Good morning! < way-too-perky countenance > ![]()
Thanks to all who wished me a good night, as I definitely slept like a hibernating bear. A good night’s sleep is such a lovely gift!
Today is another (for 52) enviable day, temperature wise. We’re starting out with 50Ferrets and eventually rising to a forecast 68F. A very comfortable range, so I am happy with that. My heat pump barely runs at this time of year.
Ohh, you’ve got some keepers then, for sure! If you want my sure-fire small batch recipe for jam, just sing out. It’s easy, if you’re not sensitive to seeds. I don’t mind 'em.
You are wise to have a healthy fear of hitting one, especially at this time of year. Statistically, the chance of hitting a deer rises dramatically in the month of September due to the rut. Deer are more on the move and very apt to take a flier at a moving car. (Not intentionally, of course.) But perhaps it will reassure you some to know that in 21 years, I’ve never hit one, and nearly all my driving is on rural roads. I’ve probably jinxed my track record now, but goodness knows, I’m due. I’ve had many near misses, but it doesn’t count unless there is contact.
The things I learn here… I don’t like to think about how unpleasant a paper cut in the assumed region would be!
Sounds like a very challenging day at work, fly boy. Glad all the amounts matched as they needed to. Good luck at the PCP visit.
Nellie, it is always a treat to see you posting! Travel safe and best of luck to your brother for his knee replacement surgery. And thank goodness for people like you looking out for their neighbors. I hope the day comes when she realizes how much you helped her. As for poor Max, she’s created lots of problems for him. Some dogs really do need a lot of training for housebreaking. Ollie was such a one. He understood that my preference was for him to go outside, but it took fully 3 years before his anatomy was mature enough to comply. He was crapping almost the instant his snout cleared the food bowl. Most of his accidents took place near the door to go outside and were easy to clean up after on a hard wood floor. As for the hand-feeding, what a disservice to the little guy.
I’m glad your daughter’s kitteh’s passing was gentle, and good news that she enjoys her new job.
Ollie snores like a buzz saw, too. It actually makes me giggle. I toss and turn, and my disquiet is regularly punctuated with loud sounds of his untroubled repose. I guess I’d sleep as well if I had someone catering to my every need, too! I do hope something good can work out for Max and G.
doggio, your library of appropriate and inappropriate gif memes is endlessly impressive! And amusing.
BooFae, ugh on the germies intruding on your holiday! I hope your quiet day helps a lot.
swampy, when we moved here, the very first thing we did was install a 250 gallon propane tank underground. I only use LP gas for my clothes dryer and the stove. At my age, I hope I never have to learn how to cook on electric. I suck at it. I know all about induction and yada yada, but I cook a lot and have a firm preference. Hope the mowing goes well and you are soon on to the RDOS segment of the day’s proceedings!
Nut, hooray for being in the home stretch of your educational goal! Hang in there!
I may have to try there. I did attempt to find a human log splitter a few weeks ago, but the only respondent was someone I didn’t feel comfortable to invite to do the work. I do have a neighbor who might be able to point me in the right direction, though. I’d much rather pay someone to just split up the rounds than go through the kerfuffle of locating an available splitter and then needing the use of a friend’s truck to tow the damn thing back and forth from wherever I can rent it.
metal mouse, congrats on accomplishing the required jabs! I am glad you don’t suffer from them as I do. It’s only the COVID one that tears me up, but it does that very reliably.
taters, it’s very nice to have been thought of for the invitation to your former colleague’s dinner, but one perk of being an RDOS is not forcing yourself to endure work-type events you’re not especially interested in attending. You can send him a card wishing him well and then revel in not going on the night of the event! ![]()
Hail fellow well met, rocker! It’s nice to meet a fellow fan! I hear you re breakfast food.
Glad the aquarium is going so well, thanks to your attentive care!
Nettie, I fear gas prices will get much worse before (if?) they get better. I’m sorry yours are already so high.
BBBooo, I hope you get to see a flying squirrel – please enjoy that sight for both of us. I’ve never seen one in the wild, either. I don’t think we have them here in the PNW.
52, enjoy your quiet day!
Lily, may I say, “Ditto.”
dicey, if I were enduring your temps, I’d feel the same. But our cool, drizzly days of late persuaded me pumpkin pie would be just fine.
Enjoy your ice cream!
Puzzles are mostly puzzed and I don’t have much on for today. I got a call first thing from the propane company advising the delivery is scheduled for Thursday, and that’s perfect. I need to make an appointment for Ollie to get a butt squeeze, and he’s in for a home spa day today, but that won’t take long. The only thing on my to-do list is “feed indoor plants.” I’ll fill my time with more sorting through crap to get rid of, I suppose.
Switching back to a breakfast burrito today to use up the last tortilla. Will have to decide about how much effort I want to put into dinner. Not much, I don’t think. I’m trying to feed out of the freezer until I leave to visit my folks and only purchase absolutely necessary perishables.
I’ve concluded I can never become a serial killer. At the rate I lose hair, it would take investigators just one DNA test and a lightning-quick perusal of the crime scene to find the link between the decedent and me. I spend an inordinate amount of time picking hairs off my clothes, furniture and lap throws. Vacuuming helps, but not enough. Surprisingly, I don’t seem to run out of hair to shed. I almost wish I would! (Almost.)
Time to stop waffling and get busy. Have great days, everyone!
