Well, I’ve got at least 2 unexplained marks on the back of my left hand. Honest-to-goodness, I don’t recall whacking that hand.
I did, however, suppress a major “I-told-you-so.” I thought the guides for the water lines didn’t allow enough clearance. I was told and shown it was fine (for some values of fine.) But once they were painted, they were less fine. And when we were installing them, it took some WD40 to get them to slide thru. I didn’t say a word. I thought a lot, but kept silent. you can’t tell a former tool maker that not everything has to be within .001” for every application. < deep cleansing breath >
We went to Salsa’s for lunch and now I need to clean the critter fountain. I should also mow the back yard - it’s a bit shaggy. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe not. We shall see…
No, it was the residue of the ranch dressing, gorgonzola cheese, and bacon.
Mrs. L.A. started mowing the front yard, and then stopped early. The clutch cable on the mower that engages the blade broke. The ‘near’ place no longer works on Toro mowers, so ee loaded it up into the back of the Jeep, and I took it down to Bellingham. They charged me $50 for a ‘diagnostic’, even though the problem is obvious. It will take them a week to get to the diagnostic, at which time they’ll call me and tell me how much it will cost. Then I think it’ll take another week to get it fixed. I thought about pulling out the practically-new rotary mower that hasn’t been used in over 20 years, but it’s too hot. (It’s 77º Ferret Height, but it seems hotter.) Anyway, my right knee is killing me.
We were horrifyingly short handed today. I was supposed to be doing the 100 and 200 Slides, but mostly I was in Secondary Sort and on the 100 Table till 8. The I got to start on the Slides. Of course, just as they bring me 2 full totes of small to clerk, I get called to to to help the 300 Slide, since that was FUBAR(I mean, on a normal Saturday with 2 people there it’s FUBAR. Due to vacations, there was one person). I was there till 8:45, when someone thought, “Hey, maybe someone should clean up the other FUBAR slides?” so I was back to finish up. I got done with damages, retapes, and blurred labels at 12:30. I’m just now having my pre nap gin&tonic as the laundry is drying.
It’s in good hands.
“fucking close to water”
This is the same dog that turned a Mountain Dew can into confetti in under 2minutes. Without hurting herself. Beagles are like fuzzy garbage disposals.
Exercise is good for you. Even if it’s The Walk Of Shame.
“But it worked, didn’t it?” - FCD and Victor Frankenstein
Taters, the fastest way I know to find a lost tool is to buy a new one.
When I wrote the other day about missing my meds and getting leg cramps, I should have mentioned I have Parkinson’s Disease, which is why missing my meds = leg cramps. I’m kinda embarrassed about the whole thing. I seldom miss any meds. I have alarms on my phone and watch to remind me when it’s pillage time.
Once in a while, when I see the word “nappage,” which I know but my computer’s dictionary doesn’t, I think of Napa cabbage.
We finished the Root Beers jigsaw puzzle. I’ll tear it down and start another. It occurred to me 2 puzzles ago, I should set aside the corner pieces when tearing dowm a puzzle, to ease the sorting next time the puzzle is done, by us or someone else.
I’m not quite caught up, but This American Life has me noddinn off. Talk to you later.
This isn’t as bad as I had expected. All of our financial accounts are taking phone calls, but its allowing me to be more mindful as to what I want filling my inbox now.
Battlenet was going to be a challenge, but I don’t buy content through my email, I do everything through their website.
So, back to it, if I start replying to everyone I’ll not get through my assigned list in time to stitch before dinner.
I got a call to dog-sit in a few minutes until late tomorrow morning. You know, when I started this gig, I was really thinking I’d have a schedule, like “ MWF @ 8:00 a.m.: walk Bowser.” A lot of it has turned out to be last-minute stuff. Oh, well. Money is money, and dogs is dogs.
Thanks for clarifying the Olympia thing. I remembered “It’s the water” and the jokes about Artesians, but the joke whooshed right over my head.
I went to the supermarket and came back with ten large, cooked, peeled shrimps, and six oysters. I’ll shuck the oysters after I feed the cats at 16:00.
Howdy Y’all! Been a rainy and gloomy day. A good day for RDOS inactivities. We sat out on the back porch and day drank for a couple of hours this afternoon. Felt good to just sit and watch the rain. We also accomplished nappage and nuked sup. I feel like I could go to sleep right now but won’t. Instead I shall see whatup on teh intartoobz.
Oh, lord, that sounds like my former machinist dad.
Well, the tile floor has claimed its first victim. When putting my small crock pot away, it jumped to the floor and in a million pieces. A small shard bit me through my compression stocking on the inside of my ankle. It took 45 minutes to get me cleaned up, stocking rinsed out, the floor swept and mopped. Damn bloodthinners! Now slippers with soles are on the buy list. I don’t have the kitchen done as planned.
Sis called and invited me to a barbecue tomorrow evening. She said that she has a small crock pot that she’s been trying to get rid of. Since my steam mop bit the dust, she’s giving me one that she’s not using. I’ve started a list of small stuff to pick up whenever I pop into a dollar store.
Currently watching Camelot. It’s been awhile since I watched it and now I’d just rather have skipped it. Today has been a wide variety of activities. MusicMan and I went out to breakfast. Then we took some incorrect bulbs back to WalMart. Afterwards I came home and have been intermittently working on school stuff and goofing off with the poodle. Unfortunately my knees and ankles have been pissed off and pissing me off. I’ve basically taken to wearing my shoes with brace all the time except for when I’m in bed. I was even having to walk with a cane today when we were out.
The good news is that I think I’m almost caught up with stuff that I need to do for school.
GodWife had Hemingway daiquiris. This is before dinner (which she didn’t have), so she wanted to go out into the catio to talk about church stuff. She thinks that she’;s ‘grown’ as much as she can in our current church. I want to explore the Episcopalian church, but she thinks it’s too Catholic or something. She’s thinking of looking at a Lutheran church.
So, I’ve had a bottle of cheap plonk, and two large Evan Williams bourbons.
Eight o.clock, and I think I’ll go to bed in an hour.
Slacker. I’ve got at least 3 at home and 4 at work, one in the car, plus I don’t know where my 50’ and 100’ tape measures are.
Fixes are done to the back yard fence. The little doggo could still get out if she really wanted to, hell she could probably hop the fence, but I feel better with it this way. She still hasn’t figured out the doggie door. It makes noise, which is upsetting.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/65f with a predicted high of 24c/74f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Cloudy, with a fucking chance of bullshit.” That means there’s a hint of sun out there too!
We have a variety of fares on the bus A single journey of any distance is around £3, there are different bus operators who charge less but nobody charges more because there’s a national £3 per journey fare cap. I can buy a day ticket for £5 which gives me unlimited travel on any bus in my area, and that’s still cheaper than parking in town!
Yay for being all caught up, but boo to painful joints!
Yesterday was a busy one in the end - it included the gym, laundry, ironing, running the rollsuck and making dinner. ‘im indoors went to his gym and then into town for whatever he needed, and I decided not to bother with errands until next weekend. We had dinner and decided to go to our closest pub for a drink which turned out to be fun. The pub was hosting a quiz night so we took our drinks outside into their very large beer garden, one of our friends showed up later so we had a chat with him for a while. Home and in bed before midnight!
I was up just before 8am today because Cherry came to tell me it was time for breakfast. I ticked a couple of other jobs off my list by cleaning their food bowls and the feeding mat. I also hauled another bag of litter in from the porch as the downstairs one was almost empty.
We are off to sunny Cheshire this morning for a day of music and fun with friends at Rockwich which is only about an hour’s drive from here. We’re staying overnight so the catsitter’s booked for two visits to see the mogs while we’re away. I need to get my hair washed, get my stuff together, do a last check of food and litter trays, and get us some breakfast before we get on our way. Onwards!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 86 and cloudy in the mornin’ but sunny in the afternoon. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I shall serve as the only acolyte. All the kiddies are at the Diocesan acolyte festival which ends with a huge Eucharist at the host church. Thus we have me, the world’s oldest slackolyte, today. Afterwards there is a trainin’ for lectors that I am assistin’ with. Joy. Then it will be back to da cave for a sammich and nappage. Any need to feed today will be via forage.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization shall commence.
