ooooh, i’m so sorry. what a beautiful good girl.
So sorry, cookie. You gave her a good life. Very gorgeous kitty.
Sorry for your loss, Cookie.
{{{Cookie}}}. Another awaiting feline at the Rainbow Bridge.
MG, glad you’re doing better. Take care.
VanGO, is it time for music yet? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK7P4Sgomtw
FCM, have had a few adventures like that with the bank, but never with that much security; wonder if something happened there that has them touchy…
Sticky Buns, had never heard of a Nissan Kicks before, had to look it up. Seems like a nice vehicle, hope it meets your and Music Man’s needs.
Hey, my old town (from 1965-1997)!!
Sari, I remember Seinfeld and the “Soup nazi”. This sounds like the “Appointment Nazi” (“20 minutes early? You’re Late!! No pill for you!!!”). And I get notes from the Dodge dealership inquiring after my 2017 Durango about every 4-6 months.
Taters, that’s the way to do it. Do what you feel like and as soon as it starts to become a chore (or a duty in your mind), put the phone down and turn it off!!
That’s right, pick on the old Luddite. Thing is I am still not in the habit of keeping my Cell phone on all the time and my landline number is registered at so many places/sites that it would be a major pain to re-vamp them all. So in this case I think I’ll stay in the 20th century, thank you.
Shopping and Banking is done and probably will head off to swimming shortly; may go easy on it, having less sleep that usual is cutting into my ambition. Take care all.

Such a gorgeous, sweet kitty. I am so sorry for your loss.
Indeed. It never gets easier, but your consolation is knowing you did right by her.
Goodbye, Q’itih.
I was planning on making buttermilk cornbread but when I went to the sto, all they had was cornmeal mix. I spent a good ten minutes searching the aisle for plain cornmeal or corn flour and then found a sto employee who took me back and pointed at the cornmeal mix. That certainly ghasted my flabber, I can’t imagine folks out here don’t make their own cornbread from scratch.
(It isn’t the same, it has white flour, salt, sugar and rising agents added and we don’t like corncake.)
So, bacon and whomp croissants will be baked, potatoes will be boiled, grated and fried while omelets are cooking.
That should allow me to see how everything works with high heat and after clean up I will put 5 gallons of cold water on low to see how long it takes to bring it to 87F. I’ll probably try this with both the big and small burners to see how well I can control the low heat. Rennet dies if you get it too hot too fast and it is super easy to bring liquids to 140F which is basically boiled where milk is concerned.
It looks like having the windows replaced isn’t going to be as spendy as we thought it would be, which is good because our kitchen was fucking expensive. The contractor today said that the job would take two days so I checked with the Best Western down the road and they allow pets. I will stop in tomorrow and find out if cats are considered to be pets and if they rent to locals.
We can take the fuzzbutts there and one of us can hang out in the quiet with them while the other is listening to the banging while making sure that the work crew doesn’t make off with our brand new oven.
Bella is much improved and has been playing chase chase with GG. (first they go by with one cat in the lead and next they go the other way with the other cat in the lead) Bella has also finished her pain meds so that is one less pill we have to give her.
Debby hasn’t done anything today and the weather guessers are now saying that she will totally miss us. It hasn’t rained in almost a week and Hubs has started fretting about the grass looking stressed. This is the same man who liked having a front yard that looked like a c-store parking lot.
I haven’t read forward, but that sure sounds like your phone battery is giving up the ghost. I hope that whatever it is is easy and inexpensive.
Every time I’ve had an appliance die, I’ve always thought “l can live without it for a little bit until we can have it replaced.” I’ve always been wrong, not having tools you use daily just sucks. I hope this gets resolved in the next few days.
I’m glad. I’ve not had it but always sympathize with folks who have cause I understand it kinda sucks. Get better soon!
I’m so sorry Cookie. She sure was a pretty lady.
Cookie, I’m very sorry, and it sounds like you did the right thing for Q’itih. It’s always hard, though.
JtC, I’m glad Bella is on the mend.
I’m consuming a very nice gazpacho I made last night. AQI isn’t great so I plan to stay inside, mostly. I did go to my morning writing group and will hit a Fred Meyer later since we have guests coming in on Sunday. Guess that means we need to mop/vacuum/scrub and remove anything unidentifiable from the fridge.
Ratties got crunchy dog treats (high protein & they love gnawing) & refilled water bottles, plus some pasta to round it out, so they’re making quite the rattle. Pretzel’s water bowl is refilled, as is Monkey’s. He got some outside time, and as a reward for being oh so handsome and soft and snuggly coming right back when called in, got some Squeezy-crack.
I’m having some quick nuked dumplings from the Dollar Sto’ (don’t judge!) and have a sammich stashed in the freezer at work with my name on it so it better still be there.
I had a pretty sunflower blooming (pictured on Book O’ Faces) but something either sat on it & knocked it over, or else chewed through the stalk. I blame the local fat squirrels.
Bah.
Gardening is a lot of unexpected success (“that came back?”) plus unexpected failures and heartbreak.
… though I guess that describes most of life, too.
It’s nice and cool today. Sunset is getting noticeably earlier, just a bit, each night.
Off to Long Night shift.
3.13 miles, 59:17, 3.17 mph. And that’s with stopping to give someone directions, and slowing down to wave at someone on the other side of the street.
JtC My experience with my new stove is that the big burners really can’t get down to simmer. Gotta use the little ones for that. Gas range, might be different with electric.
Wise words, my friend.
Can’t answer for our favorite rodent, but in my case I kind of need it for the security gate into the complex (when someone punches in our code, it rings our phone and we have to push a button on the phone to let them in). Hmmmm, wonder if that’s advanced any in the twelve years we’ve lived here and maybe we don’t need the landline any more? Probably should ask the office about that.

You may have to stoop to online sources. Amazon carries a variety of plain cornmeals.
Howdy Y’all! ‘Tis been a very RDOS day here. Some quality cee-mint pond time this mornin’, but back in da cave before noon due to hawt. Shower, sammich, and nappage then occured. Then we commenced with day drinkin’. Majik intartoobz pizza and sallit have been consumed. Netflix, chill, and popcorn comin’ up in a bit.
Hope all you in Little Debbie’s path are safe and don’t get flooded.
{{{Cookie}}} I am so sorry for your loss! Q’itih and a great and much loved life cause of you amd the missus.

We have a system like that, and it does indeed work with cell phones.
ac was fixed last night so no melting and also cookie sorry about the kitty … my kitty passed 3 years ago and shes still missed
be back later …

Q’itih: 2010-2024. Frolic in peace, sweet girl.
I’m so sorry cookie. She was a beautiful cat. Hugs to you and your wife.

When I’ve entered gated communities in the last decade, the gate rings them on their cell. Of course, YMMV.

Yay! You didn’t melt.
When I vacuumed today, I had to do something that I haven’t done since Nelson was but a wee puppy: I had to put his toy box on the dryer. The little brat kept pulling out toys as fast as I could put them back.
The house is cleaneded, laundry done, groceries bought and suppper et. I think that I’ll chill in the studio some.
I HAVE A WORKING KITCHEN!!!
and I am so stinkin’ happy!!!
Huzzah!
First week of the new job (Doggy Daycare) is going amazingly well so far. I’ve had four shadow shifts with this kid who is right on the ball. He’s a college student and he does dog training on the side. Other than that it’s a bit of sit-com of cow-orkers. I can’t wait to get to know the better - for good or bad.
Three of the shifts I’ve had were with the big dogs and today I got to wrangle the little guys. I thought I would like the big guys better, but I had a blast today. There were some absolutely adorable little sweeties in there. At one point this shy little dog comes to me to be petted and my trainer-guy said, “Did she just come up to you?” “Yeah.” “Cool. She won’t do that with me.” Made me feel good. There were two little troublemakers who wouldn’t leave a puppy alone - kept trying to hump him. Problem was, the puppy didn’t seem to mind, so it became an exercise in watching out for those two little shits.
Anyway, I don’t really think he’s yanking my chain when my trainer tells me I’m a natural and I’m the best hire they’ve had since he’s been there - he’s said it in front of others, so … so far so pretty fucking good.
