It’s taken me years to be able to see and hear thunderstorms without wanting to crawl under the bed. A bit of PTSD conquered at last. Best thing was that we weren’t part of the city that lost power (and A/C).
Washed Miss Piggy this morning. The bug goo on the windshield was particularly stubborn. Next up: change out the shower curtain!
We have a big yard and chasing balls and sticks will be the order of the days, assuming it doesn’t rain.
I organized the walk-in storage closet in the basement, tossed some stuff, and found enough room for the excess bedding. I do have 2 memory foam mattress pads to roll up and bag - that’ll be fun. Then I unpacked the remains of MIL’s Wedgwood china to take an inventory. Only 3 pieces cracked in this move, and they may well have been cracked when I packed them - I discarded the obviously broken pieces in Ocala.
Of the service for 12 that FIL bought almost 70 years ago, very little remains. There are 12 demi-tasse cups and saucers, 12 bowls with handles (dessert dishes?) but only 7 dinner plates and only 2 teacup saucers. Plus other pieces. Anyway, I sent off to Replacements dot com to see what it’s all worth. FCD doesn’t want to get rid of it till his mom dies, but it won’t hurt to ask the question now. I can begin to package it if they’ll accept the pieces for sale. So we’ll see. In the 40 years I’ve been part of this family, I think I ate off it once. Many pieces broke during their many moves over the years - at least 5 moves that I know of personally.
i don’t believe they ever outgrow cheese. my 2 go crazy for cheddar, and koritza has a special love of parmesan and mozzarella, she was on the street near a pizza place.
at 16 they both will go nutso for yummy bits. i must hit all their favourites lunch meat, chicken, salmon, tuna.
Afternoon all. Have had First Meal and now need to go to the gym to exercise some of it off. Have actually vacuumed my living room and also took care of some soccer paperwork (I am the Safety Coordinator, which means any incident reports come through me for routing; in this case I had to write up two reports from this weekend).
And yeah, dogs and cheese are always a thing.
FCM, hopefully someone will want the complete portions of the set, I’m still using my old Wal-Mart plates and at the current rate they’ll last me another 15 years (now all I have to do is last another 15 years…).
Cookie, glad you can appreciate T-storms again; I can remember my early years (we’re talking single digits now) watching lightning and hearing the accompanying thunder while sitting on my porch (the storms were at a distance) and just being awed. Now it’s more likely that I’ll greet them with ‘hope the power doesn’t go out’ or ‘how wet will I be if I get out of the car now and make a dash for it?’
Glad to know you’re doing well, JtC. And I tried to replace my doorbell, failed miserably, and so if you don’t knock, I won’t be answering.
Well, that bicycle isn’t getting pedaled to nowhere with me sitting here. Take care all.
So I got sent over to the 100 and 200 Slides to help clean up halfway through the shift. and I’ll be on the 200 all week, covering for the senior clerk. And I’ll be transferring over from Smalls to the Outbound(Slides n’ Tables), possibly due to the new Preload head asking “Why is the guy who can do it all just dumping bags of Temu crap down a slide?”. But I did my Aldi run, now it’s naptime.
If you only had to deal with half of the work crap you do, you be justified in a screaming meltdown at the SD, MPA, etc.
the cats and i have been known to spend quality time in the closet away from the windows. twice we went to a protected part of the building during tornado warnings.
my building doesn’t have lightening rods and sometimes get hit. bricks go flying.
Put batteries in both pieces. Pull the tape off the stickim on the back of the part with the button and stick it to your door or wherever. Put the other piece somewhere out of the way but easy to get to when the batteries wear down.
Done.
You can also play around with the tones and volume, but it really was that easy.
I still have most of the Corelle I bought when I was in the service. A few pieces got lost or broken over the 49 years since but we don’t need place settings for 12 anyhow.
Is there any hope of a raise?
Its a common side effect of my daily blood pressure pill. I usually fix it by eating prepared and fast food for a few days before my blood draw, I just forgot this time.
Hubs is taking Jolene to the vet for her urine test as I type. Everyone is tired of me stuffing icky stuff in her mouth, but she did miss her morning after-med treat.
Well, I figured out why I wasn’t getting the code to access my credit card account at the credit union - it was going to my junk mail folder and I didn’t notice. Dammit. It’s working fine now and I added the sender to the safe list.
I have a sinus infection brewing. It’s very common for me to get one when it’s ungodly hot outside which it is today. I’m tired. My glands are swollen and my throat is itchy. Fortunately, I have emergency vaccine back up amoxicillin.
Howdy Y’all! Laundy got laundered and put where it lives until it gets dirty again. It clouded up, so we decided to forego quality cee-mint pond time. Nappage and day drinkin’ were accomplished, however. Also, leftovers got et up.
Sunday the Bishop mentioned durin’ his sermon that NP is a UGA graduate and then said "GO DAWGS!) I showed incredible restraint and uttered only one under the breath “WOOF!” which got the acolyte sittin’ next to me a little bit tickled. It could have been worse. The proper resonse to GO DAWGS! is WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!
MOOOOOOM it’s gettin’ near college football season, so most likely I was barkin’ in my sleep.
Taters good for you for standin’ up and not lettin’ someone take credit for your work! Hope Buster and Maisie do well with the surgery and recovery.
Cookie cool video with both the rainbow and the lightnin’!
JtC, you live in a cold enough climate now that you’ll want to drain your pipes to the outside spigots, so the car wash is your best option.
I hope that your MPA gets her head out of her butt taters.
Here’s wishing you a better second time around with GC shoe.
They’re not necessarily for knowing who your callers are (although that’s nice sometimes), but to have pics in the event of porch pirates or others up to no good.
cookie, that was an awesome light show.
My work station had been moved when I got to irk today (it was planned). Other than being a bit cramped, I think it will work out.
I got word Sunday evening that one of my fellow volunteers in a couple of originations had passed. It was quite the shock, given that she was only about 35 and had no big health issues. Her cause of death hasn’t been mentioned, but I have some suspicions. She was a wonderful human being and a great friend to animals.
It hit triple digits today for the second day in a row and is slated to do so for the next two days. At least the humidity isn’t awful.
The guy I mentioned in a post up there ( or the last in last weeks mump) been texting me today.
I’m gonna refer to him as alex after mr. Jones.
I just hope he listened to my text of Thai Rivera you tubelike I listened to his of Candace Owens.
Thai is funny and insightful.
Not sure why hes now talking with me now that I visited his church.
I had asked him Sunday why he never replied to my texts.
Seems he had me blocked.
He unblocked me, obviously.
Why was I blocked? I stuck up for Hunter.
Anyhoo, supper was salad.
I swear, I’m going to duct tape that woman to her chair. Rather thsn ask, she went to get a cup of ice. Then she dropped it on the kitchen floor and was going to pick it up and eat it. The floor that just yesterday had 2 dogs running back and forth. Not to mention that bending over often leads her to fall.
She won’t listen to us. She won’t listen to the nurses. Stubborn!!!
Evening all. Exercise was done and soccer practiced, dinner has been ingested and is now happily assimilating in my belly, and a quiet night is expected. Tomorrow will do a little banking and stuff, it’s the only day save Sunday I don’t have soccer practice or games going on, so at least the time pressure will be minimal. Temperature has dipped below 89F, so sleepage should be relatively comfortable.
doggio, not exactly a promotion, but at least a little ego boost (now if they’d boost your paycheck…)
rocky, nasty weather, be safe.
JtC, red, I will consider it. As for the Ring idea, just don’t have that many packages, they usually are small enough to go in my mailbox and I have a recessed doorway, so not that critical. And living at the end of a cul-de-sac tends to keep visitors down.
FCM, have occasionally called my junk mail folder something a bit stronger than stupid…something Samuel Jackson level… Have a good rest.
I napped.
< someone knocks on neighbor’s door >
Spot: “ACK! PEOPLE!” < flees for hiding place >
But now I’m up, and channeling my inner Godzilla by consuming Manhattan.
[Carl Spackler]Oh, there’ll be no money, but on your deathbed you’ll receive perfect conciousness. So I got that going for me. which is nice.[/CS]
No raise, but I won’t have to buy as much clothing to replace the stuff the belt and bags tear up, so I will be spending less.
Well, 1. Rate is set by the CBA. 2. I make pretty much full time money on a “part time” job, so I’m not hurting(except when Spot drinks all my gin).
Damn cats growing thumbs and learning how to pour.
My trip to the doc did not provide a magic pill, but I’ve got some more antibiotics. I’m supposed to go for a blood test, but the whole no insurance thing… Only so much in the bank, and gotta take the truck in for oil and yearly inspection.
Goo had her gooshy fud. I gave her some of my pork chop. I let her clean my cottage cheese bowl. And still she had to eat a moth. (Good hunting, though! (She missed the second flitty bug.))
