(Old, or maybe we mean Aulde) Happy Christmas MMP

My usual brands are Lagavulin and Laphroaig. The Highland Park seems amazingly light and smooth in comparison.

Lady SCAdian just talked to the Hyundai dealer. They’re still waiting to hear from the insurance adjustor, meaning they haven’t even started on repairs. :frowning:

Ok. Mumpers who have cats, why do they want to lick you? My cat Atilla grooms the dog like that, and when I’m laying back in bed, or relaxed in the recliner, he tries to lick me too. A cat’s tongue is like wet sandpaper so I gently push him away, but he never stops trying. Do all cats do this, or is Atilla unique?

One of the neighbour kitties came by to visit. S/he is white-ish, with kind-of Siamese (kind-of not) markings. Black rings on the tail. Goo went to the catio fence and meowed at him/her to let him/her know s/he’s not wanted. She didn’t growl, but Goo’s tail was as big as a raccoon’s. Abbey, on the railing, didn’t get puffy, but she lowered her voice and told the visitor intruder s/he’s not welcome. Neighbour kitty just sat there, looking in and looking sweet. Goo, who had meanwhile jumped up on the table next to me, went inside on her own accord. I picked up Abbey and brought her inside.

Goo doesn’t lick us, but Abbey does. She likes to lick our fingers and hands when we pet her. I think she’s trying to teach us how to groom her. ‘OK, mom and dad. I’ll put spit on you, and then you can rub it on my face and head.’

Not nearly that entertaining…

The Smile of the Stranger by Joan Aiken - added to my list of authors to avoid.

Ziva will lick my hand sometimes, but not often. Taz was not a licker. One or both of Daughter’s cats will groom SIL’s hair if he’s lying on the floor.

Cats is weird.

Last load in the dryer. FCD is napping. I dumped the carrots into the pot, and in another half hour, I’ll peel and chunks some spuds for the same pot.

Definitely a lazy day.

Both of my current ones are lickers, more so than previous cats I’ve had. I just file it under “cats are weird people”.

Some reasons.

Probably. I know I see them regularly, though only as regularly as I did back in the 80s. I think it held up pretty well, though I’m amused to look at the clothing and hair styles. Definitely agree on Dotty though. She’s annoying and so incredibly clueless.

Thank you muchly! Hard to believe I’ve been around for 23 years now!

I read a similarly bad book the other day. I was trying to find polyamory positive books and this was listed. It was just… fantasy land, human couple making a triad with a dragonkin and the sex scene was just cringe.

Today ended up being fast longer than I’d planned. The doctor told Dad last night to have his ride set up because he’d be discharged around 10. So I got to the hospital right around 10, stopped by the nurses’ station to make sure Dad was ready, and was told that they didn’t have any discharge orders for him. We finally got everything straightened out but we didn’t leave until around noon. Between the drive and then sitting in the room, my back flared fairly badly. It was good to get Dad settled quickly and had back home where I could take my muscle relaxant.

I’m hoping that a little later I’ll be able to watch the Doctor Who special with Hubby. If I don’t fall asleep first.

Hugs (masked and gloved) to you and your hubby cat glove. It’s understandable that you’re not around as much, but any time that you feel like hanging out, come by.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. It’s a good thing that there isn’t much shaking for what I usually do this week, since I’m partially covering my workmate who flashes Samsung and the specialist for the vendor that we used to have. Keeps the idiot boss out of my hair. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put where it stays until it gets dirtied. The biiiiiig trash can got hauled all the way back up from the road to where it lives durin’ the week. Lots of sloth along with nappage and day drinkin’ were accomplished. Leftovers got et up. Life is good.

Taters I used a simple rub of a little salt and pepper cause I felt the roast did not need much for seasonin’ and it turned out well. Sorry you ended up with a sucky rub from the butcher. I’m lookin’ forward to makin’ soup with the bones and some of the meat. Don’t know what I’ll do yet, perhaps simple with some onion, carrots, and not you.

Real_Fish Happy Doperversary!

MOOOOOOM velour steerin’ wheel covers. OOH LA LA!

Evening all. Just back from dinner at the Olive Garden, twas good and am now watching a movie called “The Highwaymen” with Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson. Slow-paced so far but nicely acted. After the film I’ll head back to the hotel and pack for tomorrow’s flight.

Still rain/snow outside, spo will leave even earlier than I had planned.

Everyone take care, should be home and at my trusty computer by this time tomorrow.

If it comes with white wine sauce, I’d be all over it. :yum:

oopsy Good on 'ya! Both daughter & I waitressed during college for books and spending money and it’s hard enough without people stiffing or being parsimonious.

FCM - it’s been foggy or drizzly here for the last 5 days and I agree that kind of weather saps any motivation to do anything other than the absolute necessary. Although it was 51 or 52 yesterday and 55 today; extremely unseasonable warm weather. Only wore a T-shirt and sweatshirt to walk Bella today; even then I felt warm.

Have you tried Lactose Free milk? Hubs drinks the Kroger lactose free milk; daughter drinks Oat ‘Milk’. I refuse to call it that; I call it Oat Beverage. My dziadzia was a dairy farmer and he would be aghast at calling something other than liquid that came from mammary glands, milk. Daughter asked me to get her some that was Extra Creamy. I found Califa Farms Oat Extra Creamy Oatmilk at Kroger. She liked it, I tried it in my tea and it was pretty good.

Thank you SO much!

Day started shortly after 6am.
Used the bleach wipes that I took from the hospital last week (had to take Hubs to local ER last Tuesday then he was transferred/admitted downtown for 4 days to treat his infection that had gotten worse so the process for the Bone Marrow transplant has been postponed to next week) to sterilize Hubs bathroom, many door handles, the stair handrail, then came downstairs and did my bathroom, the kitchen and various other doorknobs going from kitchen to landing to Florida room to outside.
Filtered 3 gallons of water, having to do this much more frequently with daughter here and Hubs wanting hot tea frequently.
Washed a zillion dishes but didn’t get them all done; guess they’ll still be there tomorrow.
Made Hubs breakfast, special diet that his PCP gave yesterday after Hubs texted him to ask if he would be working today. PCP almost immediately called Hubs. He was very surprised that the Infectious Disease doc didn’t give Hubs instructions about diet before he was released from hospital.
Took Bella for a walk, relaxing but I’m starting to have aches when I stand for longish periods of time, was glad to get home and take a short load off.
Sanitized Hubs car, well just the entire front seat area including dash, floor mats, seats, console, doors, so there aren’t any lingering germs before daughter drives it back to her flat.
Washed more dishes, ugh.
Ordered pizza from Buddy’s, italian sausage on entire then pepperoni on half and fresh mushrooms on other half. Cut up red bell pepper to saute and prepared asparagus on tray with olive oil, black pepper, and Mrs. Dash seasoning to pop into toaster oven while I went to pick up pizza. Daughter made salad and sauteed the bell peppers.
Made Hubs his special diet dinner (which isn’t much, basically liquid and very soft). He’s lost close to 20# in 2 weeks.

About to turn in. A lot to do tomorrow. Supposed to be high of 49, cloudy but no rain.

Best to all and to all a good night.

So ther Senior Clerk apparently took the day off so me and the One Armed Man to heave 5 carts of closed stuff on the belt. and at the end of the shift, re stack 4 anna half carts of closed stuff. Plus helping fill up a 53 footer with closed school stuff. But that turned 3 into 6 hours of work, so no complaints.

Only if the monkey was a rum guzzling assassin.

Also, Spot. When he’s not trying to Moopsy me.

Happy Doperversary!

Happy Toosday!

Wet and miserable outside.

I screwed up last night. I had chills and went to bed. After I was all wrapped up in my blanket and comfortable, I remembered I forgot to take my pills. I wasn’t getting back up.
Big Mistake!
I woke up at 230, had to pee, and I was in so much pain I could barely move.
I had cramps in both legs and my feet and toes, and sciatica pain down the left side,
I won’t do that again.

My son said he might have OT this week. Closing is still scheduled for Thorsday, so he may not get much sleep before irk. So much for having a day off for the holiday.

{{{CatGlove}}}

After midnight, way past my bedtime.
I slept in until almost 10 this morning though, after such a rough night,

Hope you get better. That’s got to be frustrating, getting comfy and then having to get up with the pain.

oh wow, norms could be bigger crapshoots than Dennys at freeway exits …

my mom pretty much quit cooking for the holidays so she took the budget for what would have been xmas dinner and bought the 8-item catering deal at the much lamented Mandarin Gate restaurant…

Now their idea of a tray was to take one of those disposable roasting pans that hold a 25 lb turkey and fill it to about 1/8th from the top we were eating it for a week lol when we finally went back to the restaurant and the owner asked where we’d been and i told her she shoot her head and said " i told mom that that was too much even for you guys …i would of made it smaller but she said it was Christmas… (we had Mexican from Don cucos for Thanksgiving… )

Survived xmas … spent today cleaning up …

Such excitement! We went to a restaurant called Vieux Carré, where I finally got to drink a…You’ll never guess…vieux carré! (Verdict: excellent. Would recommend.) I silently toasted doggio. flyboy, don’t you also drink those sometimes? And then I thought of swampy and had bacon-wrapped shrimp and grits. Heaven! I now understand why swampy and OYKW get a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for 'em.

We had a wonderful Christmas. For the felines, catnipping led to catnapping. After gift opening, we picked up SIL’s mom and went to my SIL’s gramma’s house, where I was warmly greeted by some of my daughter’s many in-laws. I can tell they really love her. Then we came home and had home-smoked ham, roasted root vegetables, and a green bean dish I invented years ago that SIL really likes (green beans, a little butter, bleu cheese, bacon, carmelized onions, and toasted pecans), and salad. The MIL brought a luscious made-from-scratch cranberry vanilla cake with a cheesecake filling. She even decorated it with frosted cranberries.

I leave tomorrow. Hopefully the trip home will be smoother than the one getting me here.

Closed stuff?Aren’t all the boxes closed?? I may never get hep to your lingo, daddy-o.

Sari, ouch. I hope the pain is gone now.

Boo, I wish you’d had a happier Christmas. Those grands are going to be sooooo happy to see you!

I have to agree. Wait, what did he say about milkweed?

cookie, how IS the knee?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It is raining.

Closed businesses. Closed schools go to a different trailer. Until unload goes down, and they all get dumped on the 200 Slide.

Hope you’re felling better, sari.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 47 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 63 and partly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is to procure provisions. I think we shall get fried chikin N.O.L.s whilst there for the main feed of the day. I may or may not make soup today. Other than that, the usual sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’ shall happen, as is our wont.

sari ouchie! Hope you’re feelin’ better today.

Cat_Glove hope hubs is over the infection soonest. Y’all have been through a lot with that and still have a lot to go through with his bone marrgou for the tip. We are also generous tippers.

Oopsie good on you for the tip! We are generous tippers as well.

shades glad you survived Christmas.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

As exhausted as I was last night, it still took a while to fall asleep. But overall, I think I got between 6-7 hours and I’m feeling close to human this morning. In my fatigue-fuzzled state last night (that’s my excuse) I agreed to keep the grands today so Daughter could get some cleaning done at home. I still don’t understand why she can’t work with kids there - moms have done it for centuries. Anyway, I need to run to WalMart for critter chows and on the way back, I’ll fetch the kids. They can run amok in the basement.

Except I need to put the basement back together - I’d moved stuff around so the carpet would dry. At the moment, it’s an obstacle course. So once I finish morning intrarwebz reading, I’ll put things to rights down there. And I’ve got to get some plastic storage drawer units to take with me - Daughter requested them for organizing and I want them out of here anyway. I also need to get the car seats back in my car. Plus, yanno, the whole dressing for leaving the house stuff. I will not wear fuzzy robe and slippers beyond the confines of my yard, and even then, I prefer not to leave the house clad thusly.

Daughter will come for supper when she reclaims her spawn - I’m going to make chickie nuggets or strips or something. I’ve got a couple o’ chickie tits out to thaw. And we’ll have the leftover veggies from last night’s pot roast - there were a LOT of carrots!

It’s supposed to rain all day - a fire in the basement will be nice.

So that’s the plan of attack. Happy Wednesday!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 14c/58f and sunny on the Costa Blanca. Weather app says “It’s a decent day. Because it fucking is. End of.”

We had a good walk towards La Rambla yesterday and found some new bars and restaurants to try out for lunch. Then we walked along the beach for a while, sat and watched a couple of dogs playing in the sea, then back to our hotel for a rest before heading out for the evening.

Somewhere along the line, I picked up some crud so I am coughing, sniffimg and sneezing. Dosed myself up with paracetamol and managed a bit of sleep so am feeling less stuffy headed. Hopefully fresh air will help!
