(Old) Motion To Vacat(ion)- An Off Work MMP

Morning all. Got my 8 hours of sack time, so hopefully will be alert (because America needs its lerts…). Nothing much on the agenda, it is a bit cooler (72F now heading for 86F) that some other days, so might go out to the soccer fields and then the gym to get my daily dose of exercise. Got my U9 team roster, so need to contact the parents regarding practice and stuff. Otherwise sloth will rule the roost.

JtC, five bids seems a bit excessive, but Hubs does Hubs so best of luck.

Thanks for the morning grin.

shoe, 42 of any pizzas is a major-league order, but a high school football team could probably handle it.

FCM, good luck with the car shopping.

And onward into the weekend!

Good morning.

It’s 60F and cloudy. Most of the morning will be cloudy to partly cloudy, but the sun is expected to break out around 10:00 a.m. Our expected high temperature is 84F.

Cookie, I’m so sorry about your kitty.

FCM, best of luck with the car look-see.

J-Bats, I’m glad you found some enjoyable employment.

Shoe, forty-two pizzas! Wow! I’m glad the shift went smoothly.

JtC, yay for functioning kitchens!

The oven guy came and replaced the oven element. It was definitely the element. There were little blown-out holes all over the element and a spot where it had broken and then melded back together.

Anyway, yay for properly working ovens, even though it’s still slow to preheat. It’s electric, so it’s just slower.

Metal Mouse, we dropped the landline years ago. I stubbornly held on to it for a while because it seemed to work when the cell service was spotty or non-existent, like after the big Nisqually earthquake. Nisqually earthquake But after a while, cell service improved, and quite frankly, I was just sick of the extra expense—just another bill to pay.

My husband wants to go to the park again, but I’m unsure if I want to do it today. I prefer to wait until a weekday when it’s less likely to be crowded.

Other than that, I have some laundry to do, and I should also get the lawn mowed. It’s looking a little shaggy.

Time for another cup of coffee.

Are you mixing your sports up, sir?

Pot (snerk!) pie in the oven. Wish I’d thought to start it right when I first woke up, as Mr. Sandman seems to have visited already but I’m way too hungry to sleep.

Refilled the rats’ water bottles and threw some brown rice through their screens. Envy them their glamorous days!

It’s still quite cool (mid 60s!) and quite breezy - my kinda weather, if a bit on the bright side. However, I do not know how to garden in this climate - do I start the cool-weather stuff already?

(I think I know the answer … )

Cookie I’m very sorry about Q’itih. They sure leave a hole in our hearts.

Yay!

I envy you!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, have built a nice Waldorf chicken salad for supper and fixing to do KP.

Not a whole lot going on today, but I think that we’ll hit the dog park and I may make a grocery outlet run.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Jtc huzzah! On the kitchen. Enjoy!

Jbats great job! So jealous.

I braved the shopping trip today. Three of us were at target for pickup. We got picked up.

My time at target was used up by getting a new phone. The AT&T guys were horrified at my very old phone. As long as I am not paying more per month a new phone is fine.

I have a new bookshelf to put together and the cats have a new scratch thing. Wild day at the flat.

Off to work in a few.

Donwanna.

Main motivation is the half a frozen (well, now just cold) mocha I left in the walk-in, with my name on it, and it better still be there!!

ETA: Monkey just sneezed. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard him do that!

until something long and scaly decides its hungry lol

That would totally not surprise me. Working with the public can be rather interesting at times.

Hubs just put together one of those shelving units you put behind a toilet. He thought the drywall screws they supplied weren’t sufficient and is now on his way to the hardware store for lag bolts.

If it’s gonna be done, it will be overdone!!!

Indeed! I’m glad your fix was not horribly pricey and also fairly quick.

New scratch things are always exciting!

Before we brought Bella home, we bought a small kitty tree from one of the big Pet stores and I have buyer’s remorse. It is a great size for Bella, GG has knocked it over twice.

Koritza approves of the scratch thing, lager approves of the new Halloween decor.

There were 2 plush black pumpkins, one has bat wings, the other has a gold spider and web. Lager is napping on the spider pumpkin.

I laundered. I napped. Drinking a gin&tonic and watching Packers handegg. Spot is watching the sunroom channel.

A H.P. Lovecraft story, or shoe’s ASF cage? you decide.

Well, you can walk into a bagel place, and order an Everything with nothing.

WANT!

Yanno, after 40 years of marriage, you’d think I’d know, especially when it comes to cars. FCD test drove the Santa Fe XRT. It’s now in our garage. No shopping involved. He’d done some shopping and comparing on line and felt like this would do what he wants. I was amazed that we didn’t need to put any money down and we got 2.99% financing. Since I hadn’t expected to buy today (silly me) I hadn’t gathered our pertinent money info, so when they asked about our income, I guessed, probably low. And since I forgot my phone, I couldn’t check our bank account. Anyway, with credit scores in the 800s, there was no question. They even believed we were veterans without showing our DD214s - tho we did scan and send one (for a $500 discount.)

What was really nice - instead of being handed a sheaf of papers, we got a thumb drive with all the documents on it. We signed on this fancy desk-top where all the various documents were displayed with highlights for our signatures. It was pretty cool.

It fits in the garage, snugly. And amazingly, our insurance only went up about $22/month. For now…

We went to Famous Dave’s for BBQ afterwards, but it was quite mediocre - very disappointing. Now we’re home and chillage is underway.

When I bought Carmen in 2019, the documents to sign weighed about as much as she does.

Afternoon all. Spent most of the day either watching youth playing soccer or watching the Olympics on the tiny TV’s attached to the stationary bicycles. So well-exercised for the day. Dinner will be in about an hour then internettin’ and readin’ until bedtime rolls around.

FCM, congrats on the new car, and that the process appears to have been relatively painless.

Considering I’m a youth soccer coach, all those other sports tend to blur together…

And waiting for the Autotrain to pass the camera in Ashland, Va.; such excitement… Take care all.

The new bookcase is in place and looks good…I’m waiting until I find the peel and stick to put the back panel on.

The stereo is on it, and next will be putting the books and things from the old shelf unit on it. Then the old shelf unit will hopefully find a new home.

I was able to use my cool rolling tool thing to put it together. So much easier than crawling around the floor. I will use the roll thing to load the shelves.

It went together really easily after I fixed the one thing I got in the wrong place. Really impressed with the company. They included a hex bit that fit in my screwdriver and white work gloves! So much easier than that wee bent thing that is the usual thing included (although that was included as well).

Dogbutler, I found the plush pumpkin with bat wings in home goods, do you have one in your area?

A trip to the dog park was made. We ran into my neighbor’s granddog there and Blue, Nelson, Jack, Bandit and Tofu had a good afternoon playing puppy tag.

I also went to the grocery outlet and came home with the usual stuff. Eating a cold plate (a scoop of the Waldorf chicken salad, a scoop of cottage cheese, a garden salad and whole wheat pita) for supper. The chicken salad hit the spot.

It took for-freekin’-ever, tho. We were there close to 3 hours! But that’s pretty standard, isn’t it? FCD will go back in a couple of weeks to get his tags. He gets regular service for the first 3 year/36000 miles, but we can have that done in the closer dealership. Then our guy will take over.

Now comes his fun part - programming everything. It’s a computer on wheels!!

Would lag bolts solve the problem?

Dafuq it’s barely August.

A lil’ of column “A” and a lil’ of column “B.”

This gave me pause.

Then what the hell are they famous for?

Missed the bicycle part at first and thought, “Watching sports is not the same as doing sports, yanno.”

Thanks for the reminder, I have some in my freezer!

Today I realized that in a restaurant kitchen, "We may want new ink … " could mean, “Someone check the printer; I can’t read these tickets!” or it could mean, “I’m considering a(nother) new tattoo.”

S.M. brought in a bunch of scalloped potatoes. “My mom made these, she said they’re for anyone who would appreciate them,” and you best believe there’s a deli cup with cheesy N.O.T. on my coffee table right now.

Thanks, Boss’s Momma!

Oh, and in gossip-y news … do y’all remember Gentleman Caller?
Nice guy, we had a good thing going, casual fun & nothing more expected, then he got weird and blocked me?

To absolutely nobody’s surprise, guess who unblocked me early this morning?

He groveled very well, with a lengthy and super heartfelt message expressing how sorry he was and how much I mean –

Just kidding.

He sent a “looking eyeballs” emoji.

Like, that was it.

Dude, you gotta up your game, man.

If I was feeling incredibly charitable & was a kindhearted person, I’d guess that he assumes the worst and is trying to suss out my feelings/reactions in the most non-conflict-causing way possible.

Sucks to be him, though, cuz I’m actually a royal-class bitch.

Mrs. L.A. made some more whit rice, but she didn’t eat any. She put it in the fridge. I put a couple of frozen catfish filets with home-mixed Cajun seasoning into the toaster oven at 400ºF for half an hour, and ate them with tartar sauce and half an avocado with mayo. The Spousal Unit made her version of Hemingway daiquiris (no lime juice). I had a couple, plus some wine.

Afterward, I did some painting on the tailpiece of the Seca II… which reminds me that I need to go out and do a clear coat on the underside.

Or that the squid is lonely.
