(Old) “Oh shit! I see Monday!” - Spot‘s new MMP (told you I liked it)

Of course not. I rubbed catnip all over it, which was of momentary interest, and now it just sits there like a big, $50 scale model of some skyscraper.

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 36F and cloudy, with just a little fog. The morning will remain overcast, but we’ll transition to partly cloudy skies for the afternoon and then back to cloudy skies in the evening. The daytime high will reach 45F.

JtC, I hope Jolene is okay today.

CatGlove, I can carry over 240 annual leave hours yearly. Anything above that is used or lost by the end of the leave year. Since October, I’ve been taking every other Friday off (in addition to the RDOs) and am burning approximately a week more around Christmas time. Comp time must be used within a year, or it’s paid out. Paying out comp time causes a lot of consternation, so utilizing those comp hours is actively watched.

My husband has decided he wants a new television for Christmas. I watch more than him, so I know it’s mainly me he’s thinking about. I still don’t want to do it. We’ll see what happens.

I also need to change my internet plan. I have a 1.2 TB plan, and for the first time ever, we’ve exceeded our data limit, which means overage charges. The Microsoft Flight Simulator burns a lot of data, especially the newest version because it’s all done via streaming instead of storing most of the game. My husband “flies” a lot. It’s a huge game with constant updates.

I made pot roast for T-giving dinner and there’s plenty left over for tonight. My son stayed overnight and will probably do so again. I don’t have plans to go out today because that way lies madness.

FCM, I am sending you and yours continued hugs. I hope all goes/went well with the pacemaker surgery and that things at home remain smooth and quiet.

It’s time to get the last of the dishes in the dishwasher and start tidying up.

JtC, gentle yoga is usually done in the prone position or seated on the floor. Slow, soft movements held for about a minute. Nothing fast or breath connected. It’s a lot like meditation but with movement. Yesterday we did reclined butterfly, reclined child’s pose, reclined twists. I was the youngest participant….

Howdy! Hope Jolene is ok today, JtC.

((FCM and family))

I’m in the middle of cleaning spurts between sitting spurts. My stepsons will both be coming today (or at least we think so). So cleaning is the order of the day.

Catch y’all later!

Hey everybody! Here’s the dedicated thread on my parade adventure.

Morning all. Up early and instead of whiling away the hours in the MMP, I got dressed and headed out to Kroger, because I have heard of those Black Friday crowds. Well, two hours, four stops and a return home to put frozen stuff away, I’m back and frankly, it’s not too bad out there (and I was in Wal-Mart for one of the stops). I think with the amount of on-line shopping these days the stores are not quite as looney as earlier. Or maybe everyone was still sleeping off Thanksgiving Dinner…

Anyway, that is done and will have some lunch here in a bit, the gym is only open until 4pm today so I’ll have to go early if I’m going to get any work in. 39F now and heading to 46F later, so November weather for certain.

JtC, best wishes for Jolene and hope her system clears out any minor nastiness. And thanks for the invitation, but we’ll have to see. And an disappoint for an early delivery? I am confused.

Cupcakes, BBBoo, thanks for the You Tube video, my Mom was from North of the Mason-Dixon line but I recognized a few things there…

Nettie, sorry to hear of your water problems; hope they are easier to solve than mine were/are.

British, informal. : something that is messy or poorly done

boo fae, have driven more than a few miles with the ‘low fuel’ light on, just hoping I could get to that next station. Glad you’re enjoying it and are doing good.

FCM, when this is over, you might want to suggest some counseling to FCD to help deal with the aftermath; he’ll probably resist the idea, but then again, maybe he’ll know that some help with this is the way to go. You know him better than anyone.

And now my stomach is telling me that food is necessary, so off to the kitchen I go. Take care all.

Yes. Uti. Happens regularly, every 4 months or so.

Yesterday was great: 6 hours with some of my favorite people, and lots of yummy homemade food (turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes w/marshmallows, mac and cheese, and pie)! I watched most of the parade in the morning, but managed to miss pilot’s green dino…thanks for the link, BBBoo! I walked out of the house shortly after Santa passed Macy’s.

I think this was the last time I’ll be able to give Wife BFF’s 86-year-old godmother a ride: my car is low, and it was almost too low for her this year. We managed, but barely: my “nephew” took her back to the retirement community (in Wife BFF’s SUV) after we ate. My 76-year-old father can’t get in/out of my car anymore, either. Oh well…I like driving and being helpful, but I’m not getting rid of my BMW coupe any time soon.

I took today off work, and am basking in the feeling of being able to do whatever I want whenever I want! I just placed an Instacart order for bananas + lunch + misc. supplies, because it’s cold and grey out there and I’m too lazy to haul my butt to the grocery store that’s literally 1 mile from my house. My only goal for the day is to do my Christmas decorating. I’ve already moved everything I need out of the third bedroom. I have a different setup this year, so I’m looking forward to figuring out where all of the bits and pieces will go. The most time-consuming part will be taking 16 Swarovski snowflakes out of their individual boxes and putting them on their metal display tree, but I never mind it because I get to appreciate each snowflake and the finished product is always so pretty. The only thing I need to do outside is decide what shrub/hedge gets the lights that used to go on the crepe myrtle – which the landscapers cut way back a few weeks ago, and no longer has branches that can hold a light string. Once I pick a hedge, I’ll set a reminder for myself to turn the lights on at 4pm and trigger the built-in timer. My reward for finishing everything – and cleaning up after myself – will be starting to build Lego Chewbacca this evening.

I’ll actually have to do a couple of work-related things this weekend: I need to draft my team’s weekly report and send it to my boss, and submit my annual performance review self-assessment (I already started gathering metrics, but need to do the actual writing). I could have worked late on Wednesday and done both, but by that afternoon I really needed to log off; I decided that I’d rather finish up over the weekend. I’ll likely do everything tomorrow morning, when I need to log in anyway to approve my employees’ timesheets. Shouldn’t take more than a couple hours. And even though I hate doing self-assessments, I’ll be able to appreciate that I’m not working on the !@#$%^& proposal.

Have you ever seen the British show The Repair Shop? A team of restorationists – with old-world skills like wood/leather/metalworking, millinery, clockmaking, ceramics and fine art restoration, etc. – repair various people’s family heirlooms. Hardly anything has monetary value; it’s all sentimental stuff. Some of the stories are quite touching. If your dish ever needed fixing, it’s exactly the kind of thing they’d have on the show. It’s one of my favorite shows; at this point I’ve seen most of the episodes at least once (especially the early seasons).

(It’s currently available as an Amazon Freevee “channel,” but I recently learned that Freevee is going away and all of its content is being shifted to Amazon Prime Video.)

An early welcome to the new bundle of joy! :two_hearts:

Wow! :open_mouth:

So very cool.

Definitely messed up the lower back with that stupid scratching post. Took a couple of Aleve this morning and have a heating pad on it. Ditched the exercise session. The plus side is that this postpones getting all the Christmas crap out of the storage room.

Only 10F this morning, with wind chill below zero. Sunny skies, which is nice.

It was nice to be able to talk to three of my grandsons yesterday. One is doing well at uni and the other is really liking trade school. The third is trying to recover from his encounter with a deer. I may have mentioned that he went in a ditch to avoid hitting the animal. When he jumped out of the truck, it was about a six foot drop and he bunged up his knee. It’s still swollen and he’s gimping around. Had an MRI, but they’re taking their time getting back to him; it’s a really negative aspect of living in a small town.

BBBoo it was too bad that Scott Frost didn’t work out for your team. How do folks feel about a PennStater being head coach? Best of luck today against Iowa! Even though it’s my BIL’s alma mater, I prefer Nebraska.

I’m guessing this means the well-traveled Calipari is doing a good job with his new team.

Platelets are what causes blood to clot. Extremely low platelets is what caused Hubs to get the stem cell transplant. Hubs also has very thin skin now so any little cut/scrape causes a lot of blood loss quickly so they have to be addressed asap. His platelet count goes up and down. They were down at his blood draw on Monday. We had a zoom with his Stem Cell Dr on Tuesday and I mentioned it to her and she said certain of the 13 different prescriptions he is currently on can cause that. She’s trying to wean him off the ones that impact that the most.

Thanks for the :corn: Go Big Red :football:! We’ll need it. My brother is an UIowa alum, I grew up 18 miles from UI and assumed I’d go there too but at the last minute got a full ride to a small ivy covered private liberal arts college near St. Louis.

Scott Frost turned out to be not a good fit for Nebraska and it took years to figure that out. He was all hat and not enough cowboy. Manly bluster and good ol’ boy but not enough there there.

Matt Rhule came in humble and won people over by being low key and unassuming, won the players trust and loyalty with sincerity and ever so slowly showed results. Works for me.

I have donated platelets at my community blood bank for decades, I think I’m over 42 gallons. When I worked as a nurse in neonatal intensive care I saw a teaspoon of platelets save babies’ lives, which is what got me started. I’m perfectly happy to keep on donating for big people like your husband too.

Lazy Friday all around here, got up at 10am, ice cream for breakies, cats are in their lounging spots.

The big question is will I get to things on the list or just enjoy my lounging spot.

So now I get home and the elec is out.
Generator on so heat (most important) but no fridge or lights.

It sounds like everyone had a pretty good day yesterday (unless, of course, I missed something.) It was a good day for us as well. The Friendsgiving was a lot of fun - lots of delicious food, our corn pudding was a hit, and we got a chance to have a lot of great conversation with a lot of people. The kids came and, while BtY zoomed everywhere and CtE was shy, they were welcomed with open arms. I’m talking to CtE about coming to Sunday Assembly with us next weekend, in the hopes that maybe she’ll feel comfortable and find a community outside of the family.

Today has been a kick back and do nothing day. I ran out to the store to get some necessities this morning and Hubby and CtE went out a bit ago for CtE to get some walking in. I’m binging Bones while trying to get some computer and planning work done, while looking at pictures that Former Partner has been sending me of the snow they’ve got in Erie. I’ll be honest. I wish I could be there in the snow.

I’m a weird one who absolutely loves the snow. I love to get bundled up, hear the creaking of the snow under my feet, feel the chill on my face. Living in Tennessee, I don’t get snow nearly as often as I’d like. It’s another reason I want to move back to the north.

I hope everyone is having a relaxing Friday!

I have a bookcase that my grandfather made in shop class in in 1919. He had helped his uncle harvest the butternut tree a couple of years earlier and seasoned the wood. It has a tongue oil finish and has been in my living room for for years. I plan on keeping it as long as I have a home.

I hope Jolene recuperates fully soonest, JtC.

So the usual. Get called away to the Mez(twice) and the 300 Slide(once), plus having to go through the future(is today!) and the hold stuff(we (used to?)try to contact you if you screwed up the address). Except it looks like Twilight doesn’t do that any more. Plus once again Smalls is not looking what the shove in the bags(3 bags of 100 table stuff in 200 Table bags). Also:
dogbutler < looks at package with error > “Aha! the address and Addressee line are transposed. Easy fix!”
Every other clerk: < looks at label, emits high pitched keening noise, sends package to dogbutler >

Yeah, I second the counciling suggestion afterwards, along with screaming at a dumpster. {{{{Fairychats}}}}

Of the 3 cats over the 20 years I’ve had this scratching post, Spot is the only one who uses it.

I read this as “6 hours sleeping with my favorite people.”

Clearly you’re the man!

My mom and I got a surprise as we went out to the car to run some errands. My oldest stepson showed up! We knew he was coming but we didn’t know he’d be so early. He went with us to do the errands and when we got home he was an awesome kid and carried a bunch of stuff upstairs for me that MusicMan has been too tired to carry up when he gets home. He has really come around as he’s gotten older and I’m so glad.

Now I’m sitting here with a poodle on my lap while stepson plays a video game on his phone. I do believe when MusicMan gets home I may take off and take a nap.

(sigh) $80 for the tech to glare at the fan however was the right way to get it working. DH can normally do that. At least it’s working now.

Live this story! (Nitpick, tung oil)

Nice t-day. My sister came up from Mass, so we were 4.
