Good evening all. Soccer is done, only 3 boys could make it tonight so it was a short practice and then went to Kroger for a final purchase that got me over 1,400 points for the month so my fill-up cost me $1.99/gallon for the mid-grade fuel. Now have to head off to bed as my first soccer game is at 8:30am so it should be a full day.
FCM, glad the young’uns made it safe and sound. Great pic of Toby, young man be chillin’ (is that still a term being used or am I an old fart?)
Oopsie, politely raise hell with the manager about the door; that should be an easy fix and no reason to prevaricate about it. And glad to see the tattoo removal coming along, but man that is a lot of time and effort to get it done.
wet one, glad Ariel got her BFF back next door; manager dropped the ball there badly.
Oopsie, nice watch, hope it meets your expectations.
Flyboy, I reckon painting your bike is a craft that can be frustrating…
JtC, never knew that about creawdads; you continue to contribute to my miscellaneous knowledge of this strange and wonderful plane of ours.
OK, need to finish up here and be in bed by 10pm so I can get my 8 hours of sleep, going to be a busy day tomorrow. Take care all.
We ended up at Red River Café, and we both had prime rib. Hers was medium-rare, and mine was rare. Then we went to the gift shop, and Mrs. L.A. bought a couple of locally-made bead things (a bird, and a poinsettia).
Longish day. We had a couple of big thunderstorms come through, and I lost power, so I went to bed. Spot joined me after the storms. And today is Jimmy Buffett Day, and Mai Tai Day, so Fins Up!
But look on the bright side. Maggie Wonderbeale would sleep howl when she slept with me.
When I was about 10, my two brothers and I shared a bedroom. I was on the top bunk, my younger brother was on the bottom and our older brother had his own bed.
He was reading by candle light, with a long candle he had made himself. He had propped the candle up against a tennis shoe and then fell asleep.
The candle burned down to the shoe and then it started in on fire, and then the floor caught fire. It was slowly burning toward his bed and sheets when I woke up with a very dry throat.
We were putting out the flames when my dad woke up. Fortunately no one was hurt and only minimal damage to the floor.
The next day was my great grandfather’s funeral, and our clothes smelled like smoke. My mom wasn’t amused.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 and N.O.S. for the day. JDD and Partner will be over around elevenish to hang at the cee-mint pond. I shall be sociable and all, but my DAWGS play at noon. That takes precedent and everyone knows that. I do have ribs to finish up cookin’ and baked beans to bake so I can be chef. Oh and corn on the cob to cook, except I eat mine off the cob. Dessert shall be watermelon. A perfect Summer menu! A big day at da cave!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward with preparations for the feast and into the day! Rah.
Bad enough I get spammy emails to give myself a scary big erection, but today in my spam folder was something in German. My two semesters of German 45 years ago gave me just enough insight to recognize that it was written in German. Maybe it was about getting a big German erection? Dunno.
Up early because I want to tend to Daughter’s other critters then go to Aldi first thing. For whatever reason, MIL came out at 6:30 thinking we woke her to do something. She was wearing a sweatshirt and underpants, with her shoes sitting on the seat of her walker. I persuaded her to go back to bed.
Feeding the two canines was a challenge of sorts. Trevor is an eating machine and I had to keep him from stealing Higgs’ food. He did manage to steal a few bits of kitteh kibbles before I remembered to put it up out of his reach. However, both dogs are fed. And while they were outside watering the yard, Ziva came out to get some treats. Poor kitteh - she wants this big noisy lab gone. Two more nights…
I still need to have a look in the pantry and the freezer before I go - I may even make a list!! How much do I trust my memory?? <------ I made a funny joke there!!
And so my day has begun. Two days in the 80s, then we drop back into the 70s for most of the rest of the week. I see windows coming open in a few days, so yay! I also see leaves turning which means vac/mulching will be on the agenda - I hope the mulcher starts, since it’s been sitting for almost 2 years. Yeah, we kinda didn’t vac last fall. Oh, the shame.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/65f with a predicted high of 19c/66f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a great fucking beach day if you hate people. There probably isn’t anyone at the fucking beach today.” I disagree, it’s breezy out there but not too cool so probably a nice beach day for folks like me.
I hope so too, the costs are astronomical and constant I was there at 8am to help set up and left by 11am as I’d got an appointment with the hairdresser. To be honest, I’m not feeling that great today so by the time I left, I was glad to be going. There were some very cute puppers, they have agility competitions and various other dog show style classes so plenty of people brought their canine friends along!
I am sure there is something in the RDOS instructions that allows so much activity when it involves cake and icing!
That sounds worthy of a celebratory burger for breakfast!
Mooom I’m glad the family had a safe journey, and you managed to see the critters you’re feeding!
shoe hope you feel better by now!
I didn’t sleep very well last night, mainly due to being full of cold and snot, although I didn’t feel too bad when I got up at 6.30am. On a Saturday!! Anyway, did feline tums and bums, then had a cuppa and some toast before leaving the house. I was over at Di’s house by 7.45am, had a few minutes to fuss some of the rescue mogs before we loaded the last bits into our cars and headed off to the animal sanctuary.
We got everything set up and I stayed for a bit longer but had to leave for the hairdressers. I’ve been frou-frou’d, and am back home with a cuppa. I did offer to go back to Brockswood to help dismantle everything and pack it away but I’m kind of hoping they don’t need me because I’ve had enough of today. I know it’s just a cold but I feel pretty grotty. I think a couple of hours on the sofa with rubbish TV and plenty of tea will soon sort me out though!
Looking forward to your review - this looks really fun.
Odd thing. HomeDepot is blocked for me, but Lowe’s is not. I’ve never lived in a place with a screen door. I think when we replace our kitchen door we’ll make sure we get some sort of screen. The mosquitoes are bad, but the wasps are worse.
Been thinking about making a chocolate cake but last night I decided for carrot cake to use up some carrots. I could do both, and this isn’t helping me.
But it’s 29°C/84°C at the moment, so cake baking is for tomorrow morning, before it gets warm.
Grocery store has pumpkins, so it’s getting to be that time.
Sounds like a plan. Hope you recover for tomorrow.
My tummy issues are better, which is good. But I would have preferred doing colonoscopy prep - I would know when it’s over. And I would have remembered the vaseline sooner. Ouch.
Bought some different hamburger patties at Aldi and grilled them. We each ate a bite and decided they are not too our liking. The meat is ground really fine and there’s some sort of strange spices. Waste of money. Might make boxed mac and cheese later if we get hungry. Hubby had a yogurt.
Feel like I could do a nap, but I’m not much of a napper. We finally ordered some storage containers to organize the baking drawer. We had ants earlier this year, and I don’t want to repeat that debacle. I had put everything in a huge tupperware container, but it’s not ideal. Also, it had bee keeping the plastic lids under control, so now that drawer is disorganized.
That’s where we always gigged for them growing up. We did eat them though.
Ahhh, but What-A-Burger serves up some excellent breakfast choices. I had a bacon, egg and cheese burrito. The next time you’re in the southwestern or southern US, check one out.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, towels folded / put away, clothes in the dryer and Firday houseirk done. I’ll get sheveled later to go pick a prescription up and take the small beast to the dog park.
It’s always time for ice cream! How can you not know that???
Just back from helping BIL - he was all wound up about the electric bike he ordered and paying his VISA. I guess I’m more calming to him than FCD or MIL. He was also having problems resetting the password on his bank account - if you mess up 3 times, it blocks you out. So I did a reset for him on my phone and it’s all good now. Till the next time. He’s OK with technology as long as it doesn’t do something unexpected. We’ll see how long till he freaks out again.
So, FCD is in his shop, MIL is snoozing, and I just started the ice maker. I think I’ve earned some chillage.
When I wanted women to be screaming my name, it was not because they were bringing me stuff to clerk right when the drivers were leaving. But other than that, and the area around the 100 Slide being flooded and turned into a humid swamp, not a horrid day. Plus mad OT. I stopped at the pet store and the Likker Sto on the way home. It’s Saturday before a big holiday, and the ABC store was deserted at 11:30 in the morning. Did The Rapture happen or something? In any case, I got 2 days off, a bag of cat food and a fifth of Tanqueray, so me and Spot are gettin’ crunked on kibble and gin.

The Nihilists will be pleased.
I get the bag o’ frozen ones, and they are good. But I doubt our Aldis share a common beef supply.
