(Old) It's A Brand New MMP

Crocheting has begun, been torn out, and restarted. The first pattern I chose wasn’t good for a lap robe. Here’s hoping pattern #2 will be better.

MIL went back to dress and fell asleep 2 hours ago. I just heard Alexa in her room so maybe she’s getting up?

Back to my yarn.

Here, too!

Coleus are so much fun. “Here, I made you some new plants, overnight, for fun while you were sleeping. Also, LOOKIT all the colors!!”

S.M. had some kind of brain fart the other night and told us all that this Sunday (today) was time change.

I … :face_with_raised_eyebrow: had some thinks, padded over to the wall paper calendar, double-checked because I don’t fully trust my own brain, and then had to gently set her right on that one.

For the record: Autumn equinox is not the same thing as the Daylight Savings switcheroo. They’re not even related.

(I mean, I dunno, maybe they show up at the same family reunion.)

1a.) If you’ve liked it for a while, and still want it, it’s a good buy.

2b.) Pics, so we can admire along with you?

But you thought it loudly, and that’s all that matters.

It’s all fun and games, until …

Aww, that’s one of my favorite scenes in “Young Sheldon” when the dad takes his young daughter out for her idea of a fancy dinner. Both dressed UP - she goes full on princess, including a tiara and wand.

There’s a thread in Cafe Society you may wanna stay out of for now.

Hoo boy, the “steak judgers” vs. the “how dare you judge” vs the “everyone can eat whatever they like, except the barbarians who eat XYZ, now there’s some nonsense” argument was on a roll as of last night.

Heh. On a roll.

Maybe with honey-cinnamon butter.

Like Bailey, Nelson has had a bath and a nail trim today. I farted around in the studio and finished up a set of primitive cards. Sunday dinner (some chicken vegetable soup) has been et and now, it’s just playing around until bed time.

Very nice!

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and then Acolyte trainin’ happened. We have (or will have) six new Acolytes. Two of the girls have not been baptized. This will happen on All Saints Sunday (November third for those playin’ along at home) and then they can start servin’. NP, the other Verger and I were really happy with the turnout. After that 'twas back to da cave to nuke leftovers, get ‘em et, and then nappage was achieved. Day drinkin’ has also been achieved. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Netflix, chill, and popcorn are up next.

MOOOOOOM sour cream, while nummy, is an abomination unto sweet N.O.T. Do not attempt this. I clutch my pearls in horror at the very thought!

Sticky_Buns glad you had a better night. Methinks you should have a long discussion with your doc about this med.

BooFae I must put Hundreds of Beavers on my watch list. It looks like a hoot!

Oopsie glad you had a good bday. Lego World is lookin’ good!

Supper was Ball Park bun-length weenies, slaw, crinkle fries, and assorted toppings. All cleaned up and I’m back in crochet mode. FCD is watching his Cowboys getting spanked. MIL is listening to her book. Higgs is hogging my footrest. Evening at FairyChatEstate.

Sounds like it was pet torture day for many mumpets. GG and Jolene got their claws trimmed because hubs woke up with blood on his pillow case. That means a cat stepped on him and nicked his paper skin with a sharpy.

It wasn’t horrible because I waited until they were sleeping and clipped all the feets that were hanging out of the pile and got the remaining feets when they rolled over. Jolene gave me a token growl but didn’t even try to bat at my hand before closing her eyes again.

I’m so glad that you set things right, I could certainly understand folks showing up early because they believed her and then getting upset.

So when is the stoopid time change? I guess I’m going to want to pay attention this year because of my class. We also don’t know what to do about the cats.

Hubs is going to want to keep getting up at 6 because “routines are very important when you are retired.” But the fuzzbutts are used to getting breakfast shortly while his coffee is brewing. If he starts feeding them early this year, next year they will expect him to be up at 0500 to feed them because they’ve gotten used to eating an hour earlier.

I never thought about using English Muffins, even better idea!

As it happened, Hubs found fresh jalapenos at the Amish stand so we had Chili Rellenos with refried beans. I also made some guac and queso and we had some sour cream so I didn’t bother with crema because I’m all lazy and shit.

THIS!!!

Tomorrow I have fasting bloodwork in the morning and then I’ll have to rush home and get something to eat before going to the gym. I know I don’t really have to wait an hour after eating before swimming, but that’s how I was raised so of course I’m going to listen to Mom, LOL!

The hummingbirds haven’t found the petunias but the butterflies sure have. Now I’m worrying about attracting butterflies that close to the highway. I might have too much time on my hands…

3 November.

Allie and Buddy had it easy today compared to other mumpets (this is now an official word, I decree). Biggest problem for them is actually getting their canned goo after 5pm, when it tends to be earlier. It’ll be even later tomorrow, since DH and I probably won’t even be home from the planned roaming (Tioga Pass) until after 7pm.

Thank you. I wrote it on my calendar. In red ink. I’m so happy we are RDOS and don’t have to really worry about it that much.

Mumpets it is

I certainly hope you don’t come home to starved to death cats, two hours is a LONG time to wait for their gooshy fud!

Enjoy the adventure.

They were semi-patient today, we shall see about tomorrow. I’ll probably put down an extra kibble dish for tomorrow, as fast as they can empty the current one. Gotta make sure bathroom sink faucets are left in trickle mode for them, too.

I cleaned. I laundered. The Packers and Panthers played well and won. Spot spent the day napping on the couch. Having the usual post game Wisconsin Old Fashioned.

I drank that as a child!

Wait, sheep, or one of my friends?

I say do what you enjoy. Unless you use Miracle Whip instead of Duke’s in your deviled aigs. Then your heart’s gonna get blessed.

Nifty! Although when I saw “primitive” I was thinking maybe a condolence card to Thag Simmons’ widow.

And don’t forget the clean underwear!

Going to call and go in to my Eye place tomorrow.
The break in my glasses is on the lens part of the frame. It always felt like it was shifting, probably wasn’t installed right.
Only wore them a few months.
Thank God for my older ones, they aren’t as good by a little so it feels odd, the right side, with the cataract is blurrier.
But I can see and read.
See you all in the soon to be cleverly named new MMP.

Evening all. Calories have been pedaled away, according to the machines I have pedaled nearly 6,000 calories this week, so will be interested in seeing if my weight has been affected come the Moanday weigh-in. Talked to Brother, he’s doing well but my elder nephew will be visiting the Cleveland Clinic in October for reasons (getting info out of Brother can be a chore). Need to get a couple e-mails out to my soccer parents that they can read tomorrow. Once that is done some tackleball watching and puzzle-solving will keep me occupied until sleep-time.

JtC, never have had fried braunschweigher, just sammiches on bread or buns, often with soup. Will be interested in your results.

shoe, yeah, in a lot of suburban middle-class homes Red Lobster is still a fine-dining experience. Any they ain’t dead yet, just downsizing and apparently have had some poor management decisions in the past. And will take your advice and stay far away from the steak thread…now if they want to argue that some other ice cream than Butter Pecan is the best, then I’m rolling up my sleeves and wading in…

:Blinks eyes: “Amish’” and "jalapenos’ are two words not often found together, but perhaps I haven’t experienced that side of Amish life…

And that’s all for this week from Casa Rat. Take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

You are obviously unacquainted with Baskin-Robbins World Class Chocolate.

Butter pecan is old persons ice cream. Wait, I’m 67. I’m old! But I never had butter pecan ice cream.

@Seanette and I don’t usually do drugs, but we plan on getting seriously high tomorrow.  First destination is Tioga Pass, elevation 9,945 feet above sea level. That tops a few weeks ago, when we went to Sonora Pass, at about 9,600 feet.

From Tioga Pass, we plan to go on to Mosquito Flat, at about 10,200 feet.  That appears to be the highest drivable point that we have been able to learn of, within a reasonable day trip from Sacramento.

Sadly, we won’t have time to see much of the rather spectacular sights that are supposedly very clear to our planned route.  We’re trying to hit both of those destinations, and get back home, in a day.  Perhaps at some future time, we may have to work out taking a multi-day trip, where we can go into that area, and take in things like Mono Lake, and the columns of Crowley Lake.

That way lies madness.

Seriously, they’ll start yowling for “breakfast” at 1 a.m. if he goes down that road.

(Hell, they probably do anyways but he can’t hear 'em and you’re asleep.)

You’re feeding migrating pollinators. This is a good thing to do. Go find something else to worry about.

My name is Shoe and I approve this message.

Your phone should update automatically.

What if I … :musical_note: briiiiiing out the Hellmann’s … :notes:

… would I not be bringing out the best, as I was led to believe?

You should totally start a thread for this.

Oh, c’mon, it’d be fun!

{ puts up dukes, gets ready to throw down out in the parking lot }

I’m team Haagen Dazs coffee, all the way.

Not a bad shift, for a football handegg Sunday. Helped that a few hours in, S.M. sent me to the liquor sto’ corner sto’ for smokes, and was like, “Get yourself something to drink, too.”

Yes, ma’am.

I got a coffee; don’t go clutchin’ pearls.

But it was a nice 2nd break. Sit down a minute in my car, have a quick smoke on the ultra brief drive. Plus, yanno, free coffee.

Alright, Monkey is all UP in my kool-aid for attention, plus I gotta roll my own trash bin out, and speaking of Monks it would probably be a smart idea to scoop his :poop: box before rolling away the trash can, so … { sigh } having de-pants’ed myself upon arrival at La Casa De La Shoe, as is the local custom, I shall hafta … do the things, and then will probably roll the damn thing out in my bathrobe cuz, yanno what, I really do not feel like putting pants back on.

Brought home another cheese pizza (a large this time!) for some spoiled fucking ratties, since we were dead-ass slow towards the end of the night and had it sitting around.

We were so slow, that { shhh! } not one but two customers got upgraded from their paid-for-medium to a large, cuz we had them friggin’ sitting around anyways.

The 1st guy like a dumbass who looks a gift horse in the mouth asked, “Whyyyyy?” and I gave him my standard noncommittal sweet bullshit answer (“Oh, it’s your lucky night!”) and then a few minutes later had a :face_with_raised_eyebrow: moment, and told S.M. I’m gonna start telling people it’s because they were so polite on the phone.

Might as well reward good behavior, and do a solid for the next several CSRs in their life.

But they gotta actually have said “please” and “thank you” for this to work. Which, to be fair, most people do.

ETA: sometimes it’s because we just have that many large crusts left and ran out of the smaller ones; sometimes it’s because someone was tired/screwed up, and didn’t feel like re-doing a pizza five minutes till close; very very occasionally it’s a deliberate, “ah, it’s So-and-so Regular, let’s just give it to them.”

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Thus begins another week(and ends an MMP)

Fake News from Big MayoTM

I  you

in the voice of Nelson from the Simpsons “HaHa” although the worst team in the NFL spanked my team…

BOO! the raiders shoulda been better than them…well I guess they had to get one of their 4 wins from somewhere

LOve ya all

My post about the above-described trip.

Though not a trip about “getting high”, a trip we more recently took primarily to see Bodie involved a side trip to Masonic Mountain, with an elevation of about 9,225 feet.
