(Old) It's A Brand New MMP

I did it again - I had to comment about 2 good sleeps. Last night I might have gotten 2 hours. Dammit. Before I finally fell asleep, the sky opened, then shortly after waking, I heard a branch crack and fall. It didn’t sound like it hit anything, and it might have been in the neighbor’s yard. Maybe I’ll see after sunrise.

I wanna sleep more, but I’m awake.

Dammit.

Happy Wednesday. I guess.

We got our covid and flu vaccines yesterday afternoon. Four hours later the bad reaction hit me. I was freezing. It is a good thing that we have a quilt or two around here…

I went to be at 8.00pm I got up at regular time this morning. I am not freezing any more but I feel like I have been beaten all over. I have my radiation appointment this morning and a meeting with my radiation oncologist and I may just come home and go back to bed.

Dang! Hope it all passes quickly! My arm feels like it got a good punch, but I don’t think I had any other reactions. I woke up coughing - it may or may not be related. I have a bit of a chill now, but I am drinking an iced diet coke - perhaps that’s a reason??

It’s a bit lighter outside and I don’t see any big branches in the non-wooded part of our yard. Then again, whatever it was may have fallen in Ben’s yard - it’s difficult to judge where a sound comes from in the dark. Both bedroom windows were open - one facing north and one facing east - perhaps adding further confusion as to the source. Frankly, since it didn’t sound like it crashed thru the roof of the shop or the sheds, I’m not too concerned - just curious.

MIL’s shower aide is coming today. Thankfully, MIL and BIL decided not to go to WalMart today (I was the designated driver) because of the rain. It’s forecast to continue on and off all day, with chance of t-boomers later - a good day to stay inside and veg, methinks. Also a good day for N.O.T. soup - I think I know what supper will be.

The only thing I need to do today is tape one of the pages in the used book I bought - it’s almost torn out. At least it’s still there. Once on a cruise, my mom pulled a book from the ship’s informal library (people leave and take books as they wish) and the last few pages were completely missing! She never did find out whodunnit! I have to wonder if it was a cruel joke.

Almost time to wake FCD - he’s finally (I hope) going to go over the inspection with the electrician. It’s a very busy boatyard and I imagine since we’re not in a hurry, they push the rush jobs ahead of us. It’s a bit of a pain, but really not that big a deal. Plus I suspect they’ve given us a few free labor hours because we’re not bitching at them.

I wanna go back to sleep. After my sweetie showers, it’ll be my turn, then I may collapse in my recliner if MIL doesn’t get up right away. I do rather feel like crap on a cracker…

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/62f with a predicted high of 18c/65f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “This is the perfect fucking day to stay inside, eat pizza, and wish the weather was fucking warmer.” No, it’s fine for me, I like it cool!

I hope not, I rely on them for entertainment!

They are the source of my good habits, 'im indoors is learning the hard way that stuff left on the floor is liable to be part of the next pissing party.

That’s a horrible thing to do in front of their kid, even if it’s at a distance and in hearing. I hope the kid’s not too traumatised by it and has a happier time at soccer practice.

We had a notification that the university is scheduling on-site flu vaccinations this year so I’ve booked mine for mid-October. No chance of a covid booster this year though, I am not old enough for that and not in one of the more vulnerable groups so I doubt I’ll get one. As far as I know, we can’t even pay privately for one because they’re ridiculously expensive.

I hope all you sickies are feeling better today!

The Travel Gods were having a right paddy this morning, there was a bus when there shouldn’t have been one, and then not a bus when there should have, the trains were all messed up so I caught a later one I don’t normally get on but it had 9 carriages instead of 11…and I got here later than I wanted to. Let’s hope they behave better when I go home.

My pub friends are away this week so I won’t be seeing them tonight. Instead, I might go to the pub with 'im indoors and have curry, or we might get a different takeaway for dinner. Nothing else in my plan for today.

I’ve been doing odd jobs at work today, I’m handing over some stuff to my new minion so I am spending time showing her various different things and getting her to suggest solutions for things. Then this afternoon, I have someone from another School coming over for some systems training that I agreed to do, plus this morning I went to a Deep Dive session on Power Automate so it’s been busy but not very productive.

Taz would do that to my knitting if I didn’t put it away. Once he got into the bag of yard and peed on several skeins. Wretched odor!!

FCD says we have a leak over a locker in the V-berth. Always something. I hope it’s easy to trace - if the water follows structure, it might travel a way before dripping out. Dammit.

On the plus side, he’s got an appointment with his neurologist in Baltimore tomorrow. I’m glad. His back has been giving him grief and he refused my suggestions to see a doc here. Anyway, that means I need to take MIL to her retina appointment tomorrow. No biggie - I had no plans.

OK, back to my book…

Morning all. Dry all day and heading to 88F, so just another summer day in North Ali-bama. This is my no-soccer day, so might actually get around to tidying up the house some, the kitchen needs some spit and polish. The gym and sloth will be featured for the remainder of the day.

Sari, hope Sah-son is feeling better soon.

Nettie, I winced just reading that-ripping up a nail can be agony for me; hope you are doing OK.

Wheelie, efficient and timely medical care…what a concept! Followed by medical FUBAR…what a reality. Glad they were able to re-schedule for you.

Shoe, swampy, boofae, have no idea if it was a husband, boyfriend, fiancee, or live-with, the kid has been ok before, a bit overly chatty but works hard and seems to have fun, I just hope he can continue to come so he can have some time just playing.

swampy. well, you know, mowage is sometimes best done on Thorsday (I heard that somewhere…) :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hippie, hope you get feeling better soon. My arms have stopped aching, for some reason I never seem to have much reaction, no matter what shots I get.

FCM, I remember getting a book at a SCi-Fi convention once, a collection of stories and got it autographed by severla of the authors in attendance, then when I went ot read it once I was home, found about 20+ pages missing! And glad FCD is getting checked out.

boo fae, sometimes the Travel God in charge of your region is named Murphy…

And that’s all from the morning report. Have a good Hump Day all.

Poor lil guy. I hope this was just a one time thing.

Good save!

I seem to remember getting my motorcycle inspected for a sticker, but I’m not sure if it was state registration or my base sticker. Other than that, this was my first time cause Yavapai county didn’t do them. I guess if I was wondering if I had a brake problem, the inspection would have been helpful but I dunno.

Didn’t there use to be a longer one? Full page that could be tri-folded? I’ve been looking for that version to leave in restrooms in place of the fake hundred dollar bills but have been unsuccessful so far.

Owie!!! The worse part is that you are going to be knocking it against everything.

Here’s hoping the streak remains unbroken!

I hope you feel better after more sleep.

It is really strange for American health care to pay for anything the rest of the civilized world doesn’t.

NOOOOOO!!!

So not much is happening here. When I got to the gym this morning they were having some sort of big event with people and cars all over the place. The parking lot was full and people were parking on the grass and on the side of the road. I noped right out of that and came home. I was kinda looking forward to splashing around so I’ll probably go back around two.

I really do wish I could convince hubs to come with me, but he hasn’t seemed very receptive so far.

GG and Jolene have been chasing each other around today, but Jolene is in complete control. Her stitch knots are starting to disappear. I’m not sure if she’s biting them off or the are just dissolving but the wound is healing cleanly and well.

While I can guess from context the meaning, this is a brand new one to me.

Oh, snap, I totally missed that!

Last night’s funny was courtesy of a very sweet woman who, while picking up her pizza, asked how late we stay open. I told her midnight - and 1 am Fri and Sat - and she looked relieved and said, “Oh, good, I thought I was keeping you guys late, I felt so bad calling so late!”

For a split second, I got all excited thinking we were nearing closing time, until I saw that it wasn’t even eight o’clock yet.

We have people outraged that they can’t order at 11:59, and I still occasionally get crap about us not being open until THREE IN THE FRIGGIN’ MORNING anymore (that went out the window years ago) and this sweet summer child, bless her heart, thought 8 o’clock was “late.”

The rain stopped, but there was DENSE FOG. I was bouncing between the 100 Table and Slide today, neither was busy, possibly because the 100 Sort Aisle was having a terrible, no good kind of day.

Spot:
< hops onto bathroom counter, looks at self in mirror > "Why I am a handsome god!:
< gets closer, looks at self sideways > “Wait..is that?”
< spins around and looks at me > "“Why didn’t you tell me I had a crooked whisker! You are the very worst butler in existence!”

And for bin reports: Monday is bin day, but one house on my way to work still had it out this morning, in defiance of social norms and HOA President wannabes.

That’s the only one I know of.

I’d say that’s a good plan.

As long as it’s not store bought deviled aigs, you’re good.

Aw, sweet! I’m only the second-laziest slacker in existence! (Brought mine in late last night, thankyouverymuch.)

… I’d so try them.

Mine are better, but that requires, yanno, getting up.

Good morning, all! It’s 70°F and rainy/cloudy, with a forecasted high of just 73, so kind of a “meh” day. I’m alright with that, though…as long as the rain pauses whenever I need to be outside.

The cleaning ladies are here right now, so Bailey and I are shut up in the home office for the duration. When they’re done, I’ll migrate to the living room for lunch and a couple hours of slothing in front of the TV. I had to reschedule both of my usual personal training sessions this week, and the first rescheduled session will be at 3pm – after which I’ll come straight home, take a quick shower, and head out to meet friends for dinner/live jazz. Both the gym and the restaurant are close to home: my friends will be getting to the latter at 5pm, and I should be able to join them not much later. But I might ask my trainer if we can end today’s session ~5 min early.

Yesterday evening’s big work town hall wound up being a waste of time content-wise, but it was good networking-wise. I got to see some folks in person I hadn’t seen in a while, meet some others in person for the first time, and remind our president of my name, so all in all I’m glad I went. I’ve been with my company for 6 years now, which is a personal record, and for the first time I’m thinking that I might actively try to stay for as long as possible. I’m not sure I ever want to be a portfolio manager or anything higher in the corporate structure (or any corporate structure), but I’m definitely on at least a deputy/program manager track and recently I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’ll want to do if my current program doesn’t get renewed in the spring (the next 7 months are gonna go by fast!). I think networking will be key to my chances of staying with the company in the kind of role I’ll be looking for: there’s a good chance I’ll need for someone to hear that I’m looking for another position and think “oh, we could use someone like her/who does that!” and open a job requisition, vs relying solely on applying to openings that already exist.

The next rescheduled personal training session will be tomorrow at 10am. I have no other plans tomorrow…maybe in the afternoon I’ll finally go to the Lego buy/sell/trade store I’ve been talking about. Or not.

The cleaning ladies just left! Hooray for lunchtime!

Indeed. Meh.

LOL!

Took Ursala Kitteh to the vee ee tee for her arthritis shot and nail trim. I had a completed courtesy card for a free nail trim (10 trims, get the 11th free. Much better than 4 anal gland expressions, get the 5th free). The garbage has been picked up but I donwanna retrieve the can. I’m congested and my ears are full. Sadly I cannot take an OTC decongestant due to SVT. So I am watching TCM and slothing the rest of the day.

MIL thinks I need a big wicker basket to put all my afghans in, because draping them over the back of the couch isn’t “pretty” enough. Sure, because the floor in here isn’t cluttered enough with extra furniture, a walker, a wheelchair, the oxygen bottle… If she didn’t live with us, most of those afghans would be in the closet in her room. She’s the one who was wrapped up all summer.

We need to leave around 8:30 for her appointment with the retina specialist in the next county to the east. I hope we can get a handicap parking spot near the entrance - it’s a busy hospital and spots fill early. I thought about taking her to lunch after but I expect by that time, I’ll need to get some me time.

Rain continues and more to come. I decided supper will be chickie-rice-veggie soup. It’s about all I can manage. I’s tahred!

I’ll bet you could find one at CostCo!

You did the kid a big favor. It’s too bad he has an assumed parent who is an @$$hole.

Ouch! I hope that your owie is better soonest.

:people_hugging:

I plan retiring to an urban area, so when the time comes to give up driving, I’ll have options.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. Now to play in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

How about a couple of these?

Howdy Y’all! I am pleased to report mowage did indeed get done. OYKW went and procured provisions. Termite guy said we’re termiteless. So YAY for us! Needless to say this afternoon included nappage, day drinkin’ and other high RDOS inactivities. Sup got fixed and et and the kitchen cleanded. Time for Netflix, chill, and popcorn!

Hippie YIKES! Hope you got some good rest after your treatment and consultation this mornin’. Those vaccines always knock me for a loop as well.

shoe except for Christmas Eve Eucharist I have not been out past eight p.m. for many a year. I get where the lady is comin’ from. Really, the idea of donnin’ attire acceptable for bein’ amongst and actually bein’ amongst the great unwashed after seven p.m. is almost unthinkable!

doggio you have witnessed a bin rebel! Stick it to the man bin rebel! Also, I must now clutch my pearls and fall onto the faintin’ couch at the mere mention of sto’ bought deviled aigs!

You’re lucky you’re out of smacking range!! :stuck_out_tongue:

MissOwl - that goes for you, too!

The chickie rice veggie soup was god, except I failed to salt it, so we had to take care of that at table. I think the dishwasher is done - it sounds quiet in the kitchen. Higgs is snoring between my calveson my recliner footrest. The $64,000 question is when will I finally crawl back to bed. I vote for “soon”…

Let’s keep religion out of this, shall we?

I see the devil hath indeed taken hold of thee.

And a good late afternoon to all. Did tidy up the kitchen some (still needs work) and got much sweating accomplished at the gym, will fix myself a Chee-burger here in a little while for my dining pleasure and try to catch up on my NY Times reading tonight. AC has been on most of the afternoon, the temperature isn’t that hot but the sun is bright and this place holds heat like nobody’s business. Also need to contact the parents of both my teams to remind them about practice and games this weekend and try to arrange to replay the ones that got cancelled last Saturday.

JtC, they are resurfacing the area around our pool, so no swimming this week. Got a glimpse of what they are doing and it looks pretty neat.

shoe, the term confused me too, I know ‘paddy’ is a light insult to the Irish (unless of course we use it about ourselves) but would like to learn about it too. And for most of my working life, 8pm was sorta late, when you get up at 5:10am every workday, early to bed is not a saying, it is a commandment…

Oopsie, enjoy the evening with your friends. And hope the career things work out as you wish.

wet one, take care now, and glad Ursala got shot and trimmed.

FCM. fingers crossed for a good parking spot tomorrow.

swampy, conga-rats on the mowage, I’m looking at my yard and trying to convince myself that it can go a few more days past Sunday without becoming a neighborhood embarrassment…

Ummm, let’s keep religion out of dinner discussions… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:   (dammit shoe, you beat me by 5 minutes)!!
