(Old) Oh, Eh? Can You See? - A Holiday MMP

Must be a much older version.  You should see the Bronco that we thought we were going to get a few years ago, before some unexpected fiscal issues depleted the money that we intended to spend on it.  Even more modern and sophisticated than the 2020 Cherokee Trailhawk that we now have, with even more buttons and settings.

Our Cherokee doesn’t even have a 2-wheel drive mode at all (some lesser versions do).

By the way, we will now not drive any other vehicle. This one is all [we’ll|wheel] drive.

Not to worry. At that age they bounce when they hit the floor. It’s folks Jane’s and Hubs’s ages that get hurt falling out of even low beds.

Taters Hooray for extended Son visit even if that did trash your computer workspace.

No, no, NO! I don’t think that. I’m sorry if I offended you. I was saying the other people I knew who had it were old. It’d be up to you to decide if that aspect of the diagnosis applied to you or not.

I have never in my life seen somebody carry water into a restaurant. Not when I lived in Phoenix, nor Vegas, nor my extensive time visiting Tucson. I’ve certainly never thought to do it.

On second think that may be a bit extreme. There were ladies who carried a reusable water bottle / sippy cup with them everywhere. So it was always rattling around in the overnight bag they mislabeled a “purse”. It went into the restaurant with them, and back out. And might even be refilled there. But not drunk from while there. That’s just weird. :man_facepalming:

They might be small, but they’re as broke as their customers. The horrors of Flint were less a matter of evil intent than simply a large job to do with no budget to do it with due to no tax base.

I have a pack of the same ones ‘cuz I’m classy an’ shit too! They’re slowly getting used when I’m feelin’ lazy. Somehow dumping a styro of yesterday’s (hah) leftovers on a real plate seems like puttin’ on airs. If it comes out of a styro, it goes on a paper plate as Og intended.

Oopsie that rehearsal and performance plan sound like real progress and great fun.

Any teenaged girl with a Lambo poster in her bedroom is gonna grow up to be my kinda woman. Roowwwr! Roowwwr! (“Those are engine noises, not flirty noises” sez he… “Yeah, suuuuure they are” sez she.)

Another vote that thermal curtains can really change the heat balance in a room or building. Anyone concerned about HVAC cost or capability who has direct sun-exposed windows really ought to try them. And yeah, Jane’s comment about year-round averaged billing is spot-on. If your provider offers it, you might well sign up for it.

Jelly. I have the Artemis Space Launch System set sitting here looking at me accusingly. And the Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle on order. I’ve finally cut down to just ordering the ‘real’ space sets and the very occasional nostalgia piece. My ultimate goal is to have a collection of the US rockets, but most of them will have to be MOCs. I have links to plans/shopping lists for:

  • Mercury/Gemini
  • Delta II
  • Delta IV
  • Falcon 9 with Crew Dragon
  • Falcon Heavy
  • Starship and Super Heavy (probably hold off on this one until the thing is finalized).

Missing the Atlas Series and the Saturn 1/1B.

Part of the difficulty is that I want them all at the same scale as the Saturn V that I bought several years ago.

And I’m always looking for a deal on the Ghostbusters firehouse and original Ecto-1 set (with all 4 Ghostbusters as minifigs).

She’s loving it, except for the long drive. But she likes her coworkers and the fact that she doesn’t bring work home with her and she doesn’t have to deal with parents and teens. Not to mention the pay… Yeah, she’s happy.

FCD, Daughter, and SIL retrieved the bimini frame. Everyone ate and everyone who doesn’t live here have gone home. Blissfully quiet.

The people who were coming for the other bed backed out - husband decided a queen was too big. So I messaged one of the others who responded and if necessary, I can repost the ad. Annoying but not that big a deal.

And I have 4 cantaloupe of varying sizes! Maybe more since they’re green and effectively camouflaged. But Yay! Plus I saw 3 more cukes that are a few days from harvesting. No peppers at all and some 'maters still very green. It’s a good thing I don’t rely on farming to pay my bills!

Time for more chillage.

It was only a matter of time. I also carried around my refillable bottle of water in my bag, but then the bottles with the snap-hooks that you could clip to outside of your bag came out and the bottle would clang against the chair or floor, so it made it’s way onto the table. Once the bottle was on the table, it was only natural to drink from that rather than making the diner staff fill and wash a glass of water that would only have a few sips taken due.

I’ve seen bottles and insulated cups on restaurant tables for at least a decade now. At first it was just fast food places, then diners. Mexican places were next and then the steak houses.

I really am trying to break myself of the habit now. It is easier now that I don’t need a big gulp of ice water just to walk across a parking lot without dying of thirst.

We are in full agreement again. The window in question only needs to be covered a couple of hours a day, but hanging the curtains yesterday kept the dining room much cooler for the rest of the evening.

Our last place didn’t have any east/west facing windows, this place has windows on all four sides so I’m going to have to remember than when I’m replacing all of the brothel draperies.

So far, the ice cream trick seems to have worked. After Hubs sat down and relaxed over a bowl of ice cream he announced that GG needed a nap and stretched out on his recliner. I’m happy.

When we decided that, yes, we do need two vehicles so I have a wider range of employment options, we knew we needed good cargo capacity for DH’s work tools and the ability to handle rough construction sites the Dart (it’s a pretty compact sedan) should never have been asked to venture onto. DH also wanted good off-road capacity (which I can see being useful in an emergency situation such as evacuation).

I love my power company’s “budget billing” option that evens out my payments over the year.

Of course he’s not going to admit he needed it too. Gotta cover by blaming the cat and making himself look like the devoted doting kitty daddy.

Meanwhile, Jane has carefully exercised the stomach → heart → mind control trick that has let women rule this planet since forever. Wily indeed is that vixen. Smart too. Did I mention both subtle and talented?

FCM: Thanks for the update on Daughter. I too was curious but was a bit afraid to ask, lest another tale of towering vexation in FairyChatLand come pouring forth. Your clan is way overdue for stuff to start going right again. I’m real happy to hear this is one of those things.

And yaay for the beginnings of fresh vegs. Sounds delish. I have rather little experience as a veg gardener, but what little I did have tended to follow a pattern:

No veggies yet; No veggies yet; A couple teeny veggies now; Wow, a decent amount of veggies this time; Holy Crap what am I gonna do with all this produce??!!!?

You may be about to round the knee in that curve.

I hope that you enjoy it! It’s one of my favorites to craft by.

Well, not this time. When I got there, she had an original Expression, like my backup machine that I switched to last night. Still have the bid on one on EBay and looking for others.

Yay!

Dinner (white bean, rosemary lemon stew) was yummy. In a bit, I’ll complete assembly on the set of cards that I cut last night. Not a whole lot else shaking at CasaRoja.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and then decided to get fried chikin N.O.L.s from the Pubic Sto’ deli at the other Pubic Sto’ as we were closer to that one. We got back to da cave, et, and then accomplished nappage. It’s been threatenin’ rain all afternoon and may still yet do so. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Netflix, chill, and popcorn are on the agenda and will begin shortly. Thus it is in swampland.

Thanks for your descriptions and updates. I told a friend how the Notre Dame set is constructed–she’s a church architecture afficionado.

Gotta love it when the cat thinks he’s helping with housework, but he’s really not.

Imgur

Cute, though.

That he does quite well.

That should be the pic for your christmas card!

If I did Christmas cards (I don’t, due to lack of organization), I’d either pick something more religious-theme or have DH help me come up with a collage of photos of all three pets, since I try not to play favorites among my “kids”.

Evening all. Finally got myself in motion and spent some gym time on the bikes, so don’t feel too guilty about the extra pieces of rye bread I ate after my sammiches tonight. Still at 90F at 6:30pm, so no rest for the HVAC until late tonight.

Taters, glad your son was able to visit.

FCM, great news on Daughter’s new job; bet they are happy they hired her, too. Hope bed #2 gets grabbed soon.

Sounds like the voice of experience… And ice cream would work on me, sure it will work on Hubs. As for averaging the bill (also mentioned by Nettie), I heat my house with gas, so when the electric bill is high the gas bill is minuscule, and visa-versa, so it works out pretty well.

Oopsie, sounds like a great time is to be had in about 10 days. Enjoy!! And I’d really like to see what that Lambo would look like.

Well, great minds and all that…

Nettie, love that picture. If he know how much water goes through that machine…

And that’s all he wrote. Picked up the Sunday NY Times and haven’t had a chance to read it yet, so that should fill the evening hours. Take care all and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

So what do those actually do?

Release a flock of ducks.

Turn on the submersible mode.

In addition to my normal cleaning, I cleaned under the washer, dryer, stove and fridge. I also changed and laundered the sheets(with surprising little “assistance” from Spot.) I also did my grocery list for the week, and took out the trash and recycling between rains. I guess I would suck at being a RDOS. But I’m having a martini, since my orange for my Old Fashioned had a blight.

So he should get off your lawn?
But hope you can find a do that will help fix that.

Yay for suprise son!(unless you are a guest on The Jerry Springer Show)

My late Grand Cherokee also had a lever. Damn that was a fun truck.

"Go away! Or I will taunt you a second time!
