(Old) “Oh shit! I see Monday!” - Spot‘s new MMP (told you I liked it)

We collectively have unlimited capacity for admiring kitties (or other pets).

Is her eye OK? One looks maybe not quite right.

(grumble mumble growl) DH got himself stuck in mud, is currently awaiting towing, ETA 90-120 minutes. At least I’m not stuck there with him (elected to sit this one out, since I was super-tired and grumpy already), and we have very good roadside assist coverage via USAA.

Attempted afternoon nap kept getting interrupted (landscaping crew with leaf blower, door-to-door utility scam pest, phone call), which doesn’t help my grumpies.

Up from naptime, having a martini, and watching hockey.

You cannot post too many Sadie pics.

:green_heart:

Congrats to all Huskers!
My Spartans finally won a 5th game but they have to play Rutgers this w/e. Not getting my hopes up for bowl eligibility but stranger things have happened.

And it looks to me that you did great starting this week’s MMP.

It’s been very busy ever since I posted on Sunday mid-day so I have only had time to finish reading last week’s mmp. Will try to catch up later this week but there’s 162 posts and I’ve only read #1. Aack.

We tried again to see the butterfly movie. When I pulled into the parking lot, there were Zero school busses! So, the movie was almost a private showing, there appeared to be only a handful of other people. Very interesting basically a documentary on monarchs and it was in 3D. Then we strolled through the gift shop. Unfortunately the member appreciation was last weekend, oh well. Wanted to get soup and half a sandwich at the Diner but it was packed so we did a circuit of the museum and when we got back around, the diner was still packed so we came home and I made cream of tomato basil soup and grilled ham & cheese sandwich.

Had spaghetti for dinner. and Chocolate Brownie Cream Pie for dessert courtesy of Marie Callender.

Spartans won their first game against Colorado at the Maui Invitational on Monday, then lost last night against Memphis. They play UNC tonight. I know doggio is a NC St fan so I’m hoping he will root for another State team rather than those players whose heels have been dipped in tar.

FCD went back to give his mother her evening meds - he found her sitting on the edge of her bed, shivering. She pulled her blankets around her and said “Who are you?” Then she asked for me. While I was with her, he went to get her some water and she said “There was a man in my room.” She was so confused. We got her tucked in under the electric blanket with other covers on top. I don’t think it will be much longer.

Still not sure what will go with BIL - in the immediate aftermath of the pacemaker implant, he’ll need to wear a sling for a couple of days and he’ll have to be taken to for follow-up appointments. We’re hoping those will be in Clinton - it’s LOTS closer than where he is now. He’s freaking out about the cost of the helicopter, despite being told 3 times that it was free. (Apparently the sheriff’s dept logs it to training time or something.) Anyway, I doubt he’ll be released before Moanday. We’ll just have to see.

I’ve ridden the bike for the evening - time to find another documentary and crochet some more.

I guess that’s another one of those ten dollar words I throw around like pennies. (Mrs FF shared that Harry loves funning me but thought I should know he has his Master’s in mining engineering so he should know all of the words I do.)

Back in AZ, I knew if someone didn’t know my ten dollar word by the confused look on their face. Here? I can never tell if it is the word or because I talk funny. Usually its the latter, folks out here are not ignorant hillbillies despite how they sound.

My favorite song evah is Hey There Cthulhu. It just makes me want to get up and dance

Of course, All I want for Solstice is my Sanity has to be my theme song year round.

I also noticed that, but thought it was because of her dental issues. Sadie is such a lucky girl to have a new home with people who can and will pay that much money to get her teeth fixed or pulled.

:octopus:

A fellow gym user caught up with me a few days ago to ask about my Miskatonic University rear window banner. He is a younger person (maybe 50) who had walked by my car often enough to register what it said and then start wondering where it was because he was sure that it wasn’t in WV or VA.

I told him that it was a small private university in Arkham Massachusetts and I could see him searching his memory, so I teased a little more by saying “they have a great swim team”.

When I finally took mercy on him and said "all of which is a made up story written back in the 1920’s…

and he started cracking up because he had been a fan back when pulp fiction was a thing and knew he knew what the reference was!

New AND returning cult members are always valued.

:people_hugging:

Sadie is a pretty lady, cookie.

Baking is complete! We even had a little dish of pie filling that wouldn’t fit in the shell and it was pronounced fit to eat. Leftovers were consumed for supper, so the fridge has enough room for new ones. :stuck_out_tongue:

Update on DH - looks like it’s going to take two tow trucks to get him out, but he thinks there’s a decent chance it’ll be drivable when he gets out. He wound up in past-axle-deep water, on a stretch of road he’s driven more than a few times (sigh). I thought he was aware that Jeep Cherokees are not amphibious. I’ll have to delay expressing my opinion of this until I can muster sufficient vocabulary.

Agreed, Sadie is gorgeous and how our nellie described the look on her face is perfect! Gave me many very needed laughs.

:grimacing:
He needs a snorkel if he’s gonna do that

I see Jeeps and other vehicles with snorkels from time to time. Don’t you need to waterproof other parts? Alternator, distributor, etc.?

Thanks for the Huskers shout out~the whole state is pretty blissed out. It’s nice to have something unifying, positive and uplifting.

Hey, we beat Rutgers by a touchdown and if we could, I’ll be rooting for your Spartans to also.

We play Iowa on Friday. Traditional arch rivals. Hopefully I’ll be at my daughter’s and I can see it on one of their big tvs. It’ll sort of be like watching it at a sports bar, loud, lots of screaming and jumping up and down, chaotic, popcorn everywhere but the people spilling their drinks will be much, much younger.

Sorry, JtC. I remember your spatchcocking story. I’m sorry Hubs doesn’t.

Well, he didn’t drown it. Tracking shows him on the move, current speed about 45mph (reasonable for his current location).

What were you !@#$ ing thinking? would be a good choice.

Much too mild, really. I need a more weapons-grade vocabulary for this one.

One thing I am taking to the family dinner is a particular candy dish. It belonged to my grandmother and was kept on the back porch. It is a footed orange and black dish, and grandma would have peppermints, pillow mints and lemon drops in it. We kids would try and sneak candy without rattling the dish, thinking we were getting away with something. Of course she knew what we were doing. ’

It’s a cheap dish that grandma got as a thank you gift from the school board of the country where she taught a one room schoolhouse. It came before her marriage.

This year is it’s 100th anniversay. Of all of my physical possessions it is the one I value the most. It’s not made of gold or silver, it’s made of memories.

I"m done cooking. The praline pecan pumpkin cheesecake took a lot longer than Libby’s said it would. The recipe also called for 1/2 C. cornstarch. I sifted it because I know that cornstarch likes to clump and stirred it in. It still clumped. I put the mixture through a strainer, which also took too long.

I also mashed the potatoes until my arm about fell off, but there are still some small lumps. The potatoes were fully cooked. I shall call them “flavor lumps.” Advertising is everything.

I’m soooo tired, but despite my cleaning the kitchen after getting the cheesecake in the oven, and my putting things away as I used them, it needs cleaning again.

Cupcake, I love the candy dish story! Are you putting candies in it tomorrow? Did your gramma have some interesting stories about her teaching days?

The school district where I taught still had a one-room schoolhouse! It was about 40 miles outside town–too far for the kids out there to travel when they’re little, especially in the mountain snows. There are usually 8-10 kids there of various ages. Teachers tend to be young, single, and hardy. I admire your gramma!

I once had a student whose father drove her 50 miles to school each day. That family really valued education, and it showed. We also had a couple of boys who actually lived 80 miles away, over the MT border. It was easier to get to our school than the nearest Montana one. They boarded in town and went home on weekends when weather allowed.

Sorry, I got rambling. I’d better go do some cleaning.

That’s the way I like them. Can’t stand potatoes that look more like puree than mash.

Lumps are proof it was homemade and not from a box/bag.

Once we had lunch at a pizza place/sports bar. They had the Husker game up on a huge TV. The table next to up was a bunch of deaf mute guys who were yelling at the screen in sign language…
