(Old) Meticulously Monday the MMP!

She must’ve been related to my late mother. Hang in there. :people_hugging:

Lucky me. Nelson’s strictly a trophy hunter (June bugs, and this year, cicadas are his preferred prey).

I’m sorry about your uncle shady. Hope there’s not too much drama.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. I’s tahred!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Well, you all are a quiet bunch this evening. I may pull a swampy and talk to myself. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just finished up a couple of thank you cards.

Oh, no, it’s 120% PEBKAC. We get 1-2 dozen online orders a day with no problem.

It was just this one person, who clicked “NO” on all the things. Until it was explained that this was not a necessary step.

You want a pepperoni pizza? Pick your size, and click pepperoni. No need to spend your time - and our ink & paper - to click “NO” on all the random shit you don’t want.

We’re not gonna put anchovies on your pizza unless you ASK for it.

You don’t hafta click “no” to the dozen appetizers you don’t want, and you don’t hafta say you don’t want fried chicken or ribs (yes, we have both, and they are delishush) when you’re just. ordering. a. small. pepperoni.

Online ordering. Hell, phone ordering. Ask for what you want. If it’s not an allergy situation, we don’t care what you don’t want.

And a good early evening to all. Did my banking and stopped at Aldi’s just to browse, ours is pretty small and didn’t have a lot of stuff I needed, did get some Saltine crackers and pickles, but will do the major shopping at Kroger on Firday. No pressure to get my swimming done in time for soccer, so eased into it and managed my 1.5 miles, but feeling it now. Garbage has been taken to the curb for tomorrow’s pickup and once I fix my Cheeburger, sloth should rule the remainder of the evening. At 6pm the local weather is saying it’s 97F outside, so probably a good thing there is no soccer practice today.

FCM, I’m happy you love boating, I would be ready to play “U-Boat” about now… And maybe that rug is just what the Big Boat owner is looking for, ya never know..

flyboy,   Weather does that too often, looks like the end of the world for a few moments and then it is over and clear.

shady, condolences on your uncle passing. Hope the family behaves for once…

Cookie, {{{ hugs }}} and understanding.

Dicey, I haven’t been to an amusement park in ages, first I was too big (near 300lbs) for many of the coasters and working with Fall and Spring soccer, my only chances to go was during the busiest season of the year and standing in 45-minute lines just ain’t my thing anymore. But one of these days… Hope the stomach settles down soon.

Oopsie, that was a pretty full day.

SHHHHHH!!! Don’t let Murphy hear you!!!

I’ve never read either of those, am working my way through the Science Fiction Hall of Fame Vol II (I’m sure Vol I is hanging around somewhere in my sticks) from 1973. Some pretty good stuff there.

red, give us a chance, it’s around dinner time. And with Pilot, BBBoo, and Nettie taking breaks, we’re missing three pretty prolific posters presently.

OK, need to see if the cheeseburger has thawed out and get some protein moving into my system. Have a good evening all.

I guess that’s a plus, but don’t you get your work clothes at thrift stores? That’s where I got all of my work clothes when I was tossing boxes around.

Have you checked into low income medical insurance? Assuming you pay taxes, you can use the numbers off your last return to check your eligibility online. Back when I was a food stamp lady, state medical was easier to get than food stamps but of course things have changed since then.

I used to sit behind those idiots at drive-thrus. They refuse to die from dagger eyes to the back of the head too. In retrospect, that’s probably a good thing because then they would never get out of the way!!!

I haven’t opened a can of tuna since Jolene moved in but as staaaaarving as she was with the canned chicken I’m going to confidently predict that she will be a total PITA.

Now why didn’t you do that earlier? Nobody would have had to pull over and the drive would have been so much quieter. Geeze!!!

Do you remember getting plates and glasses when you filled your tank? Dad drank out of Mobile Oil coffee cups until he died because he got one every time he filled a company truck (every day) and had boxes of them in the garage.

I remember when PTSD was deemed to be a sign of cowardliness and deserving of a slap “Get a hold of yourself, Marine!” when someone just couldn’t take it anymore.

One of my sisters had a nope rope phobia and the sister I don’t get along with used to catch nope ropes to scare phobic sister. I got in so much trouble over that because I’d fight with jerk sister over scaring sister and potentially getting the nope rope killed. Grrrrs on your behalf.

Thank you. It is possible that I won’t need to worry about the sodium now that I’m not drinking a gallon of water a day.

Yes. This. I always look at the menu online so I can know just what we want.

Here’s hoping they actually listened.

We went to a new place for lunch and I got the best taco I’ve had since we moved here. (except for the ones I make, of course). While that wasn’t saying much, it made me think that their pizza might be better than we are getting. I asked about the ingredients for their white pizza and then asked for a card with their website. The young person brought me a paper menu and pointed at the number because she thought that ordering online would be too complicated.

Wait staff are not paid a lower min wage than anyone else in this state. Not like AZ where they got less than three bucks an hour. I felt no shame about not letting Hubs tip her (he always pays) after she said that.

How’s that going, you haven’t said anything about it in a while. I don’t have any regrets about my ink, but Hubs is thinking about having one piece of his removed. It was a cover-up and didn’t age nearly as well as the rest of them.

Back when I stared driving (and smoking) gas and cigs were both 1.89. Given up the smoking, but the driving is still required.

JtC I’m frankly surprised that WV has laws that wait-people actually get minimum wage or better. They don’t up here in NY. I think it’s criminal that people need to depend on tips. Although I have some friends in the bar/restaurant industry that make a damn good living.

Ok, some dinner type things must happen.

Stay safe, y’all.

Es hat gut geschmeckt. It tasted so good, I had it for dinner again tonight. Only, I only had two slices of tomato instead of three or four… so I had a whole Hass avocado with it.

Did you know that WV split off from Virginia during the civil war to join the Union? Kindness is important to folks out thisaway.

I do agree that the tipping culture is horrible. Young people can make bank waiting tables but they don’t understand that they should invest. Then comes the day that youth fades away and those trays of food get heavy but they don’t have a plan B for their future. I talked to so many of them while I was a food stamp worker, it was very sad.

I might be getting a little political here. Changes subject.

For folks who live places when winters get cold and snowy, how much food you keep at hand. I’m thinking that we are RDOS who shouldn’t need to go out before the roads are clear. How much food should we have on hand? I’m thinking a month’s worth would be good. We have the upright freezer for meat and frozen veggies and the pantry cabinets for dry and canned.

I’m not prepping for the zombie apocalypse but I don’t want to be driving in the snow to buy a can of black beans either.

Howdy!

Yay, Taters! Great job standing up for yourself.

{{{shady}}}

Shoe, when MusicMan and I were dating, the final breakthrough/turning point was when I asked him (nicely) not to hold against me the things that his exes had done.

I’m sure I had more to say, but I’ve forgotten after reading 50,000 MMP posts!

It’s been crazy here as usual. I officially got a 1 day per week teaching job. But I also just applied for a full-time teaching job in a scenario which I’ve enjoyed in the past. The catch is that they are about a 40 minute drive from home. However, we shall see…

So Alex called me yesterday and said he was going to the buffet today and would I come with.
(He had seen me on the bus a year ago and invited me. When I had said it was too spensive, he paid half.)
So I met him there, we stayed 4 hours.
I am certain I gained a pound.
No supper tonight.

Had a chill day, just wanted to run a coupla quick errands and otherwise enjoy my Blessed Day Off.

Guess whose car’s battery won’t start?

That’s gonna be fun. And spendy.

{ * many very non-MPSIMS words* }

I think what I said was, roughly, “Aw, man. You got burned. That sucks. But I don’t like to pay for other people’s mistakes.”

I napped. Or at least as close to napping as you can get when your cat is dreaming and playing the drum solo for “Hot For Teacher” with all four paws on your head. I’m having a martini, and chicken with cavatappi for dinner.

Some of us hide in the coffinnap in a dark room til the burning sky orb disappears.

O’Toole’s Commentary on Murphy’s Law: “Murphy was an optimist.”

Pants from Da Jungle, shirts from JiffyShirts.com. Dark colors, and identical(I like to save my brain power for fixing screwups and deciding which cocktail to make on Tiki Thursdays).

That should work.

Well, you can never have too much ammo, gin, or canned corn when the walkers show up.

Eating a bowl of strawberries!
No rain tonight so I’m happy.

I’ve lived in the northeast for most of my life. The longest I’ve been snowed in is 2 days. Mostly cuz I’m lazy and didn’t want to shovel the drive. You’re in the south, as we yankees would call it. You’re not going to be stranded for more than a day.

Way back when, pre-pandemic times, I was about to start a thread of “how long could you survive on what you’ve got in the freezer/pantry?” Never did start that. Right now I’m at about 2 months. But I’ll be pretty tired of noodles by the end. But I’d run out of booze waaaay before that.

We gots the gin and ammo covered, but you forgot about the Spam! The Food Lion here has Underwood Deviled Chicken and that is such a blast from the past. Puts a few cans on the prepper list.

I made hubs get rid of our tent and sleeping bags when we moved here but let him keep the camping stove.

I didn’t think we would ever be snowed in, not here. We are only a couple of blocks from the river and are on a main road. I just don’t want to have to deal with sloppy driving conditions if we don’t have to.

Running out of booze could be an issue, I’ll put that on our list as well. Hubs chose to give all of our booze to TC friend when we left so he had room for the liquid spices (tobasco, malt vinegar, cooking wine, etc) That wasn’t the decision I would have made, but I wasn’t there at the time.

We used to have all sorts of shelf stable food. Noodles and Spam and tuna and all of that sort of stuff that preppers buy but don’t really want to eat.

Now that it is gone, I’ll be buying things we do want to eat without worrying about Zombies.

Zombies have no chance against WV drivers, ain’t a one of them going to make it a mile down the interstate.

Happy Hump Day!

No park today as my son had a full shift last night. He’s hot and tired when he gets out.
I saw Lily mom there, she’s my son’s way up there boss, and he is expected to have OT this week and next. So much for some time off for the holiday, but the paychecks should be nice.

Misiu has been extra snuggly since he got bit in the face.

We have thunder and lightning now, but no rain.

The corn harvesting started today.

I’m way behind in reading, will try to catch up

ketchup!

I’m going to be spotty here this week.

A major typhoon is in the south of Japan and SenBoss has a business trip to Tokyo. Originally, the typhoon was moving fast enough that we were concerned if her flight for today would be cancelled so she went yesterday. It’s slowed down so it looks like she’s fine.

It looks like Kyushu will take a beating with over a meter of rain (53") expected in the next 48 hours. With winds of up to 252 km/h (157 mph), strong enough to destroy homes.

SenBoy left this morning on a school camping trip, leaving me with a sick SenGirl.

Lots of things to do. Later.

If I saw those on the shelf, I would probably buy it, just to try. I haven’t made crepes for a long time - the last time I had one was at the Christmas market in 2023.

Beautiful!

Do you have a generator and/or an alternative source of heat? A month is probably more than enough.

That’s good!

Woke up to use the bathroom. Belly’s getting much better, but now my brain’s is on spin. Got new tasks from work, but still have other ones to finish, plus we’re going on vacation in two weeks and hubby got a new dosage (BP med) to try. I should be sleeping, but I have to get up in 35 minutes anyway, so I came out to the living room to finish the post I started earlier.

Let’s see. It’s Thursday (first I typed Tuesday). Need vacation. But post vacation is going to be interesting times.

Can I just say, I love checking in with you all before heading to bed. I  my imaginary internet friends.
