Too late for ETA3. Will a knee replacement give me a full range of motion? My right knee hasn’t gone all the way back since the skiing accident in high school (and the collision exactly a year later). With my arthritis getting worse, it a mite uncomfortable to ride a sportbike (which is why I seldom ride anymore 
).
This morning I noticed the penalty jar with a GHS in it. (If a spider is found in the house, it spends time in the penalty jar until we get around to releasing it outside. Yes, I know releasing them outside is a death sentence, but at least they have a chance.) When Mrs. L.A. moved in, she was terrified of spiders. She’d scream and call me to rescue her if there was a daddy longlegs in the shower. So I told her, 'Good job for catching that (large, frightening to some) spider. She said it was easy; it was on her head. She didn’t know how it got on her head. It’s amazing I wasn’t awakened by a blood-curdling scream. So props to The Missus for catching a spider that was on her head! (I’ve only had one on my foot. And it waited until I was finished brushing my teeth so I could catch it.)
Going straight to the late-night final today, been a long one. Initial refereeing was from about 9am (when I got out to the field) until 12:30pm, when I got home after two games in 90F heat. Finished off my frozen custard then and rested for a bit, then for reasons I can only explain as temporary (hopefully temporary) insanity, I stopped at the gym for an hour before going to my 5pm game (it was only 86F by then). Got home close to 7pm, ate my Big Bowl O’Pasta and have done nothing of consequence since then. Did stay hydrated, but I really am ready for Fall to kick in.
And it’s been almost 24 hours since I last talked with y’all and about 40 messages are awaiting me, so I’ll do my best to wade through them before sleepage claims me.
Shoe, hope Sunday will truly be a day of rest for you, that’s some long hours. And as for the smokes, some places have it as a rule that everyone must ID, no matter what your age (I’m 73 and have on occasion been asked to provide ID).

Swampy, I haven’t been to Eggs Up in a long time, need to check their menu for Sunday Brunch..hmmmmm. Get some tree leaves every fall, but most come from the forest area a couple houses down at the end of the cul-de-sac, so I figure that’s the price of no thru traffic.

Now that the bike is mobile, I just need to move it out of the way. Changing the tire (Wait… it’s an English car. ‘Tyre’.) will give me a chance to try out my wooden knock off hub ‘wrench’ I’ve only ever used the rawhide side of the hammer directly on the hub. I did order a 36-inch hose and an inflator attachment for use with my Aqualung.
A Victorinox Tinker arrived today. It struck me that it’s very similar to my Wenger Highlander. The Wenger has a larger can opener (which I’ve tried, and didn’t work as well as others I’ve used), and it has a nail cleaner and file, whereas the Victorinox has a smaller knife blade. Since Wenger went defunct in 2005, I’ve put the Highlander into the collection, and replaced it with the Tinker for handy use.
Screw that, what about the impact on a hot, sunny summer afternoon?

Work was pretty okay. Manager-In-Training was relatively polite and actually quite helpful a coupla times, so that was nice.
We had a sudden pop-up storm followed by a gorgeous double rainbow. I was walking to my car (S.M. sent me out for smokes) and I passed a young woman sitting in her car - probably waiting for her pizza - nose buried in phone.
I wanted to be like, “Look UP! That rainbow won’t be there in a few minutes.”
The storm was weird - it hit us right at sunset, but there was no storm to the west, so we were admiring the golden sunset light when suddenly I was like, “Why’s everything all wet?”
Today’s “Pizza Of The Day” brought to you by pepperoni’n’bacon. Jeeeeeebus we made a lot of those today. It’s a popular combo, but tonight was nutz.
Honorable Mention goes to to jalapeños. They’re not super common as a topping, but not uncommon either, if that makes sense.
But today we had so many pizzas that included The Spicy ™ that everyone separately made a comment about their frequency.

Car taxing here is very simple and for my car very cheap- all online, takes 5 minutes, and no physical tags any more. The one thing we really still have to be proud of in the UK is the .gov.uk website, it really is well designed. I think tax for my current vehicle is about £35 for the year, so not bad. Insurance, on the other hand…
Known as the ‘terroir’; make sure to put on a cliche French accent when you say it for extra pretentiousness. Really though, it’s all of the above; light, terroir, variety, and finding the combination of all three that works for best flavour.
I know the breeders I work with consider the loss of flavour to be a major issue, they do a lot of work in trying to get stuff that works for the growers, looks good and tastes good. I often get to try them…
I’ve never got in to cheese making, though I’d like to, I’ve been living places with a shared kitchen, which somewhat limits what can be done in there. Maybe when I’ve had the kitchen replaced I’ll try some simple recipes…
My solitary gig of the year is this afternoon; I will be heading out shortly after midday and won’t be back until after midnight, which is novel for me nowadays.

My sleep pattern has been off for a few days so when we got home yesterday mid-afternoon, I emptied the car, only put a few things away, vegged for a few hours then went to bed. Woke up about 1am and read the 50+ unread posts from the previous mmp. Now it’s 5:30am and I’m feeling in need of getting back to bed. Hopefully, I can do a write up of our vacation later today. Suffice it to say we were on the go and had a lot of experiences and fun.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Started the morning with Spot cuddles, grooming, and occasional face nibbles, because he apparently believes the “Leopards Eating Peoples Faces Party” is a real thing. I shall do the usual morning cleaning and afternoon sloth. It’s currently 67 degrees Ferret Height(19.444 Centipedes).

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 94 and partly to mostly cloudy. We had a couple of hours of a nice steady rain last night which lulled me to sleep. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. I may or may not do so solo. Someone is bein’ undecided right now. I have made the executive decision that today’s main need to feed will be stoner food after deheathenization. I will also head back to the church house at three p.m. for the Sunday discussion group I am part of.

Cookie good-ish news on the blood results, easily caught by the doc and you know that you can do something about it.
flyboy sounds like getting to breakfast was a bit of an adventure! I hope the food was worth the trauma.
Yesterday went kind of according to plan 
I got home from the gym, showered and sheveled for facing the public, and we went out for lunch at Jack’s Café. Afterwards, we walked into town and did our separate errands, then went back to the pet store for cat supplies. Then I drove us round to a supermarket I don’t usually go to - we stocked up on their own-brand cat treats because the mogs seems very fond of those, and I got a loaf of fancy sourdough bread (minus metal bits!). The rustic bakery where I usually get my bread from is closed this week while the owners are on holiday so I had to find my little treat elsewhere.
Went home, unloaded the car, had a cuppa and then got an Uber into town. We started off at the Posada and were sitting outside in the courtyard, Deb the barmaid turned the speakers up a bit as 'im indoors was feeding the jukebox and chatting to a couple about his musical choices. They came out and sat with us for a while. That was fun, they live a few miles away and had come to town for the same reason as us so we talked about where they’d been and what their town was like. We parted ways and pottered across the road to the Lych Gate which was pretty busy. Made friends with a beautiful Spaniel pup who was incredibly friendly.
We had decided to pop into the newly reopened Dog & Doublet which turned out to be very disappointing so we went to the Giffard instead. They had our favourite beer on, so we had some and sat outside nattering to random strangers. Our usual pub route would have taken us to the Clarendon Hotel and curry, but instead we stayed at the Giffard and planned to be home early enough to get a pizza from our local place. That worked out nicely, home by 1am and on the sofa with pizza and tea.
No big plans for today - cats have been fed, Muffin requested second breakfast as well. I am making chilli for dinner tonight, and am planning an afternoon of slothfulness on the sofa.
Only salt, pepper, granulated onion and garlic powders. I rubbed them all into the raw pork chunks, and let them sit while the pork lard (“manteca”) melted in the slow cooker. Then the chunks were submerged in the liquid manteca and cooked on high for five hours, until they were almost falling apart. The next day, I shredded the leftovers and mixed them with Bullseye barbecue sauce and we ate them again on buns with a side dish of potato salad. Yum! Now to come up with some other dishes to cook in my fancy new slow cooker.
Yesterday I had my fourth visual migraine, or scintillating scotoma. It happened while I was driving, so I slowly drove home and went to bed to wait for it to dissipate. I’m starting to notice a pattern: they happen when I’m exerting myself in a bit of a rush while simultaneously being exposed to a bright light. Twice I got one while striding vigorously outside on a bright hazy summer day, and twice when rushing around inside a Target while under a time constraint. Target is very brightly lit, not only from above, but now they have back lighting on a lot of their shelves, so you’re always looking at glaring white light. Oh, well, the visual migraines are harmless and painless, so it’s not a big deal. They do leave one feeling a little spaced out afterwards, though.
That’s truly one of the weirder things I’ve ever heard, tax-wise . Our property taxes, for now, are paid from our escrow at the mortgage company. Our vehicle registration stuff is all done on line, tho you can actually go to MVA and do it in person if you make an appointment. Maybe by mail also. Is that a state rule or a county rule?
One of Daughter’s friends just found out she’s pregnant with her third. Her current youngest is about 10 - heck of an oooops!! Babies is sneaky critters!!
We got a surprise (to me, anyway) t-storm towards midnight. Just a couple of big booms, and mostly rain.
Last night, I decided to watch Lawrence of Arabia - never saw it before, but I lurves me some Peter O’Toole. However, I didn’t realize it was such a looooooong movie! (Almost 4 hours) I stopped it at what seemed to be a logical point, but I’ve still got a bit over 2 hours to go. I’ll try to finish it this afternoon so I’m not up stoopit late tonight.
Today has started with 63 Ferrets and I’ve opened the house, at least for a bit - we’re headed to mid-80s. I am so ready for open-window weather! My one sorta-plan is to run to Food Lion and get some more root beer for FCD while it’s on sale. I thawed some sketty sauce yesterday, so that’ll be our main meal, either midday or for supper. We shall see.

Happy Sunday morning, all! At 9:20am it’s 70°F and mostly sunny 13 miles west of the White House. A big storm came through late last night so it’s probably not very humid at the moment, but I don’t want to find out: I need to work for a while this morning (after I finish this post), and I’d rather not know what I’m missing.
I went to bed shortly after last night’s post and have spent the morning so far on personal administrivia, so I have nothing of any consequence to share with y’all. After being out and about most of yesterday, I’m looking forward to a day at home: this afternoon there will be Lego, and at some point I’ll do laundry (I actually remembered to take it downstairs when I went to the kitchen to grab a protein shake and Gatorade!).
Work will likely be just as busy this week as it was last week, but even though I can’t work from home tomorrow I should still be able to be remote on Friday. 
Short-term “rewards” are important when things are like this; having that to look forward to will help me get through the week.
A month from tomorrow I’ll drive up to NY – near the Catskills, to visit family and see Ringo Starr in concert – and having that to look forward to is also helping. I made an appointment at the car place for 10 days before I leave: it’ll be time for an oil change, and I also want them to do a general pre-road-trip check (I trust them). If they find anything, I’ll have time to address it before the 300-mile drive north.

Good morning, everyone. It’s been a lazy morning in the Magill household. We’re both sipping our coffee and fiddling on our phones.
Last night, I started my Call of Cthulhu mini-campaign. I’ll probably run one or two scenarios with these characters before selling everyone on the much more massive Horror on the Orient Express. I was very pleased with how everyone reacted to play. CoC is much more role-play oriented than DnD is. Everyone was taking notes and acting in character. Several bold choices were made, which I rewarded. We’re playing again next Saturday.
I have caught up with everything, but there is too much to comment on, if I want to hit the Penny’s clearance sale. Mrs Magill reported there were some nice tanks and t-shirt dresses.
Well good morning all. Up about 6am, and found that my soccer teams ( U7 and U10 Boys) had been posted, so needed to get that information collected. Then off to Eggs Up for a proper breakfast (Pancakes, Bacon and Orange Juice) and to collect the Sunday NY TImes, and then back home to send e-mails to the soccer parents introducing myself and sending practice times and general well-wishing out. So now I am ready to face the day and the lives of my fellow Mumpers.
It’s 80F already at 9am, but ‘only’ going to 88F without a drop of rain to be seen, so given the exertions of yesterday, slothage is very likely. Nothing much else on the agenda, might do a little house-irk, or might not.

Shoe, hang in there, and if it gets to irksome, just close your eyes and think of Overtime… And nope, I am not a berry person at all. Can’t tell you why, it’s just one of those quirks we all have about eating some things and at 73 I doubt that it is going to change.

FCM, same things for me, both vehicle registration and property tax can be done on-line and the system works pretty well–and if it doesn’t, there is an office for both about 3.5 miles away. And yeah, if you love Peter O’Toole, I am sure you have seen My Favorite Year several times, I may have to watch it now that I have thought of it.

As far as tags go, when I came to Texas, title transfer, tax (I didn’t have my original bill of sale on me) and tags came to $204. I did have to get it inspected for, IIRC, $15. Hereafter, once I have the inspection signed off, I can go to Kroger or HEB for my windshield sticker. The cheapest tags I ever got was when I lived up in Trousdale County, TN. There was no emissions testing or wheel tax, so $22 a year.
Waiting on the nephrologist to come in today. Meanwhile, I had a Nitty Grtty bowl (grits, scrambled egg, crumbled bacon, cheese and spring onion) and some cantaloupe for breakfast. I will say that Hermann Memorial does a good job on their food.

I’ve acquired additional root beer and diet cokes in cans, so FCD is good for a bit. That man does drink some soda… I’ve got the ice maker making ice and I think I’ll finish watching my guy Peter in the desert.
