(Old) Late morning for the MMP

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/62f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s fucking fine outside. That’s my fucking aggro weather report.”

I have had a couple of nice quiet days here. Still feeling grotty but I should start feeling better as I am on my second pack of medication. We had a couple of walks, went bowling last night, and had some good chats with friends. We’re all going out for food tonight, but have no other plans for the day. Just the kind of day I want!

Rosie’s sig to everyone!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 67 (BRRR!) Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 89 and sunny. We went to bed with Ty and I feel pretty good except for a sore arm. I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time today and not much else. Any need to feed today will be via forage. There are leftovers that need to get et up and there are plenty of sammich makin’s, chips and so forth.

BBBoo would the Iowa version of redneck be cornneck? Perhaps this needs to be studied. I never had to eat squirrel, I just did it anyway. I’ve also eaten 'possum just cause it was there. Maybe it’s me that needs to be studied.

Mollie ain’t nuttin’ wrong with a fact findin’ mission. I would imagine a lot of homework would need to be done before makin’ a big purchase like a RV. Glad Chloé has been a champ.

shoe I imagine you will give Milo’s a glowin’ report.

BooFae hope you feel better today. The plan of the day sounds just right to me. Haven’t been bowlin’ in years. Then again, I bowl like I live; mostly in the gutter.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Every cat I’ve ever known does this.

Today, I’m going to the audiologist to get another working hearing aid. When I was last there, I dropped off my left device, which was “pining for the fjords.” The weather frognosticators are showing me heavy rain at exactly the time when we’ll be on the road to that office in Goshen.

I have to get moving. The appt. is at 10:00 am.

Ziva also. It’s a feline conspiracy!

I did some math last night, and the trip to Indy may not happen. Between the $300 vet bill, the cost of boarding and the freekin’ cost of gas, we’re over the $1K line. Plus FCD really doesn’t want to go, but she’s his last living aunt and he feels obligated. We shall discuss today.

There’s also a chance that our Panama Canal cruise won’t happen. Because of the waterway closures/reductions associated with this Iran fiasco, more ships are trying to use the canal. BUT El Niño has caused a drought that is limiting the operation of the canal. Ships are backing up. And the likelihood of this all being resolved before January, well, yeah…

I’m pretty sure if I call Princess, they’ll say it’s all fine. But I’m betting they’re building a contingency for a west coast cruise, which we’re not interested in. Anyway, if there’s not going to be a cruise, when will they tell us and how much of a hassle will it be to get refunds from Amtrak and Princess and American Airlines? Stay tuned…

BIL is recovering well - they’ll let him drive starting next week, but the artificial voice box installation is still not set yet. And speaking of RVs, they plan to sell theirs - methinks they waited a bit too long. I wonder if they’ll just unload it and cut their losses. Knowing BIL, that’s not a likely scenario.

Good grief, lots of money talk in this post.

My only plan for today is pulling the poke I cooked yesterday. I unplugged the slow cooker to let it cool, then forgot about it. Luckily FCD caught my brainfart and he put the crock in the fridge. Can I do the pulling on cold < snerk> butt < snerk > or should I warm it a bit? Opinions?

We start with 64 Ferrets on the way to upper 80s but next week, highs are promised in the low 70s. So just a wee bit more sweating.

Happy Thursday!

Afternoon.

Woke up very late today and I still feel pretty exhausted, 'cos my sleep is all messed up. My brain needs an off switch sometimes, and the last few days have been some of those times, for pretty obvious reasons. I doubt it will improve much in the next two weeks either.

Maybe I need someone to come round with a giant comedy hammer; it works in the cartoons.

Tis cloudy and windy, with bits of sun and bits of rain. Basically, there’s just plenty of weather.

We used to have seven cats, so we had a lot of litter boxes. Every weekend, I’d dump and wash them all, then grumble when Hubs cat just had to be first in the fresh box.

One weekend, I took all of the boxes but one (as usual) and did the dump and bleach thing, then I watched and waited. When I saw the litter box queen using the soiled box, I went out and got the clean ones, then when she was done, I put all the new boxes down and then laughed while kitty worked and strained to get a drop of pee in the new box just because she had to be FIRST!

Not my circus…but with all the huge amounts of guilt he’s carrying over his parents, I think that not going would weigh on his mind in the grief spiral.

Dang about Otis and heartworms, I hope something can be done to help him.

Pulling cold meat isn’t a whole lot of fun, ya gotta warm it up a little first.

I remember those days. Not fondly though.

We are having weather here too. Currently its foggy and 70F, later we are expecting 90F and thunderstorms.

I’m glad you are feeling a little better and hope you finish recovering quickly!

We rescued a feral who never really got over wanting to go outside so I bought him a harness and leash. Once we were in our routine, he demanded an after dinner walk every evening. We never left the yard though, I was too worried about what would happen if we came across a stray dog. (Or even a leashed dog that liked killing things.)

The PT folks all seemed to think so. They told me they can tell the difference between the people like me who faithfully did all of our homework and those who didn’t. So lesson to all: if you have to go to PT, if you don’t do the work, you are only hurting yourself.

Honestly…I was almost at the point where I was going to accept defeat. If the universe really doesn’t want something, who am I to question it?

The dope is on my final to-do list. That was something I really had to talk to mom about with her list, though. She’s a member of several online groups and has been since forever. For some reason, she didn’t think that any of them would want to know what happened to her if she stopped posting, but I was able to disabuse her of that notion. Folks will want to know.

You have mentioned going to visit your folks, is Ollie going with you? Is he a good traveler?

Well, the sun’s starting to burn the fog off, I’d best get out and water my posies now, so off with me. Have great days everyone!

I like it!:ear_of_corn:

I like this too! **:rofl::bowling::joy:**

Good morning.

It’s 50F, dark and clear outside. Today is projected to be sunny and clear, with a daytime high of 77F.

While my dogs don’t use a litter box, they never fail to poo right after I finish picking up the poop in the backyard. Every.single.time. So, the practice is to pick up the poo, check out the garden area, and complete another poo sweep before going about my day.

JtC, yay for graduating from PT!

Filbert, my brain is the same. It never shuts off, even when nothing particularly stressful is going on, but it really ramps up when something is. There are all the imaginary “Should have said” scenarios, plans and lists for upcoming things, designing a patio, deck, garden, house; you name it, and the list goes on. It just never shuts down.

FCM, I hope the cruise works out, but like you, I’m a little skeptical it will. Gas and hotel costs alone kept me from taking a road trip this summer. I just wasn’t comfortable spending the money, even if I had it, because everything is rising every day.

BooFae, I hope you’re feeling much better today. I haven’t bowled in years either, but it sounds fun.

Nellie, I hope G receives the care she needs. It does sound like she shouldn’t be home. You have gone above and beyond.

We went back to Tanaka’s yesterday, and Mr. Taters had a crab bun and the Tanaka classic bowl. I had the Sukiyaki bowl, which was quite delicious. We stopped at Mud Bay on the way home and bought some treats for the pups.

Today, I need to run to Costco and the grocery store. I need TP, Diet Coke, Bocce Bakery treats for the pups, and one or two other things from Costco. I need coffee, breakfast sausage, Grands Flaky biscuits, and ingredients for tater tot casserole. I also need fixings for root beer floats. The grocery store items are at my husband’s request who really wants that casserole and wants to make biscuits and sausage gravy. He can’t actually make biscuits, so whomp biscuits will have to do.

My son is coming up sometime tomorrow to spend the weekend with us, so the pups will be happy to see both him and Zeus.

I guess I better get a move on. I need to get the last of the dishes in the dishwasher and get my day started.

Please take care of yourselves.

I know nothing about refunds from cruises but lots of experience with Amtrak. Refunds from them are easy as long as you didn’t buy the cheapest inflexible ticket (kinda like most airlines). I just call their 800 number and wrangle their phone tree until I get an actual human and request it and seconds later it is refunded to the original source of payment.

Yeah - I just skimmed a lot of fat off the top (leaving some for flavor) and I’ve got it warming up now.

Plus I’m showered and dressed. I ran a rinse cycle on some dishes and wiped down the counters. Now I’m about to start some financial wrangling. We try to make decisions that, theoretically, will have us spending our last dollar on our last day, but not before. I can’t help but want to have a big emergency cushion, not that we’ll be buying any more cars. Money is hard.

OK, time to pullout the calculator.

The frozen Pillsbury Grands biscuits are quite nice and the easiest biscuits ever, just ask shoe. Come in a blue bag, live in your freezer, then when you need a couple biscuits you pop 3r or 4 into the airfryer or oven and Bobs your uncle!

Morning all. Slept in until 8:15am this morning sans one bladder break, so should he rested. Cheerios have been consumed and and I heard either the garbage or recycle bin being emptied as I sat here, so that can head back to my garage in a bit. Nothing on the agenda except soccer practice with the littles at 5:30pm, so should be an easy day. It will certainly be a hot one, 84F at 9am and heading to 95F for the high and still no rain in sight.

boo fae, rest well and keep feeling better.

swampy, like you it’s been years since I’ve been bowling, and I doubt that I could break 100 anymore…more likely to break something on my body trying…

Knots, that reminds me, need to contact the ENT and see if my right-ear hearing aid has come back from warranty yet.

FCM, I can remember from a couple years ago there was a long line of ships anchored outside the Canal awaiting their turn–would not be surprised if it’s even worse now. But they did give cruise ships priority IIRC, so as long as they stick to schedule I think you’ll make it through OK. Glad BIL is recovering, wonder if he’ll reform some of his bad habits (not the way to bet, however, IMHO). And speak of money, only $8 cash in my billfold so probably need to get a little more from the bank.

Nut, hang in there for a couple more weeks and then you can take sloth lessons from swampy and me.

JtC,

Kinda glad your response was to FCM and not one of the guys in the MMP… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

And that’s all for now. E-mail to the ENT and my U7 soccer team come next and then the day is free. Have a good one all.

Nyuk nyuk nyuk. Oh, wise guy, eh?

What was the Welshman doing at the side of the road? Havin’ a leek.

He actually had stopped smoking and drinking in the weeks before surgery. Not sure if it’ll last - he’s quit before.

OK, is this a regional thing? I call 'em wallets. FCD and his family call them billfolds. I’m Merrylande, they’re Indiana.

Poke has been pulled, divided, bagged, and all labeled and in the freezer. Five packs of approx 12 oz each. There was about 5 oz left, and FCD is having it for lunch.

According to my calculations, with gas at $4.25, it’ll cost us between $600 to $700 to visit AuntB, including boarding Otis, meals along the way, and taking a side trip to Purdue. FCD seemed a tad unsettled when I told him. And if gas prices shoot up before October, I foresee a cancellation. All we can do is bide our time.

My two do the same thing. A freshly scooped (or washed and refilled) box MUST be used ASAP.

I heard lots of sirens nearby around 11 last night. Now I know why. This place is maybe a quarter of a mile from my house. It used to be an old post office that was shut down a few years back. They put a small fortune into making it into a salon. It’ll be interesting to see if they rebuild or just bulldoze it.

Afternoon and outside of eating too many calories I have done nothing of use so far today, so will shortly dress appropriately, load up the gym bag, and go do my walkies on the treadmills for a couple of hours. Then soccer and dinner and more ‘do-little’ time. I did get my Firday shopping list done, fairly sparse this week so not many fuel points to collect.

FCM, according to Goggle, a billfold is one that bends in half and is generally used to carry money (which is mine), while a wallet is a more general term for anything used to carry cards, money, etc., so billfold is a subset of the broader term wallet. Don’t know if it’s age- or regional- usage, it’s always been a billfold to me. And as for the salon, probably depends if they have enough insurance (if any) to rebuild or not.

OK, need to add the necessary outdoor apparel and get my tuchus in gear.

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable Thursday so far. It is headed above 100F again today - will be the 46th day this year at or above 100. Next week should bring relief with highs in the 80s and it can’t arrive soon enough.

I had an ocular migraine for the first time yesterday and what a bizarre experience! If I had been driving I would have needed to pull over for part of it but fortunately I was at irk and just had to deal with some difficulty reading the computer screens. It was done after about 30 minutes but unfortunately a roaring headache arrived about an hour later. I tried all of the OTC meds available in the first aid box but none seemed to make much difference. Thankfully it left on its own by dinner time.

My current pair of cats don’t seem to take any notice of when I clean their boxes. They’re the only cats I’ve ever known that don’t feel compelled to use the litter box as soon as it’s been cleaned. My prior pair of cats would also periodically decide that one was for pooping and one for peeing, but these boys don’t seem inclined to that either.

red I hope you’re doing better and the doctors finally figure out what’s going on. Good thing you moved closer to your sister when you did!

Nellie Good luck with your trip coming up. It might do you good to get away from the neighbors for a bit (although your SIL does sound rather unpleasant).

JtC Congrats on graduating PT!

Nuts I can’t imagine how stressed you are with trying to finish up your thesis.

FCM I am also someone that struggles with guilt over undone things when someone has passed, so I would make the trip if at all possible.

Metal Mouse Are the referees paid or voluntary positions? Just curious if being one or the other makes it easier/harder to fire someone that isn’t up to snuff.
