(Old) Oh, Eh? Can You See? - A Holiday MMP

Almost-evening here. Did make it to the gym and since the stationary bikes have TV outlets and the European Soccer championships were on, pedaled longer and burned more calories than I had planned to. That made me hungry and I decided to bust the calorie meter and went to 6 Guys. About 2200 calories later I am stuffed and happy. Now try to keep from snacking for the next 4-5 hours…

FCM, glad you have the beds getting gone. Also in getting rid of the ants.

red, did you and Nelson make it to 500 or not?

JtC, considering your reports, I’ll hold onto my Tuesday opinion for the dishes re-appearance. Down here in N. Ali-bama most everyone has window blinds and mentioning curtains get you looked at funny.

Oopsie, hoping the rehearsal went well. And great progress on the Cathedral (will you have to set fire to it after it’s done?).

doggio, if there is a good definition of FUBAR, you are living it. Oh, and in regard to the Demon Murphy, always remember Cole’s Law: thinly sliced cabbage.

And that’s all the news from here. If anything non-slothlike happens I’ll report on it tonight. Otherwise catch you tomorrow.

Sweet corn was on the menu tonight here too.

Pretty close. :stuck_out_tongue: He’s bringing his rope toy to me now to continue the game (this morning, it was the hedgehog).

We did make it to the dog park this afternoon. Nelson got to run with Bandit, Jack and Ollie. I was hoping that it would wear him out, but he’s still bringing toys to play fetch with.

Staying in now under the AC and fixing to play around in the studio.

JtC, I’m not sure why, but my mom has a partial set of plates and some Pyrex stuff that are sitting on a chest in her bedroom. Maybe I could send it your way! (Although, I suspect she’d notice it missing eventually…)

I did not end up going to the funeral. I felt so awful for not going, but I am in so much pain and I was afraid of what would happen if I was unable to drive back home. (My mom hasn’t driven - especially on an expressway - in a year or two.) So, I made my grand apologies and I have to hope it was enough. I am certain that she was well supported as she has two children, two step children, and plenty of grandchildren to surround her at the funeral.

In the meantime, I’ve been sleeping, working, and eating, and wishing that it didn’t hurt so much to move. I hope the doctor gets back to me Monday and has an idea of what will help. This is no fun.

In better news? Hmmm… Well, my stepson helped MusicMan with reorganizing the music room and that was very nice of him. He has certainly matured in the last few years. Oh, and there’s a lovely fluffy poodle sitting next to me on the couch.

Just a short trip to the library.
Aside- theres a new book called Knife by Salman Rushdie. I haven’t checked it out yet, but I am sure its quality.
Just a ham and cheese sandwich for supper.
Actually got a book called Come On Man by Joe Concha. I like to read a variety of opinions.
Church tomorrow.
Nervous about Monday when I get my Leep.
Had one longish ago, no problem, but the Cleveland Clinic is a quality place to get a procedure. This time its at my gynos.

I expect Herbert West grew up back in the hollers, probably somewhere out back of the Hatfield McCoy trails. I’ve heard some tales about Mothman out round these parts, t’wouldna suprise me if Dr. West was involved in those doings.

This will happen as well…but it won’t be on my counter, it will be in the pantry.

You might lose, but I’m not going to start gloating now. I am pretty sure that I know where that box is. It is the only box with TC’s friend’s handwriting left and is probably the first box the unloaders brought in. I really want to get to that box and I’m highly motivated. I’m guessing I’ll unearth it by 11 on Monday.

We have learned that the Kroger’s we like is dead before 11 on Sundays, so shopping will happen then. I am going to insist that Hubs get an afternoon nap, he’s been hurting himself daily and that just isn’t necessary. While I agree that all of the stuff needs to be done, it doesn’t need to be done all at once. As long as we are making progress, it is fine.

NOOOO!!! No plates, I know we have plates and we won’t have room for more plates once they are found.

Pyrex you say…hmmmm. NOOOO! I have enough Pyrex, even if it is the nice engraved measuring cups.

Or maybe not, the new stuff just has paint that washes off over time.

I’m sorry you didn’t make the funeral, I know you wanted to. Your health is important so I think you made the right choice.

Tonight Hubs made burgers with his fancy pants smoker/BBQ. They were so much better than the ones he did in the little BBQ, life just gets better daily around here!

ETA @The_Stainless_Steel_Rat mini-blinds seem to be in fashion here as well, but they only block about 10% of the heat/cold and light. Adding thermal curtains can make a huge difference in the heat/cold in the home. The curtains in the dining room made a very big difference in our comfort levels and will probably save us a few pennies on our electricity bill.

I believe it is this set. Too heavy for my liking.

ETA: I decided to do an online urgent care call about my leg. The doc I saw the other day didn’t have all the info from the ultrasound when I talked to him. So I figure I have nothing to lose asking for a second opinion. I’m waiting for the visit to start.

Hoping the best for you. Legs are important.

Yes, legs are important, but

Yeah, maybe I should get to bed…

:joy::joy::joy:

You may find this YT channel an interesting tour of your area of WV, along with eastern Kentucky. It tends to tour cemeteries, etc, many connected with the Hatfield / McCoy feud, but also covers some local lore about other folks buried there.

I read this as a set of partial plates. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I’m on a streak electronically. Although the new keyboard came in today, my electronic die cutter crapped out. I had to drag out the old one (it’s one model earlier) and remember how to navigate it to finish up the cuts I needed. I miss my touchscreen! Now, I’ll have to peruse MP, CL and EBay to replace the one that died, since that model is no longer made. Le sigh.

So I had thunderstorms about 6, about the time that somebody showed up and started licking my head. I had a Sazarac tonight with the Asian BBQ chicken. Watching more F1 practice.

Reminds me of the first night I had Gordie. We went for a 3 mile run, then played fetch for 2 hours, till I was to exhausted to reach my beer.

The Appalachians were raised up before bones evolved. So serious weirdness is possible.

Yay! I found one on MP that I can pick up tomorrow 10 miles from home. Meanwhile, I had put in a bid on EBAY that, should I get it, i will be obligated to purchase in 4 days. However, even if I wind up with two, I’ll still be under budget.

I’ve been wondering why the American national anthem has insinuated itself into my brain as an earworm for days now. It’s this damn thread title that keeps popping up!

Don’t post in the MMP that often, but had to share. I bought a Jeep yesterday!

Quick story: ZakSon is about to get his full DL, so I was giving him my truck (2013 Tundra), was looking at Ford F-150 to replace (this was several months ago), my genius wife says “We’ll still have the truck for 2 more years, you don’t use it as a truck that often, and all of your friends have trucks you can borrow. Let’s get something for fun weekends at the coast. Why not look at Jeeps?”

So I started looking at Jeeps. Drove a few, but couldn’t find “the one”. Jeeps are hard to come by where I live.

So we went to see my best friend for the 4th and he lives in a much more Jeep-friendly area than I do, so he and I went yesterday and I ended up buying a 2021 Wrangler Willys for a really good price. All the goodies, drives great and I’m now a Jeep guy! Get to do the wave and everything.

ETA, and my buddy’s wife went out yesterday and bought me a Winston Churchill duck so that I would have a duck!

Woohoo! Can you get a bumpersticker that says DON’T CRY, FORD BOY. MAYBE SOMEDAY YOU’LL HAVE A JEEP?

Ha! That’s funny. I did look at Broncos but they have too many blind spots and IMHO aren’t as versatile.

Looking at tire covers and other accouterments now though. It’s a fun time.

Leaning towards this one (look at my avatar):

I’ve been behind those in traffic. Gets a smile!

DH and I just bought a Cherokee Trailhawk a couple of weeks ago.

Duck?

Outstanding! But you need a “If you can read this, flip me over” bumper sticker.

My job here is done.

Congrats fellow Jeep owner!

It’s apparently primarily a Wrangler thing but all Jeep are eligible for Duck, Duck, Jeep.

Sometimes I wonder, “How to ezzplain ‘hoomans’ to wandering aliens.”

And tonight, there are still random boom-booms, for … reasons? That make sense to my fellow hoomans?

Hell, I couldn’t explain those reasons myself to anyone, except possibly the British, which explanation would come with tea. In a bag. That you microwave.

{ wanders off to hell, to check if her table is still available }
