(Old) I’ve Never Done This Before in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. This mornin’ we are goin’ to get shorn, go over to the church house to deal with duties, and then to the hog trough GC for today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day shall be spent in RDOS inactivity.

Wheelie here’s wishin’ you safe and event free travels home.

red yay for the new toy and the extra goodies included!

MetalMouse conga rats on the award. You deserve it for all your hard work with the little 'uns.

VanGo cool! Looks like it would be fun to climb around on that boat.

shoe hope you’re snoozin’ away as I post this.

BooFae enjoy your weekend of peace and quiet.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe! Woe, I say!

Happy Firday Y’all!

{ looks at time stamp }

Two hours ago? Yeah, I was absolutely dead to the world - thanks!

Up now for what I hope is an abbreviated bio break (I was thoisty! … and had to pee) before plunking back down on my pillow. That was some good, deep sleep I just got, and I want MOAR!!

Another way to look at it - if she’d been a friend of yours and you knew she could afford one, but she asked for your old one, would you have given it to her? But, yeah, huzzah for having it out of your way - it saved you a trip to the thrift store.

For that age group, you should have gotten a medal and a bottle of scotch!! FWIW, I’m impressed with your dedication and stamina. You is good people!

OMG, that is too cool!! FCD would wet himself! What will you be doing to it? Where will it be exhibited?

Very weird night - my thrashing sweetie woke me around 2, I had to move to my right to avoid getting bonked in the head. No idea what he was dreaming, and I’m sure he won’t remember. After I emptied my bladder in the proper receptacle, I managed to fall back to sleep eventually, and I had some bizarro dreams, including one of being in a department store full of cats. But all told, I slept till almost 7, which is sleeping in for me.

It’s laundry day, and I might be able to go to the boat for a bit and help create our plan of attack. If we’re lucky, we might get some boating in this fall. Between buying an older boat (1985 vintage) and the upgrades FCD wanted to do, we pretty much set ourselves up for minimal time out of the slip. And we’re looking at a few $$$ for at least one new battery, probably a new charger, and whatever else the electrician may find (we know them - they won’t screw with us.)

OTOH, once that’s done and once we do what we want to do, we should be ready for some serious cruising after MIL is gone. She seems to think BIL could care for her in our absence, or TX SIL would come stay with her, or she could go back to Indy and stay with her sister. Except we’re hoping to do a several month long trek. Nope, ain’t gonna happen while she’s still alive. We might manage a week at most, maybe.

Anyway, that’s how it goes when you own a boat, whether it’s DIY or paying someone. Things break. You deal or you sell. At this point, we prefer to deal.

My boo-boo continues to heal. It’s at the stage where it itches and it’s got a really ugly and colorful bruise around the stitches. A week from today, the stitches come out. I’m hoping the bruise is more faded by then.

MIL just got up, and I heard FCD in the shower. Guess I should clean myself up now and commence to laundering.

Happy Firday!!

Monkey is browsing the grass (and better not wander far!) and I’m assimilating a mini tube of whomp croissants.

Big excitement of the morning was hearing a bird chirping an alarm call over. and over. and over. and over. until even my lazy ass got up to see what the fuss was about.

A robin was in the giant oak across the street having an absolute conniption AT a hawk, who was peacefully chillin’ and pretending to ignore the tiny squawking nugget flapping & chirping away on a nearby branch.

I took one of my croissants outside to watch the drama for a bit, and was rewarded by the hawk swiveling its head to stare directly at me for a few moments, before deliberately turning its head away from both me & Mr. PissedOffRobin … ezzactly how a cat will turn its head to very loudly ignore your existence.

Just heard about half a zillion sirens go blaring by on the nearby highway.

Someone’s havin’ a bad morning!

Monkey just came galloping back when called, so he’s a good boy & is currently enjoying his squeezy-crack reward while also being very handsome.

The hawk swiveled its head to watch the homecoming proceedings but otherwise didn’t budge a feather.

Good morning.

It’s 51F and clear outside, although the sun hasn’t quite risen. The day will be mostly sunny, with a high temperature of 81F.

Congrats on your promotion and raise, Oopsie!

Yay for a great deal on equipment, red!

It looks like the kitties adore each other, JtC. I love it!

I was exhausted yesterday but couldn’t fall asleep for love or money. I finally drifted off sometime after 1:30 but was awake again at 4:30 a.m.

Anywho, there is much to do today.

I was in a mood yesterday regarding that project being dumped on me. I did have a discussion with my boss, who volunteered to sit in on meetings with me. I laughed and said I couldn’t even get the PIO to respond to the invites and that he (my boss) doesn’t need yet another stupid meeting. Besides, the idea is that I don’t want to be included in the project.

But, stupid me couldn’t concentrate on my regular work after my conversation, so I googled and you-tubed some stuff and spent hours putting together a site. It still doesn’t have the template I would prefer. Still, I’ve created a modern and updated site with links to the available program SharePoint sites, frequently used links, an introduction video, and a few other things. I already know the PIO and the SD will find something to pick at, and when they do, I will tell the PIO he is on his own. I worked late on this thing and ignored my other work. I still need to add some things, including a counter/countdown clock, but I started working before 5:30 a.m. yesterday and didn’t finish until 6:30 p.m.

I need some more coffee and need to feed the pups. Have a good day!

Taters - I worry about how little you seem to sleep. Do take care of yourself!

Waiting for Jessica to come for MIL’s shower. First load in the washer, and I 'm making good ice. Oh, and I’m showered, dressed, and re-bandaged. FCD is headed back to the boatyard to further discuss the electrical issues. So, another day in paradise.

How do you not envy my life?

Good Morning and happy Firday all. Up to another cloudy day, temperature is 72F heading to 83 and a 30% chance of rain, so just another early summer day in North Ali-bama. Nothing much on the agenda, balanced the checking account and looked at the credit cards (both are right where they are supposed to be) so guess I can do the Firday shopping without issues. Swimming is planned and maybe some soccer stuff if the weather lets the fields be open. Otherwise sloth will occupy most of the time.

Nettie, at least you know if the fires ever get bad, you can escape over the worst roads to safety…

lily, think we’re going to require pictures of that back yard/fence when you and wife-unit finish it. Sounds like it’ll be quiet picturesque…

VanGo, Not sure what your part is with the boat, but looks like it’ll keep you and others busy. And do be safe, some of it looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Shoe, hope you’re sleeping while I type this. Take care of yourself (same advice to Taters, 13-hour workdays are sometimes needed, but not in a row). And yeah, hawks can do ‘regal’ like nobody’s business.

boo fae, describing your team manager as “an over-stimulated puppy” may be the most unique description I have ever heard, but one I can relate too. Enjoy your bachelorette days!

FCM, am already looking forward to your 3-month cruise stories. Just don’t fall again today, please.

And that’s it for the morning report. Take care and have a good Firday.

I shan’t board ever again without holding the hand rail. Lesson learned!

Second load in the washer, first in the dryer. The oxy-clean spray took care of the blood stains in my shoe - yay!! Jessica should be here within the hour. FCD found out we don’t need the stoopidly expensive batteries for the boat, just the moderately chokeworthy batteries, so that’s a relief. Any doubt why we love that boat yard??

Apart from running up and down the stairs, I’m making good ice and reading my current trashy novel while waiting for Jessica. So a fairly easy morning for me.

I’m looking forward to seeing your replication of the boat, VanGo, albeit with a higher deck rail.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels in the dryer, a load of clothes in the wash, most of the houseirk done and finishing up the packages to mail. The big things on the agenda today are a trip to the post office, picking up prescriptions and grocery shopping. Then I’ll play with my new toy.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Heat and humidity are rolling back in this weekend. We have to make a 40 minute drive Sunday to the niece’s house, but the AC will keep us chilly. Can’t miss the bbq ribs! Gotta find a route that isn’t a construction disaster.

Wore my “Nope” t-shirt to exercise this morning. It didn’t elicit any comments, but most of those people are half asleep anyway. Thought there might be a fistfight between two of the old gals when one said something about spilling her “goddamn coffee”. The other one took exception to the language. She’s apparently a self-appointed hall monitor. There are a lot of churchy types living here.

Love the Nope shirt!!

Up, working and finally sipping my way through cup of coffee #2 after accompanying overlyboy to his doctor’s appointment. He’s technically an adult but wanted me along to help him navigate, but he didn’t really need me there. It’s nice for him to still want me there, though.

It’s quiet for right now. I’m afraid to get too excited since I just have one more meeting today. Something is bound to blow up, but there’s a chance I may get to have lunch away from my desk.

It’s warm outside and I’ll need to waddle this afternoon. I may lift some light weights instead, though. I’m still coughing occasionally from being sick and it is making me SO impatient. Like, why do I still have goo in my lungs? Why is it still so hard to walk fast, let alone run? Anyway, complain, complain. It could be way, way worse.

Off I go.

Thanks to all for the promotion congrats!

Yesterday’s happy things continued when I got a text from my 22-year-old “nephew” (my BFFs son) asking if I’d like to go to a big Lego expo with him and his girlfriend next weekend! Of course I said yes…and of course I offered to buy the tix. He’s the reason I started building Legos last year; he’s super into them. It’s harder to do aunt-like things now that he’s older, but it’s very cool that he still wants me to hang out with him and his GF – who has become like family, herself, because they’ve been dating since high school and she stays with him/my BFFs during her college breaks (her family is military and currently stationed overseas).

Then, late yesterday the proposal I’m supporting got a 9-day extension – which means I’m off the hook for any weekend work, and I might be able to quit a little early today. I’ve been able to catch up on some minor “to do” list items that had slipped to the bottom, and I’ve also been taking care of my mandatory customer/ gov’t training. I easily passed or tested out of everything except the stupid records management class, which I didn’t pass even after taking the full training! Meh! I have until COB Wednesday to keep trying that test. The minimum for passing is 74%: so far today I’ve gotten a 70%, a 63% (I way overcorrected), and a 73%. Ouch. I’m giving it a rest until Monday.

Meanwhile, my iPad is on my desk and I’m looking forward to watching the Olympics opening ceremony (on Peacock) while I work. I’m a winter Olympics person, but opening ceremonies are almost always worth watching. They’ll be starting any minute now, and the first hour will be commercial-free.

That’s such a great/cute picture!

:crossed_fingers: …!

Would she possibly be interested in listening to old radio shows? When I was suffering from frequent and long-lasting migraines (for two years during menopause) there were nights when I couldn’t look at a book or a screen but needed to listen to something in order to fall asleep, and I found Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar – and it was perfect. I think it’s available from most places that have audio books. I’ve heard every episode a few times now, but will still sometimes listen to it at night. The only annoying parts are the theme music, which is long and kind of loud and plays after every “commercial” break, and the recited credits at the end of every episode. That might bother your MIL. (Of course, there are also other radio shows – comedies, detectives, etc.)

Well done! *high five*

Lookit us Mumpers, killing it out there…

(But seriously, congrats!!)

That’s pretty cool!

What do I look like, some kind of expert? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I mean, I guess they were there for a purpose? Two of the cherry pickers were fully extended and a random big heavy metal thing fell onto the road right next to my car as I was driving by (heard the crew on the ground make unhappy noises) so I guess sumpin’ was goin’ on.

Humorous short stories?

Poetry?

Start a thread in Cafe Society asking for recommendations?

That’s a lovely sentiment.

Took me a sec (“why am I looking at utility lines?”) and then I was like, “Oh, there it is!” but once I saw them all … that’s a really cool photo.

I’m guessing that’s something that’s never happened to you before?

(Shit, I’d have thought I was hallucinating or something.)

For sure.

I’m assuming he was chasing a fly.

Speaking of, someone squashed a possum right in front of my driveway, so I’m sure a whole bunch of sky raisins are about to find their way in here.
(Yes, I already have a maintenance request to replace the crap weatherstripping on my side door - I can see so much daylight along the sides I sometimes think the door is open, and since it’s across from and about five feet away from my potty … :open_mouth: )

Just seared what was supposed to be my lil’ hunk o’cow dinner last night or the night before … wasn’t in the mood for much to eat earlier today (and absolutely didn’t have the energy to cook it last coupla nights) so imma simply take it in with me today & snack on bits of sliced sirloin at work when I can.

… which means dinner for tonight is TBD and everything is gonna be closed by the time I get out.

Shit. Hope I have the spoons left to make scrambled eggs or something at 3 in the goddamn morning.

Anyway, time to brush the ol’ teefies and go do this yet again.
At least I close with Teh Dudes tonight. They tend to be low drama, and towards close are motivated to GTFO.
So I deal with all the last-minute customers (“hi, drunk assholes!”) and they do back-of-house crap. Seems to work well for everyone.

Went to the lab early to give blood so my doctor can figure why my bp shot up.
I must disable my UH page where it shows me my test results.
Looking at them only worries me so I am actually not going to.
I see my pcp Thursday so if something was Way off, she’d call me and/or give me a new med.
I have decided to go off hormones, so now I will start to look older and wrinkly.
Not giving up on the job front. My rent is paid til Oct. 1 but still, I need spending money.
I am trying scratch off tickets because I do enjoy my Dunkin.
Cross appendages, I called a pizza place; and I do have experience.

Howdy Y’all! We got shorn, things got did, and we were pigs ate at the hog trough GC. It’s been mostly cloudy instead of the predicted mostly N.O.S. so no quality cee-mint pond. ‘Tis also hawt out so nappage and day drinkin’ in the a/c worked out just fine.

Cookie I agree. Ribs are worth a forty minute drive. The Nope shirt is a hoot!

Oopsie cool on the nephew for wantin’ to hang with his aunt! Yay on the extension. Good idea to give the test/trainin’ a couple of days rest. You’ll pass on Moanday, I just know it.

OMG! I am so happy for you, that’s pretty exciting

The plumbers have been here all day. The dishwasher, garbage disposal and R/O system has been installed and hose bibs replaced. The guy in charge found a leak under the sink and sent the guy who made the mistake after parts to fix it. That guy brought back the wrong parts and got sent back to get the right ones. The in charge guy did what he could without the necessary part and spent the rest of the wait time power smoking real tobacco out on the other side of the fence. I told him that he could smoke on the porch and he said his boss didn’t want his workers smoking on their customer’s property as a sign of respect.

He’s very not happy, they should have been on their way home by now.

It is a little known fact, but there are elk in AZ and I used to dodge them whenever I was up north. The difference is that the trees in Flagstaff are cut back away from the road so you have time to see them before they got to the road…as long as they weren’t running. Elk don’t run often, but when they do, you don’t want to get in their way.

They aren’t native, they were imported from WV in at the beginning of the 1900’s.

I wish my picture had shown how magical the webs look sparkling in the morning sun.

Too late!!! He wants to hide under the bed and she wants to sleep ON the bed so she got under the bed and a bunch of hissing happened. They spent the afternoon curled up on the bed together.

I’m glad you are enjoying your Jeep, we had a lot of fun with ours.

Very cool, I’m jealous

Indeed!!! Maybe a gold plated referee holding a plumber’s wrench in one hand and a check book in the other.

Congrats for the well deserved award.

You are a good mom, he wasn’t comfortable going alone and asked you instead of a friend.

And that’s coming from a retired food stamp worker.

Oh hell no. The forest is beautiful and awesome and has to be fought off daily because it grows right down to the road overnight and you can’t see what’s ahead because it winds and twists so much.

I have only hit one critter in my life (a jackrabbit), but that might change now. :frowning:

Well, the dr. Tried to prescribe me a bp cuff. My pharmacy doesn’t do that, I have to contact a medical supply company, next week. Guess I will just have to bus to a higi station to check it. Grr.

Supper was a pseudo salad bar at home - sack o’salad with a platter of 'maters, cukes, celery, onion, mushrooms, black olives, and some cheese. Plus I baked some whomp biscuits. Quick and easy.

Tomorrow, FCD will take the boat to the boatyard to get fixed. Turns out they can get to it now instead of next month.

I stopped at BIL’s apartment to talk him down… he was all wound up about a recurring charge on his Visa and MIL was no help on the phone. As I suspected, it was his cellular bill. For some reason, he panics about his credit card. Long, ugly story behind it that I won’t share.

Anyway, another day winds down and I shall chill.

I just got one for 20 bucks from amazon. This one. I ain’t saying it’s the best, but it works.

Up from afternoon nappage. I seem to be napping waaay more than I used to, even just a couple months ago.

JtC I’ve hit 1 critter (raccoon), but have had 3 deer hit my car. I count it as they hit me since they ran into the side of the car. It was fun explaining fur in the door gap to the rental company.
