Hubs played Alice’s Restaurant at noon. It’s his tradition. Does anyone else follow this tradition?
I’ve washed a lot of dishes, particularly the crock pot as that’s what Hubs is making the turkey breast in. Now he’s watching the Lions, currently up 13 zip on Da Bears.
I worked out on the NuStep 43 minutes and I’ve gotten my Honey-Roasted Root Vegetables and Green Bean Casserole recipes out. About to start cutting up the root veggies.
Well, that didn’t go as planned…headed out to the Golden Corral aiming to get there about 11:30am, figuring that a lot of folks would be at church and the rest would be eating later…turns out I’m not so good at figuring, the parking lot was oveflowing and the restaurant wasn’t just packed but had a line 30-40 people deep standing outside. Nothing else that appealed to me was open, so came home and fixed a BIG breakfast (6 small pancakes, bacon and toast) so my belly is quite happy.
Me too, ever since I got that Highlander in 2003; never have looked at a sedan after that.
Legend, best wishes to Daughter for a smooth, risk-free birth and a cute grand-baby for you.
wet one, my gym is closed today, only open 8-4 tomorrow. But just make it a habit or perhaps a ‘tradition’ to make it a regular thing.
Real Fish, the cane story is a nice one. I have pictures of my Dad when he played HS football and my Mom for HS Basketball, those go back to the 1930’s and remind me of the length of time covered by my parents and now I.
BBBoo, took a good look but coudn’t spot Pilot, he must have been on the other side.
flyboy, your Wife is a good person.
TIme to do a little cleanup (pancake syrup is good but sticky) and maybe watch some of the tackleball game. A good afternoon to all.
IME, most churches don’t have services on Thanksgiving day, so they can swamp the restaurants have a holiday meal at their leisure.
Well, the haluski was pronounced adequate and the rest of dinner excellent. Pierogi and golumki has been put in the freezer in individual portions and are in the freezer. Now for chillage and a food coma.
Thanks for doing that! I’m certain that I saw Pilot as he was the one in the red hat, right?
Sounds good to me! Here’s my dirty little secret: I thought the turkey itself was disgusting. It had a gamey smell and taste which was too much for me. I tried to kill some of it with barbecue sauce, but after awhile I just gave up on it. Pancakes would have been preferable to what I ate.
I did manage to clean up the kitchen already and get a short nap, so I’d consider that a good day.
Howdy Y’all! We ate. We drank. We laughed. ‘Twas a good time had by all. Now everyone is gone with leftovers and OYKW and I have leftovers for a couple of days. I call that win-win all around. Dishwasher is washin’ away and we shall now accomplish nappage. Gotta be well-rested to watch my DAWGS swat the NATS.
I’m at home with the cat. My biggest accomplishment of day has been putting on my snuggly velour robe and digging out my electric lap throw, plugging it in and turning it on to ‘crispy brown’.
Heated up (nuked) my leftover General’s chicken from Tuesday’s grocery store trip and am about to grab the two chickie egg roll leftovers out of the air fryer for the rest of my Turkey Day repast. A huge sweet potato has been readied for baking in the air fryer for my supper-sweet potatoes and butter are a must for the day. Petite green peas and a navel orange will round out that repast. At some juncture elderly Costco pumpkin pie and ALDIs ersatz cool whip will be dished up. The pie is quite a bit older than the cool whip so may end up pitching the rest of it.
Otherwise frittering away the cold, gray, grim cloudy day with its fits and starts of snow flurries by hanging out with you guys, reading the paper on-line through my library to catch up on the local happenings this week, although, to be truthful it may be more to dawdle over the sports pages to bask some more in becoming bowl eligible last week. Lots of happy campers here about that.
Hopefully I cued this up right. Four little green dino floats and then the big balloon comes around the corner, right about at 1 hour, 56 minutes and 30 seconds.
Thanks for the tip~I was looking for something to watch to fritter away the rest of the day in RDOS style. Swampie, you’re the captain of the varsity RDOS, I’m barely a scout team walk-on. Here’s hoping da DAWGS are on one of my streams. There’s always YouTube highlights. There’s also a Carolina vs. the other Carolina coming up and Michigan State has a big deal game soon too.
Spent a nice few hours at the eldest’s home in WI. All three of my kids were there, along with several of their offspring, SO’s and a couple of great-grands. My DIL went through a lot of effort, and I brought her a pound of Ethiopian coffee beans as a hostess gift. Drove over and back in snow flurries. Nothing serious. I almost didn’t go, as I tweaked my back putting together what has to be the Nakatomi Tower of scratching posts. Am now soothing it with a glass of red.
We ate, we talked, they went home, we did dishes, FCD is on his computer, and I’m ready for my recliner, watching TV, and crocheting.
FCD has been down - his mom is slipping away and he feels so helpless. I know what’s going on in his head - he wishes it was all over, and he feels guilty about that. Plus he’s got to go to the hospital tomorrow - his brother is scheduled for his pacemaker procedure first thing in the morning. Too much on him.
SIL is coming over while I’m at the Dr so FCD can head to DC. He’s bringing the grands - I’m going to watch them so Daughter can work at home. And with luck, FCD will get home reasonably early so I can take the kids home. We’ll just see how that plays out.
Till then, I’m stuffeded and heading back to my recliner.
I got to the gym just as a gentle yoga class with my favorite instructor was starting. Instead of doing the elliptical, I did reclining butterfly. Came home, had my honey baked spiral cut ham, scalloped potatoes, and leftover green bean casserole. Watch some TV, took a nap, then visited Ariel. Surprise of surprises she was actually quiet even though she had been in all day. It’s dang cold here 29°.
After I left the barn I decided I had to have ice cream. I have ice cream about twice a year. Stopped at a gas station and got a nutty buddy ice cream cone. Yum.
Hey everyone, I hope the day went well for all. It started kinda ick here, Hubs rubbed his paper thin skin against the door sill while going to the bathroom in the middle of the night and I woke up with bloody bedding. Everything got dumped into the bathtub and soaked in cold water before we left for a mid-afternoon feast and I’ve been dealing with the stains since we got home.
He bled all over everything from the bedspread to the mattress pad and I wiped blood off his mattress. (waterbed bladder) All has finally come out clean and the bed has been dressed.
Poison control has also been called because Jolene got into the leftover cranberry sauce. I wasn’t really worried about the cranberries, the booze was what concerned me. The very patient person on the other side of the phone said that he had been talking about dogs all day and that a cat getting into the sauce wasn’t nearly as routine.
Hub’s turkey came in an hour ago. We each had a bite and agreed that his turkey was much better than the ones we had eaten a few hours ago. Hubs thinks that spatchcocking and brineing turkeys is the way we will be doing things from now on.
We had a noisy, chaotic t-day supper with Harry and family, including kids, grands and several other unrelated guests. Land lobsta tastes just like their water dwelling crawdad brethren and my cranberry sauce was enjoyed by many.
@Baker once sent me a few packs of Whip-it (thank you SO much) to try and they have really upped my impress-the-neighbors game. Well, it impressed the adults, that is. Harry had a case of 8 oz cans of reddi-whip and each of the littles got their own can to use as they wanted. If they wanted some pie to put under it, they could have it but most of them just had bowls of canned topping for desert.
A nice couple about my age came and got me for Thanksgiving dinner. They have sons, dots in laws and toddlers.
Food was good.
I love football, but they were watching basketball; college no less, and now I am a Razorback fan.
Home and hoping the lake effect will not be as bad as predicted.
I have books to read, and my favoriite cashier bought me my Variety Puzzle book!
I went outside to view the landscape with no snow, which won’t happen again for awhile.
There was Moley, the outdoor tuxedo demanding his tuna.
I went up to get it; I must obey my cat overlord, he was right at the door waiting.
