You, your mom and sister used to not only share an email, you shared a house. When someone is trying to contact one of you for legal (or bill collection) purposes, they check out folks associated with that person.
So, city mouse / country mouse?
Or a wendigo.
Irked, came home, walked Nelson, et and briefly napped. Once KP is done, I’ll finish up packaging stuff up for a trip to the USPO.
The Nursemobile had a screw in a tire a couple of weeks ago. Wifey, RN took it to Discount Tire (where she bought the tires) and they said they couldn’t fix it because she’d driven on it when it was completely flat. She had to buy a new tire… for $18. I may go there next time I need tires, if their ‘free flat fixes’ include almost-free tire replacement.
Speaking of Jeeps, I should see if I can find a set of OEM alloy wheels for my Cherokee. Should’ve gotten them, but I went with steel wheels because I thought they’d get beaten up offroad.
Evening all. Swimming was accomplished this afternoon and somewhat to my surprise I did my 1.5 miles, albeit it took 3 sets to do it. Then had a cheeseburger for dinner and some sloth time tonight, but I do have to get the garbage can out this evening, so best do it now while I am thinking about it…
…and the garbage is out at the curb, now, where was I… Oh yes, given FCM woes, this is pretty minor, but I reached in a pocket of my gym bag for my car keys and forgot about the loose Mach 3 razor blade, so my left index finger got the Hydrogen PeroziXe and bandage treatment for the night.
I am trying to picture that and failing; probably just as well. Talk about crimes against humanity…
FCM, so FCD was dealing with a case of battery while you were screwing around…interesting life you lead…
JtC, yay! for the new dishwasher. And glad that the feline adjustment program is still proceeding well.
Nettie, ouch on the tire leak, but glad the cats are not (apparently) holding any grudges.
And it’s nearly 8pm so I need to do a few small things and then consider my time for readin’ and sleepin’. Take care all.
May I respectfully inquire as to why you were carrying a loose razor blade? Seems less than optimal safety, really.
The tire turned out to have a nail, which the nice people at America’s Tire fixed at no charge (they do that, probably as a loss leader to get people feeling good about them so they’ll come to mind when someone needs to buy tires (smile)). Buddy is lap velcro and Allie has been about as social as she normally is lately, so the treats on arrival home and serving supper seems to have pacified them.
Began staining the backyard fence today, but stopped because rain keeps threatening and we want it to have time to dry. Also, my ton o’ rocks arrived and is in the driveway. We went out to buy a new wheelie-cart for rock-hauling. Sadly, our terrific neighbor told us she’s moving back to Canada. Bummer.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/62f with a predicted high of 20c/69f, and cloudy. Weather app says “The fucking clouds won’t leave, just like the fucking weirdos in your family.” I’d agree with that, although I do like the cloudy weather.
I survived corporate bullshit day without snoring. I consider that a win!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 90 with light rain showers predicted for late afternoon. The big item on today’s agenda is mowage of the front yahd. It rained some yestiddy evenin’ so may be a while yet before that happens. Outside of that 'twill be the usual RDOS inactivities. Sup is last night’s leftovers so that’ll be easy.
JtC yay for new dishwasher! Glad GG cheese is up and runnin’.
Nettie glad Allie and Buddy ae doin’ better. Hope the tire fix is not to spendy. I see now the fix was easy.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Rain on and off today and tonight, then a stretch of sun. Theoretically.
I made the mistake of drinking hot tea with our early supper. I know better than to have caffeine past noon, so my own fault. Dammit. I didn’t fall asleep till after midnight, and of course, I was awake at 5 as usual.
As I was lying in bed awake last night, I heard my phone’s ignore ring - it’s the default for any caller not in my contact list. I checked it this morning - the area code was for New Brunswick, Canada, and the call was from the “Claims Department.” I get lots of calls from said department. Not sure what their scam is, but I’m more than happy to delete their messages. I’m also glad my default ring is a fairly quiet beeping tone. Had I been asleep, I wouldn’t have heard it. Another win for technology.
MIL will be going out to lunch with a couple of church friends, so FCD and I get a bit of a break - he and I will go out to lunch alone!! Bliss! And looking at my desk, I think it’s time to tidy and sort. And I’m sure other chores will suggest themselves.
For now, tho, a bit of surfing, then some reading till the household stirs.
We’re finishing up the job today, and I go home tomorrow. I’m ready!
The past few nights I started thinking I should get out and take advantage of being in New York since I’m leaving soon. Then last night I realized I’m pretty much over it. I think I’ve walked every street in a one-mile radius; there’s nothing new to discover. I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on any food options, and every one of the plethora of Irish Pubs in the neighborhood is pretty much like all the others. I’ve decided my final night here will be take-out to eat in the room.
I got to see two baseball games, one Major and one Minor, rode the subway and the Staten Island Ferry, walked through Central Park, Times Square, and Rockefeller Plaza, saw the Statue of Liberty and the U.N. Building, and got a 94th-story view of the city courtesy of building management where we were working.
Plus I made some money and got a successful job done. So no regrets, but it’s well past time to go home.
I’ve been keeping up with you all here. Hugs, smiles, and hang-in-theres to all as needed. I might have some time to chat tomorrow on travel day.
Yes, I know it took me a day to get back, but the poodle has been relocated to beside me instead of being on my lap. My punishment is that I have been dodging some fierce attempts at elbow licking.
I got some good news. The doctor agreed that I need an MRI for know leg. So, it will be done in August. I’m ready. I had to sit in my regular office chair for awhile yesterday while there was a repairman here and my knee is very swollen today.
It’s 59F and cloudy this morning. Cloudy skies will persist this morning and become partly cloudy this afternoon. The high will be 76F.
Even though the sun came out yesterday, a breeze blew, and I felt autumn in that breeze. It had a briskness that hadn’t been present for quite some time.
FCM, I’m sorry to read about the battery/dollar issue. There’s always something here, too.
I was slammed at work all day yesterday, but I completed and sent forward my fourth quarter spending plan as well as completed multiple other tasks, attended meetings, and just dealt with the everyday crap that pops up.
The PIO didn’t answer my email about setting up a time to meet for the SharePoint site, so I already know how this is going to go.
The good news is that today is my Friday, and I will ignore my laptop tomorrow except to certify my timecard. Unfortunately, I do have to log in to complete that because we can’t certify early.
The weekend will consist of errands and a pedicure. I’ll probably take care of the errands and pedicure tomorrow, so I can concentrate on getting stuff done in the yard and house for the rest of the weekend.
Morning all. Cooled down considerably, it’s only 74F and shouldn’t make it to 80 today, so the AC will get some time off. As mentioned above, I got the garbage out last night so of course they didn’t come early so it’s still waiting. Some gym work plus a soccer referee meeting tonight should take care of the out of door duties and there is a 40% chance or rain, so sun-spotting will be occasional at best.
Nettie, long story short, I still don’t trust having my water on 24/7 and the gym has excellent showers and I’m there 5-7 days a week, so why not shave there and use their water? Probably me being cheapo, but it’s become a habit now.
Taters, have a nice 3-day weekend, sounds like you’ve earned it.
Sticky Buns, hope the MRI explains the problem.
Wheelie, can understand why you want to get home, sounds like you had a good time but it’s time to head back. Could be worse, next time you could be in some podunk town where everything closes at 9pm and walking the streets is contraindicated. Safe travels.
FCM, haven’t had any ‘claims department’ calls, do get a lot of people wanting to by my property–of course, 90% have an address that is not mine–or an AI-sounding voice that asks “Hello, is (my name) there?” to which I say no and hang up.
And the big bowl of Cereal is in my digestive tract and all is right with the world. Have a good Thorsday all.
Thank you, but yikes! $215 each. It’s been a lot of years now (late-aughts), but I had to drive down to Everett to get a new windshield wiper arm when someone stole one from the Cherokee just before I was driving down to Oregon to visit my now-wife. They had stacks of wheels. I looked at a set of four alloys – with nice-looking tires – and they were $300 for the set. I should have bought them, but I was in a rush. I should have gone back, but it’s a long drive and I never got around to it. I should give them a call to see what they have. Or maybe take a long motorcycle ride on the weekend to have a look.
That’s why I have 3 ring tones. Unless I’m expecting a call from an unknown someone, I ignore the default ring. I figure if it’s important, there will be a voice mail. Generally, there isn’t one.
Waiting for MIL’s lunch date to show up - 2 ladies from her church. After she’s gone, I can maybe get something done. Or I’ll just enjoy the quiet. Decisions, decisions…
My gyno called this morning with results from my Leep.
The cells they removed were fine.
Which means the Leep wasn’t really necessary, but I had to have it to find out it was unnecessary.
Oh well, all activity there has ceased permanently so I will be fine from now on.
Am still waiting to see if she’ll give me estrogen cream as I worry the pills had shot my bp way up.
Off to groceries and library.
Was expecting a short shift last night but was asked to swap with one of the guys, and wound up staying to close. S.M. was fine with it, but warned me there was a good chance the other guy might flake about Sunday - he’s already given notice.
So I’m already kinda pooped & hafta close again tonight, too, AND tomorrow is Long Night.
I don’t know how imma make it, y’all.
Whoever posted about not looking at the clock in the middle of the night (FCM?) is 100% correct, and that is standard advice to people who complain about sleep issues.
Of course, what do I know? I came home too wiped out to eat (I’d nibbled at work) and consequently had a rough night of not-deep sleep.
Currently having my last Stouffers & hoping I can nap a couple more hours.
Speaking of running out, I just poured out the last of that cheapie corner store bag of kibble for Monkey. Where the hell is my Amazon order? I know I chose the cheapie free-shipping option, but c’mon!
Meanwhile, I do at least have litter & brought a new box home from work last night. Also need to refill aaaaallllllll the rattie water bottles before heading back out.
