As someone who thoroughly enjoys chicken-based soups, I want to try this “god” version.
Probably pretty damn good.

Packed up a couple gallons of water and enough rations for two days and headed out to Walgreens to get my filled prescription. To my shock, there was no line! As in zero people. I was stunned.
I’m convinced that MSP has some of the worst drivers of any city in the USA. Stop signs are a suggestion, pedestrians have no rights, and one can count on drivers to do the dumbest thing possible in most any situation.
Started emptying the dishwasher awhile ago, then realized that while the wife had put the soap pod in the machine, she never turned it on. Oopsie.
Had a hotdog for dinner. That’s it. No bun, just a bit of mustard. I think I’m reverting to my teen years. I’ll be glad to see colder weather roll in, as it inspires me to make soups and stews.
I might try that. I’m working where there’s no a/c and I’m on the second floor.
Just don’t forget to remove it from the box!
Obviously it was the butler.
All of y’all talking about that religious soup reminds me of my day. I work for a church based school now. There are some really, um, interesting paperwork styles there and at one point I actually said, loudly, “JESUS CHRIST!” Lucky for me, I was the only one in the classroom at the time. My language is pretty clean, but I need a few little tweaks here and there.
Now I’m home and Annie is weighing me down so I can’t get up and be productive. I did try to make some rice pudding with almost expired milk, but I managed to burn the milk and sugar mix by not stirring constantly (like it told me to).
Bedtime may not be far off.
I hafta wear kerchiefs/scarves at work - lest I wear the dreaded hair net - and S.M. told me a secret:
Get a kerchief wet, put it in the freezer, and then tie it on your head.
My GAWD it’s good in the heat.
If you have a freezer at work, put a couple of wet handkerchiefs in a bag (so nobody has to go, "WTF?) and then later, when you absolutely cannot stand it, crack one of them onto your head and tie it on.
Despite being a restaurant kitchen, the @$%&! language is mostly frowned upon where I am now.
So I’ve learned:
“SHITtakke mushrooms.”
“GOD … uh, bless America?”
… and coming from the South, I taught my Midwestern coworkers the joy of:
“OH SSSHHH… ugar.”
Up from naptime. Having a martini, tortellini, and a salad for dinner.
It does help. although the Saturday Six Forks routes after 5pm are merely a wish.
You’re clucked in the head if you deny the divinity of the Holy Chicken.
Thermal curtains in the unused rooms could help with that…
I’ve only been going for a couple of weeks and I’m already grumpy that other people were using the facility. The parking was even more crowded when I went back this afternoon, and I noped out again. I hope the resurfacing goes well and you are back in the swim soon.
I would have thought that god soup would have been more of a wine based fish boil served in a bread bowl.
Oh, I had to grab the low hanging fruit before you got to it
So besides not swimming, we were total RDOS. Hubs isn’t feeling the best (he needs to get his back adjusted) and didn’t want dinner. Jolene is still sleeping more than is normal for a cat so GG is bored and yelling at the deer when they are on our side of the gully.
The fire is still smouldering but is past anything that could impact my life so I’m going to just ignore it like everyone else.
I filled up the gas can on my second way to the gym so Hubs didn’t have to worry about it but I left the big bin out for him to bring in, I can’t let him get too spoiled!
I had forgotten about how fast it gets dark here. AZ had long twilights because there were no trees or mountains or mists. I’m going to have to remember to make allowances for that because I’m used to going to bed when it gets dark…which is much earlier here.
ARRRRRRR!
I be up, grogged, and sheveled. Off to heave booty. It be International Talk Like A Pirate Day, mateys!
Avast, shipmates! It’s currently 12c/53f with a predicted high of 20c/67f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Today’s weather is fucking fine. Tomorrow? It will probably be fucking trash.” Who knows? It’s nice enough out there, cool and cloudy, just the way I like it.
While I can guess from context the meaning, this is a brand new one to me.
Having a hissy fit
Monday is bin day, but one house on my way to work still had it out this morning, in defiance of social norms and HOA President wannabes.
Surely having your bin out past collection day is a hanging offence where there’s an HOA?
I’m congested and my ears are full.
Hope you feel better soonest!
Now I’m home and Annie is weighing me down so I can’t get up and be productive.
She missed you, and she knows snuggles are the best way to wind down from the day
Busy day today, got lots to do and things to catch up on from yesterday because I spent so much time doing training things for other people. I finally have a document I’ve been waiting for, so now I can update the online student hubs with some extra stuff. Other than that, I have a minion meeting this morning and the ADHD Squirrel is probably coming in so that will be an added disruption to the day.
My turn to cook dinner tonight, I have mince but no idea what to do with it yet. I’ve got all day to decide on that one! Shiver me timbers!
Good Morrow me mateys! Arisen and havin’ me grog! YAWN ‘Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 87 and mostly N.O.S. This mornin’ I shall assist with mowage over to the church house. Haven’t done that much this year and with a few of the folk who usually do this out of town, I said I’d show up. I can sit on a zero turn mower with the best of ‘em. I’ll be there around nine and that should take care of the mornin’. The afternoon, needless to say, will include high RDOS inactivities. OYKW mentioned burgers and fries from Cook Out for sup. He’ll make the run, so it’s all good with me.
ARRR! Now I be needin’ more grog and me tummy be wantin’ grub. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Be havin’ a merry Thursday ye scurvy dogs!
Up early after a good sleep. FCD will be seeing his neurosurgeon in Baltimore, so I need to rouse him soon for the long drive. Then I need to get MIL moving so we can head to Calvert Hospital for her retina dr appointment. I found a place near there to have lunch if things run long, since it’s a 45 minute drive from here. So we shall see. (Hah - retina doc… see… )
Theoretically, this batch of rain is done, which bodes well for the fair on Saturday. That’s as much as I’ve planned ahead. Tomorrow, of course, is laundry day.
For now, tho, I guess I’ll hit the shower, then wake FCD, then wake his mom.
Happy Thursday!
OK, up, dressed, critters have been tended, and I’ve fed my face. FCD is awake and I have a few minutes before I have to roust MIL. And I have a question for fellow members of the RDOS Society (Is that redundant, like ATM Machine or PIN Number??)
Anyway, fellow geezers, have you found you’re becoming clumsier in your dotage? Last night when taking a pill caddy out of the medicine cabinet, I knocked the pack of dental floss into the sink. This morning when reaching for my facial moisturizer, I managed to knock over a deodorant and sent my toothpaste plummeting. When emptying the dishwasher, I have to be especially mindful of what I’m putting away, especially knives and glasses. And we won’t even talk about tripping over things that aren’t there…
I’m thinking I need to talk to my doc about this at my next once-over. These clumsies are a bit concerning.
And now I need to make sure the rest of the household is up and about. We’ve got schedules, people!!!
It’s Talk like a pirate day? Guess I’m on the wrong side, because I’ll be walking the plank after breakfast.
In other words, we’re docked at Portland, Maine and we’re going into town.
Need masking tape to block the motion sensor which lights up the bedroom when one of hits the head during the night.
After he left Mom collected the kid and took off, so don’t know anything more about the story. We’ll see if he’s at practice Friday or the game Saturday. Too much drama for this age group.
Those kids are lucky to have you. Hope he’s able to continue soccer and have some place to be a kid.
FCM
I’ve been reading along here but haven’t time to type anything. I’m still working and work has been particularly difficult. I’m trying to get ready and packed to leave for Ireland on Monday morning but everything that can happen to take up one’s time and energy has occurred lol.
I think most everything has calmed down at the moment so I am popping in here for a quick note.
Re: clumsy in one’s dotage? I have been the Queen of Clumsy all my life. I was hit by a car 4 times as a kid for starters. Have had numerous trip to the ER addressing my brushes with clumsiness.
It has deteriorated a bit since getting older so I don’t wear any kind of crazy shoes or take any unnecessary risks with activity.
I have been the Queen of Clumsy all my life.
I’ve never been the most graceful - I blame my mom for not letting me take ballet lessons as a kid… I just seems lately, it’s getting worse. In fact, that’s what led to the accident that tore my left shin open - I didn’t lift my foot quite high enough. I dunno…
Man, FCD was out of it last night. Turns out he doesn’t have an appointment in Baltimore, and MIL’s appointment is in Waldorf, not Prince Frederick - well maybe. He’ll call at 8 to find out for sure.
Meanwhile, she’s making me crazy again, insisting she’ll eat anything, even when she won’t. She’s tired of rye toast for breakfast, which is fine. She got tired of raisin toast too. She doesn’t want white bread, but she wants something different. OK, fine.
I suggested mini bagels or toaster waffles. FCD suggested toaster strudel, but last time I bought that, it just sat in the freezer forever - I don’t have that big a freezer! Cereal? Nope. Anyway, I’ll get a bag of bagels and a pack of waffles, and I’ll try to be all zen about it, but she still makes me crazy sometimes.
In other words, we’re docked at Portland, Maine and we’re going into town.
I know one of our cruises docked there, and while I don’t recall specifics, I do know I liked all the places we stopped on that cruise. Hope the weather is nice.
OK, time to figure out what’s going on today after all.
Morning all. Up fairly early (for me) at 6:10am so we’ll see if I head off to bed early tonight. Credit card bills have been paid so that has been my adult act of responsibility for the day. Gym and soccer will take care of my physical well-being and the weather is supposed to be clear and near 90F, but right now it’s 62F so the AC has the morning off.
FCM, haven’t noticed any extra clumsiness yet beyond my own natural abilities, I do find that I’m walking into a room to do something and then forgotten what for more often than before, usually as soon as I return to where I started from I remember what I needed to do, so it’s not all that bad yet. Happy Medical Day for FCD and MIL,.
Cookie, guess I’m a tradionalist, eating a hot dog without a bun just seems…wrong..to me.
Dicey, enjoy your New England cruise.
Sticky Buns, just stick an ‘Amen’ at the end of Jesus Christ and you’re good…
JtC, my gym place has a pretty large parking lot, I usually go between 1-3pm and it’s not that busy, but come 5pm and it’s mobbed. Keep exploring times and see if you can fid one that works for you.
doggio, I’ve tried talking like a pirate but I must need fear that I don’t have the imagination for it. So I’ll just man the guns on the fo’c’sle and give them a shot across the bow so you can do the boarding and the looting…
boo fae, thanks for the definition, hope the day went well.
swampy, so you mowed your yard and the churchs’ all in the same week; your sloth credentials are indire need of renewal…
I was hit by a car 4 times as a kid for starters.
So glad you are still with us! Been close to being hit a few times, but so far I’ve been lucky.
OK, time to break fast and move along with the day. Take care all.
Anyway, fellow geezers, have you found you’re becoming clumsier in your dotage?
Absolutely! I drop things and knock things over all the time. My balance is also shot. Stairs are sometimes a challenge. My wife has firmly stated that ladders are strictly off limits.
In the Retina Center waiting room - this is going to take a while. Oh well…
fcm, take note of it and mention to your neuro the next appt. aging is like reducing a yummy sauce, things get more intense. sometimes it is nothing, sometimes it is something.
regarding your soup, it reminded me of the “family dinner” in lucifer.
40 second mark for the secret ingredient.

4 minute mark, the revelation of why everything tastes like chicken.

Been here almost 90 minutes, mostly waiting apart from a brief preliminary exam. No clue how much longer, but I’s hongree!! At least MIL is snoozing so I don’t have to keep a conversation going.
Surely having your bin out past collection day is a hanging offence where there’s an HOA?
Do you guys have anything similar to a HOA? Just curious.
