(Old) Late morning for the MMP

That is a lovely idea, thank you so much! (Does anyone know if vegan chocolate melts like the real stuff?) She really is a delightful person, even if I do secretly suspect her of becoming a vegan just so Harry has something to complain about.

Chopping everything will be good PT as well. It might take me all day but that’s OK. I need the exercise.

I filled my tank yesterday at 3.99/gal. Today it is 4.17/gal at the same station. Folks can’t afford to order from Temu when they can’t afford to go to work.

Thank goodness its something that can be controlled with diet. I’m so happy they got it figured out.

Cute crazy hair

Well, just last year, they were the ones being refereed. I hope you find some good ones.

I love potato-leek soup and have never made it. I should do something about that and soup season is on the way.

So it dawned foggy but dry then started heating up and the fog burned off around 9. The painter is here today and he’s making good progress, but I doubt he’ll be getting the crown moulding up today.

Well, off to do things for a while. I’ll check back later.

Yup, dairy free chocolate melts just like stuff with milk; before they changed the recipe, my former favourite type was dairy free. I’m not vegan, it was just nicer before they messed with it, and it worked great in recipes.

This is Kenji’s recipe. I’ve made it before and it’s very good. Also very easy to make.

:black_cat: :jack_o_lantern:

Seeing the picture of a certain black cat reminded me of the black kitty I saw on Saturday. While sitting on the bus, I noticed something moving on the floor. It was a teenaged black kitty (with a white patch underneath its chin) on a leash. Its person picked up the kitty and got off of the bus and set the kitty down on the sidewalk and started walking. Kitty did not.

The bus left before kitty moved, but it looked like its person was going to pick kitty up again. I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen a cat on a leash here in Switzerland.

First and foremost: Red, I’m hoping hard the docs figure out what’s going on and fix it.

Things are still crazy here. Hazel (G’s and my neighbor and mutual friend) called me this morning all at sixes and sevens because G sent her a text saying she’s going home today and then a text to say she’s having surgery and doesn’t have a will and asking Hazel to ask Hazel’s daughter to adopt Max the Dog when G dies from the anesthesia. Long story short, G is having a stent put in today. As you may know, it’s a minor procedure with no incisions. I communicated and reassured.

G’s daughter won’t be coming back down until this weekend. I wonder if the hospital will discharge G even if she has nobody at home to take care of her. I think if she’s in the hospital one more day, her docs could send her to a rehab place. Dunno. I’m leaving Friday one way or the other. That’s all I know.

I haven’t heard from Charlie’s person, so I assume he’s fully conscious now. His person was trying to figure out how to get him outside to pee when he couldn’t stand. She’s a nurse, so I’m sure she’ll figure it out. She’ll be home today and tomorrow. I’d take him on Friday if I were going to be here. I think it’ll be a week or so before she gets biopsy results.

Boo, thanks for inquiring about squirrel bark. I, too, was curious, only I imagined a special dog bark for squirrels. The reality sounds yummier. Let us know how the vegan version turns out, JtC.

The number of deer puns has been stag-gering.

Bless you all!

Well, it seems Otis might have heartworms. He’s been getting heartworm meds ever since we got him, and he was neg when we got him. Doc wants us to bring him back in a couple of months for a retest. Dammit.

He had to be muzzled - he growled at both the tech and the vet. He was not a happy puppy.

We’re home now. Supper will be forage. And so it goes.

Dammit indeed. Hope that 2nd test comes back negative. You were doing everything right giving him the monthly preventive.

I was curious about how he might have caught it, wondering if he may be contracted through the myriad wild mammals he’s eaten. Turns out that’s a nope. Led me to this interesting article

Life has been so busy I haven’t been back on the mmp in about 5-1/2 days. Finally finished reading last week’s mmp and here are a few comments:

I see wet_one gave Walmart as an answer. We buy ours at Kroger. You might try Meijer. There are about 4 different types: we buy Sweet Tea & Lemonade, we absolutely love it! If they are out of that, sometimes we wait or visit another Kroger but if we’re desperate, we’ll buy Famous Sweet Tea then add some lemon juice or lemonade. If neither are available and it’s over 90F, then we’ll buy Famous Unsweet Tea and add sugar and lemon. I forget what the fourth one is as we’ve never bought it.
We had never heard of Milo’s before reading about it on the MMP about 3 years ago. IIRC flyboy was extolling its virtues and some others joined in the chorus so we tried it and we are hooked; we’ve probably bought close to a hundred gallons in the last 3 years.

That is so cute. I love it! Great job

Yes, the next season is supposed to be starting soon and I’m looking forward to it.

In February 2022 he was diagnosed with MDS then had a stem cell transplant in January 2024. His Dr just gave him the all clear to go back to his former usual activities.

shoe those are so lovely.

I’ll be back later to expound on what’s been going on with Hubs and Bella and I.

On Monday Bella and I walked down to the office and I worked for several hours while she stood sentinel at the office door. One thing that happened was a woman came in to pick up some gift certificates for two charitable functions that she is involved with. Well, she’s well-known as a talker that is hard to stop. When she came into the office, she was overwhelmed to see Bella there and instead of bending mine and Manager’s ear, she talked to Bella and stroked her. I gave her a treat to give to Bella and she was so thankful. She said today was the first day she’d woken up without a pet in the house as her cat had just passed the day before and her dog within the past month. After she left, Manager said Bella had taken one for the team (as he hates to have to listen to this nice lady prattle on). When we got home, I made second breakfast for Bella.

My weekend was taken up with watching the US Open tennis semifinals on Th & Fr, and the championships on Sat-Women and Sun-Men and in walking Bella. My daughter and her girlfriend went camping on Saturday-Monday so Bella was dropped off Friday evening.

On Sunday we had a Top Hat Fundraiser at church where we Vincentians stand at the doors or in the gathering room after mass holding Top Hats for contributions to help our Neighbors in Need. We were happy to see that parishioners were generous so we can help some folks who are down on their luck. Made scrambled eggs with leftover steak and potato for my breakfast and second breakfast for Bella. I melt cheese on mine but none for Bella.

Monday afternoon Hubs and I went to his cardiologist; his EKG was good. The Dr said to stop one medication and prescribed a different one then refills were called in for three of his other heart medications; yes, he takes 4.

On Tuesday morning BF, Bella and I drove Hines Drive to a dirt parking lot where we walked the Lakeview Trail. It’s up and down, with a lot of twists and turns. We walked 3.3 miles but it felt much farther, particularly because the last 1+ miles was in the rain which had not been predicted. Poor little Bella was soaked and every once in a while, she stopped to do a shake-shake. I hadn’t taken her raincoat or mine as it wasn’t supposed to rain until 6pm. Luckily I had taken her paw towel so I was able to get most of the mud off her paws but the seat still had some dried dirt on it when we got home. I turned the heat up to 84F in the car so she could warm up and perhaps dry off a bit. We took naps in the pm then Bella was picked up at dinnertime.

Today I worked for 2-1/4 hrs then after filling Hubs pill box with the new medication and updating the medication excel spreadsheet, have just been catching up on some dvr’d shows and last week’s mmp.

And now we’re close to being over the hump. Can’t believe how fast this week is going. That’s what happens when you have a little Bella to take care of. :paw_prints:

Another gorgeous day here, albeit somewhat warmer. Started at around 50Ferrets, currently at 75F and topping out at 78F before all is said and done. Those high temperatures only stick around for about 30 minutes and then we already start the descent to the overnight lows.

A so-so night of sleep. I remember more of the early morning hours than I wish I did, but not as much as many other nights. I’ll take it.

And you posted it! Monkey is fabulous! He deserves lots of squeezy-crack!

Hard not to be. I’m right there with yas. I hope the French horn gig lived up to beyond its name!

Star pupil, too, without a doubt! Conga-rats to you! And I know you’ll find your way back to 100% and beyond. That package gave you fits, didn’t it?

The deer I encounter have all the trees to hide behind all the time. But I still haven’t hit one, so it can be done!

I hope everyone does this. There are various posters who’ve suddenly dropped off our radar and it haunts me some. I’m sure I’m not alone in this.

FCM, sorry Tobias had a melt down. You’re made of sterner stuff than I to endure it. He is awful cute, though, and I sure see a lot of you in him. The crazy hair thing is adorable!

Mollie, a picture is worth… so sweet!

Nellie, my best wishes for Charlie’s foot and for Max’s future. I do hope the hospital keeps G for at least another night and she receives the intervention she so clearly needs. You’ve gone above and beyond as a good neighbor and friend. As for ducking nephew’s call, I agree with others. No shame in taking some time for you.

metal mouse kudos for successful adulting! Glad your shots gave you so little trouble!

red, this is most unwelcome news. Knock it off, willya? Seriously, I hope the docs can find a real solution for you very soon. I’m uneasy for you. Best wishes and lots of hugs if they help. Thanks for keeping us updated, even though it’s not the best news yet. Scritches for Nelson when you can.

Nut, like you, I’ve been going a little crazy with the putting stuff by. I was looking in my auxiliary spice cabinet the other day and idly wondered who will benefit from it when I’m gone. With the way prices for everything are skyrocketing, I don’t think we’ll regret it.

Happy birthday to Mr. Taters today, Taters! Very nice gift he’s getting. Hope you enjoy Tanaka!

Ooff, I envy you your massage, wet one! Hope it exceeds your expectations.

True, but they’re worth fawning over.

Ugh. Mosquitos, I think. I hope for a false positive, too. But even if he has them, you’ve caught it early and they can be dealt with.

Cat Glove, sounds like you’re having a pretty fine time with Bella, muddy paws notwithstanding! May the rest of the week be as enjoyable for you all! And good for your hubs with his successful EKG and to stay on top of his meds. After all he’s been through, I’m sure that’s incentive.

Let’s see. Ollie and I had a nice toddle around the place so he could have a sniff-a-thon. Then he finally got his spa day: Bathed, ears cleaned, teeth brushed. He looks pretty swanky. Once in awhile he gets one of his lips folded under against his gums and sneers at me like one of the Lollipop Munchkins from the Wizard of Oz. I’d give about anything to catch a picture of it when it happens.

Haven’t done much more today than run and unload the dishwasher, get an early start on some paying work, make breakfast (crepes with cream cheese and blackberry jam with ham) and partake in an early lunch/dinner (potato salad with a hot dog and a few chips). I doubt I’ll want anything else for food today, but if I do, there’s still pumpkin pie.

A quiet night is planned here. May you all enjoy your evenings as you prefer!

Hwdy Y’all! We procured and stowed provisions. We also got our covid and flu stabs. We actually did that before we went to the grocery sto’. I made us an appointment for nine-thirty a.m. at the CVS across from the Pubic Sto’. So far no after effects aside from the fact I think my left arm might fall off. Both of us took some Ty this mornin’ as a precaution. I think nappage also helped. Sup got fixed and et, so we do both have appetites. I think an early bedtime and sleepin’ with Ty will be a smart thing to do.

{{{red}} so sorry your back in the horsepistol! Hope they get you fixed up sonest.

Nuts well, I mean, Nuts and squirrel sorta go together.

MetalMouse I think we’re gettin’ in a rut with all these deer puns.

Taters a very happy bday to Mr. Taters!

BBBoo squirrel is actually pretty tasty. It’s best grilled. Yes, I am gay and redneck.

MOOOOOOM that is some crazy hair there on the Tobester. Also yay about SIL! Hope everything turns out OK for Otis, poor doggy!

Cookie N.O.T./leek soup is so nummy!

Cat_Glove Bella earned that second breakfast! My church supports the local NIN through food donations. OYKW and I write a check monthly as well. I am sure we are not the only ones that do that.

It was informative. I didn’t know that the “French” horn actually came from Germany as an adaptation of the German hunting horn. It was originally just simply called “the horn”, but that term became generic for all manner of brass instruments and even spilled over into woodwinds, so the “French” modifier was attached for reasons unknown. Also, there is up to 30 feet of tubing in the average horn.

I grew up in a tar paper shack on the wrong side of the tracks and had to eat squirrel. Now I can chose not too. I’m whatever the Iowa version of a redneck is.

I did find it, and this is the one I got. Haven’t tried it yet but will report back.

Awww. :frowning:

Evening all. Exercised and spent about 30 minutes relaxing in the whirlpool…until J. showed up. J. is a nice enough guy, but he always wants to converse with me (or anyone else within earshot) and after 3-4 minutes of this, I’m looking for an escape hatch. At least he holds a conversation, 1-2 other guys will pick up on anything and start a monologue that you get to interrupt with “I see” or “that’s interesting” every 300 words or so. Needless to say if I see them first I find myself busy elsewhere… But dishes are put away, Cheeburger is in my belly, and garbage/recyclables bins are at the curb, so all necessary chores are completed. Will internet for awhile before heading off to Slumberland.

And only 15 messages to scroll so far. Best be about it.

cookie, as far as I can remember I have never had leeks, but enjoy your leekage…

No boom today…Boom tomorrow. There’s always a boom tomorrow.

We have some already…one guy who coaches has his 3 daughters (13, 16, 17) trained as referees and they are good–I’ll work with them anytime.

Dicey, never owned a cat but I thought cats and leashes were not a match made in Heaven…

Nellie, I do hope that G gets the help she obviously needs, but given the current health care situation, I am not optimistic. You’ve done above and beyond so far.

FCM, hope Otis gets cured and out of the growling habit–maybe he’ll decide it’s not worth being muzzled.

Cat Glove, good on Bella providing that lady some comfort and you and Manager some peace. And further good news on Hubs, but I wonder if I could remember to take 4 medications a day (2 are fine, it appears…). And surprise rain is always the worst IMHO.

Bright Tree, I could use a spa day like Ollie’s…

swampy, welcome to the Vax club. My arms feel fine now about 36 hours later.

And that’s all, folks. Have a good night and if I don’t get back this evening I’ll catch y’all tomorrow.

It has been a long, long day. We looked at a lot of Class As and compiled things we liked. We were thinking of buying last time we were here. This time, we knew we’re not in the market at this time. We’re here to fact find. I made sure to be up front with the sales people - I didn’t want them to waste their time. Unfortunately, that meant we weren’t getting a butt load of free water.

Chloé was a champ. She didn’t like the stroller too much (at all), but Mrs Magill had a kennel backpack that she found in the Aldi aisle of shame, which Chloé sat still in.

I napped. Spot napped with me. Dinner tonight is Teriyaki chicken stirfry with bok choi, broccoli and 'shrooms.

So you took a leek in the garden.

I guess not. and poo on the potential heartworms.

Even Ivanonva’s Russian fatalism isn’t prepared for this timeline.

Some are. Some act like Smegol with the Elven rope around his neck.

Depends on the individual cat, and whether they can grok that leash=fun outside time.

As with many things, it helps to start 'em young.

Just getting a late-night final in here. Got my checking account planned for the rest of the month and the next 3 months budgeted, so that is figured out. So off to bed I will go soon as I finish this (after 11pm local).

Concur.

And that’s all the ambition I have left. Catch up with y’all over a Big Bowl O’Cheerios tomorrow.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 65 degrees Ferret Height(18.333 Centipedes). It’s supposed to cool off next week.
