[Old] Lets have a healthy breakfast in the MMP

Yogurt. Mashed potatoes, with lotsa butter for the, um, calcium … yeah, that’s it.

Baby food. (Really!) Gerber makes a chicken noodle, and a chicken vegetable, that each give you a nice protein hit, and both are IMHO pretty tasty.

{ looks down to verify }

Yup. All good.

I’m so sorry you & your mom are going through this right now. I wish I knew what else so say, except … we’re here for ya, however we can be.

That sucks. Does she have to sleep in it, too? (Cuz if so, that would suck even more.)

Concur!

Well, I need to get gas, and I have a hankerin’ for black beans so need to make a quick grocery run.

HA! Gas, and beans. I see what I did there.

Might see if they have any really small spiral hams for Easter, while I’m at it.

Hey. Does anyone wanna come to my house while I’m at work and make me some deviled eggs? You can hang out with Monkey & I promise the snakes will stay locked up!

Potatoes smashed with ahhhh….lots of calcium sounds really good. Gonna need a big spoon.

swampie and mooooomm, she’s calling your names.

breakfast and me have an odd relationship since I was 12 years old

because that’s when I stopped eating anything considered proper breakfast except on the weekends because i had to get myself up and sometimes that was 15 minutes before the bus… usually it ended up being last night’s leftovers … hence cold pizza etc …

Cold pizza is a great breakfast. It has cheese (dairy), tomato sauce (vegetable) and usually a grain crust. If there is meat, you get more protein, it’s a great breakfast for an active young person running out the door to catch the bus.

All three of my kids have that habit in various parts of the kitchen - my youngest puts everything wherever it lands, my eldest puts things in the pantry wherever they can find room, and my husband* has an aversion to attacking pots and pans in a nesting order. I definitely feel your pain!

  • For these purposes, and in terms of geeking out over games, Hubby is definitely my third kid.

Having spent my admittedly horny teen years in Florida, I will second this. Sand can get… uncomfortable.

That’s what we’re getting up here too, though they’re saying the really bad weather is supposed to be hitting later tonight.

I’m sorry, hon. I know that’s the hardest thing to know. {{{wordy}}}

That’s something important to remember for any of our lives ones. It’s also one of the hardest things, I’ve found.

I wanted to find one for my family, but my Kroger didn’t have anything smaller than 10 pounds. I hope you have better luck than I did!

Hubby and CtE both will regularly eat Chinese food for breakfast. BtY will make a fresh pizza. For my house, this is normal breakfast! :smirk:

I spent the hour plus that CtE was in with their therapist reading the book for this month’s Project Lit at BtY’s middle school. Usually I take that time to walk my two miles, but it was raining and I wasn’t up for getting wet. I’ve read about 60% of the book so far. It’s a fairly quick read, in part because large parts of it were written as poetry. With my poetry challenge to myself, I’m really enjoying seeing these other poems that are written in a lot of the same styles that I do.

CtE had a good session with their therapist. They mentioned doing the Walk Out on Monday, talked a little about their possible future plans, and a bit about dealing with their anxiety. They came out of the session in a good mood, which I love to see.

I’m making up my To Do list for the weekend. CtE mentioned wanting to see the Mario movie this weekend. I told them if they and BtY would help with housecleaning over the weekend, then I’d see what we could do. I’m planning on getting haircuts done on Friday (along with, hopefully, renewing CtE’s permit). I’m going for a big change in my hair, cutting most of it off, then bleaching and dyeing it. I keep wavering between “It’ll look great and change is good” and “But my braids and buns and ponytails!!!” I’m just reminding myself that change is good.

Hi Sari same here, so what I do is either just have a half of a bagel with cream cheese and then some fruit (blueberries or banana or tangerine) or if it’s a really thick bagel, then I’ll cut it in thirds and only have one third per day. Hubs gets bagels from Einstein and always gets blueberry bagels for me :heavy_heart_exclamation:
Glad to hear that Cerby has taken to his new family.

Wordy that sounds like a very fun adventurous vacation. I’m sure the kids will love it! All the best to your Mom.

Pilot cheers for smooches!

Me too. I had to read it 3 times.

Yup, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. If you don’t take the first step . . . . Good going CtE for taking the first step. Also, great that they had a good session with the therapist.

Can you set an alarm on your phone?

MetalMouse Yay for the good work on your physique! Kudos on your great positive reinforcing posts!!!
Is there any chance that your municipal water dept can come out and check to see where a leak is. Our City wouldn’t charge for that. Also, when the problem is found, depending on what it is, sometimes the City will make a decrease adjustment on the water bill. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

I don’t know what coal rolled means. Since I’m only on post 94, it might have been explained somewhere between there and post 157, but if not, would someone please explain what this expression means. TIA.

Between work, taking friend to CT scan appointment that was an hour away, making lunch and sup for Hubs and catching up on 155 posts, I didn’t make it to the Fitness Center today. So, I’m going to hit the hay so I can get up early and go work out before real irk. Good night all

Wal-Mart had little quarter hams, sliced (not sure if spiral) and no sauce packet, but they’re less than six bucks a pound. Mine was just under two pounds, fits comfortably in one hand, about ten bucks total.

Awww, I’m glad it was a good session.

What color?!? :heart::orange_heart::yellow_heart::green_heart::blue_heart::purple_heart:

I recently cut my hair quite short after having long hair nearly all my life, and I feel ya - it is quite a change. I kinda miss the “twirl into a bun & forget it” easy care, but the short hair is kinda fun, if a bit unruly.

I need to pay a professional to fix my home chop job one of these days. But that is definitely a Future Shoe problem.

For now, black bean soup awaits!

ETA: there’s a GORGEOUS full moon tonight, for any Mumpers with clear skies. Seriously. Go outside. Look up. Marvel quietly.

I’m the eldest of 3 boys. When we were little my Mom very often said:

She meant it.

Truly magnificent tonight. Yesterday evening wasn’t bad either.

Up from naptime, had a martini(Tanqueray #10), and made spicy teriyaki stirfry for dinner.

“At FL 250, nobody can hear you cream”

Yeah I was in Vegas once when it was 105.

My sinuses are shedding their winter snot, and bringing in their summer snot. I feel your pain.

{{{{FairyChats and Taz}}}}

Outstanding!

  1. I do deviled eggs. 2. Snakes don’t bother me.

So making love at midnight, by the dunes of the Cape is right out.

You can be by the dunes and still in the RV. Or on a conveniently located pic-a-nic table

So after all that shopping, and starting to saute onions for the beans, I realized that despite being in the friggin’ soup aisle earlier, I neglected to get any chicken broth.

What, am I gonna make soup with WATER, like some peasant?

Le sigh. Shoes back on. Howler Monkey losing his mind at the back door. Return to store.

I did have two nice interactions tonight while shopping.

One was another woman at another self checkout. I normally hate to interrupt people while they’re doing their groovy thang, but I just had to stop her, and say, “I LOVE your hair!”
It was waist-length, and from her shoulders down was this lovely silvery-lavender color.

I felt weird interrupting her self checkout routine, but … y’all, the beaming smile on her face, made it all worthwhile. She gave me the most effusive “thank you!” and all I could think was, “Well, I meant it. Your hair IS pretty!”

The other was a woman with a semi-unruly gaggle of three kids. The oldest girl had rainbow tie-dye pants.
As gently and non-threateningly as I could, while also making smiling eye contact with her mom, I told her how much I like rainbow things, and I like tie-dye things, and so, guurrrrl, those pants are fabulous!. She beamed, unzipped her jacket, and showed off her matching tie-dye top, to my surprised amazement.

Dammit, my vent stack is leaking again. Just got the first real rain in months, and I got some drips from the bathroom ceiling. I thought I had that solved. I fear more caulk and drywall in my future.

shoe Get yourself some better than bullion and not worry about forgetting broth. But I do like your tale of hair enjoying.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
It’s Holy Thursday, and the full moon. Which means tonight one Disciple will betray Jesus, and one Disciple will be outed as a werewolf. :wolf:

I second BtB.

We got lucky last night - the sky was so clear we could even see stars, along with the moon. Also meant it was COLD. I don’t know why we think it should be warm for Easter, even when I was a kid in PNW I would often wear my winter coat while hunting Easter Eggs.

Speaking of Easter, I should go to the store today as tomorrow everything’s closed. I can go also on Saturday, but it will be slammed with all the people who only shop on Saturday, even though they could shop on weekdays.

No idea what to cook - need to look at the freezer first, as we’re still trying to get it emptier so we can do a big defrost. And then start filling it up again.

Maybe I’ll get a dozen eggs and make some devilled eggs. Probably need mayo as well. Hubby won’t eat them, so more for me. I found that steaming the eggs makes it super easy to peel them.

The town guy came by to inspect our construction which was completed 2 years ago. He’s a contractor, and he made one measurement and counted the number of glass panels. And pronounced it good. We should get written confirmation the mail.

Typical Swiss construction person, showed up 5 minutes early. Yes, that’s typical. Got our windows replaced? Showed up 5 minutes early. Got the downspouts repaired? Showed up 5 minutes early. Sometimes predictability is good.

Today is absolutely gorgeous, and cold. So maybe we might do something outside. Could be an idea.

This! I have it in chicken and in beef and it’s great!

I’m expected to bring the deviled eggs to my niece’s Easter gathering. In fact, any family gathering requires my deviled eggs. I do half with mayo and relish, then the rest are bloody Mary deviled eggs. And I do this for Easter.

In theory, no rain here till mid-afternoon, so we’re heading to the boatyard early and I’ll finish stripping the transom. Not sure if we’ll sand today or save that for next week - MTW are supposed to be really nice. But when we get home today, I’ll do some laundry, and maybe boil the eggs for Sunday. I’m hoping for a short day with the boat - I’m still a bit achy after yesterday. But we shall see.

Happy Thursday, all!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN Actually been up a bit, but spent some time out on the back porch howlin’ at lookin’ at the beautiful full moon. ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 86 and mostly N.O.S. The plan of the day includes gettin’ our haids shorn, brunch at Waffle House cause we’re classy, sloth, nappage, and then Maundy Thursday service over to the church house at six this evenin’. Because we shall be bears who brunch today, any other need to feed will be via forage.

{{{Wordy and Mom}}} I have no words of wisdom other than hopin’ for the best outcome all around. Hope the girl does not have to wear the brace for long.

MetalMouse it wouldn’t be a sloth club if it was organized cause organizin’ is anti-sloth.

RealFish glad CtE had a good session with their therapist.

VanGo hope you can find and fix the leak soonest and for good this time.

doggio the Passion Gospel would be a lot more fun to read if Peter turned into a werewolf after the rooster crowed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed, although it need not be too fancy to be amongst the great unwashed of Waffle House.

Happy Thursday Y’all! A Blessed Maundy Thursday to those who observe.

Oh, I have it, in both chicken and roasted garlic (which is YUM) but for this, I wanted actual broth. Wound up using an entire big carton of Swanson.

This made me laugh. If you’re wearing pants of any kind, you’re ahead of the game.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 44 degrees, and the expected high is around 54. The day will contain various forms of rain.

Someone up-thread (KittenMitten?) asked about feeders and how to keep the squirrels at bay. I use a squirrel baffle, which has, amazingly, worked. Not one squirrel has managed to get past it. Here are some pics of the station I have with the squirrel baffle. Bird Feeding station. The trick is finding the right height on the station. That said, they build feeders with cages around them that let the birds in and supposedly keep the squirrels out. However, I’ve seen squirrels manage to get into those.

wordy, all I can send is hugs. So sorry that you and your mother are dealing with this.

Hippy, nice work on the squares!

FCM, I only had a ski boat, which was more than enough maintenance for me. We kept that thing looking brand new, but at least we only had to use a hose, soapy water, and a shop vac to clean it. I can’t imagine having to scrape and paint a hull, plus all the care of the woodwork both inside and outside. I don’t miss having to pay for fuel, taxes, and storage, plus just feeling like we HAD to use it, so most every weekend was taken up with boating from about March forward.

Today is my Friday and thank goodness for that. It’s been another crazy work week and I’m just done. I have a serious case of the donwannas, but Ihafta. I did get some issues that had been festering for a week or two resolved, so that’s good, but there is always something else to chase down.

VanGo, I hope you find the leak.

Tomorrow I must go to the MAUL (oh, the humanity!), and find some spring/summer outfits for the grandkids. I have the rest of their Easter baskets ready to go.

My son dropped by yesterday on his way to the daughter’s house. My daughter and son-in-law live near the airport, so he’s staying the night there, and they’ll drop him at the airport today. He will spend a few days in Denver with a pal of his from school days and returns next week. I’m sure he’ll have a blast.

FCM, I hope Taz is doing better.

Sari, I hope Ripple has a better day today. Polar hasn’t tried to get on the bed for the last few years now; it’s too high and even the stairs are becoming a struggle, but he climbs them every day to be near me when I work from home.

Well, the kitchen is clean and all I need to do is finish my coffee before I start the work day.

Ye gods, ain’t that the truth. Sometimes I think the story of Sisyphus is the cruelest, and most relatable, of all the myths.

in 1987 Mom lived in Tucson for a year and I went there in July my flipflops melted to the sidewalk when we were walking to the library now living in the antelope valley where it’s just as hot it shouldn’t have surprised her but yeah it was a mess …funny thing was relatives said it took the city like 3 years to scrape them off the sidewall … a lot of people thought it was some sort of art exhibit …
