(Old) Late morning for the MMP

Howdy Y’all again! I got tired of stoopid teevee and OYKW is watchin’ one of his crime shows whilst laid up in the bed. Therefore I shall see whatup on teh intartoobz for a bit and then make an early bedtime of it this eve.

doggio don’t know about hens but I think roosters could probably merit eternal damnation. Also Vandy recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown and won 35-31. Blame Mollie cause she put a double jinx on the Wolfpack.

BrightTree your Ducks played last night and won 84-0 over Portland State. Guess they took all their frustrations about last week’s loss. Your friend has been through a lot and I can understand that she is worried. Glad for no after effects from the flu stab.

Coppertone that sux about the pizza people!

I ended up having to go out today. Fortunately, the rain subsided although they are still claiming we will need an ark tomorrow. I had to go to the barn because the staff said Ariel had no grain. I make baggies with her grain and her supplements. I make at least enough for five days at a time and I knew that she had baggies through Sunday morning. So I drive out there, swearing the whole time only to be told oh it’s OK we just didn’t see the baggies. Of course I ended up spending three hours out there and now I’m home exhausted in my PJs. Tomorrow hand to God, will be a day of inside sloth.

BBBoo I haven’t watched Heartland. I tend to not like shows with animals because if anything bad happens to the animal, I will get hysterical. I still do not believe that Bambi is a children’s movie. Anyway, my taste tends to run to police procedurals, gangsters, stuff like that. Chiefly British.

You did notice how I was expressing optimism, didn’t you?

Once again, the Wolfpack snatches defeate out of the jaws of victory.

Up from a quick nap. Having a Vieux Carré, and Asian BBQ stifry. Spot is ignoring his primates, since they were absent from worshiping him.

I started watching at Halftime. Not the first time the Wolfpack forgot how to handegg the moment I started watching.

Beats having an inquisitive cat slam his cement head into your naughty bits every time you get on the floor.

I remember before that, when we’d have to walk hundreds of feet to see if even if we had any, like some sort of Bronze Age peasant.

Evening all. Day has been..eventful, I’ll tell you about it and then try to get through the 50+ posts since last evening. Up about 6:15 to get breakfast and dress and travel to referee my 8:00am game, that went fine albeit it was already 81F and I was pretty sweaty by the end. Then walked over and watched one of our youth refs work a U8 girls game, she did pretty good but it’s tough when some of the 7 year olds were as tall as she was! Had to leave her at halftime as I had tor retrieve my car and drive over to the other soccer fields (we have fields in 2 parks about 4-5 miles apart) to coach my U7 team. We did good (won 4-2) and got home about noontime. Ate about a 1/2 pint of ice cream and then went to the gym for a couple hours for reasons that will become clear further along. Then back to the fields to referee a 5:00pm game (moved to that time as it would have cooled down some by then), but a ‘pop-up’ thunderboomer moved in and drenched things. As the rains moved on, I inspected the field and it was not playable (the goals had 2" standing water in them), so I proposed to move up to Dublin 9, a field on a higher piece of land, which the coaches agreed to and was in playable shape…at least, until the Parks sent out a notice that all the fields were closed. The coaches still wanted to play, but I could not ignore the Park directives, so I left them to it, which annoyed the Region commissioner, who thought I should have ordered/forced the 4 coaches and 30 parents (not counting the kids) to leave, even though the weather had cleared and the field was fine. So couldn’t win for losing. Decided to assuage my funk by using up those extra burned-off calories by going to 5 Guys and getting a burger with Regular Fries (note: 5 Guys regular fries are large enough to feed 2-3-4 people). Made it home and ate all of the fries and finished it off with the remainder of the ice cream (HaloTop Light Ice Cream, Chocolate Caramel Brownie) and am now sitting here well-fed and just a little bit tired–wonder why…

Now let’s see what excitement occupied the other Mumpers Saturday…(50 messages, so it’s been a busy 24 hours).

Shoe, I may have diabetes symptoms just looking at that cupcake picture…and while Michigan is done playing for the day, Michigan State is giving Notre Dame a battle so you might get a bit of a rush (and I see BBBoo covered it earlier).

Nut, sorry you couldn’t get your walk in, but sounds like you did well at the bakery.

JtC, that was a nice thing GDIL did, I guess standing on your principles doesn’t mean wasting good eats. I have avoided gout so far in my life and hope to keep that record going.

Flyboy, there goes the neighborhood…

Cat Glove, that’s a good idea for the future, but I have two boys teams this fall, so hair bows in the beard will have to wait. And I have two medications, one each early in the morning and I’m done, someday I’ll be up there with Hubs I am sure. Hope the scanner gets fixed fat and yeah, I’ve been trapped by the overly gabby before, but you probably made his day.

Shoe, Monkey has a certain swagger in his walk, IMHO. And a nice story with S.M. and the kids.

swampy, conga-rats on the DAWGS performance today. Ali-bama is just barely surviving and Auburn is losing at halftime, so no happy faces yet just to the west of you.

FCM, if you ever get one near you, try out Eggs Up, they are pretty good. And I’ve cleared some type of vines from around my wooden fence on occasion, but not in the quantity you have.

BBBoo, I see the current Nebraska score, so keep on cheering but don’t hit that hard cider too hard now…

boo fae, glad your feeling better, hope the music was good.

Taters, glad the son and dogs are having fun, but yeah, going to the same place too often can ruin it’s ‘specialness’ IMHO.

wet one, happy binge-watching. Never got into doing that, my Brother and SIL do it when I’m visiting (saw 1.5 seasons of Yellowstone) but guess I don’t have the patience to do that much TV watching. Stay dry.

red, glad your at Sis’s and catching up on sleepage. Keep improving!

Mollie, good on the band for welcoming the newbies–and looks like a fun night was had. And you mean ‘here goes something’, and we’ll be here for you. And looks like the Jinx worked…

Cookie, just paid off one of my two credit cards, I check them at least once a week for anything screwy, so far they are good.

52, hope you cool down some.

doggio, most worthless job: Quality Control inspector at Home Depot packing…

VanGo, how does Ms. Peach react to the nail clippings? I watch a You Tuber who grooms dogs and their reactions span the gamut…

bright tree, you are a good friend by just being there for her. Good on Ya!

wet one, take it easy, glad Ariel is eating well and hope tomorrow is more restful.

And I made it to the last post (for now), so all y-all take care and I’ll go explore other parts of the Internet. Take care now.

Complained to Church Guy and later as Im at the grocery store he messages me and has ordered me a small 2 square deal from Dominos and was bringing it over!

Living here in Florida now I couldn’t help but notice that the Red Sox are in Tampa this week, so I decided to catch game three of the series tomorrow. And in a surprising turn of events, my mother wants to go too.

Beating this drum again, but we lost my dad this past spring and things have been really hard on my mom but she’s hanging in there, gaining more and more perspective every day. I was shocked she wants to go this far outside of her comfort zone. It’s not that she’s sports ignorant - she’s not - I just didn’t think she’d be up for that many people in one place, so I’m thrilled we’re going to get to have this day together tomorrow. She keeps saying that she feels guilty every time she agrees to do something with me (movie, dinner out, baseball game) because those were the sort of things she always bailed on when my dad asked her. So I think this is a bit therapeutic for her as well.

Anyhoo … if there are any Dopers at Tropicana Field tomorrow … I’ll see you there.

I kept it to one 16 oz glass. The bartender remembers me and starts pulling the cider tap handle when I come through the door. She always remembers the big glass of ice to go with it. She says I’m her only regular who likes their cider over ice. It is really refreshing that way. This is a local micro brewery cider from about 15 miles away. It was a very quiet evening. For a long time it was only the bartender and me in the place.

Their grill special today was a $14 flat iron steak with a potato side and Texas toast and that was my eats for the day except for the handmade sourdough bread toast I had for brunch in boo fae’s honor.

We won 34-7 which was nice but it ended up being not a really interesting game in the second half .Fortunately this is the kind of bar when you can fiddle around on your iPad during all the commercial breaks and really slow parts. It’s nice to going into the conference play 3-0.

For cider? Tequila, maybe…

Keep the toast. I might have half of a baked potato. Deadcow sounds good.

We had Costco garlic-pesto salmon (yum!) and Italian-cut green beans for dinner.

That’s a real treasure you’ve got there, then. I’m so glad you were able to enjoy the game in such a pleasant spot! Your dinner sounds very tasty, too.

swampy, thanks for the update. I can be a lousy fan. In truth, I was fretting over my friend and didn’t give the Ducks a second thought this week. That was quite a win, though it would have been pretty monotonous to watch.

wet one, may nothing interrupt your day of sloth tomorrow! And our tee vee preferences run very similar, I think. More the police procedurals than the gangsters for me, though.

It’s not that much better now. In fact, it’s almost worse. Informed Delivery lies a lot. I often still feel like a Bronze Age peasant after schlepping up to my mailbox, only to discover the promised mail… isn’t there. The humanity! Informed Delivery made me get exercise for nothing!

metal mouse, what a frustrating day! I don’t blame you a bit for getting after a 5 Guys burger and fries! The ice cream might have been gilding the lily a little… Seriously, I hope you enjoyed it all.

j-bats, sounds like it will be a memorable and poignant day out with your mom tomorrow. Enjoy every minute together doing this special thing. How’s Bob?

Ollie and I had major play-tussles today. I caught up on some correspondence and then played with the little monster some more. He’s spent too much time crated lately, so I wanted to make it up to him and give him a proper wearing out. I think I succeeded. He’s dead to the world now.

I had Cheerios again for dinner. May have to try those apple ones one of these days, too. Pizza will keep for another day. It just sounded like way more than I wanted.

Catch you all tomorrow.

Jbatts That is great your mom is venturing out. And go Sox!

There is something wonderful about a local dive bar. I’m sad Ron-Don’s closed. When you walked in and most everyone knew your face, if not your name…pretty cool.

I have cleverly planned time off next month when the school district has days off. Perhaps my coworkers will deal with the knderflocken.

Survived Long/Late Night shift, and am even not totally wiped out.

It’s the 1st day since The Horrors of Last Wednesday that I felt pretty close to myself again.

Monkey is having a (hopefully) quick run-around while I have a smoke chat with y’all, then it’s beddy-bye time.

Mornin’
Today’s forecast features no rain, so some form of walkies will take place, though I had a laaaazy start. It is still somewhat windy, so I’m not sure where will be a good place to go; wandering round the hills when it’s this windy isn’t all that much fun.

One of my cousins agrees- my grandpa had a book of the film, and one of my older cousins had ripped out the page where his mum died. It was a nicer read like that.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 16c/60f with a predicted high of 17c/63f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “In my opinion, this is the fucking perfect type of weather. But I’m also fucking broken and not very bright.”

Taters sounds like the dogs have had a great time together. I agree with you on the restaurant choice, three times in a week is a bit too much but I suppose if it keeps Hubs happy (and he’s eating again), it will be worth the sacrifice.

Cat Glove what wonderful news about your Hubs and his medication, it’s been such a long journey for both of you, you must all be happy to see the results.

red must have been a lovely sleep with that little snuggly dog. Yay on walking around without assistance too!

Oh, that sounds absolutely delicious! I am looking forward to getting my hands on some good bread tomorrow when I go shopping, I could get some today but I am determined to have my day of sloth instead!

J-Bats hope you have/had a lovely time with your mum, sounds like you would both really enjoy that time together.

Yesterday turned out to be both fun and frustrating by the end of the night. We had a late start to the day, left home mid-afternoon to drive over to Cannock and had a very good time watching the bands. The headline act was really good, given the fact that the singer last performed about 8 years ago and had been through a dozen different surgeries on his hand. Not great when you are a keyboard player, but he did a great job. We chatted to the organisers and a couple of guys from another band on our way out as we’ll see them again next weekend.

'im indoors was stopped by a guy wanting to talk about his t-shirt, turns out the other guy was from Hereford which is the hometown of the band on ‘im indoors’ t-shirt. Had a brief natter about that, established that we’re all going to the same event to see that band, and we all disagree with the drama over the departure of the original singer  After that, we headed back to the car to drive home.

Got back to find that the Heritage Centre at the bottom of our street was open and raving (not unusual for a weekend), and also (not unusual) they had parked cars absolutely everywhere. That means blocking junctions, parking on pavements, over double-yellow (no parking) lines, and even blocking access to my off-street parking. We have a dropped kerb and gates in front of an obvious parking space. However, it’s not exactly illegal to block it because my car wasn’t there. It’s extremely selfish to prevent access to property, but only a serious matter if you’re blocking vehicular exit from it.

Anyway, I had to park at the end of the road ours joins, so about a 5 minute walk away as that was the closest available space that wasn’t going to block someone’s else’s driveway access. I got up this morning to walk round and retrieve my car, and the offending vehicle is still in front of my gates! I had Teh Grrrrr!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 89, becomin’ partly cloudy late mornin’, with a chance of rain around fourish. We shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have Verger duty. On the plus side, I don’t have to serve at the nine a.m. service. Jack’s will make lunch for us. I will have my group at three p.m., so will get through the day with no nappage. That will be two days in a row sans nappage! I may lose some of my RDOS cred!

MetalMouse what were you supposed to do? Physically throw players, coaches and parents off the field? SHEESH! Bama fans are shoutin’ with joy whilst Auburn fans weep and gnash their teeth.

Coppertone glad you got your pizza.

J_Bats glad your mom is decidin’ to get out more. When my dad died I worried my mom would become withdrawn. However, she decided to do some things she wanted to do, but couldn’t due to dad’s health in his final years. She went on a cruise, went to the local senior center and remodeled the house. It’s early days still for your mom, but good for her for wantin’ to get out and do some things.

BBBoo conga rats on your HUSKERS win! :ear_of_corn: Glad you had a nice evenin’ at the local waterin’ hole and a good sup.

WetOne enjoy your well-earned day of RDOS sloth. Sounds like a day where one my see animals line up two by two.

BrightTree how rude of Informed Delivery! Glad Ollie got to have funtime play time with his mommy.

VanGo smart move on the PTO timin’.

shoe glad you survived long night and are feelin’ a lot better.

Nuts hope you find a place to have a good walkie.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Morning cleaning and afternoon sloth, with (the horrors of?) pro handegg on the agenda. It’s currently 66 degrees Ferret Height(18.889 Centipedes). Spot is watching his shows.

A well deserved Grrr!

The house was open all night and the outside temp is 68 Ferrets, but it was 77 inside. So I had to close up and put the air on. FCD hardly slept because he was hot - you’d think he’d figure out to close up and air up… He’s sleeping now (I hope) and I’m surfing till I have to let Otis out.

I may have a shot at weeding again. Rain is in the forecast, tho not till later. We’ll see how I’m feeling as the day progresses. No real plans beyond that. I was thinking about getting my guitar out and seeing if the arthritic fingers can still handle it.

For now, caffeination continues. Happy Sunday!

I haven’t bought any ice cream for myself all summer but Kroger had Stroh’s ice cream at $2.99 for half gallon if you bought a total of 5 items that were in their grouping. So we did, 2 Simply Orange with Mango OJ, 2 Thomas’ English Muffins, one original for Hubs and one with raisins for me, and Stroh’s Motor City Fudge which is chocolate ice cream with fudge stripes and chocolate pieces throughout. I had it for dessert on Friday, breakfast and lunch yesterday.

Well, I sort of been thinking that I’m done donating but I’m A+ so I will make an appt and go donate in your name.

I had 2 Babcias. One of my cousins’ family called their other grandmother Busza, they said that Babcia is for one of the grandmothers, don’t remember if they said fraternal or maternal and Busza is for the other grandmother, again don’t remember if fraternal or maternal. So I just accepted that, being as I was in the youngest family (both of my parents were afterthought babies ie their next closest sibling was 6-8 yrs older). Thought I would google and found the same article as FCM did.

Daj mi buzi is what was said in our family if someone wanted a kiss. Taught it to Hubs; it’s likely the only Polish he knows other than Babcia or Dziadzia.

BBBoo Conga-rats on the Huskers win. I had to laugh when in some comments on Instagram, a ND fan said “well, we’re a hockey school”. My Spartans lost to the Catholic ND. Oh well, at least we kept it under the spread which was set at 29-1/2 pts. Final score ND 27 MSU 10. See you in EL next Saturday at 5pm EDT, not sure if you’re in Central or Mountain time zone. Oh, looks like you’ll have to go back to the local corner bar & grill as the game is on BTN.

Have to run and get ready for mass now; hope to be back this afternoon to catch up as I’m just up to post 219 of 257.

Bob is awesome. He’s been the best therapy dog for both me and my mom.

55F at 0730 on a Sunday. Last evening we went down to the room where the garage sale was, just to see if our stuff had sold. Most of it was gone, including two very nicely framed prints from Alaska. I hope they were purchased for the art and not just for the frames.

We’ll be heading down for B&G this morning. It’s become a regular thing for our Sunday breakfast.
