(Old) Late morning for the MMP

Any Michigan nonsense I need to plan for, for tonight :pizza: work?

Will do! Thursday I brought home a big sourdough batard and I’ll soon toast couple of slices, slather them with real butter and peach preserves in your honor. It’s that kind of handmade bread that is so sturdy and chewy that your jaw almost hurts (but in a good way) from chewing it. My kinda bread. With a cup of coffee that’ll be my breakfast. If I hurry maybe I can eat breakfast by noon. Like a true RDOS. Might be tricky as I currently have a loudly purring Siamese draped over my collarbone insistently licking the underside of my chin.

Both are all over our side fence, neither one blooming all that much, both likely to grab the unsuspecting passerby. The other big pest plant hereabouts (but not in our yard) is bamboo. And I think I saw kudzu overtake one old building, but the building fell and I don’t know if the property owners nuked the kudzu or what, but I don’t think I’ve seen it again. But I haven’t driven past that property in some time.

OK, no putting it off any longer. I need to get out my cart and my nippers and have at it.

I did indeed drag myself to the goood bakery, but chickened out on the walkies round town- the ‘showers’ turned out to be proper torrential downpours, of the type that soaks you to the skin in seconds. I did call in at the little garden centre on the way back, to buy some horticultural grit; their neighbours had left a huge pile of cooking apples free for the taking- windfalls, but easy enough to cut the bruised bit out, so I snaffled a couple.

A pasta bake containing several homegrown courgettes, to be served with good crusty sourdough bread and an apple 'n blackberry crumble are baking away in the oven. Hopefully this should last me a few days as a reasonable food source, when my brain is too fried from writing.

Have you watched Heartland on Netflix? It’s a Canadian series about an Alberta ranching family centered around a horse whisperer daughter. Really all about horses and I think of you and Ariel every time I watch it. It’s almost Hallmark mild-mannered and PG 13 but relaxing binge material and plenty of it-Netflix just dropped season 19. I’m almost done falling asleep to West Wing and will Heartland Season 19 next.

Michigan is playing UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso but you probably knew that) at 2:30pm, in Ann Arbor. Michigan is favored by 34.5 points so there shouldn’t be grumpy unhappy campers ordering pizza afterwards to assuage their grief.

Michigan State, which I think is closer to you, is playing at Notre Dame at 6:30pm Central, so if you get slammed by anything it’ll probably be pregame pizza order for that 6:30 kick off. Notre Dame is favored by 29.5 points so you may have some Spartans fans needing to smother their sorrow with fried things and :pizza: after that rout.

Pulled the AC units from the windows today. Is really seeming like fall is approaching. Next task is to take Ms Peach for a mani-pedi and pick up some dry crunchy bits for her. Then may tackle the terlet seat replacement.

Being from Maine, I have no college hand-egg affiliation. But best of luck to y’all who follow.

I keep forgetting to take before-and-after pics, as if anyone cares. But I managed to free the side gate area of the wisteria and honeysuckle overgrowth - two full carts of vineage has been dumped in the woods. The side fence is about 400’ long, and at least 110’ has wisteria/trumpet vines growing on and thru it. I cleared maybe 6’. Much work ahead.

I also set up the sprinkler on the last section of the hill to be watered - the rest has been done over the last 2 days. And with luck, we’ll get rain starting tomorrow night.

I went to Purdue and I think they have a team…
I didn’t care about them when I was a student, and I don’t care as an alumna. When I was working at Jax and got transferred to a new engineering group, the first question of all newcomers was “Where did you go to school?” and “How’s their team this year?” They weren’t impressed with my answers. I was spared team conversations thereafter.

I think I’ve earned some chillage.

NC State is playing Vanderbilt today. The Pack looks like they’re doing well[1], so naturally I put my Wolfpack garden flag where my front door neighbor (a huge Vandy fan) can see it when he gets home from the game[2]

The morning has slipped away and it’s already the afternoon. I slept in this morning as one of the cats was being particularly cuddly and we all know you can’t stop cuddling a critter if you can help it!

Today is supposed to be our last day of 100F. I believe that will be day #46 at or above 100 this year, and that makes it the 3rd hottest summer ever recorded. We very badly need a change in the weather pattern.

Shoe that is an adorable video of Monkey! My cats are indoor-only but I am mighty tempted to stick a light up vest on them anyway!

Red yay for finally feeling better!!

Swampy behave yourself this afternoon and don’t go cussin’ too much

Taters I love me some good restaurant ramen, but I would be challenged to eat it 3 times in a week…

JtC I hope you and the Mr are able to enjoy the bar. Looking forward to your report on it. Those little bars can be fun places to hang out.

Wet one I always find it amusing when horses are given irreverent names, as they are such magnificent creatures. Also don’t float away.

Mollie your videos make me smile. I was in HS band and really loved it.

BBBoo You also enjoy the bar and don’t go getting yourself kicked out for too much cussin’ like Swampy would!

FCM You got a lot done today, definitely earned a rest.

Noted. Happy, exhilarated “yes!!!” on a good play is my likeliest display. The bartender is a very congenial middle aged woman and is pretty tolerant of such parochial enthusiasm. Being about half a mile from the Cornhusker stadium she is used to it.

Because my wife and I are mature adults who do mature adult things, we just ate about a quarter puond of pimento cheese for “lunch.” Next were going to go see Coyote vs Acme.

Howdy Y’all! My DAWGS actually played at 12:45 p.m., not 2:45 p.m. I cannot tell time before I finish caffeination, apparently. Anywho, the game is now over and my DAWGS smoked and et some Hawgs to the score of 45-17. WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! I was relatively good and so will not be placed in extra speshul sooper sekrete confession. We did eat the chikin nachos for lunch, but I did not achieve nappage. However, beerverages were consumed durin’ the game and da bear is slightly tipsy as I post. Stoopid teevee, ice cream, and a probable earlyish bedtime will take up the rest of the day.

MOOOOOOM I first read that is “I’m going to have a go at wedding again” and almost clutched my pearls and fell onto the faintin’ couch! The crabs Benedict at Eggs UP are some tasty little traitors. Haven’t been to CB in a long while. I have been disappointed in CB for a long, long time. When I have things I must needs do, I want to get up and get it done early, so I can have uninterrupted RDOS sloth time the rest of the day.

Taters glad everyone is havin’ a good time this weekend. I agree three times to the same place in seven days is a bit much. I mean, growin’ up it was not weird to do that, but it was a small town with not many places to eat that were all that good. Thus the pizza place got visited two or three times a week cause pizza and it was next to the roller rink and just down the road from the drive in.

JtC sounds like a good idea to set a timer on yourself so you take breaks to rest the shoulder. I had no idea GG had been sufferin’ such a hardship! The loveseat must return post haste!

FlyBoy I just be now noticin’ ‘tis talk like a pirate day. ARRR! Me timbers are gettin’ shivered in me old age!

Coppertone a chili cookoff and pizza. Now that’s a major food score!

WetOne indeed, sounds like a good day to binge. Also I have been sayin’ Boom Shakalaka a lot today. OYKW asked what was wrong with me and I had to explain. He was not as impressed.

red glad you had a good night’s sleep. HUZZAH on gettin’ around the house sans cane or walker!

Mollie looks like the little ones were havin’ a blast. I am sure they couldn’t help but grin whilst out on the field with the big kids. I am not sure what to say about the big day today, except I am here for ya along with the rest of the MMP. Pimento cheese makes a lot of things better and I am happy to see you make it yourself.

BBBoo Go Huskers! A burger and a cider is always a good thing.

Cookie sorry about the compromised CC. UGH! If you’re like me, once you donate the junk you don’t care what happens to it as long as it stays gone from me.

shoe Michigan has a home game against UTEP. This may be too late for you now.

nuts took me a couple secs to grok what courgettes are, but both functionin’ brain cells
bumped into each other to remind me. They would be good in a pasta bake.

The usual Saturday chaos, nothing like spending 30min undoing MSG’s screwups.. Also: 15 pacakges of Home Depot 4 foot tile that got smashed, fun dealing with that. Senior Clerk is taking Wed-Fri off next week, so there will be extra innings of chaos.

Can a chicken sin enough to merit eternal damnation?

If ye be moving wrong, the felines be helping with that. Arrrr!

Dude, it was 88 today.

They are giving me angina, down to the bell.

And Vanderbilt wins after a State fumble in the endzone instead of State just taking a knee, giving a safety and wining by 1.

The tater/leek soup is simmering at the moment. After cleaning all of those tiny leeks, I’m pretty sure that I won’t be planting them again next year. What a dirty, tedious job! Anyway, the house smells very nice.

I’m not sure the sale downstairs went all that well. I may go down later and see if any of our stuff went.

High of 67 today, nothing above 63 for the next week.

Ms Peach got her nails did. Then got to run around like a doofus in the back yard for a while.

I’m thinking BLT fer dinner, almost to the end of good 'maters here abouts.

First laundry is sloshing, got one more to go afters. The back is bad today, must get to some stretching. Difficult with an affectionate dog sniffing one’s face.

Very cool day around here today! We’re only up to 63Ferrets so far! I’m good with it.

Missing a day around here is bad news, so I won’t try to keep up with everyone. But I need to acknowledge a few happenings.

red, hooray for getting out of the hospital and getting back to unaided mobility! Those are both big wins worth celebrating! LOL, love the “Elvis sneer”, too. That’s exactly what it looks like!

Conga-rats to you and your Dawgs, swampy! A very decisive win that bodes well for their season! My Ducks aren’t playing today, and that’s… maybe not a bad thing.

Glad you’re feeling better, shoe! And I loved the Monkey vid.

Taters, how cool that you have some good memories of this area! Wish I could see your solar fountain, but alas, I don’t do the Book of Faces. It sounds awesome, though! And I’m glad you and the pups are enjoying your time with your son.

BooFae, I love hearing about your adventures. Enjoy!

rocker, lager is a special cat to endure a harness. Lucky you!

Glad you got a good night’s sleep at last, Nut.

52, maybe you should start wearing toe shoes and put those poor toes away in a wooden box! Gahh! And I do hope your +100Ferret temps are truly over – what misery!

Can you say, “Carol Doda”?

Welcome home, Mollie, and best wishes with next steps on your journey!

No, I didn’t even ask. She’s been so sick, and her current issues are even scarier. I knew she just wanted a friend, so that’s what I was. And you were a good person to let the nice old man bend your ear for such a long time.

JtC I look forward to the bar report. I’ll bet your hubs can handle it ok. It’s always melancholy to let go of a past life, though. And poor George! No love seat for all this time?? :weary_cat:

Good luck with the terlet seat replacement, VanGo. I did one of mine a couple weeks ago. I was surprised at how easily it went, so I hope it will go the same for you.

BBBooo, isn’t it great to have a neighborhood bar like that? I don’t go often, but we have a dandy one near me, too. It looks rough, but it’s actually very clean and the people who go are nice. And they make the best burgers in the whole county, so far as I’m concerned! Good luck to your Cornhuskers!

I’ve known some roosters who did.

Ouch.

cookie, I think you’ve made a wise decision there as to growing leeks. I’ll bet that soup will be gorgeous, though.

Yesterday was busy, got my errands run, my flu vax (no after effects to speak of) and met my friend for lunch. The treatment for pneumonia hasn’t alleviated her symptom, which is a persistent dull pain between her shoulder blades. She went in Thursday for more tests, but doesn’t yet have any results. As a woman who has beat breast cancer twice, she can’t help but be worried about the persistent pain and its location. I confess I’m worried, too. We don’t know anything for sure yet, though. I just hate all this for her.

Today has been a sloth fest, so I’m proud of my (almost) RDOS cred today. Ollie is chawing away at his 2:00 p.m. Kong treat so I can write this is relative peace. Soon we will stroll up to the mail box to see what surprises await. (Thanks to Informed Delivery, I already know.)

Breakfast was the last of the crepes with some ham and a banana. I have a sausage to use up along with some onion, mushrooms and peppers, so pizza dough is defrosting for dinner. Maybe a little salad alongside if I feel ambitious enough to make one.

Enjoy your days everyone!

Yes, it is, all true about my bar too. I have never not felt welcome and comfortable there in 40 some years. Thanks for the :ear_of_corn::american_football:GBR:ear_of_corn::american_football: well wishes.

I invited my kitty-corner across the street neighbor to join me if she feels like it. No RSVP because I think she’s probably at work in a hospital gift shop til 5:30. :crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3:here’s hoping she decides to come.

ETA: she’s in Atlanta for her grand daughter’s wedding. I’ll have to batch it…or is that spinster it?

Pizza people never showed.
