Went to tha grocery store.
They have a Higi station; it checks your weight and bp.
It was 122/79!
I feel good about that. Still not sure about quitting hormones. I await my dr.s call on that.
Howdy Y’all! Mowage was completed and since then I have been in high sloth RDOS mode. Quality cee-mint pond time, nappage, and day drinkin’ to be exact. Retirement is good! Sup got nuked and et and the kitchen cleanded up. Now I look forward to Netflix, chill, and popcorn.
Oopsie conga-rats on the promotion and more money! The flowers are purty.
JtC AWWWWWW… big brother and little sister look so happy together!
How lovely! May you all have many happy and healthy years together.
Yay on the promotion, Oopsie!!
Glad the kitties are getting along, JtC. What an adorable pic!
We finished up a bit early today, and I almost talked myself into going down to Brooklyn for one more baseball game. Sanity won the day, however; after getting most of my packing done and resting in the room for a couple hours (I tried to nap but didn’t quite drop off), I was not feeling energized. And even though I don’t have to get up early tomorrow, I probably wouldn’t have been back to the hotel until midnight or later. I hope to be deep in slumberland by then. No regrets.
Hoping for a surprise-free travel day tomorrow.
MetalMouse - we can’t plan any real boating till MIL is gone. But we hope to make a trip to Maine before we die, so there’s that.
JtC - kitteh love!!
Got some t-boomers and rain earlier so no watering required. MIL has fallen asleep listening to an audio book. I have a tough time finding books she’ll like. She doesn’t want bad language or gore. She asked for some John Grisham, but she didn’t like the ones I picked. I’m going to try Agatha Christie next. It’s frustrating because she claims she doesn’t care, but she does, and she has no suggestions.
Other than that, a chill evening.
Did I already say I bought a new fan? It’s in my bedroom. I put the old box fan out by the power pole with a 'Free - Works - Needs dusting ’ sign on it yesterday, and someone took it within a couple/few hours.
Today someone on the neighbourhood FB group asked if anyone had a fan because hers broke. We had another box fan just sitting out in the shed, so she came over and got it a half-hour or so ago. I told Mrs. L.A. that I gave away another fan (and told her it was the one in the shed), and she said, ‘Oh, good!’ She likes it when I get rid of stuff.
The woman who needed the fan was not driving a POS car. Not an expensive one, but a good-looking American midsize sedan. She probably could afford to have bought a new fan. But I wasn’t doing anything with the one in the shed.
Two people on the FB page told her of the fan, ‘Just go buy one.’ One guy said she was always begging for free stuff. She said there’s nothing wrong with ‘asking for help’, and that she has no family (her profile says she was widowed last October). She’s head cashier at McDonald’s, and her profile says she also works at a phlebotomy lab. So yeah, she didn’t really need a free fan. But whatever. I have a little more room in the shed.
Maybe look at Janet Evanovich’s Plumb series. Start with One on the Money. They aren’t really that much fun to read in print (too much eye rolling), but the voice actor she uses could probably make a shopping list entertaining. The best part is that you don’t really have to keep track of what’s going on because it is constant slapstick and there aren’t that many different main players involved.
I’ve listened to all of them but the latest and that’s just because I haven’t gotten my Logan county library card yet and feel it would be “cheating” to get it from Yavapai County.
I told GG and Bella how cute everyone thinks they are and they agreed. He wanted another Queen and she is happy to fill that spot in his life
If you give ten beggars money and nine of them were scammers, you have still done good in the world.
Besides, you have more room in your shed and weren’t using the fan anyhow.
So dinner was yum and lunch tomorrow will be scrambled eggs with left over chicken livers and air fried almost potato chips. If the plumbers are still here, there will be plenty to share.
We’ve been getting regular afternoon rains and I just love watching the magical water falling from the sky. Our front porch isn’t quite deep enough, my glasses get misted on but we are going to make another sitting area under the short carport because we both love to watch the rain.
At night the spiders make webs that get covered with the morning dew.
I haven’t seen any more bears (not sure that’s what it was but Occams Razor is probably right in this case) and the lack of Wendigos and Mothmen has been comforting, but a #@$$% elk leaped over my car when I was heading to the small grocery sto. Scared the crap out of me and there wasn’t anywhere to pull over so I could stop shaking, so I sat in the parking lot and smoked enough to make me spend extra money on ice cream that wasn’t on my list. Chocolate and potato chips weren’t on my list either but they jumped in my cart as well. Fucking elk.
Ouch! I hope that you get some relief soon.
Yay on the dishwasher JtC!
It’s the damn dump truck you have to watch out for (that’s what hit my car before its second oil change).
Or die of scurvy!
Conga-rats!
I’m guessing that you meant oopsie.
Awwwwwwww…
It also may have given the fan a bit more use before going to the landfill. IME, stuff with electrical wiring is sometimes damaged by rodents or varmints when kept in an outdoor shed.
Irked, came home, walked Nelson, then loaded him up in the car to drive an hour north for my new-to-me die cutter. Now that the need to feed has been taken care of, I’ll hook it up and test it out. I will also see what all other goodies came with it. Unless this one is fried, I got a really good deal.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
OMG!
I’ve sorted my haul and tested my machine. The machine works as advertised, there were 15 cartridges with it (11 of which I didn’t have), a cartridge carrying case for when I travel, and two tools that I can always use. The only thing missing was the power cord, of which I already have two. The seller was a retired school teacher, so all of the cartridges were fonts, but they usually have some interesting other stuff on them. Had I purchased this box from eBay, the total would have come to over $400 instead of the $80 that I spent. It was worth the drive.
And a quick late evening update. Meeting was well-attended and I got an award for my refereeing 10-12 year olds, named after a long-time ref who passed away this year; so I guess I have that to look forward to in the future when I’m gone; some award for soccer refereeing named after me. It wasn’t anything fancy, just an automatic ball pump, but it was still nice to be recognized. Came home and snacked a bit and will be off to bed here in a little while.
Coppertone, good news on the BP, but don’t get overconfident, doubt those machines are calibrated very often.
Wheelie, probably a good idea to sloth, I always try to have an easy day before traveling home. Safe journey.
Flyboy, someone who can use it got the fan and you got extra space; I’d say it worked out well, even if she could have afforded one.
JtC, between the felines and the wet webs, you do have an eye for the photographs; much thanks. And I had to look up 'elk in W, Virginia, thinking you might have misidentified it, but nope, there are Elk in W. VIrgina and you almost got hit by one. ANd it got you Ice Cream and Potato Chips, so that sounds like a good day to me…
red, glad things worked out so well on the sale, hope the seller is happy with their money, sounds like she could have charged more for it.
And that concludes the Thorsday reports. See y’all on Firday.
I napped. I made Smoked Paprika Chicken. [quote=“purplehorseshoe, post:152, topic:1004594”]
Beer then liquor
Never been sicker
Liquor then beer

I was thinking about tonight’s Mai Tai.
Congrats on getting a I and a O, Oopsie!!
Well, to replace the gin that Spot keeps guzzling.
Awwwwwwww
Well the Elantra going 15 over in the right lane almost took the dump truck out.
Sounds like they’re settling in together just fine, and that George is accepting that Bella’s in charge. Just hoping we don’t wind up having to expand her name to Bellatrix.
Probably part of how she affords a decent car, finding ways to get other needs met more frugally.
DH and I were roaming most of the day, including some stuff that IMO did not qualify as roads. DH loved it :). News sites were reporting a nasty fire at a recycling facility within a few miles of our home, but it seemed to be out by the time we hit Sacramento. There’s also a rather horrifying fire a couple of hours north of me. Started yesterday afternoon, is already over 125,000 acres. Someone’s been arrested for allegedly intentionally starting it.
Well, that would have been poetic justice for dump truck that tried to take my Elantra out.
More fence staining (we’re about 1/3 done plus I’ll need to mask the edges where it touches houses and do the detail work). We went to a new-to-us nursery and admired many plants, then went to Lowe’s for mulch, black river stones, paver-setting grit, and unamended topsoil. Tomorrow my lovely wife will get 3 more gallons of stain so we can keep working. So far, no rain, but we hope for it over the weekend. I had planted out some herbs and flowers; today I mulched them and set in a row of river stones to keep them safe from the HOA lawnmower. I also cut back the viburnum like nobody’s business.
So I got to climb on the boat today.
Pretty cool way spend a thursday morning. Scary how low the railing is, like below knee high. We’re not going to make it that short on our exhibit version.
Work wasn’t too bad, though I’m not looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow. Closing three nights in a row - including a Long Night - takes it out of ya, and I ain’t gettin’ younger.
Came home, though, to find that SOMEone had cleared a path of destruction through the assorted crap cluttering up my coffee table.
I’m gonna be finding nearly-dead (“maybe I can still get it to work!”) vapes rolling around the floor for weeks, I bet.
Man, here’s hopin’ for a better nights sleep.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Will there be the appearance of going well today?
Neat!
Sounds like there was Monkey business going on while you were working.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/59f with a predicted high of 19c/67f, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Fool me once, fucking shame on you. Food me twice, shame on me. Fucking fool me every fucking time, you’re probably a weather person!”
Is that some kind of badass pirate scale of weirdness?
Hurrah, definitely deserving of congratulatory flowers! And hurrah for Bailey feeling better
What a wonderful picture! They look so cosy together too, it looks like they are going to be great friends
Conga-rats! Yes, one day there should be a metalmouse award for services to refereeing and water leaks!
What fun! Good idea to make your safety rail higher up though, don’t want to be sued by people who expect to be saved from their own idiocy.
After Wednesday’s corporate bullshit day, I had hoped to get some stuff done yesterday but no chance of that. My team manager is an over-stimulated puppy most of the time and yesterday she couldn’t shut up about anything. Also, I wasn’t feeling great and my eyes were really sore so I was very glad to get home. I had a few chores to get done but managed to find a few minutes to sit in peace with a heat pack on my eyes which was very soothing. I heated up leftovers for dinner, and we found a couple of mint Magnum ice creams in the freezer so we had those as a treat.
TM is on leave today so peace reigns in the office, and there’s only two of us in today. I have things to get on with that require concentration so I am hopeful that it will be a very productive day. 'im indoors is off to Scotland today to visit his family so I am home alone and unsupervised until Monday afternoon. Chaos may or may not ensue!
Congratulations, oopsie!
JtC, I’m so glad that they’re getting along so well.
Don’t remember the details, but Coppertone was in my dream last night.
Annie isn’t feeling good today. We’ve had two repairmen in two days and I’m sure it stressed her out.
Hopefully nothing too exciting happening here today…
