(Old) It's A Brand New MMP

We had a staph meating this morning from 1000 to 1145, then Taco Tuesday afterward. It’s now a bit past 13 o’clock, and I haven’t done much actual irking today. In two hours I’ll be heading toward the door.

At the staff meeting, one of my cow-orkers told me not to bring in any more Trader Joe’s Chocolate Hazelnut Sandwich Cookies, because she can’t resist them. When she saw the box on the kitchen counter, she accused me of bringing them in… which I denied and basically said, ‘Cite?’ She reminded me we have cameras outside. (Now that I think of it, the camera wouldn’t have been able to see into the bag.)

Once everyone was settled down and eating, she said something to someone that she’d told me not to bring those cookies in. I said, ‘I forgot.’ La Jefa said, ‘With John, we’ll have to tell him the opposite.’

Anyway, I had two Carb Balance ‘tacos’; one with ground beef, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese; and the other one similar, only with shredded chicken, and sautéed peppers. And a 20-ounce Monster Zero Ultra.

I found out today that I had misunderstood my knee surgeon back when I was getting my post-op instructions. I thought he said that I would need to take a heavy dose of amoxycillin before any dental work for a year (or two) after surgery. Since I wasn’t clear whether it is one or two years, I contacted his office and they told me it’s for life! Good thing I checked, as I’ve now got this new crown looming in a month or two.

I’m feeling a bit more human now, but still taking it easy on my belly (oatmeal planned for supper). Tomorrow, like shoe, I’ll pull on my big girl panties and go to irk.

Afternoon all. Visited the Batteries and Bulbs store and am fully battery-charged now. Dishwasher has been unloaded and newly dirty dishes are being added to it. Pedaling in place is done and sweat has been swut (yeah, it ain’t a word but it oughta be, IMHO). About an hour from now I’ll dress and head over to the soccer fields for practice with the U10’s, and that will conclude the planned activities for the day. 85F right now but the house is still comfortable without the AC (do have the overhead fan working).

FCM, glad you’ve been shot and glad that MIL can still get out and about, albeit with help. I usually have a plan for the week’s meals, but given that they require a minimal amount of preparation and cooking, it’s easier for just old me to do than trying to provide for several people.

Boo fae, you live in a civilized country when it comes to public transportation. Here…not so much. Hope the newbie picks up things fairly quickly.

Oopsie, glad you had a good meal and visit with father. Now to survive the ‘town hall’
And regarding tomatoes, everyone to their own tastes.

You and me both.

Feel better soon, red.

shoe, as does every working stiff since the Egyptian laborers hauled the pyramid stones…

Cookie, not sure what a post-knee operation treatment has to do with dental work, but best to follow Drs. orders.

OK, need to find my soccer clothes and start getting ready for practice. Take care all.

lol id bring a case of cookies and leave some in every room lol then ask everyone else if they had a problem with it :joy:

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put away where it stays until it gets dirty. Mowage, however did not occur. Right at daybreak we had a steady drizzle for about an hour so the yahd got all wet. Plus, OYKW has been sinusly all day, so holed up in the bedroom and I didn’t want to bug him with the mower noise. Plus, I did not want to, so there! :stuck_out_tongue: Nappage and day drinkin’ did occur, however. Chikin tenders got grilled and sup got et and then the kitchen cleanded up. Next up is Netflix, chill, and popcorn.

JtC AWWWWWW! So glad GG and Jolene are back together.

MetalMouse battery woes are so annoyin’. Fortunately we have a place called Battery Source that will take care of our fobs for not a whole lot of moolah.

MOOOOOOM I did kind of wonder what hospice would say about MIL and shots. Probably they would say it can’t hurt.

BooFae could it be that your neighbors have decided to reform and are no longer waste bin criminals? I hope not! Shadow has you well-trained.

Oopsie Glad N.O.L. with your dad went well. Hope you find some fun toys at the store.

Wheelie welcome back. It is kinda to read a gazillion posts.

red sorry your havin’ a case of the sickies. Glad you’re feelin’ better.

FlyBoy let’s test to see if La Jefe’s theory is correct. Don’t send a box of Trader Joe’s Chocolate Hazelnut Sandwich Cookies to all the mumpers. If we all get a box of cookies we’ll know she’s right.

Oh, she didn’t really have a problem with it. She just really, really likes them! Other cow-irkers accuse me of trying to make them fat so as to make myself look thinner.

Thanks everyone, I was so happy when they were able to cuddle again. She was just streeeeetching her toes out a split second before I hit the button. Dang it.

I meant to post this yesterday but got distracted by one lone fire truck heading towards that side of the fire.

We had a nice long rain that managed to penetrate the canopy and the smoke isn’t nearly as bad today.

Be sure and buy the white coconut ones! (How long is this thing going to last? Have you ever frozen your bra before? There are super thin cooling pads that you might be able to use.

Good public transportation was on top of my list when we moved here. There was none back at the Lakes and I wanted to know that when I was alone and couldn’t drive, I could still go out and do things. I wouldn’t be happy to not be able to jump in my car and run to the sto for a forgotten ingredient, but I’m kinda used to it because it took so long to get to the sto back in AZ.

And the timer just buzzed. Chiken and dumplins are done. Back later.

I know somebody who’s going to be eaten last!

Everything is extremely awesome!!!

Our cats are the source of most of our good habits. Hubs used to throw his socks and unders in the general direction of the laundry hamper. I got tired of picking up after him and started leaving them on the floor. One of our cats started peeing on them when he got a UTI and it was only noticed when Hubs gathered things up to do laundry. Kitty went to the vet, but never gave up peeing on clothes left on the floor. Clothes stopped being left on the floor. Paper on the floor got shredded, so paper stopped being tossed on the floor. I was sloppy about covering the butter until one of them started noshing on it. Toilets are always closed to keep cats out. Etc, etc, etc.

Oh man :frowning: I hope you wake up feeling better in the morning.

You too!

See how considerate you are! We all know you really did want to mow, you are just saying you didn’t so OYKW doesn’t feel bad

Din was good. I read something that said to make the dumpling dough and then drop spoons full on parchment paper for at least five minutes to allow the baking soda to activate. It’s supposed to make the dumplings fluffier. We didn’t notice a difference, so I’m thinking I won’t be bothering again.

After the rain stopped, we went to town to so we could looky-lou at the fire and utility pole repairs and then got my car inspected. When Hubs went last week, they just walked around the car and looked for rust, then took his money and gave him a sticker. This time they took my car to the garage to pull off a couple of wheels to look at the brakes. Hubs said the company had gotten caught in a sting after he got inspected so they are going to have to do what the state requires instead of what the customers prefer.

On the way home, I crossed the tracks to drive behind the fire and looky-lou there as well. There was an abandoned home between the tracks and the highway that burnt down and might have been the reason the fire burnt hot enough to involve the lines and transformer. We made another couple of tweeks to our power outage plan so I’m guessing it will not happen again for many years.

Thanks, everyone! It was a good day, but I’m soooo sleepy now. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Perhaps rocking_chair was thinking of Dagon.

Evening all. Soccer has been coached but with a little side drama. One of the boys and his Mom came early to practice so I was working with him when this guy shows up in his pickup and he and the Mom started talking over where the cars are parked, just off the field. He started getting louder, the climbed back into his pickup and screamed loud enough for us to hear on the field that she was a “whore” (said that several times) before driving off. I had monitored it but stayed with the kid, judging that me getting involved would only give him another target and since there was nothing violent occurring, best I could do was watch the 9 year old (who was obviously upset). After he left Mom collected the kid and took off, so don’t know anything more about the story. We’ll see if he’s at practice Friday or the game Saturday. Too much drama for this age group.

swampy, grass isn’t going to grow a foot in one day, so a case of the dont-wanna’s s quite understandable.

JtC, thanks for the pics, hopefully that is as close as you’ll be to the fire. And I never thought of W. Virginia when you say "good public transportation’, but I figure you know best. And glad you actually got a car inspection, Ali-bama doesn’t do that.

And just glanced up and it’s nearly 9pm, so not to long to bedtime. Take care all.

Happy Toosday!

It was cool and cloudy today. We got a little rain this evening.

Shoe, from what I understand, the t-bones are very good. My son isn’t a big meat eater, except when we used to go to the Mexican place, he always ordered steak. Even though he loves Mexican food.
I’d rather have a good lasagna than a steak.

I like tomatoes no matter how they are fixed. Except I don’t like tomato juice or tomato soup, or a Bloody Mary. Sometimes raw tomatoes make my mouth tingle, but it’s not an allergy like peanuts. It has something to do with raw fruits and vegetables and pollen. OAS - oral allergy syndrome.
Strawberries smell good, taste yukky, no matter how you fix them.

My son’s job is a pretty good one, MetalMouse. I lot of people come there from other places and they say how much nicer it is.

I hope you feel better soon, Red. Lots of stuff is going around.
At 5’1", head room is seldom a problem for me. Cars that sit low to the ground are a bigger problem. My knees don’t like to bend that way.

I once calculated that when I am working from home, it would be cheaper to take a cab or have stuff delivered than to have to pay for car insurance, maintenance, and gas. However, that would mean no long trips, and how would I get the dogs to the vet? Most cabs and ride services won’t allow dogs in the car. I could rent a car for long trips, I think. For the loaner car I had to show proof of insurance.
I don’t think my life would be over if I couldn’t drive. It would be an adjustment. I hate to drive though.

I forget what time our trash cans have to be out by. We always take them out the evening before I take my son to irk. I have no idea when the trash gets picked up because there are several companies out here that use different color cans. It seems most of them have the same pickup day as us, but I have no idea what trucks come by when, and which truck picks up ours. In the city trash had to be out by 2am I think.

I agree with Swampy, FlyBoy Don’t send me a box of cookies.

i have a case of Nutella spread in individual packets. I thought they were little candy bars. I’m going to put some in the freezer and see if they firm up and can be eaten like a little candy bar. If not, I need to find a home for them.

My son just texted. He won’t be getting out early and he is feeling sick again. He is out of sick leave

It continued raining. Spot and I napped, except when he was grooming my head. Now I’m up, and having a Manhattan and Redneck Stir fry(with Hatch chilies).

Well, I have enough friends in the food industry, I could get you a psychotic cook. Would that work?

Yay!

I have a rotation of meals, except for Friday. That’s for culinary anarchy!

They got paid with beer. I’d be happy to work for beer.

Nah, you want to be eaten first

Whoa! That’s no dragon!

All hail Cthulhu!

Amazing how totally inconvenient an injury to one’s dominant thumb can be (tore off a nail far enough that in a dog or cat, it would be “quicking” them).

I love a good ripe tomato, and I also enjoy most tomato-based sauces. They are two very different things to me, though, so I could understand a person liking one but not the other.

So I got my heart all echoed today. My appointment was at 10:30. I got there early, about 10:05, and there was a line at least 10 people long waiting to check in. It moved quickly, though, and I took a seat in literally the last available chair in the waiting room. I settled in for what I figured would be a lengthy wait, but before I could play even one round of Word Cookies, my name was called at 10:16. The procedure was quick and efficient, and I walked out the door at 10:32.
Don’t know the results yet, but things have been stable for the last 25 years, and the technician didn’t gasp out loud or anything, so I’m not worried.

I was supposed to go in for the CT tomorrow (it’s a different location). Got a phone call today asking me a bunch of prep questions; one was “did you get your blood test within the last two weeks?” Um, nobody told me I needed to do a blood test for this. Apparently it normally takes about 48 to 72 hours for results, so tomorrow’s appointment had to be cancelled. Grr. However, they were able to order a rush job as long as I could get to the vampires this afternoon. I said OK, and the appointment only got pushed back to Thursday, for which I had no plans anyway. So the inconvenience is minimal, but the lack of communication is still irksome.

I’ve read a few poor reviews about the administrative side of this particular heart clinic. But I do like the doctor so far. Hopefully they won’t be too difficult to deal with.

I LOL’d.

No, but that’s friggin’ genius.

Years ago, my late Other Shoe and I acquired a Maine Coon through the Cat Distribution System (love that germ!) and he came pre-programmed with this, uh, feature.

Boy, did our housekeeping habits improve, in a hurry!

Thanks, I do feel better.

We had a slooooowwwwww-ass day at work, which was mostly a nice change from Sunday’s football-fueled nonsense, but damn it gets boring after awhile.

But hey, they keep payin’ me to stand around, and I had enough downtime to snack on All The Things, which improved both physical & mental health.

I think you did exactly the very best thing possible.

Poor kid, caught in the crossfire like that. I’m sure home life is turbulent.

I, too, would be extremely sad to receive a box of chocolate hazelnut cookies. /s

My tummy has plenty of available space.

And may I ask where/how did you acquire indiv. packets of Nutella?!

{ winces in sympathy }

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

EEK!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (mostly moony?) with a predicted high of 87 and mostly N.O.S. Today is just a whirlwind of excitatement. The annual cave termite inspection is scheduled for eight-thirty this mornin’. Then, ima accomplish mowage (for real today!) whilst OYKW procures provisions. We will need this afternoon to recuperate from it all. Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

Nettie ouchie! Both of my thumbs ache in sympathy.

MetalMouse you did the right thing. I feel so sorry for that poor kid!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!
