4500. Perils of an ostentatious impractical sports car… The good news is that it’s not an immediate issue. Resetting the trouble code cleared it and it hasn’t recurred, and the mechanic guesses that I might have a year or more before it actually starts causing functional issues. Time to start saving pennies, I guess.
That’s all I’ve got to report - my mad scrambling at work has been productive and I think I have things pretty well squared away for the eventual next librarian. My mad scrambling at home has been productive and all that’s left to pack is bathroom, kitchen, and clothes. I’ll prolly post next from the new digs in S. St. Paul. Love to y’all!
