(Old) Imagine a world with no MMP!

Mornin’ all - about 0645 as I start driveling. Went to bed early after a health night & slept in to 0530 for a full 8 hours. Go me! Been up caffinatin’ awhile now. At 77/25F, it’s not quite warm enough outside to balconate in the light breeze unless I bundle up in a track suit. Not gonna.

We had a monster rain day yesterday. Round noon it moved in from the Everglades and rained heavily all afternoon almost everywhere in the metroblob. Which had a lot to do with the cool overnight. NWS sez the high will be 95/35 with scattered rainshowers. So sorta back to seasonal normal.

Me e-bike’s battery pack is/was just about on its last legs. The replacement arrived yesterday from Da Jungle and is now all charged & ready to go. I’ll try to give it a run today & see how it holds up. Elsewise the day shall be RDOS.

Sorry that @Sticks_and_Scones is suffering extra special legly problems, not just the usual aggravations. Much the PITA.

Congrats to @missred for the kitchen progress, net of damned (and dammed) drawers. It’s been a few years, but I had a place like that once too.

Not much more to say from this end. Happy Sunday to all!!

Cheers!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Morning cleaning and afternoon sloth sha commence shortly.

I read that as Dionysian acolyte festival. Which would be something I’d be interested in.

GoRaleigh has a $5 daily cap if you buy a pass, but not for cash.

When we did our initial remodeling here, we encountered that sort of thing with electrical and plumbing installations. Similarly on the boat. Those seem to be the two “repairs” most likely to be patched together in the interest of, um, I dunno, expediency? Frugality? Ineptitude? Two areas that can cause very expensive future problems treated with bandaids…

For me it‘s the measuring tapes for sewing. I’ve got 2 now - no clue what happened to the third, but I seem to recall Roxanna playing with it when she was littler - she may have destroyed it. But, yeah, FCD has bunches of tape measures in various places, but never at hand when he needs one.

I envy you folks with access to public transportation. The nearest a bus comes to our little neighborhood is about 3 miles. But then I do live in the boonies. So I must drive. And that’s why I’ll be taking the Sonata to be looked at by my car guy. It’s recently developed this delightful little quirk whereby the cruise control kicks off, the ABS light comes on, and the a/c ceases to work. My extensive automotive knowledge tells me it’s a computer issue, which further tells me $$$$. I’ll see what Paul has to tell me. If it’s not a safety issue, I’ll just put up with it. If it’s not stoopit expensive, I’ll fix it. I hate to give up my car, but we do have another vehicle that I can use if necessary. We shall see.

Today’s agenda includes a trip back to the boat to do a little more with the plumbing aboard. I’m hoping it won’t take long - we’ll see. If I’m not too sapped upon return home, I’ll fire up ol’ John Deere and drive around the back yard. One weather guesser says 50% chance of t-boomers, another says 20%, a third says 15%. Place your bets!

And so it begins. Happy Sunday!

Good morning!

It’s 62°F, dark and clear outside. The sun will rise at 6:18 a.m. and it’ll be sunny and warm/hot all day, with an expected high of 93°F.

Sticky, I’m sorry your legs and ankles are troubling you. I hope you are pain-free soon.

I have three tape measures…

Although there is bus service out here, it takes hours to get anywhere. My daughter used to ride the bus (after a nearly a mile walk to the bus stop) to UWT, which is in Tacoma. She had to transfer once or twice, too. Basically, it was a two-hour trip one way, which is just stupid, especially considering it’s about a 30- to 40-minute drive (depending on traffic). Thank goodness she eventually got a car. I drove her when I could.

I toured the Olympia Brewery twice as a kid back in the early and mid-70s and had an Olympia Beer t-shirt. I still distinctly recall its pale yellow color.

Once again, obtaining the doggos’ special dog food turned out to be an exercise fraught with frustration. The vet only had one 7.7-pound bag, so I purchased it and went to the nearest PetSmart. They were entirely out. They checked the computer for the other PetSmart at the other end of the main drag, which supposedly had a few bags. They had TWO 7.7-pound bags. I bought them both.

Needless to say, this sort of wrecked my plans for going to the Farmer’s Market right after picking up the dog food. I wanted to get there at opening due to the heat and crowding. By the time I was done dinging around with all the dog food hunting, they’d been open for an hour.

Anyway, I dropped off the dog food, decided to treat myself to a pedicure, and then came home, picked up my husband, and we went to lunch. After lunch, we swung by Safeway and picked up the fixings for a good salad and some doggy ice cream for the pups.

For dinner, we ate a big bowl of green salad tossed with chopped egg (for protein), yellow bell peppers, sugar snap pea pods, multi-colored grape ‘maters, cucumber, and diced avocado. I used a mixture of romaine hearts and butter lettuce for the leafy greens. I love a good salad.

Once we got home from the grocery store, I puttered in the yard a little and then came back inside. I’m not sure what today’s plans are; probably laundry, dusting, and roll-sucking.

Alrighty, time for more coffee. Have a good day!

Morning all. Up, pilled and papered for a Sunday, now to bide my time until we get to Dinner Time and Olive Garden is on the list for this Sunday. After that I probably will need to work off some of that pasta but nothing much is planned at this time. 73F and cloudy heading to 89F and only a slight chance of rain today.

Would have sworn a did a late-night final, but I guess once I got back from my late afternoon refereeing and ate, it slipped past my mind (not hard to do these days), so will endeavor to catch up now.

lily, you have some interesting house guests.

FCM, glad minimal ouchies were incurred on the installation and peace reigned (even if you couldn’t say I-told-you-so). And like you, public transportation is far away and doesn’t go where I want it to. We do have some sort of transport for ‘old folks’ who can’t get around anymore, but I’m not in that company…yet.

flyboy, hope the mower is not to big a hit on the budget. And aching knees are part and parcel of getting older…believe me, I know.

doggio, sometimes I think we should change your Mumper name to Relief Pitcher, because it sure sounds like work is like that for you. And the food on top should have been creamed chipped beef on toast…)

nellie, happy dogsitting.

red, a little blood can be expected in moving, just consider it a sacrifice to the housing gods…

Sticky Buns, I don’t think I’ve ever made it through any of the Camelot/King Arthur movies, they just don;t interest me. Hope knees and ankles are doing better today.

Make sure she knows (I’m sure she does) that there are several sects of Lutherans, one moderately liberal, one conservative and one ‘you think the Baptists are fundamentalist, hold my Eucharist’.

VanGo, I trust your canine knows how good she has it and will stay put.

boo fae, enjoy the music.

swampy, happy Acolyting and training.

Pilot, Happy Riding (the bike that is…)

Taters, sounds like a pretty good day except for the Farmer’s Market miss. Anyway you can order that dog food from PetSmart on a regular basis so they have it for you?

And that is the end for now. Need my morning banana and hydration before exploring the wonders of the internet further, so have a good Sunday all.

Hm… Maybe it could be a cold soup?

Ha! The cats got their gooshy food. The elkhorn oysters were very salty. The Missus only ate one, so I had to eat five. Pouring off the salty liquor and putting on lemon juice made them better, but one was enough for her. I had a couple of shrimps. She didn’t.

It’s bad enough I destroyed them in high school. At least the three ibuprofen I took yesterday did their job.

She knows someone who attends, and she thinks it’s liberal enough for me. I liked Davey and Goliath when I was little.

You cut the stove off? :open_mouth:

I own 3 tape measures. The big one is in the toolbox, a small one in my purse (handy when thrifting) and a small one in the desk drawer. I have a couple of sewing tapes on hand and y’all really don’t want to know how many rulers are in the studio.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP before getting the day under way.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

There was another not-our-spoon on the kitchen floor this morning. It matches the one we found last year. It’s hard to blame the cats for this because they never leave the house and I know that spoon didn’t come from inside the house.

I own one tape measure and it starts at 2” because the end stretched out and I cut it off. Mostly I use rulers and count threads. There is a hundred foot tape measure in the tool box for measuring windows and such.

I used to have a cork backed metal yard stick with tenth-inch markings as well as mm. I used that thing all the time. Of all the things Hubs left behind, that’s the one that makes me grumpiest.

What do you usually get at Olive Garden? I used to like their soup and salad deal for lunch but we got out of the habit of going there years ago. Hubs is lo-carb and now that we are retired, we usually eat together.

That really bites. Are there any other options available? Maybe just supplements you can give them on top of regular food? 30 lbs of kibble would last about a month here and your dogs are slightly larger than our fuzzbutts.

Thanks for the posy info, I’m fairly sure that’s what I’ll be planting in the spring. I want to put some shade on the west side of the house, summers aren’t going to get any cooler during my lifetime.

She’s just a little dog in a big scary world, its going to take her some time to really understand that her new world comes with a best friend who won’t let the evil doggy door eat her.

Such a cutie!

Dang about the leg pain, but good that you are all caught up.

I’m still dealing with my email server going belly up. I have a LOT of class patterns saved in their respective folders on that server and I cannot figure out how to extract the patterns and save them elsewhere. I really don’t want to print them all out, that would take reams of paper and I’m probably not going to ever do them again. But they are patterns and I paid good money for them and don’t want to let them go!

Yesterday I bought a case of tomatoes at the produce sto yesterday so today they are turning into tomato sauce. I’ll mull the pattern problem over while I’m messing around with it.

Mowage has been accomplished - the front and side weren’t bad, but the back was excessively lush. I went round and round in order to blow the clippings off the lawn and into the woods or garden as happened. Then I came in and did a quick rollsuck thru the traffic areas - FCD shed a few aluminum chips after doing his best to blow them off in his shop.

He’s gone to the boat to do a few minor chores - no plumbing today. Maybe tomorrow? So I plan to crochet lap robe #3 and watch BritBox. I started a series called Outrageous, and it is. Mostly it will be a day of RDOS chillage.

No, but there was an, ah, extended saga with a now-gone behemoth of a fridge, and since the previous tenant had used the counters as a cutting board anyway ….

The counters are slightly shorter now. We’ll just say that.

Got my YouTube metal mix playing, because nothing says The Lord’s Day like rage cleaning to Motörhead. Spot is the other room watching the vermin.
I have 2 tape measure, a yardstick(3 foot length), and my short and long levels have markings.

When your only tool is a Sawz-All…

Did the pups at least say “thank you”?

Well, not all. My kids and I all play instruments to one degree or another, but this kid outshines us all.

All puzzles puzzed, although I need to go back to the NYT crossword, which is giving me some fits today.

Had a good visit with the wife’s niece and her husband. I made dinner, which was a hit, and we chatted quite a bit. The niece has volunteered to digitize and upload my family photos and the family genealogy books I created to Ancestry. She’s a ball of energy and is presently bored because she’s on limited duty after being injured by a patient at the local ER.

Decent cool weather forecast for the entire week, which is a relief.

I got up early to take Charlie for a walk while it’s still cool out there. I actually woke up at 4 to go wee, but I knocked something off the nightstand while I was getting up, which startled my curly friend into a barking fit. I never got back to sleep, so I lay there and thought about FCM and her inadvertently early wake times. We went to bed at 10. Last time he slept on the foot of the bed, but this time he lay partly on top of me, so it was like having a furry heating pad on my chest. I didn’t want to move him because I think he was feeling insecure without his person, so I didn’t get to sleep until 11:30.

We met a playful corgi on our walk. He and Charlie had a great time play-fighting, but the corgi was low enough that he could have nipped a very, uh, prominent part of Charlie’s underside, so I was a bit cautious.

His person went out for a night with the girls. Since she left at 3-ish and isn’t picking up C. until late morning, I’m assuming prolonged intoxication was the plan.

BooFae, the only band I recognized was Atlas. I used to be a cool kid, I swear. I did chuckle at the tee shirt that guy in Takeaway Thieves is wearing, but then I thought Victory or Die was Vasectomy or Die, so if you just point me toward the old folks home, I’ll shuffle off now.

What do kids do at an acolyte festival? My daughter was an acolyte–Catholic Church, though, so if they HAD a festival, it’d have a Guilt-a-Whirl and maybe a Mary-Go-Round. I guess I”m thinking of carnivals, though.

Pilot, how many inches of rain did you get? Just curious, as it sounds like a good drenching.

Sticky, ouch on the injury. I hope you heal soon.

Taters, how cool that you got to tour the brewery! Was it the old one by Tumwater Falls? Did the kids ask for free samples? My chief memory of Olympia beer is examining a can at a bar and laughing at the name of Tumwater. I never dreamed I’d live so close!

If the patterns are attachments to emails, then when you move the emails into Outlook that ought to bring the attachments along. Color me a bit confused about the issues you’re having.

Here’s a completely different approach assuming you’re on a PC. …

Windows has for many years now included a “Print to PDF” option. It’s just another “printer” on the list of printers installed on your PC. So if you have something you can display, but not otherwise save, just click your app’s Print feature, then select the “print to PDF” printer and it’ll convert the whatever into a PDF and offer you a “Save As…” dialog to put the pdf into whatever folder under whatever name you want. It’s also real fast, much faster than printing to paper.

I am not a big fan of tomato sauces, so I stick with the Fettuccini Alfredo with salad and breadsticks. It’s filling and the salad and breadsticks are always good, so I just take on the 2100 or so calories and try to get rid of them over the next week. They were fairly busy today (I try to get there when they open at 11am to beat the Church crowds) and have been there since forever.

Cookie. just got a start on the NY Times crossword, yeah, the ‘big’ clues are real posers this week. Did get the 5-digit Ken-Ken done and have a promising start to the 7-digit one. And all the best to niece, glad was wasn’t hurt too severely.

And now it’s time to don the shorts and T-shirt and do the sweating that I pay them $25 a month to let me do.

If you’re doing it online, then your xword is newer than the one I do, which is in our local paper.

Nope, always get the paper paper on Sundays. Tradition!!

Did your puzzle today have the word “eye” in several of the blocks? If so, then we’re on the same page.

:open_mouth: A 14.5# bag of kibble usually lasts Nelson about 2.5 months. GG and Jolene must have voracious appetites.

I unpacked 9 boxes today and took one box of packing material to the dumpster. Now, I’m getting ready to head out to Sis’ for BBQ.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday afternoon. I am very excited for the coming week - a cold front comes through tonight and it will be raining with highs around 70 for the next several days. I can’t wait to open the windows to air out the house and listen to the rain tomorrow! This type of weather is unheard of for Oklahoma in August - it’s usually 110F/43C with all of the vegetation burned to a crispy brown.

My eye has been bothering me for about a week. It’s been bloodshot and itchy, with a lot of crustiness in the mornings. It finally occurred to me that it might not just be allergies, so I did a Teledoc appointment and the doctor agreed it was time for antibiotic eye drops. I really hope that clears it up as it’s been rather annoying, and now that I’ve been thinking about it the dang thing is even itchier.

nellie welcome back! Sorry you didn’t sleep well, but yay for doggie cuddles?

red glad to see you’ve finally moved and are getting settled in. Small kitchens are such a pain though - it’s the one thing I hate about my current place.

JtC sounds like your haint has made a return… Maybe you need to paint your porch ceiling blue.

sticky I’m sorry you’re in pain, but it sounds like school is going well?
