(Old) Meticulously Monday the MMP!

Daughter texted me a pic of Tobias in the car:

I guess kids don’t play I spy with my little eye any more. He’s using my old tablet.

They should be getting to their hotel any time now - stopping for lunch made their schedule slip. She said they stayed at a Days Inn last night and it was bad. I told her to write to corporate - worst that can happen is she wastes a few minutes of her time. But I bet she doesn’t follow thru.

MIL cracks me up - she asks to listen to her audiobook, then falls asleep, but she claims she can still keep up with the story. I’ve never read John Grisham, but I’m guessing it’s complex enough that you don’t want to sleep thru it.

Not sure what I’ll do for supper tonight. I have a hankerin’ for Salsa’s, but I don’t want to have to leave the house. They don’t deliver. So I guess I cook or we leave the house. It’s so hard to be me…

We’ll get our boat back next week. Thanks to the holiday weekend, it won’t get hauled out and sprayed down till then. FCD plans to go over and inspect everything while no one’s working on it. I guess I’ll see it all one day. As for me, I plan to go to Aldi early tomorrow, then run into Daughter’s house to check on the cats and the turtle. Meanwhile, the laundry is done so there’s that.

You guys, I just ordered the coolest thing that I absolutely do not need but there was no way I wasn’t getting one as soon as I learned it existed: an analog metronome watch (this goes to a 2-year-old review; there’s no Seiko product link that I can find). It’s also a pitch pipe! I saw a picture of one a day or two ago, in a meme about drummers: it looked like it could be an actual product and I was vaguely intrigued, but the meme wasn’t funny/worth sharing and I got distracted and forgot about it – until a little while ago, when a friend posted a video with a metronome playing in the background. That reminded me of the picture and prompted me to do a search, and I discovered that it is an actual product! I can count on one hand the number of things I’ve bought from eBay…that total just increased. It’s being shipped from Japan, and is supposed to arrive sometime between 9/3 and 9/10.

In other news, it’s 3:30 and I’ve decided that I’m done working for the day. Let the holiday weekend commence!

I’ve only looked at Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace Hardware online, but so far I’d be happy with either this Andersen or this Pella. I still need to research other places/brands, but once I have the green light from my property manager the choice will likely come down to simple availability.

OMG! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

FcM Good grief Tobias has lots of distractions for the road trip. Headphones, chips, tablet, sonic shake, and something green. Grrr, get off my lawn.

Dammit. I was painting the tailpiece for the bike and I got a run. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: Now I’ll have to wait a week before I can sand all of the paint off and start over. Actually, SWMBO keeps mentioning I need to get all of the stuff out of the catio. I’ll just put everything away and give up for a while.

Apparently, we’re going out to the Silver Reef Casino for dinner tonight. The Spousal Unit left a message for a 5:00 reservation at The Steak House. But then she looked at the menu for the Red River Café. The prime rib is half the price of the prime rib at The Steak House, and I’ll bet they cut them off the same roast. Wifey liked the sound of the blackened chicken alfredo at the café.

Howdy Y’all! I actually got productive for a while. I made N.O.T. sallit and got baked beans ready for bakin’, also part of tomorrow’s fare. Plus, since this Sunday is brunch Sunday over to the church house, I went ahead and made a chawklit sheet cake with chawklit pee-kahn icin’. It can be refrigerated and is actually better that way. All this took three hours out of my RDOS inactivities! I hope my license does not get revoked.

MOOOOOOM I let the ribs smoke for about four hours and then wrap them up tight in heavy duty foil. It’s always been thinygmy thing to smoke 'em one day and eat 'em the next. Anywho, the next day I let them hang out in my way big oven/slow cooker thingy at 250 Amurrkin for a couple of hours. Same deal if you use a regular oven. If you want to smoke and eat the same days, I’m told they should smoke around six to seven hours.

A nice low-humidity day for a change, and no severe storm warning in effect. Did another batch of voter postcards after the exercise session. Also cleaning day at The Home. I have to speak to management about the cleanser they use. Man, that stuff is brutal. It’s been three hours with the windows open and it’s finally dissipated.

It’s going to be corn on the cob for dinner, I think. Maybe some sliced deli meat on the side. I think it’s a rule that you have to overstuff yourself with fresh corn when it’s available.

Trying to decide on a new 12" nonstick pan. I’ve had two Cuisinart pans that lasted about 3-4 years each before starting to degrade. Not bad, I guess. Any suggestions welcome.

Giant Eagle has pumpkin pie.
Yes.

Written like someone else without a dishwasher. :stuck_out_tongue:

Others are the fluffin’ ijits picking up folks at my irkplace. We have designated parking slots close to the employee entrance / exit for them. Do they pull into them? NO! They pull up and wait right behind them causing issues for anyone who actually wants to use them and the people trying to back out on the other side.

Feel better soonest shoe and BooFae!

After the first couple of years living here, I gave up on growing tomatoes or peppers or anything else with a bloom. I live on the shady side of the building, so my patio plants tend to be herbs that don’t really blossom.

:people_hugging:
Nelson needed help when he was a wee pup (3 months old and 5# when he came to me), but it wasn’t long before he could do it himself. He has issues when we overnight somewhere with a high bed because he’s a small, bottom heavy boi. At some point, I know we’ll have to go to stairs when he gets old though. Skritches to Bailey.

The PCP pronounced that my toe was healing nicely and that I was doing the right stuff for it. I swung through What-A-Burger for breakfast, then on to the big Kroger in the old town for groceries before coming home.

Sis called this afternoon and we talked for a couple of hours. Afterwards, I took Nelson out. It was so windy that it was blowing dust from the drought stricken lawns on both sides of the fence. I hope that we get the predicted rain.

Shortly, I’ll awaken the small, reddish doggy in my arms and fix a nice salad and an ear of sweet corn for supper with one of the nectarines, most all from the farmer’s market trip this morning.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’ve got one called a “CoolHandle” that I got from the local restaurant supply place that I really like. Dunno if you’ve got a restaurant supply place near you, but iffn I got one here in my little town, I bet there is one near you.

After a quick google look, it appears Cool Handle is a brand of, well, handles they put on pans. My pan is a “Vollrath” as claimed by the engraving one the bottom. Anyway, I’d suggest hitting up the nearest supply place.

I used to have a very large Volrath pan. Totally indestructible. I’ll look into it.

They arrived at the hotel safely, so yay! Daughter said they may come home via I-81 to see some semi-mountainous terrain. But for now, it’s a couple of days of family time.

We went to Salsa’s for supper, so no cooking for me. The rest of today is for chillage.

I was about to tell you not to allow that, but you’re south of Pennsylvania. I 81 in Penn has been under construction for the last 20+ years. And the weather always sucks.

Hmmm, dinner-ish things. Last night was a fail. Thinking butter pasta tonight. Wish me luck.

Hurray for safe travels!

Never put non-stick pans in the dishwasher, we learned that the hard way.

I can sympathize. I once tried to paint a motorcycle using rattle cans and it didn’t turn out nearly as well as I had envisioned.

My people!!!

It looks super neat, I hope you love it.

I am kinda pissed as well. His only job is to make the horses and owners happy and he certainly failed this time. Jerk.

Thank you so much for the pics. How much longer do you think it will take? Are you planning on getting something else when it is gone?

Yeah, stop doing that. Ya gotta feed the machine and the older you get the less reserves you have if you don’t.

So I was pretty proud of myself tonight. I was making dinner and had a big knife sitting on the edge of the counter. I hit it with my elbow and knocked it off. Instead of being stoopid, my instant reaction was to flinch away.

I have a list of things to do this weekend. So far I did get to the giant and got weekend food. Decided not to wash and change the bedding tonight. Perhaps tomorrow. 1 out of 2 for today.

Very wise, JtC I’d probably have tried to catch the thing.

You did good! You needed something to do tomorrow anyhow.

Today I learned that crawdads in WV live in holes. In your back yard. I thought we had gophers or groundhogs or something like that when I noticed the holes by the shed. My plan was to ignore them and hope they would go away by themselves because that always works, LOL!

Harry just came over with a bucket and said he wanted to dig our crawdads up and put them on his property. Apparently he has a crawdad patch and harvests them a couple of times a year for dinner.

I’ve learned to “trust but verify” things like that so I got in my car and drove around the train tracks to look in his back yard. There is one area that is all dug up and he had some sprinklers going to keep that dirt nice and wet so his dinner doesn’t wander away.

Moving to a totally different “country” was good for us. We have to keep learning.

I did in the past. Blood happened. I’m so happy I learned the first time cause I keep my knives sharp.

Trevor the sneak has been eating cat food. Now he’s Trevor the fart machine. Idiot dog… yeah, I moved the cat feeder. I thought it was high enough. Nope.

Always something.

Check the litter box location. Trevor would probably enjoy snacking on used cat food as well.

Kitty Tootsie Rolls.

The cat box is behind a cat door that Trevor couldn’t fit his head thru. We learned to keep that away from Higgs, as she finds cat poop to be a delightful snack. The farts are slowing, so I hope he’ll be less lethal soon.

Meanwhile, it’s my beddy-bye time. MWAH!
