(Old) Meticulously Monday the MMP!

Home. Coached two games in 80F+ heat, then refereed one in 90F heat, then drove from one park to another to referee a fourth game in 94F heat…and that was just a bit to much. Fortunately another referee (younger) was present and took over the second half as I was feeling like I was going to pass out. Fluids and some time in the car’s AC had me feeling better, but I am home now and don’t plan on moving much, except to get more water and Pepsi. So of course now it’s all cloudy and possibly rainy outside…

Sensei, glad you all survived that, smoky clothes or not; that could so easily ended tragically.

FCM, I feel for Ziva, a nice calm life loudly interrupted by this…this…hound! And sometimes non-relatives (at least by blood) can get things done that brothers/sisters/uncles etc. can’t do; glad you were able to help out.

boo fae, hope the tea and rubbish TV did wonders for you.

It is always time for ice cream (I see FCM and I had the exact same thought). Glad tummy is feeling better.

Just be sure the right mammal gets the right stuff…

OK, need to get some more fluid into my system. Take care all.

I always thought crawdads lived in the creeks as well, things are different out here. Of course I spent some time asking google about them and it is the fresh water ones that are commercially farmed. I’m fairly sure that Harry’s crawdad patch is unique even out thisaway.

Can you close the door in her room? I know that always seemed to help our upset ones feel safer.

Our trees are starting to turn color as well, but the weather guessers say that is normal when the summer is hot.

We had a nice rain today, lots of thunder and lightning and then a steady rain for almost an hour. It’s going to take me the rest of my life to get tired of watching rain fall.

Which is why we aren’t beating the rescue up over Jolene. While we shouldn’t be paying for the re-spay and that very expensive ($300.00) blood test, we can probably afford it better than the rescue so we are going to do what we have to do.

I’m super worried about her recovery. We’ve never used E-collars on our cats after they were fixed. We kept our eyes on them, but none of them seemed to want to have any interest in pulling stitches out. I’ve already ordered a soft E-collar for Jolene because both of us are sure that if we are going to have a cat pull her stitches out…Jolene is going to be that cat.

We are also already worried about keeping her away from GG. While she controls the relationship and won’t want to play at first, once she is feeling better - probably dawn the next day - she will initiate a play session and he is big and enthusiastic.

I really do hope you are feeling better soonist. There are so many icky things going around nowadays.

At least you know that they know your name.

It’s been a quiet day so far. Hubs has been defending Sanctuary but then it got quiet and I went to check and saw that he was his other game…the post A-bomb one based in WV (Fallout?) I might want to download it again, I’m starting to learn my way around and I always get a dopamine hit when I see something in media that I’ve seen irl.

Well, hubs is feeding the cats so I’ll get dinner started in a few minutes. (Baked Tuscan Chicken with rice and and snap peas on the side and ice cream for desert)

Howdy Y’all! Also, WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! My DAWGS whomped up on some Kitty Kats from Clemson, South Keerliner up in Etlanner. Happy bear! Plus a good time was had by all who indulged in quality cee-mint pond time. Plus also, ribs and stuff got et up followed by some watermelon. A good time was had by all. However, I am glad for a quiet cave right now. I feel the need for some Netflix and chill.

BooFae indeed you deserve tea, sofa, trash teevee, and feline tums and bums the rest of the day. I agree, cake makeage should not endanger one’s RDOS license.

Dicey everyone knows there is no such thing as too much cake. Go ahead and make the chawklit one. Also, it is always time for ice cream.

rocker that there is some high class sloth! Makes me proud.

MetalMouse Spot was feral for almost fifteen minutes, so he gets gin and tonic to fight off the malaria and scurvy he might have gotten.

JtC I saw reports about the WVU and Penn State game in Morgantown bein’ delayed due to some fierce lightnin’ strikes. Hope it’s not that bad where you are.

I’ve got some beef going in the Instant pot. Gonna turn it into enchiladas once it’s done.

JtC Best wishes for Joline’s recovery. Is that her official name now?

No 'nip for the kitteh? You monster!

She spends the day as she usually does - under my side of the bed. And she did come out last night to poop, so that was good. She just didn’t venture out in the evening like she usually does. Two more nights and the beast will be gone.

We had pulled poke sliders for supper - quite yum.

Daughter and company will leave Alabammy mid-day tomorrow and drive home thru the mountains. I recommended I-75 to I-81 to I-64, then to Fredericksburg and home. It’s about 760 miles and should have some places to stop along the way. Dunno if she’ll take my suggestions. I know state roads will be more picturesque, but they only have so much time, so better to stick to the interstates and exit to see what they’d like to see. Anyway, it’s their call, obviously.

Hoping I get a good sleep tonight - I may sleep with Mel, tho I’m reluctant to be knocked out with MIL as confused as she’s been. FCD hardly slept, too. We’re all dragging. Maybe we all need Mel.

I’m envious. Our predicted rain hasn’t happened yet. The yard is dusty and the grass crunches under your feet when you walk. We really need the rain.

I DIYed a soft collar similar to that with a pool noodle and a piece of paracord when Nelson was having the itchies. It did keep him from digging at his booty.

I did some mending this afternoon, but will need another Saturday afternoon to finish up. I did get one pair of jeans mended, another hemmed and a pair of pajama pants halfway hemmed, so nothing but a pair of gym shorts and the remainder of the hemming to do.

I picked up some chicken tenders when I went to Tar-jay to pick up a prescription and had it and a salad for supper. I also picked up an oatmeal cookie for a later dessert.

After ordering it and forgetting about it for 2 months, I got my senior farmers market gift card of 50 dollars.
I have 3 weeks left to use it, there will be a lot of tomato and cuke salads!

I’ve been watering our posies and the grass is getting pretty brown. While I hope this won’t become a trend, we moved away from a 20 year drought and I’m seeing the same things here as back when the monsoons got so strange.

Which just goes to prove once again that you are much more clever than me!

We sent our hard plastic cone with GG when he got his whatits cut off, but we took it off as soon as he got home. We only had the collar because the vets would charge us for one if we didn’t have one, that was it’s only use. It served us well for almost 15 years. It didn’t make the move, I’m pretty sure TC friend has it now.

So, dinner was OK. I used some of the parm I carefully moved from there to here and the inconsistent temp and humidity levels must have must have been too much for it. That kinda sucks, but I know that parm is super picky so the lack of melty goodness in the sauce isn’t really that surprising.

I wish I had given it all to TC and NF, it was super awesome before the move.

Well, my belly is full of Fettuccine and Diet Pepsi so I feel much better now. Got about 2 hours of rain, nothing real heavy but a good soaking that will make the lawn happy. Temperature is down to 74F so have turned off the AC for the first time in a couple of weeks. Will probably hit the sack early tonight after a pretty full day of active.

JtC, hope it all works out for Jolene.

Heading off to bed sooner rather than later, so take care all.

We had prime rib at the Red River Café at the Silver Reef Casino last night. Huge slabs. Mine was rare, of course. My wife’s was medium rare. We were assured that the horseradish sauce was ‘raw’; but bizarrely, it tasted like it was mixed with mayonnaise. Weird, eh? We had leftovers for dinner tonight. I’d only brought home the roughly half-pound of meat. I had Beaver-brand extra-hot horseradish in the fridge, so I ate mine with that.

Dinner, with four drinks between us and a $20 tip, was under $106. We should go there more often. It was less expensive than our usual date nights.

Spot and I napped. I’m having a Sazarac while Spot is hunting something(a fruit fly? a mosquito? The ghost of Nikola Tesla?). Dinner is Asian BBQ stir fry tonight.

Spot does not like catnip. He seems to prefer Manhattans.

Glad you enjoyed eating Beaver tonight.

TBH, I prefer Manhattans to catnip too.

I thought his preferred tipple was gin.

Just now, when I took Nelson out, it was gently sprinkling. I hope that rain gets heavier and lasts all night.

Happy Saturday!

Thunderboomers this evening, and lots of rain.

No park this morning as my son is sick. He sounds awful. Probably just a cold, but he says he feels miserable.
I really wanted to go as Petey dad is having surgery on Toosday and won’t be back to the park for six weeks.

Not much else going on.

Thank you for posting this … because the other day I was trying to remember the name for those things (“tip of the tongue syndrome”) and was driving myself bonkers.

Way to bring out my inner teenaged brat. { stomps off, muttering “You ain’t the boss of me!” }

That’s very innovative. Raising livestock for the dinner table - it’s not just for cattle ranchers anymore!

YAAYYYY!! I totally missed roasting any pumpkin seeds for myself last autumn and was sad about it all winter. Must not let that happen again.

I love (my version of) home-roasted seeds.

Ha, me too, sorta - I didn’t get to bed till close to 5 a.m. last night, too! And woke at roughly 9 ish.

Got a short nap after several hours of being up - hopefully I’ll get a better version of my beauty rest tonight.

Yum.

Where’s mine?

I sorta parsed this as a “bacon SUB” and was like, sure, you can wrap pancakes around bacon and call it a sub sandwich, I guess. { shrug }

You probably have a knack for explaining things in a way that works particularly well for his brain.

Some people just “click” better with certain people’s explanations than others - maybe it’s the wording, maybe it’s the tone of voice - even when it’s the same information being given.

I laughed way harder at this than was dignified.

Didn’t you have her set up in a room with a closed door, when you 1st brought her home?

Just do that again. No reason to worry.

Are there still plans to get that hospital bed? IIRC they have rails to prevent falling, and illegal & unlicensed unassisted excursions …

That’s friggin’ genius.

NICE!

Do you have the means to freeze some of your produce, to have for later, leaner, times?

Or, if you need a new hobby for all that free time, I hear home-canning can be quite rewarding …

Other than misbehaving in the sauce, may I ask what happened to your cheese?

My favorite thing about parm is the little crunchy crystals … did it lose those?

Some of us are under the weather, some of us are improving … and so it goes, 'round and 'round.

Bravo!

I don’t think I’ve ever had a Manhattan, but Monks sure seems to enjoy his 'nip.

Now I have double-FOMO.

Forgive me if I’m forgetting some logistics with your household, but couldn’t you just go without him, while he sleeps through his misery?

Found the 1st fallen acorn today. Autumn. Is. Coming.

Yay!

(What? No “acorn” emoji?)

Today was Sweet Manager’s birthday (and she’s working open → close tonight!) so there were many sugary treats, to round out the several “ooops!” pizzas that made their way to the break table.

Among other things, some Oreo popcorn (?? didn’t get around to trying that, although I was curious) and a pan of caramel swirled brownies in a pretzel crust that I swear gave me diabetes just looking at it.

Nevertheless, I brought home a tiny - I mean, about 2 Tbs portion - of the brownie, to give myself the full-blown diabeetus try later tonight.

In healthier eatin’ news, someone also made for her what has apparently become something of a birthday tradition between them (I remember it from last year) and it’s a … raw veggie “pizza.”

The crust is (shhh!) Pillsbury - they apparently make a version of their whomp croissants in an unperforated full-sheet form, for applications precisely such as this - baked, cooled, then smeared with cream cheese & covered with very finely diced raw veg of all kinds: red peppers, radish, carrots, broccoli, etc. Served chilled.

Probably the healthiest thing I’ll eat all year, and quite tasty even to this dedicated non-herbivore.

Alright, time to abandon you lovely folks to your fate kill some zombies rustle up some sort of food for the house panther, approx. 43,892 soft-furred ratties, and, eventually, I suppose, me.

ETA I forgot a vaguely-funny to share … this is probably only funny to math nerds.

Had an order that included beef fries (a.k.a. steak nuggets) with an extra packet of A-1 sauce to go along with what’s automatically included.

To mark the bag, we write:

BF + 1x A-1

… and tell me that doesn’t look like the most psychotic algebra.

(Ms. Wormwood: “Solve for ‘F’ please.”)

I gotta say walnuts hutting the AC is quite disorienting when you’re asleep. It is walnut drop time here.

And can I add, everything cooked in an instant pot tastes metalic. I thought I had a good idea, but it tasted like metal.

G’night y’all. Take care.

Beer is being consumed, and I’m watching F1 Quali. Life is good.

Well, if you were closer, I could cure your FOMO.

Wel, somebody keeps drinking mu gin, so I’m blaming the fat guy in a tux.

“Your boyfriend left you for your X? Y?”

Your words say one thing; your typos say another.

But you do have my sympathy.

Someone keeps breaking into my house and smoking all my weed. Doesn’t even have the decency to put away any laundry or wash a few dishes, never mind scrubbing the bathroom. Lazy bitch asshole.

Can’t blame the snakes; without opposable thumbs, they can’t work a lighter.

Now, Monkey, on the other hand, has so many bonus thumbs, he could do movie reviews. (“I give this one … four thumbs up, plus some extra toes off my back feet!”)

Guess we know who’s to blame.

:musical_note: Naw, naw, naw, it ain’t me, babe
I ain’t the one you’re lookin’ for … babe … :notes:

HA!!! I’d have never seen that.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 and N.O.S. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization, wherein I have Chalice duty. This will be followed by first Sunday brunch (gotta bake some beans here shortly) which will be followed by a Liturgy and Music Committee meetin’. After all that, the rest of the day shall be devoted to nappage and other high RDOS inactivities. OYKW is in charge of haulin’ baked beans, a cake, and a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea over to the church house. How he suffers for first Sunday brunch!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization plus bean bakeage muse ensue.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

We have the hospital bed, but it only has half rails and she can scoot down past them. Really, it’s more for when she can’t get out of bed - we can raise it to a height so we’re not on our knees trying to help her. (She’s very short and the bed is at its lowest setting - as her regular bed was, sitting on the floor sans frame.) Right now what helps most is that she sleep close to 20 of every 24 hours. Even when she’s out of bed, she’s sleeping in her recliner or on the couch.

I will be glad when Trevor goes home tomorrow. Besides being a trip hazard (I almost fell over him in the kitchen this morning) he’s also got Ziva freaked out. She pooped in our bedroom last night. Luckily, I saw it before stepping in it. That makes me wonder if she peed somewhere in there, too. Dammit.

I can’t take him home to wait for them tomorrow because their place is such a wreck, I would have to clean the living room to find space for the crate. Honest to goodness, I don’t know how they live like that! There’s no excuse other than lazy - groceries not put away, laundry not put away, kids’ toys not put away, sink full of dishes… I’m no Suzy Homemaker, but even I have my limits (I did finally dust this week!) Anyway, I have to wait for them to get home then to come here to fetch the dog and his crate.

No plans for the day. There’s a good (80%) chance of t-boomers this afternoon and evening. I think I picked the last of the 'maters yesterday, so I suppose I could just yank up the plants and cover the garden in black plastic so any future weeds bake and die. Maybe I’ll send FCD to Lowe’s for a roll of plastic.

Turns out Tobias lurves guac! They had supper at a place called Moe’s and Daughter sent me pics of Tobias scooping out green dip with chips. That kid would rather eat fruit than candy - good for him!!

And so begins my day. And it’s September already!! I need to give Higgs her heartworm meds and her flea meds. Thank goodness for Outlook reminders - it’s my auxiliary brain. How did people live without Outlook??

Happy Sunday!!
